Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a two-show notes, and now it is time for you to post until the two-show cows come home. They especially enjoyed playing the MOOtinee.
-
And the word of the day is: RHADAMANTHINE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
good morning to all
-
Good morning. I get to go birdwatching today! I don't have to sit in a courtroom and judge someone. Yay!
-
Good morning, all.
I am thanking the heavens I don't have to run off somewhere first thing this morning.
Coffee!
-
And I believe I made up the sleep lost from yesterday's running off, so that is a good thing.
-
So what's in store for today? Mostly stuff around the house which will be nice to ketchup on. Accompanied by music. I'll get back to Paint Your Wagon, for sure, and then some Zorba, for which I now have the 1983 revival album as well.
-
Good morning, all! I had a restless night of sleep, and I have a day with too much running about to suit me. I have to be at City Center between 10 and 10:30 to help Joshie get the orchestra parts I copied ready for today's rehearsal. Then I will go to Chelsea Music and proofread music for this Duck Dynasty show. It annoys me that I cannot be there before 1:00, since no one will be in any earlier today. By the time I get there, I'll be ready for a nap and nodding through my work. That's neither good for me or the music.
-
DR TCB, you are my favorite little hick,
-
And a very happy birthday to BK's daughter!
-
Here I am crowing about not having to run around, while poor DR Elmore is burdened with too much of same.
-
Good morning. I get to go birdwatching today! I don't have to sit in a courtroom and judge someone. Yay!
I, on the other hand, head back to court......
-
Happy birthday to BK's daughter!
-
Stay awake vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Healing vibes for DR GINNY.
-
I have a rehearsal tonight at 6:30......so I am hoping that I get a call that my car is ready sometime today.....then I just have to find someone to take me to pick it up.
Tonight I get to see the entire show for the first time....it should be most interesting, and I hope - entertaining.
-
TOD:
I saw a touring production of the John-Rice AIDA.....during the Saturday matinee, the understudy for the title role was announced. I like the show for what it is, and this girl was amazing! She actually made the show better than it was.
Afterwards my friend former DR KURT and I went for dinner, and as we were walking back to the car, we stopped on the sidewalk and were talking about how good the show was. Two people were also stopped. The man said "Was it good enough to see again?" And we said YES. So he gave us two extra tickets he had.
They were great seats, and the real AIDA was on, and she wasn't nearly as good.
-
When I saw A CHORUS LINE on Broadway in 1985, on a Saturday evening....there were about SIX understudies on....and the show really looked tired.....
-
I guess I've seen my share of understudies, in theater and in a couple in operas, but I can't recall any time when it was a matter of great significance or disappointment to me.
-
Probably not an understudy situation, since I believe she actually took the role after Kelli O'Hara left it ... but by the time I got to the Lincoln Center revival of SOUTH PACIFIC, Laura Osnes was the Nellie Forbush, and I loved her more than any Nellie I'd ever seen. This was near the end of the run, not too long before the PBS telecast for which O'Hara returned, so the show was fresh in my mind -- and as I watched the telecast, I thought "how ordinary". I'd so loved how young and fresh Osnes had seemed to me, and I didn't think O'Hara brought that particular magic or anything else unique to it. I'm sure I'm uttering blasphemy here, but such were my impressions.
In all fairness, the whole telecast was a lesson in how much theater magic is lost in translation to the TV screen. For one thing, this one was notably rushed for the allotted time, and some wonderful moments on stage were literally eviscerated through being truncated. Of course, had I not seen the production live, I would most likely have been thrilled with all the good that was there on the screen. And especially in the speakers.
-
Monday morning greetings! I, too, am enjoying not having to be anywhere at any particular time today. Richard and I will go out after lunch to do some errands, but nothing for which I have to be "on."
-
Healing vibes for DR GINNY.
Um, thanks, DR JRand, but I'm fine. Maybe this should go to DR Cillaliz or DR Jeanne...
-
Oh dear, I'm up and have been up since five-thirty - three-and-a-half hours of sleep. I tried to fall back asleep to no avail. Allergy problems. So, I finally got up and did corrections on the two charts I got the other day and sent those off.
-
That's too bad. I think that when allergies are bothering me, I'm prone to sleeping more, not less, than usual -- if for no other reason than I feel like I have a cold and I feel down and just want to hibernate.
-
DR JRand64, I'm very sad to report that I had no more luck copying this DVD with TDMore than with my other app (ImgBurn). Both of these give up the ghost at between 70% and 80% in the read process.
I've watched the disc all the way through on my good player and I can fast-forward all the way through it on the laptop, so there are no obvious play errors.
These people must be serious about not having these ripped off. They charge a pretty penny for them, so I guess that's a tidy little profit center. Any other ideas, though, let me know. And I can still take it over to my friend's house.
-
Ah well.....it was worth a try, I guess.
DR GINNY -- you are correct.....I meant DR JEANNE.....but you are welcome to them, too.
-
No word about the car yet....and time is ticking away.....
-
Good morning, all.
Happy Monday vibes.
-
JRand, here's an interesting story on the notorious hold-out on the Arias jury:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/03/16/jodi-arias-juror-17/24836259/
-
Two!
-
ChasSmith, I have not hopped on the Kelli O'Hara bandwagon. I don't dislike her, but I also don't find much of anything special about her, either. And that opinion has lessened since I've heard "Bridges of Madison County" in which her fake accent evaporates way too often.
Yet I hear she's wonderful in this "King and I" revival.
-
TOD:
I had really wanted to see Karen Akers in Nine, but Maureen McGovern had taken over the role by the time I went. This was my first visit to New York. Not only was McGovern the perfect Luisa, she was also very gracious at the stage door after the show.
That's not really an understudy story, though.
I guess the real understudy story is one I've told here before, where the director had to fill in for the leading lady in "The Merry Wives of Windsor" at the local Shakespeare in the Park. She carried the script behind a fan, but she was more wonderful than the actress who normally played the part. A perfect evening of theater that, more than 30 years later, remains vivid in memory.
-
Vixmom, I would love to come to the Island of Long.
-
As long as you don't confuse it with Island of Long Pig...
-
That juror is as big a liar as Jodi Arias and her defense team DR JOHN G. I saw that she was giving an interview even though she was afraid for her life because of the "threats" she was receiving.....
Finally after the sentencing on April 13, we will be rid of all of this craziness.
-
JRand, I don't know why you think she is lying. It sounds like she answered all the questions they asked beforehand. I doubt they asked if any of her family members had been prosecuted by that prosecutor.
I can see myself as being the quiet one on a jury. And I might even be the holdout on a death penalty case. Or any case, actually. The bullying that must go on in a jury room is incredible. And their names should never ever be published.
Very few people really want to be on a jury. You are threatened with arrest if you don't show up.
-
DR TCB, you are my favorite little hick,
Thank you, my friend.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to BK's Darling Daughter, Jennifer!! :D
-
So what's in store for today? Mostly stuff around the house which will be nice to ketchup on. Accompanied by music. I'll get back to Paint Your Wagon, for sure, and then some Zorba, for which I now have the 1983 revival album as well.
I love Debbie Shapiro (now Gravitte) as The Woman on the revival recording. I also love Lorraine Serabian on the original recording, too. and I love the opening number, "Life Is," and how they each sing it. :)
-

