Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written on the first of March, and now it is time for you to post until the first of March cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BUTYRACEOUS!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.
Could definitely have used another hour or so of sleep. But the feline contingent wasn't having it.
Coffee!
-
A matinee today (a late one -- these are at 4:00pm), and then three days of rest for yrs truly.
-
And, ladies and germs, tonight -- TONIGHT-- we are getting SNOW.
Which is what I call: March coming in like a lion.
-
TCB!!
Is there any photographic -- or, even better, videographic -- evidence of your production of SHE LOVES ME?
-
I think I need a cookie with my second cup of coffee. Oh yes.
-
I also just realized I never decided on a day and bought my ticket for PAINT YOUR WAGON. This situation shall be rectified today.
-
Good morning, all! I slept about an hour longer than I had intended.
I had a strange dream involving DR Ginny, Richard, and our long-gone DR Joey and another dream in which I seemed to be on a shopping trip on the Upper West Side with the Real Housewives of Atlanta; all I remember of it now is a trip to Tower Records and refolding clothing in a dept. store. The dream with DR Ginny and Richard seemed to be about about a church bulletin and a murder. Richard had a huge beard like Gabby Hayes and a stupid hat, andwe were fighting over the cover of the church bulletin. I was also directing a murder investigation.
It's got to be that Tylenol with Codeine.
-
Another tax day. At some pint Joshie will contact me abut that chart for "I Can Cook, Too," so I will spend a short amount of time visiting with him. I think I've now printed out ever invoice I need, so all I'm dealing with now are the tallies.
-
Sunday morning greetings! Once again, we are NOT on our way to Lima even though our household has been up since about 5am. For a couple of hours I thought Richard was going to attempt the trip, but he cancelled when we heard that even the nearby Air Force base is closed today.
-
The Church Bulletin Murders!
-
LOL about your dream, DR Elmore! Richard is letting his beard fill out until the end of March and then he will trim it down. He may look like Gabby Hayes yet!
-
The point at which the sermons start sounding like authentic frontier gibberish is when you should begin to worry, DR Ginny.
-
LOL about your dream, DR Elmore! Richard is letting his beard fill out until the end of March and then he will trim it down. He may look like Gabby Hayes yet!
Perhaps my dreams are future events?
Oh, God, I hope not!
-
I'm listening to Dvorak's Requiem this morning. It's quite beautiful, but i think I like the Mass in D better.
Once my church mode is over, I've got a lot of cast and soundtracks to play, and I've pulled these possibilities for today:
The Good Companions
Sitting Pretty
The Slipper and the Rose
On the Twentieth Century
Centennial Summer
On A Clear Day

DR ELMORE the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates your wish to have a visit from DR GINNY and Fr. RICHARD.....although you don't know when that can happen....but you do want to do it sooner rather than later. The bulletin/murder aspects say that you depend upon DR GINNY for news and feel rather out of touch with the old homestead.....and while tragedy would draw you back, it seems a very drastic way of reconnecting.
The other part of your dream indicates that you think much of your work consists of cleaning up after others and putting things in order that others leave awry.

About six inches of snow for us so far....

Thanks for sharing the photos, DR Jrand64!
-
It was truly a grand night last night at the opening of the new Ordway Music Hall downtown. Everyone was dressed up (black tie), so the people watching was fun. The new hall is glorious, with an amazing acoustic, and very comfortable. Afterward I had a chance to catch up with my friend, Sasha Cooke, one of the featured soloists for the evening (DR JRand64 - she sang Kitty in Dr. Atomic at the Met). Pianist Jeremy Denk was also featured - I had met him before through former DR JoseSPiano. Afterward there was music, dancing, and elegant desert stations scattered throughout the building. A fine affair!
-
Today is a production of Oliver. A friend of mine is playing Fagin.

Wow! That thing is running on all gears. Fascinating.
-
DR JRand64, your house looks so snug and inviting, but that back yard is a disaster. I cannot blame Precious for staying in. That snow would bury her.

