Well, you've read the notes, the notes marched right along, and now it is time for you to post until the marching cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ERUCTATION!
-
First after BK!
-
I see I have much ketching up to do, but since today is a tax season work day, I'll try to ketchup tomorrow.
-
I loved the Eclectic Cafe on one of my two trips to L.A.

good morning to all

The Devine Sarah played by Denise Pelletier. She died suddenly one week after I saw her do the show which may have been last show of the run.
-
Good morning, all!
Yesterday, at the orchestra rehearsal, I heard from a very good friend some very distressing news, and i was wide awake around 5:00 this morning pondering the news and its consequences. It's very distressing and what I would call the End of An Era. It may not be bad but I'm unhappy about the news.
So, I was out of bed by 6:45; I've got to finish my taxes and find some employment. Or win the Lottery.
Or sell three acres of Ohio property.

TOD:
My favorite one-person shows are the ones that I wrote.
You had to ask?

Good morning, all!
Yesterday, at the orchestra rehearsal, I heard from a very good friend some very distressing news, and i was wide awake around 5:00 this morning pondering the news and its consequences. It's very distressing and what I would call the End of An Era. I fear it will result in my friend moving out of the City, but it also means that a place I was quite fond of is no more.
So, I was out of bed by 6:45; I've got to finish my taxes and find some employment. Or win the Lottery.
Or sell three acres of Ohio property.
Is this closing something that's public info, or were you asked to keep it a secret?

It isn't a closing; it's a change.

Sometimes being "in the know" isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Tax time vibes for DR FJL.

Yes DR JOHN G - and I wonder how many in the audience will know the backstory.

Morning all.
That is all.

I do! I do!!
There was a Royal Ballet staging in the 1950s about Tiresias, DR JRand64!

Amen!
Where's our opening night report from our DR ChasSmith?

TOD:
I have not seen many one-person shows.
MASTER CLASS has several people in it, but it was mostly the Faye Dunaway Show when we saw it. She was excellent - once the curtain finally went up.....45 minutes late.
I directed a one-woman show called "Loving Lucy." The upshot of the show was that people who love Lucy wouldn't necessarily love Lucille Ball....and that was about the size of it.....but my leading actress was lovely and we had a lot of fun - the author was forbidden by the I Love Lucy writers to recreate any of that show's famous set pieces....so it was indeed about Lucille Ball - which disappointed a lot of people.
This photo was taken at our first rehearsal and the wig and makeup weren't right. Megan dyed her hair and it was much more realistic......

-
Good morning.
-
There's a little Eve Arden in the look in the photo, too.
-
Hi, Laura!
-
Glad you could pop in during tax season, FJL.
-
Yes DR FJL there certainly is......
-
My Income Tax Refund has finally been approved and should be in my bank by March 4.
-
Good morning, all.
My first post since yesterday's good morning?!
COFFEE!!
-
I'm told we'll be starting tax work circa 11:30, so I should get ready and then hie myself to the office.
This is my first Saturday in the new office (we moved just before Christmas). it'll be interesting to see what Saturday security at the building is like. (At the old building, Saturday security was more diligent than weekday, it seemed.)
-
Actually, make that MORE coffee. That first cup sure went fast!

-
Last night was the Verdi Requiem with a choir of 150+. It was thrilling.
-
Tonight is the gala grand opening of the new Ordway Music Hall downtown.
-
Now I need to go catch up.
-
The opening night went pretty well, and as far as I am able to tell, the audience was pretty generous in voicing its approval. It wasn't a full house, though. Maybe three quarters?
As I was telling DR Elmore yesterday, this is kind of a weird little gig, in that I feel more like I'm just showing up to do a job than I normally do. I'm new to this particular theater, I can't see and hear very much of what's happening on stage, and the meager little six of us in the pit are just doing our best to hold the score together. I got fine comments from people I don't know, so I can only hope it's sounding as decent as they say.
All of that having been said, I think we're on the verge of getting to the point where we're comfortable with it and it will be a little more fun. But one shouldn't have to be saying that at this point. Sufficient rehearsal time would make all the difference.
-
But let's move on to something important, like the PAINT YOUR WAGON reading. DR Elmore "thinks" the score is going to sound good? Oh my god... :)
The sound of those musicians playing a score to a higher level of perfection than has probably ever been heard, in those close, tight acoustics, is bliss. I can't thank DR Elmore enough for the opportunity. I'm just sorry I had to duck out early, when I would have sucked up every last note.
-
How great to be able to watch DR Elmore's adopted son scurrying around, hard at work! :)
He's got quite the job there, keeping everything in order and everyone happy.
-
Saturday morning greetings! We are keeping our eyes on the snowstorm that's predicted for tomorrow. Fr. Richard is practicing his sermon right now, which is pretty optimistic on his part...
-
And the word of the day is: ERUCTATION!
And The Song Of The Day Is: BURPING
-
DR Elmore, I walked in on the end of a conversation you were having about Trude Rittman. A comprehensive (book, whatever) on her would be a wonderful thing.
-