Jrand, Break Legs at your rehearsal tonight! For "Laughing Stock" tonight, we'll be running act one and it's the first night that we're supposed to be off book! :o I'm not quite there yet...kind of close, but not perfect and certainly not secure. Tomorrow night we're off book for act two, so I have a slight reprieve.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to BK's Darling Daughter, Jennifer!! :D
Happy birthday wishes to BK's DD, Jennifer!
-
Still trying to wrap my mind around DR Jane's curious reference: "...my impersonal socks".
-
Perhaps it's best we don't "go there", DR Ron.
-
Possibly. Still, I can't get the idea of impersonal clothing items out of my head.
-
Why would clothing need impersonals? Do they write a lot of notes?
-
Happy Birthday to BK's Darling Daughter!
-
The understudy went on for Michelle Williams when I saw Cabaret. She was very good- don't know her name. Also, when I saw Pippin a couple of months ago in DC the understudy did the role of the Ringmaster (is that what she's called?)
-
I don't know if he was considered the understudy or standby, but I first saw George Dvorsky when he went on for Douglas Sills in "The Scarlet Pimpernel." He was great! And I've seen him several times since.
-
I am home from City Center - Josh tells me orchestra parts were fine - and Chelsea Music. I did nod a bit, and I am very sleepy at the moment. Tomorrow I spend my day at City Center: afternoon dress rehearsal, which I look forward to immensely.

And this beauty.
-
Those are two beautiful photos!
-
Happy Darling Daughter Day!
-
Those are two beautiful photos!
Agreed!

Back from a rehearsal and then lunch at Nate 'n' Al's. I think I'm two songs away from being finished with the Kritzerland show song choices. It's a weird show because the cast is different than we normally do, which is two boys, three girls and a guest star. This time it's one boy, two girls, three kids and a guest star, with the guest star, JoAnne Worley, doing two songs. So, even though we're really light one performer this time, it's still sixteen songs, maybe seventeen if I decide to do a What If.

From DR Vixmom:
Actually, I've found store bought pumpkin is usually better than my homemade lol
I will remember that if I have to make a traditional pumpkin pie. When I made them fresh I made a fluffy texture using egg whites. It was different and I preferred it to traditional pumpkin pie.
-
DR Cilla I'm glad you are feeling better.
-
Good morning. I get to go birdwatching today! I don't have to sit in a courtroom and judge someone. Yay!
Yay! I am looking forward to photos.

I agree their names should never be published. I would not want to grant an interview if I was on a jury.
-
Nice photos DR John.

Stormy Weather (http://www.kritzerland.com/stormy_weather.htm) has just arrived...and I have to leave! I'm going to rehearsal, so I won't get to listen to it until tomorrow. But I will listen to it! I can't wait!
Be back later!