A belated response to yesterday's TOD: one of my finest memories of an evening in the theatre was seeing Lily Tomlin play The Search for Intelligent Signs of Life In the Universe in New York.

Yes, she was absolutely amazing. I also remember a wonderful performance by a young actress doing Eudora Welty's "Why I Live At The P.O." I also liked Robert Morse as Truman Capote.
On another topic, DRs: Has anyone read any of these provocative books?

-
Thanks DR SINGDAW.....what a fun evening it sounds like. Oh yes......now I want to watch DOCTOR ATOMIC again.....
Yes DR ELMORE for some reason the snow is deeper in the backyard....it is much flatter than the sloping front yard, so that might be one explanation.
I would like to read SOME of those books.
I have been released from rehearsal this afternoon because of the weather.....so that is nice.
-
She had on her snowflake sweater....but that didn't help.

Richard and Rob cleared our driveway and Rob got all the cars off the street:

-
And shortly after I took that photo, 3/4 of our household got in the silver Honda and went to Rob and Mary Linda's church. I did not 8)
-
Mark and I saw "Inside Out" last night. It was charming and delightful, and also delightful and charming. Afterwards, we went to the Boneyard for dinner, which was yummilicous, albeit stupidly expensive for BBQ joint.
-
Hey, look what I found on eBay!!
-
Happy March to everyone. The latest edition of the Broadway Radio Show is now up for your listening pleasure. This time it's an interview with Tony Award nominee Bill Russell as we chat about the recent Broadway revival of SIDE SHOW in conjunction with the release of the new cast recording. ENJOY!
-
This gave me a laugh.
Can anyone with the CD of the Previn musical THE GOOD COMPANIONS send me an mp3 of No. 2 "The Pools"? My CD is good, except for that track. Thank you, DRG!
-
Nice photo DR GINNY.....more snow headed our way this afternoon.
-
Random comment on my Facebook feed:
The people leaving ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY last night was less a walkout and more of an exodus.
-
We've already got an inch or so, because
the son-of- it started six hours earlier than had been forecast.
-
Good morning from the church soundbooth. A very busy morning, since I was out of town so much last week.
-
This gave me a laugh.

It's on the way. You should have it soon if not already.

DR Ben, I just got it. thanks so much!
-
And the church-goers are home, safe and sound!
-
Waiting for Joshie and listening to SITTING PRETTY. "Shufflin' Sam" is one great number! Pick' em up and put 'em down easy.
-
I'm up, I'm up. I fell asleep at two, woke up at six-thirty and was asleep again by seven-thirty, so maybe seven and a half hours, which I'm told is close to eight.
-
All done here. See you next week.
-
My adopted son Joshie has picked up the score and headed home to correct the number. I am going to tally a lot of taxi and subway receipts.
-
Second Sunday in Lent and I just packed away the angel collection. Pretty soon it will be time to decorate for Easter...
-
And I am back from our cancelled matinee! :)
Got my brownie points and gold stars for being the only musician to have managed to show up before they decided to pull the plug on it. The snow was accumulating much too quickly, and much more than had been forecast for the daylight hours, and audience members were starting to call in their cancellations. And it was the right thing to do. It would have been a freaking disaster if they'd let the next three hours of snow fall, with people needing to get out of there.
-
Glad you're home, DR ChasSmith! The storm picked up a lot of steam here in the Midwest...
-
Hello. I was supposed to meet friends for dinner but the driving is treacherous where they live. They have a sheet of ice in their driveway and street.
-
I forwarded part of BK's email to the woman I had talked to at Cox Cable. I just couldn't face a long phone call.
-
I guess I can continue to use my phone as a hotspot until I get a message about getting near my data limit.
-
I walked, slipped and arrived with no injuries or falls at the corner bodega to find the place decimated. I was so frustrated I purchased nothing and left. I'd order out but I don't want to send anyone out in this weather.

Larry, I really believe if you're patient with how long a delivery order might take in this weather, the delivery people from a restaurant would love to have your order on what's probably a slow night for the place itself. I think in this type of weather, delivery is actually good business for them.
-
A mini-discussion on castrecl seems to have happened over whether it's possible that "Send in the Clowns" was covered by over 200 people between the Bway opening and Judy Collins releasing her version.
-
Chas, so glad to hear that your showing up was appreciated!

