Well, you've read the notes, the notes were hammered and knuckled, and now it is time for you to post until the hammered and knuckled cows come home.

I wonder if the High School production of A Chorus Line will use "This and That" instead of "Tits and Ass". If they can't use the real words why do it in the first place? And yes there are other swear words too. Teenagers use them today "as if"

Following up on yesterday's posting:

Yesterday, I had a "dispute" with the Texas DMV.

So, how did I get my "revenge"?

I went to the press.

It was fun putting on my publicist's hat again.

How many people are sitting in their homes and get an email offering them a role in a film?

I asked them to send me the script.

Good morning, all.

Thanks to my second wind last night, and even though I "could" have slept in a bit, I really didn't.  I'm just too geared to waking up at a certain time.  I can probably grab a nap later, though.  In fact, I could use a Benadryl to help with all the gunk I'm dealing with, and that will help to make me drowzy.

I've been listening to this new recording of Victor Herbert's 1922 musical comedy ORANGE BLOSSOMS.  I have friends involved so I'm treading cautiously, but I cannot say I like it much: tubby, ultra-high echo sound, which makes it appear to be an intimate comedy set in a large cathedral, or sewer, and a lot of noisy piano filligree that I am pretty certain Victor Herbert never even imagined, much less put on paper!

The fact that the info on the restoration is non-existant always bothers me, same with the Ohio Light Opera recordings, which play fast and loose with orchestrations and  textual edition and passes it off as authentic

Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Title: Re: HAMMERS AND KNUCKLES

I couldn't get with the BBC House of Cards.  The American I've enjoyed and not enjoyed - season one is great and the first episode of season two is one of the best episodes of a series I've ever seen.  From there they begin to struggle and go off in directions that aren't great, which happens with all series at some point.  So, there are occasional episodes that are good, but it's erratic.  Season three proved to be the same.

TOD:

Too many options.

The meal would likely start off with some selected sashimi with daikon shreds. Served with an aperitif on the side.

A relish area would have 30 or so pickled items, cheeses and charcuterie, crudites, etc. (I put these together most holidays and just love grazing.)

There would be a seafood course, maybe a lobster salad or scallops.

Main course would be roast chicken with butter and truffles under the skin. On the side, asparagus, a roasted red pepper stuffed with a lively mix of ground pork and vegetables, and a rustic sourdough bread with anchovy butter or an herb butter.

A garden salad with the freshest vegetables and a light extra-virgin olive oil dressing would follow.

The first dessert would be panna cotta.

The second dessert would be the freshest, ripest raspberries in a bowl of heavy cream.

The maybe cheese and port or a digestif.

I'm at home now instead of work because there was a power transformer that was having problems and the city needed to shut it down for a few hours.  Since it was estimated that it would be off longer than two hours, they (the library administration) decided to close the building...which is a good thing when your building has no power and no heat or air conditioning. :P

Still having trouble with Netflix delivery times. I thought it had improved--at least with returns--but arrivals are still late.

Are other Netflix DRs still having problems, too?

I spoke to one of the mail carriers about it the other day. She wasn't aware of the problem and she gets Netflix herself. She said she's been working 6 days/week. I imagine she hasn't had time to even sit down and watch anything.

TOD:

It's not the calories that do me in, it's the fat, sugar, and cholesterol. If I wasn't concerned with any of that, then

A big, green salad, using mesclum, romaine, or butter lettuce
Fettucini Alfredo
Homemade or other high-quality bread (Louise's Trattoria's will do nicely)
Chocolate mousse or ??

For me I don't want the consequences of getting sick after I eat.

Fettuccine Alfredo also came to mind.
Today I had a baked potato and I would have enjoyed lots of sour cream and chives on it.
Chocolate cake or something special like beignets, sour cream cheesecake.  Maybe a plate-full of apple fritters and other doughnuts.   Before dinner, a rich cream of mushroom soup and a fried something for an appetizer

Before dinner, no consequences, I would have several alcoholic beverages.  If cost doesn't matter, make one or two of them a 25 year glenlivet or dalwhinnie.

We average 2 days each way.

Good evening!  We spent today in Grand Turk.  A small, but very attractive little island.  Tomorrow afternoon, we arrive in Puerto Rico.  I now have the cold and cough from Hell.

G'night!

Watched Candide tonight. Well sung, but some of the staging, courtesy Elmore's favorite, Lonny Price, is dated and not as funny as everyone seems to think it is. Still, the music soared. And that is what makes Candide special.

And from the sublime to the Lovett. Listening to a Lyle Lovett CD I picked up for a buck. Well worth the music investment.

Jane, I looked for chocolate mousse at the store today to check the ingredients, but there was none on the shelf. I believe this version uses heavy cream. It's incredibly rich.

No wonder it is so good.  I'm not really a big mousse eater though I never have trouble finding other foods that are bad for me.

I read that as  " I am not much of a mouse eater" and I thought "of course not, she's a vegetarian!"

Ditto to these (especially the Fettucini Alfredo)...except for the salad.  What's the point of that??
