Good morning, all! I got about nine hours of sleep last night and I am feeling mighty chipper at the moment.  I remember one dream in which I was stuck at Macy's with DR Ben and Anthony, maybe DR Ginny, and Richard - we were in a group of friends - waiting for an elevator; we were all running late to a movie.

I am going to step out in a moment and post a letter and stop at the corner bodega.  I will decide from that short trip if I want to make the trek to my doctor on 23rd Street.  I'm not sure I want to go.

I just walked out, and I was surprised by how mild it was, after all my concerns.  I think I will head down to 23rd Street, see my doctor, and stop at Toyland to drop off something for my accountant.  I'll hopefully see Anthony there before I head back uptown.

Since the Man from Philadelphia has pretty much abandoned the office, we no longer have internet there.  It's a mess.

ASK BK

in your IMDB credits you have "Thanks:" for a film called "Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me"

Would it be that it's similar to your song from The Creature Wasn't Nice? or something else?

Good morning, all.

What an unholy mess of icy slushy crap out there.  I'm sorry for all who have to go out in it.  And then, snow again tonight.  And they're all over the place as to how much we're going to get right here.

At least Vixmom is up and firing on all cylinders!   :)     Her car's doing pretty well, too, I understand.

Full moon tomorrow:

This hard-working full Moon arrives in the middle of all this week's fun social activities, ensuring that you take care of basics. Get plenty of exercise and sleep, and eat healthy foods to make the most of this time. Tap into the power of the Pisces Sun to help you access your intuition, which will guide you in making wise decisions. A full Moon is an excellent time to tie up loose ends, so clean out your closets and clear out any negative energy. You'll want every bit of your sharp attention to take advantage of the next new Moon on March 20 -- which is also a solar eclipse, and a potentially dramatic new beginning for you!

Wednesday morning greetings!  We are hunkered down - again - waiting for more snow.  Looks like we're on the northern edge of a storm that will be worse to the south and east of us, but we're still expecting several inches of snow.

DR Ginny, it appears that south of here (D.C., etc.), too, is supposed to get the brunt of it.  (Sorry, DR KevinH!)  Then again, they could be wrong.

What I hope they're not wrong about is this being it for a while.  Of course, I said and believed that very thing a week and a half ago, when it looked clear for a while and seemed inconceivable that another series of these things would come through.
Title: Re: WHEN THINGS GO SWIMMINGLY

DR ChasSmith, we've seen a lot of what our son calls "upside down" weather maps lately.  This time around they're predicting 7-10" in northern Kentucky, 4-6 in Cincinnati, and only 1-3" for us.

And I agree about being done after this one!

Yes DR DRUXY, I read that, too.  I don't know if she is forbidden to discuss the case or not.

His brother had a lot to say about the movie.

The jury in the Jodi Arias case is coming back today.  They told the judge they couldn't reach an agreement yesterday, and she read them the Allen Instruction....aka the dynamite jury instruction......but NOT the full harsh one.

People are thinking that they will come back deadlocked or LWOP.

I think LWOP is the better sentence.....not as likely to be overturned as a DP....and she would have to pay for her appeals to the appellate courts.....no automatic paid for appeals to federal courts......

The only reason I would want the DP is that LWOP would be a thumbs up to her shady, lying defense team.....

The Band Wagon is one of my favorite films and Minnelli's sense of color is one of the reasons. The green in one Cyd Charisse's jackets, purple in another dress, red in the ballet, the blue black of night in Central Park, the white of their outfits, the blue of Astaire's socks. Don't mess with the color.

My favorite moment in FOXCATCHER is the scene where the Vanessa Redgrave character comes to the gym to watch her son (Steve Carell) working with the wrestlers.

She didn't have one line of dialogue, but WOW!

Hey, this is Ask BK day, so:

What do you use to record stuff, like at the piano?

The reason I ask is that, in a continuing effort to ketchup with the new millennium, I recently discovered I'd like to have a portable digital audio recorder such as a Zoom, Tascam, or the like.