Those are some strange and interesting titles! Jimmy Fallon used to do a bit and show books like this when he hosted "Late Night."

Hello. I was supposed to meet friends for dinner but the driving is treacherous where they live. They have a sheet of ice in their driveway and street.
Not good. How far away from you are they? Did you also receive more snow?
-

I agree. I'm also glad you made it home without injury.
-
DR elmore you could ask if you call to order out.
-
DR TCB do you think Sandy will actually go on the cruise this time? Where are you leaving from?
-
Kevin, I don't know if Bruce has given you these instructions but try them if you don't think they are too complicated, or perhaps you have a friend who can try it for you. It's all predicated on the idea that you're using Windows, not Apple. I don't know how to do it with Apple.
Thsi may not work but it also might work so it's worth a try (Laura, if you see this in the next week or so you or perhaps your son can try it as well).
What you're attempting to do is to "flush" your DNS cache (DNS = Domain Name Servers). It means you will be flushing out old information from a cache stored on your computer. YOU WILL NOT BE LOSING ANY IMPORTANT INFORMATION and it could get rid of the erroneous information stored in your browser(s) cache(s)
To begin, click the start button at the bottom left of the computer. I think you know what that is. (http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff302/HHWgroup/Start%20Button_zpsgkwdyqls.png) (http://s238.photobucket.com/user/HHWgroup/media/Start%20Button_zpsgkwdyqls.png.html).
When you click it, at the bottom of the long tab is a space that says "search programs and files" at the end of the space is a magnifying glass (http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff302/HHWgroup/start%20tab%20with%20search%20box_zpsylj26iqp.jpg) (http://s238.photobucket.com/user/HHWgroup/media/start%20tab%20with%20search%20box_zpsylj26iqp.jpg.html)
In that space type cmd (it doesn't matter if it's upper or lower case). This is telling the computer to give you a command prompt. A box will open (http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff302/HHWgroup/Command-Prompt_zpsblxcwrag.jpg) (http://s238.photobucket.com/user/HHWgroup/media/Command-Prompt_zpsblxcwrag.jpg.html)
You will see that at the top of the box it says
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Users\Kevin> (or whomever you have listed as the user/owner of the computer)
At the end of the line that says
C:\Users\Kevin>
Press the space bar once (you should see a flashing cursor and you will see it move one space) then type ipconfig/flushdns (exactly as you see it here) then press Enter or Return or whatever that key is called on your keyboard
C:\Users\Kevin> ipconfig/flushdns
After you press Enter/Return/Etc. you should get a message that says
Windows IP Configuration
Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.
C:\Users\Kevin>
As I said, this may not solve the problem but it's helped me in the past when I need to clear out some information from the DNS server/cache. After you complete this I would suggest re-booting the computer to get a clean start. If you're uncomfortable doing this I understand but it's simpler than it looks and sounds.
Good luck and I hope to see you here not on your phone!
-
Back from Oliver! It was a professional production. But they must have cut the heck out of the libretto. The first act was exactly an hour, and the second half even shorter than that. I absolutely hated the new orchestrations. But my friend playing Fagin did a really outstanding job.
-
Then we attended a book signing.
-
I'm shocked, William Shatner was actually criticized for honoring the commitment he made for a charity function instead of going to Leonard Nimoy's funeral.
-
Since I also had church this morning, I am now ready to collapse.
-
MGM HD is having some television HD premieres....including PASSIONATE FRIENDS a David Lean film from 1948.....Madelaine also from the 1940''s about Victorian passion and murder.....and the Laurence Harvey ROMEO & JULIET....in color.
Most entertaining.
-
We're watching a PBS program of Broadway clips from the Ed Sullivan Show - gives me chills!
-
LOL about your dream, DR Elmore! Richard is letting his beard fill out until the end of March and then he will trim it down. He may look like Gabby Hayes yet!
Perhaps my dreams are future events?
Oh, God, I hope not!
dream about getting a big Lotto win!
-
Or if that's not convenient, dream about ME getting a big Lotto win!
-
Vixdad and I were invited to our friends for the day
-
I had volunteers to run coffee hour so I was home from church by 11 so I made breakfast for the two of us before we headed out
-
Chas:
