Title: HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL
Post by: bk on March 29, 2015, 12:45:22 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a little like high school but very musical, and now it is time for you to post until the high school cows come home.

Indeed! I still can't get over the quick turnaround on these things, from rehearsal to audience.

Had a pretty decent sleep, but one attended by the usual array of crazy dreams.

I went to see my friend's son in a school production of The Music Man many years ago.  He was good as Marian's brother, but Marian--oh, her singing was embarrassing.  Later I found out that her mother was the director.

I "so" hear y'all, re high school musicals.

For some reason, I thought this high school was one that specialized in the performing arts, had seasoned instructors, and didn't cut corners.  Maybe I'm conflating that with something else, but BK's experience sounds like just another show in Nowhere Land.

(Synth tracks???)

Good morning, all!  his is my first trip to Toyland in some time.  If the internet is up, I'll post from there.

I heard from our DR edisaurus last night. Things could be going better for her, and she could use some vibes.  I've asked her to come back to HHW, and I hope she does.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Positive vibes to our DR edisaurus!  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We return to ANTIGONE today after 10 days of spring break.  NO BOOKS are allowed onstage.....
And there are auditions at the barn for 7 Brides for 7 Brothers.....I may go there for awhile before ANTIGONE just to see who shows up.
I am also supposed to get the movie script from the man originally offered the part and give him a script of BAD SEED so he can read the men's parts.
But other than that, nothing is happening.
I have found, as MR BK alludes to in The Notes:  There is NO play or musical strong enough to survive a wrong-headed director......
i dreamed two television show pilots last night. I knew I was dreaming and I thought they were pretty good ideas and was telling myself that when I woke up I have to write them down right away. So I did.
But it turns out that part of my dream was waking up and writing them down. And the going back to sleep.
So when I woke up for real I could remember that I did not write it down.
By this time I could only remember one of them and even though the concept was interesting it was far from plausible. So when I have time I will go back and see if it will work.
The family is a combination of the Pruitts and Bundy of television past.
Sunday morning greetings!  Fr. Richard excused me from Lima today so I can assist Amy and Jen in hosting a baby shower for their sister Lauren.  We're providing the house, punch, coffee, brownies (made by Mary Linda) and cheese balls (made by me).  Jen was here yesterday to decorate and will be here about 12:30 with the rest of the food, including a cake.  Par-tay starts at 2:30.
The woman who wrote today's service and will provide today's guitar music wrote "Psalm" in every instance where it should have been "Palm." I wonder if she is confused why there are palm fronds everywhere on Psalm Sunday.
I think Psalm Sunday is one of my favorite new holidays.
Craig had a little league coach who would put his son in to play over other boys who were better or equally as good.  That was our one year in Connecticut.  One day I didn't feel well and it was freezing out.  I said to the coach if you aren't going to play Craig we are going home.  Craig played.
The Mac Award has already had a positive effect - I've been getting e-mails about buying the sheet music - it was supposed to be long done by now (the guy who's supposed to be preparing all this for a sheet music book has had everything for six months and has done NOTHING) - I got really irritated with him two days ago and he assures me he'll get Simply done in the next few days and then we'll sell it as a single sheet.
We were driving from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania.  We pulled into a rest stop not far down the road.  I took a short nap while Keith and the boys walked the dogs and bought me Pepsi and chocolate bars.
I opened email and read a local friend's husband had a heart attack and died this weekend.  I am very sad and upset.  He had a good number of medical problems but seemed to be doing well the last times I saw him.  I am left with nice memories as he was also happy.
Seventeen years ago when I first moved to Ashland I joined my friend's book group and the first meeting was at her house.  Through her I joined my hiking group.  During the first few years he often hiked with us.  Over the years I would see him at her house or at the gym.
Back from Sandy's housewarming.  It was nice.  I only knew a few people there.  I stayed about ninety minutes then came home.
Indeed! I still can't get over the quick turnaround on these things, from rehearsal to audience.
I know!  It seems like I only had a couple of weeks of rehearsal before we opened.
Good morning, all!  his is my first trip to Toyland in some time.  If the internet is up, I'll post from there.
I heard from our DR edisaurus last night. Things could be going better for her, and she could use some vibes.  I've asked her to come back to HHW, and I hope she does.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Positive vibes to our DR edisaurus!  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Today, I ushered for what I thought was a tour, but it's a local production of Ain't Misbehavin'.  It was great.  I love this show and they did very well with it.

After that, my friend Margo (who also ushered) and I went to Pizza Hut for dinner.  After that, I had to go to a union meeting where things got discussed and voted on.

The show is about two brothers who were abused as young teenagers and...that's pretty much all I can say about it.

It was really well done and both actors playing the brothers and the young girl who plays the third character were all very good in their roles.