Recipe please!!

2 pounds stew beef, cut in 1" cubes
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
1 cup white cooking sherry

Combine in deep oven dish and top with 8 oz. sliced fresh mushrooms.  Cover and bake at 325 for 3 hours.  Serve over noodles with a green vegetable and crusty bread.

Now that is the kind of post I like to see!  May "all good" continue to be your password

Just put one of our favorite dinners in the oven - a beef "stroganoff" casserole.  Great for a snowy evening...

Recipe please!!

2 pounds stew beef, cut in 1" cubes
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
1 cup white cooking sherry

Combine in deep oven dish and top with 8 oz. sliced fresh mushrooms.  Cover and bake at 325 for 3 hours.  Serve over noodles with a green vegetable and crusty bread.

I think this will be a Vixfamily meal in the near future

That's in the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World in Florida.

I don't want to stay there.

That sounds just perfect, DR Ginny!

(Note to self:  make it!)

DR ChasSmith, it's a recipe my Dad found in the newspaper about 40 years ago.  My copy is in his handwriting.

That's nice.  I wish I had recipes in my mother's writing.  I have a couple from Keith's mother.

Cream of mushroom and Lipton onion soup mix are two things I like and don't use anymore.  DR Ginny, I am guessing this is a splurge from your heart diet.

I have tempered good news. I got the blood test back regarding my thyroid. It is basically negative for what they are looking for, but they recommend another test.

I got the report in an email from the hospital, the scan is practically unreadable. So I will call the hospital tomorrow to get a better copy and have the doctor explain it to me.

Does the hospital have mychart?  It is great to read your reports on line.

Congrats on the tempered good news, may it soon be all good.

Example:   http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/h4n

Like Adriana Hofstetter, I use my iPhone and the iRecorder app.  Then you just log on to a web address given and download it right to your computer.

We saw that the other night, DR KevinH, and loved it!  Tonight we have 1960-63 pop, which is more Richard's era than mine.

So far not Craig's school.  I had looked a little while ago and re-checked when I read this.  I'll keep watching.

Do you have to go out in it?

I should confess to having eaten a couple of home-assembled pastrami sandwiches tonight.  I'd been craving this for a while.  Instead of my purist pastrami-mustard-rye version, I wanted my home-brewed Rueben-ish cole slaw version.  It only takes a minute to make a great one, and most of that time is spent separating the thin layers of pastrami to stack it properly.

The local ingredients:

Boar's Head (ubiquitous deli brand in the northeast) pastrami, sliced very thin.
Finlandia (imported, aged) swiss cheese (a favorite), also sliced very thin.
Shop Rite store-baked seeded rye bread.
Shop Rite store brand cole slaw (I have yet to find my ideal in cole slaw, but this fills the bill).

Stack at least a quarter pound of the pastrami on a plate.  Put a slice or two of swiss cheese on top.  Nuke for 15 seconds.  Remove, flip it, add a slice of swiss to the other side, nuke for another 15 seconds.  Place this steaming pile of heaven on one slice of the rye bread.  Add the cole slaw, the other slice of bread, and press the sandwich closed.  (I like a pressed sandwich.)

Eat.

Repeat.

It may not be the Carnegie's or Katz's or Langer's or Nate's or even Al's, but this pastrami is far and above any other I've had from a store, and taking a minute to prepare it this way, whether for the plain or the cole slaw version, is totally rewarding.

Had a house-cured pastrami sandwich yesterday at lunch at a new BBQ joint. It was excellent, except there was no pickle on the side. I could have eaten three.

In addition to excellent pastrami, there was a thin slab of Swiss, some sauerkraut and a thousand island dressing with the tiniest bit of sriracha in it for the tiniest kick.

No Russian dressing, no 1000 island, or even mustard?

I think I should stop reading "The Woman Upstairs" and begin a different book.  The fact that I am not reading when I'm in bed wide awake is telling me I don't want to return to the story.