the menu was brown sugar cured Irish bacon, brown sugar cured sausages; poached eggs, toasted bagels with cream cheese, slatherings of HP sauce and a nice pot of tea
-
we were scheduled to be at our friends around 1 so after cleaning up the kitchen after our meal we were ready to set out around 12:30 and realized it had begun snowing
-
we debated the wisdom of setting out but we had not seen these good friends of ours for months and we knew the wife always puts a lot of effort into dinner, also another couple we always meet there was coming so we decided to head out
-
the roads had not yet been plowed or salted and the snow got heavier the further west we drove
-
we had one near miss when we slid right through a red light and nearly t-boned a sedan but the antilock brakes finally kicked in and stopped us just in time
-
Oh my, that is scary.
-
we finally arrived safe and sound and the other couple did as well - we had a fine time - my sides hurt from laughing we always have such a good time together
-
dinner was salad, new potatoes broiled and served in a butter parsley sauce, baked ham cooked with pineapple and zucchini casserole, dessert was a lemon cake with lemon frosting , served with vanilla ice cream and rum sauce
-
about 5 inches of snow had fallen by time we left and the drive home was interesting - the plows had been by at least once but they had not made much of a difference - we saw one accident between a snowplow and a passenger car but made it home without incident - so did the other couple
-
I am quite glad we went - and I know fully well I would have given the Vixter absolute hell if she had done the same thing
-
(The advantages of the "do as I say not as I do" parenting model)
-
I'm glad you are home safe and sound, after having a wonderful day.
-
and in fact, the Vixter was excused from her work at the church due to the weather and we came home to discover that the lovely girl had shoveled the path and the drive
-
It has continued snowing and the blessed child just gone out to clear the walk and drive again (of her own volition)
-
She is lovely :)
-
Maybe someone can cut and paste Ben's excellent post and get it to Kerry, Laura and KevinH.
-
Home from a wonderful performance with an almost full house. Our first complete standing ovation, not that that really means anything. Two critics with us, so we'll see how that comes out, but everyone was pretty much on their game today - lots of laughs, the two act two showstoppers REALLY stopped the show cold today.
-
Then a few of us went to The Smoke House after. When we were leaving, Jason Graae was coming in. Go know.
-
Page four? Really?
-
Really? Page four?
-
And barely page four at that.
-
It's been an interesting day off.
-
And snowy as well.
-
It was an interesting and snowy evening as well.
-
Hoping the streets aren't icy and treacherous tomorrow.
-
I've been home all day.
-
The only plan that I thought about having was to do laundry, but I haven't done any.
-
I guess it's not too late to get a couple of loads in.
-
Once I get that started, I can watch the two latest episodes of "New Girl" before "The Last Man on Earth" starts.
-
watched the Downton Abbey season finale
-
Such a wonderful story about the wonderful vixter!
-
remember when a season used to last 40 episodes? these 6episode seasons are like a snack when I want dinner
-
Sorry I have been E&T the last couple of days.
-
It's been a crazy weekend, the best of which was making up a pot of Irish stew for a Bible study tonight. The lamb tasted great. So did all the other veggies, carrots, celery, leeks, parsnips and potatoes.
-
Just finished writing up a couple of items. Too much more work to be done, but I'm not doing it tonight.
-
Watched a strange melodrama called Wife vs. Secretary with Jean Harlow, Myrna Loy, Clark Gable and Jimmy Stewart. Never felt quite right and they treat Harlow's character all wrong. She's smart, she can run a business, she's funny. So they make her a sap for Stewart in slacks and gives it all up in exchange for her MRS. degree.
The cast was great, though.
-
The musical short on the disc was something called New Shoes with a score from Wright and Forrest. It wasn't Kismet level, but the sight of animated shoes singing was fun.
-
Spent the afternoon listening to a Kritzerland classic, Billy May's score for The Pink Fuzzy Nightgown. Great stuff.
-
Now I need to get some sleep. Still coughing too loudly and the evening's dose of medicine isn't working its full magic.
-
My first load of laundry is in the washing machine and I'm in the middle of the first "New Girl."
-
TCB!!
Is there any photographic -- or, even better, videographic -- evidence of your production of SHE LOVES ME?
I did have a 7-11 video copy of our show. If I can find it maybe I can bribe George into converting it to a DVD. Now I just need to figure out where to look.
-