Speaking of my son Joshie, he just stopped by with an emergency job for me: proofreading new transposed orchestra parts for "I Can Cook Too," to be played on Tuesday night and sung by the Hildy understudy with no orchestra rehearsal. Those notes have to be right! So, I will do that now before I go back to my taxes.
-
DR Elmore, I walked in on the end of a conversation you were having about Trude Rittman. A comprehensive (book, whatever) on her would be a wonderful thing.
Trude was one beautiful lady. I met her about two years before she died, and her memory was slipping. She was kind, charming, very sweet lady, a very elegant and sophisticated European musical scholar. She probably knew counterpoint and composition better than any musical arranger working now. I was quite fond of her. We were talking about the ladies who worked behind the scenes, like her and Genevieve Pitot.
-
Right note vibes for DR Elmore!
-
DR Jennifer, Keith rented THE MAZE RUNNER for us to watch tonight. Seeing that it is based on a book I looked to see if you had read it. Did you also watch the movie?
-
Emergency work = Emergency money for DR ELMORE.
DR CHAS SMITH thanks for the Opening Night dispatch....most excellent.
-
And now I have exhausted all possibilities, and now I must work on my lines.
-
I'm up, I'm up. I didn't get to bed until three-thirty, so seven hours of weird but interesting dreams.
-
There are some real tone clusters in that "I Can Cook, Too" chart by Don Walker!
-
Just lost a Kritzerland cast member - love when this happens a week before a show - trying to replace her now. It's the flu - her kids have it and gave it to her.

Oy and Vey!

I am having a rare third cup of coffee. I am waiting around to find out if my sister is going to be released from the hospital today, or whether she will be kept for another night.

DR TCB, VIBES FOR YOUR SISTER!
Did you mention she was in the hospital? If so, I apologize for missing it. Is she ok?
-
DR Singdaw your beautiful photo of winter is extremely different from our winter here. The sun is shining on our, very green, snow capped mountains. I love the different layers of colors we can see.
-
DR TCB, VIBES FOR YOUR SISTER!
Did you mention she was in the hospital? If so, I apologize for missing it. Is she ok?
No, I didn't mention it yesterday. She is diabetic and her numbers shot up over 600 and they also were worried about possible renal failure. Her numbers are down today, but still high at 190.
-
It is another beautiful sunny day here in Washington. Apparently California and Ariozona are getting our rain, and we are getting their sunshine. The ski slopes got a little bit of snow this week, but not enough to re-open several of their runs.

Yes I did read the book (although quite a while ago). And yes I did see the movie.
I didn't love the movie. but I liked it okay.

That was the third TB in the last few months. Of course, it says what an exciting social life I have that I watch WHEEL OF FORTUNE every night!

The waters of Puget Sound are beautiful today. The waters are a very dark blue and in places black, Either that or they are white and in places gold.

That is about what I'm expecting even though I haven't read the book. It is funny how as soon as I read what the movie was about I was sure you had read it :)

Goodreads is great and I could check immediately if I was correct.

Lovely DR TCB, thanks for the photo.

I've finished the chart for Joshie, and now I am pondering some dinner.

I am very glad you have Joshie in your life.

Good thoughts and well wishes for your sister, TCB.

DR Laura I hope you can figure out the problem and connect with us again once you are home. Have you tried switching from Chrome to Firefox, or the other way around?
-
It is Cox, my cable company, the way I connect to the internet. None of the computers at home can connect, but I can connect from other places.
-
Hello!
-
Health vibes for TCB's sister.
-
Too bad, though it doesn't make sense that you could connect before the site had problems and can't now.
-
Watching Suze Orman.

DR Laura is gone, just as I was about to wish her a safe flight home.

'night. We have a movie to watch.

Looks like it is a good thing I didn't book the earlier flight to Phoenix, as the earlier flight will be leaving after my flight. Some unhappy people here.