Actually, there is usually a question about family members being charged with crimes or prosecuted. Now, I don't know how the question was asked, but it's usually asked. Especially in cases where you use a questionnaire, which I'm guessing they would for the Arias trial

It was Leading Player when I did Pippin, don't know if they changed it now that it' more circus like

I would get the bakery not the frozen

DR Cilla I'm glad you are feeling better.
Thanks, me too. I came home and decided to go for a walk I did huff and puff up and down the hills, but it was still 87 degrees at that point so I wanted to get out
-
The high was 90 degrees today! The low will be 32 tonight.

That's warmer than it was here in Texas today.

Peach blossoms on the tree in the backyard. The loquat is heavy with the fruit. The fig is leafing. And the grass needs mowing. Spring.

yup
-
It feels good to have the house purged of "junk" and everything organized. Keith paid me the highest compliment, saying everything I did looks nice. He is the organizer, not me. Purging first made it much easier.
-
They didn't ask us if any family members had been prosecuted. We did, however, have to confess to any personal convictions or arrests.

That's interesting. I always want to know that. Sometimes people hold a grudge or think the person got off too easy
-
Watching "And So It Goes," with a very irritating performance from Michael Douglas (due mostly to the writing), but some great support from Francis Sternhagan and a funny cameo from Frankie Valli. And Diane Keaton does no wrong. Overly manipulative.
-
very tired
-
I would like to add to the count but I am falling alseep
-
I'm also dropping off.
-
Been a crazy busy day.
-
But I am enjoying working to the Kritzerland soundtracks for Mr. Hobbs and Dear Brigitte.
-
Need to get another 200 words written tonight.
-
But
-
Lets
-
See
-
if
-
this
-
can
-
us
-
four
-
One more.
-
Four!
-
Page four? Really?
-
Well! This should be fun!
-
Watched two episodes of House of Cards - some okay stuff but very uneven this season so far.
-
Not!
-
Page four? Really?
I'm working on it.
-
Personally, I love Kelli O'Hara. I thought she was fantastic in SOUTH PACIFIC.
-
I would love to see her in THE KING AND I.
-
Chas, I can't even imagine how the live performance of SOUTH PACIFIC could be any better than the DVD performance. I can watch it over and over.
-
Of course, watching Paulo Szot isn't bad either.
-
I guess I am going to have to try watching, at least, the first season of HOUSE OF CARDS.
-
I don't really care for Kevin Spacey as a person (like in interviews), but he is hard to fault as an actor.
-
I am still watching CHUCK.
-
I am nearing the end of Season Three.
-
But I really don't believe that binging a series is the best way to watch any program.
-
Small things that you might not even notice watching one episode a week, can be really annoying when you are watching three to five episodes in a row.
-
Binge watching a comedy series is bad enough, I can't even imagine what it is going to be like binge watching a dramatic series.
-
Today, I had to do my daily "to-do" list for today, but also the one for yesterday that got rained out.
-
Plus, I had lunch with my sister and her husband.
-
We ate at Applebee's. This was like my fourth time eating at Applebee's in the past month.
-
They do have a wide assortment of food choices on their menu.
-
Today I opted for their pick and choose appetizer sampler.
-
You can pick two, three, four, and five choices.
-
Today, I went for the choice of three items.
-
I had the wonton tacos, which I love.
-
And I had the sirracha shrimp.
-
And I also had the mini pot stickers.
-
The wonton tacos were, of course, my favorites.
-
I liked the sirracha shrimp, but three of the shrimp were very spicey, but the others were not.
-
The others were still good, they just weren't hot.
-
Page Five
-
The mini wontons didn't have much stuff inside of them.
-
They were supposed to be chicken and shrimp, but there wasn't enough stuff in them to tell.
-
It is none of my business, but next week I probably won't be around to bring the nightly post totals up.
-
I hope people won't leave it just to Vixmom and George to rack up the posts.
-
It is almost eleven o'clock, and I am very tired.
-
But there is no one here to be able to pass the torch.
-
Seth Rudetsky announced on his show today, the FALSETTOS was coming back to Broadway next season
-
However that doesn't mean it will really happen.
-
Last week, he mentioned another show that would be coming back to Broadway next season, but now I can't remember what he said.
-
Seth amazes me.
-
I don't think he ever takes a day off from his Sirius show.
-
His show is like 5 hours a day, 5 days a week.
-
Even when he flies somewhere to do a show or a concert, he still does his show from whatever city where he is performing.
-
Even when he was out on one of the Playbill Cruises, he still did his show from the ship.
-
Seth doesn't look anything like I expected him to look.
-
Well, folks, I need to get some sleep before the big St. Patrick Day tomorrow.
-
Flimsy excuse, but it is all I've got.
-
G'night!
-
By the time I finished reading all of DR TCB posts he was gone.
-
I went right to sleep tonight and then quickly woke up.
-
Page five? Really?
-
If I make a list of the things I need to do tomorrow maybe I will fall back to sleep.
-
'Night
-
Of course, watching Paulo Szot isn't bad either.
You got that right.
;)
-
Well, we got through act one of "Laughing Stock" one-and-a-half times tonight.
-
I had to call for lines several time. ::)
-
I had no trouble when I was going through my lines out in the lobby before the actual rehearsal time on stage...of course.
-
But I got through it all. :)
-
And since we're so close...
-