It doesn't take much to bribe me.
;)
-
Well, since we're so close...
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
"The Last Man on Earth" is now starting.
-
So, Phil, the last man on earth, meets Carol, the last woman on earth, and she is very judgmental. She corrects his grammar and makes him stop at stop signs. Her "demands" are not very funny.
Just my 2¢.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
DR TCB do you think Sandy will actually go on the cruise this time? Where are you leaving from?
Jane, I am not sure I understand what you mean. Sandy has gone on several repositioning cruises. That is how he got the free cruise (the very expensive, free cruise). We fly to Ft. Lauderdale on the 21, and sail on the 22nd.
-
Chas:

Hewitt Packard makes sauce?
-

Don't bother.
-
Karma, baby, karma...Anti-Obamacare Former Sheriff Now Begging for Money to Help Pay Medical Bills (http://www.forwardprogressives.com/anti-obamacare-former-sheriff-now-begging-money-help-pay-medical-bills/).
Idiot. :P
-
My sister remains in the hospital. She is now suffering from renal failure.
-
So, George, will you continue to watch THE LAST MAN ON EARTH? Carol made no sense to me. She wouldn't let him park in the handicap parking spot, but she had no problem going into the hardware store and "shoplift" the things she needed. Also, she didn't have a problem moving into a house that didn't belong to her.

I'll watch at least a couple more episodes to see where they go with it all.

My sister remains in the hospital. She is now suffering from renal failure.
Tom, I am so sorry. :(

It's been quite the rainy afternoon here in the City of Studio and elsewhere. Of course, coming home from the Smoke House, after it had only been raining on and off for ninety minutes, the streets were completely flooded in my neighborhood. Unbelievable. It's coming down pretty hard right now.

Finished with my viewing.

Did some polishing of the latest song then sent it off to Sami and her mom. It's really cute, I think, and has a bridge that made me laugh out loud as it came pouring out. The song is called TMI. And poor Sami has a lot of initials to learn. :)

I'm watching the two-hour season finale of "How to Get Away With Murder."

Chas:
the menu was brown sugar cured Irish bacon, brown sugar cured sausages; poached eggs, toasted bagels with cream cheese, slatherings of HP sauce and a nice pot of tea
Yer killing me!!!
EDIT: No! Wait! I'll be right over! I'm leaving right now!

Good evening, all.
I just did the craziest thing. Felt really drowsy around 8:30 this evening, and laid me down for a quick snooze...
And woke up at 1:30 am thinking it was morning!
-
Got up, made a nice Coke with fresh lime, and am feeling so relaxed. I'll probably get sleepy again soon, but that extra early sleep was just wonderful.
-
So sorry to hear that about your sister, TCB.
-
I'll stay up for a bit before getting back to bed and, hopefully, sleeping soundly till morning.
One reason for feeling so relaxed is that I have the next three days "off" and can ketchup with my, you know, "life".
-
Okay, kids, I'm calling it a night.
-
Why would you call it a night? Did night call it something? It is always being called something.
-
Rumor has it that some people have been calling it a day!
-
I could have posted all night,
I could have posted all night,
And still have begged for more!
-
I could have posted all night,
I could have posted all night,
And still have begged for more!
Well, congrats to TCB on reaching a unique plateau...

:D

Well...

...since...
-
...we're so close...

Sounds like a lot of fun! Hopefully, a video can be posted someday.