I am very glad you have Joshie in your life.
Me, too!
Tonight, I watched for the first time The Slipper and the Rose. I think it's too long, but it's very charming and there are nice touches of whimsy. I really liked Annette Crosbie as the Godmother. She's quite delightdul.

Good evening after show #2. Eight more to go.
-
Good evening after show #2. Eight more to go.
I truly love that show.
-
I directed it and played Maraczek.
-
Vixmom, are you going to go and see SHE LOVES ME?
-
The final hours of February.
-
I can't believe how quickly the weeks and the months go by.
-
I know that it's a sign of old age.
-
Well, I feel ancient.
-
What shall we talk about now?
-
Oh oh, this is the same time that I started having posting problems last night. And Vixmom had problems, too!
-
That could be why everybody else is now gone.
-
Page Five!
-
Or maybe not.
-
Good evening, One Guest!
-
And how are you this evening?
-
Why don't you join us?
-
We have a great deal of fun.
-
And we offer someone to lean on in troubled times.
-
With nothing asked for in return.
-
We are a diverse group of individuals.
-
Still we are stronger as a group.
-
People come, people go....
-
And nothing happens at the Grand Hotel.
-
But things are always happening at HHW!
-
I just watched a "TV special" of STARS ON ICE. Actually, it looked more like a commercial for the STARS ON ICE national tour.
-
Oh well, there was nothing else on that looked very exciting.
-
Next Saturday night, I am going to see the Seattle Symphony perform at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. It is their Rodgers and Hammerstein Celebration.
-
My friend Sandy (who got me on the cruise next month) got the tickets, so this will be my first time seeing what kind of seating they offer for the handicapped.
-
So, in turn, I am taking him out to brunch tomorrow.
-
A whole page of me! God, how depressing.

Post deleted.
-
Vixmom, is that you??
-
Perhaps not.
-
I should warn people that this page is all me.
-
But warning them on post 145 seems a bit late. By now, they know what they are getting.
-
I guess I might as well get us to the next page.
-
That would be Page Six.
-
I might as well finish what I started.
-
Just one more post.
-
Six!
-
G'night!
-
I've been gone all day! I went to work to make up some time and while there, I got a text from Vanessa, who is the Manager of The Midnight Sun, the theater space that Theater Artists Olympia rents. She wanted to know if I could open up The Sun for a renter (it was for a young child's birthday party). She couldn't be there right at the time that the people were going to arrive. I took my lunch time and was able to get there to open the space without any trouble.
-
After work, my parents took me to dinner. My sister, niece and I helped our parents take some yard waste to the composting section of the local dump a few weeks ago, and the dinner was their thank you. My sister, niece and my sister's boyfriend went over last night while I was at "Angels In America." We went to Mayan (a Mexican chain) and it was all pretty good. After dinner, we went back to my parents' house and played a couple of games of Phase 10. I won the second game! I am now home and ketchuping on all the posts. :)
-
Topic of the Day: I don't remember the actual titles of their shows, but I've seen Hal Holbrook perform Mark Twain (I just realized that BK mentioned the actual title in his notes, "Mark Twain Tonight"), Frank Ferrante perform as Groucho Marx and Frank Gorshin perform as George Burns on tour at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. I even got to meet Frank Ferrante and get his autograph on my DVD of his show! All three actors and the shows were fantastic!
-
The one time I went to New York, I got to see Avery Brooks in Paul Robeson (http://www.ibdb.com/production.php?id=4319). I just happened to walk by the theater and a woman was selling a ticket for $40. I bought it without realizing where the seat was...it was just about 4th row center on the orchestra level! It was one of the absolute best theatrical experiences of my life!
-
Hey George, I found a OBC that even you probably don't have.
-
I also saw a locally produced one-man Hamlet that was actually pretty good.

TOD - Regarding one-man shows where I could be objective because family and friends were not involved:
Patrick Stewart's Christmas Carol, Madwoman of Central Park West, Shirley Valentine and I Am My own Wife.
I'm not sure if another favorite play, Souvenir, counts as a one-person show, although it's usually sold as one person playing Florence Foster Jenkins, and her pianist. But the pianist is really quite a role.
"Paul Robeson" also had an accompanist, but I counted it. A theater in Tacoma presented, "Glorious!" another Florence Foster Jenkins one-woman show. My friend Josh Anderson (director/music director of TAO's "Brain From Planet X") played the pianist.
