Good morning, all!  I slept an hour later than I like but it was no nice all bundled up in bed this morning.

I'm pondering my day.  I think I will work here today on the Moross score, run a few errands, including a trip to a locksmith for a set of keys to Toyland and perhaps the laundry.

I kept waking up through the night for no apparent reason, but it eventually added up to enough sleep.  Weird.  Anyway,

I had a lot of bizarre dreams last night, but I remember none of them now beyond a snippet of one that my brother Randy was in.

I think I will walk up to the hardware store now and get these keys made. I'm still not sure about the laundry at the moment. I'm feeling awfully lazy.
Title: Re: MY BREAKFAST WITH PETULA
Post by: elmore3003 on April 22, 2015, 08:07:27 AM
No good deed goes unpunished: making these keys is a favor for the Man from Philadelphia and the landlord of the building where Toyland resides.  So, I went to my hardware store at 84th Street and Broadway, and it's closed for expansion. It will not reopen until July,  So, where the fat hell in my neighborhood do I easily get keys made?  The answer is nowhere, so to accomplish this I have to locate a place and take a bus.  Am I pissed?

Very.

Why is Matthew McConnaughey's skin so orange?

Noted it in "Magic Mike", saw him looking orangish at the Oscar's a year ago and also noted it as being severely orange in "Interstellar".

It's really disconcerting.    And a bit "yuck", besides.

Have not yet received any of this month's Twilight Time releases despite the fact that shipping began a week ago.

I'm fairly certain I placed my order within the first hour that titles were available for pre-order.  They are supposed to ship today, I'm told.

Oh, well.

DR TCB, I caught up with my cousin Delores. She was off visiting with her son for several days. Here's what she told me:

She's on the Bausch & Lomb AREDS 2 program (Age-related Eye Disease Study, which was funded by NIH). It's for prevention of macular degeneration. I had thought it was for her glaucoma. B&L has three or more supplements for eye health that can be purhased over-the-counter. Each is based on the AREDS study, but with different formulas. The reviews I read were very good; most people saw vision improvement quickly.

For glaucoma, she has drops for her eyes, which are used preventively. She urges you to ask your eye doctor what your pressures are, rather than settling for an "Everything's fine" response. She's had glaucoma for many years and I don't recall her mentioning that's it's gotten any worse, but I do think it's best to take it seriously and take care of your eyes.

As for the cataracts, I'll need the surgery too at some point. Delores had an implant when she had her cataract surgery and can now see without glasses, which she loves.

Balch & Stengler's PRESCRIPTION FOR NATURAL CURES recommeds the following for glaucoma:

Magnesium     250 mg 2x/day
Vitamin C       1000 mg 3-4x/day
Fish oil           600 mg EPA and 400 mg DHA 1x/day
Alpha lipoic acid   100 mg 2x/day
Bilberry          160 mg 2x/day
Ginkgo biloba   60 mg 3x/day
Chromium       250-500 mcg 2x/day
Grape seed extract 100-200 mg daily
Rutin              20 mg 3x/day

These are all nutrients that are valuable to your general health, as well--not just your eyes. The fish oils are good for pain relief, too.

My question for ASK BK Day.....what is your favorite Olympic sport?

I always enjoy watching the ice dancing.  The pairs skating always seems to be about the jumps and too many couples attempt jumps that they're not ready for, so they tend to fall.  Ice dancing is graceful and the skaters don't have to worry about landing the jumps.

The U.S. figure skating squad won "team Gold" this past week.  Now that the Olympics have a "team" competiton in figure skating, there is also a world team competition.   Don't ask me how we won 'cause I'm not sure.  Our individuals did well in the short programs (Tracy Gold led all women, including the Russians).  Not so well in the long but ENOUGH to maintain the scoring lead for the Gold Medal.  It's notable that Jeremy Abbott was not on hand to screw the pooch again.   Jason Brown and Max Aaron represented the men.

Well, it's time for me to leave work and drive my friend Margo to the airport.  After I drop her off, I plan on going up to Seattle to Silver Platters to see if there's anything that I want to buy.  I haven't been in an actual "record store" in several years.  It'll be nice to browse through an actual section of a store that's nothing but musicals!

I am back on the same two eye drops that I used to use.  They worked great, so I am hoping that I didn't already do too much permanent damage.

I go back to the eye doctor on May 4.  I guess we will schedule the first of the surgeries.

Dear BK,

If you could chose the musical for the live performance on television, which musical would you choose?

Bells are Ringing!

Long day.  Had a patty melt for lunch and picked up one package.  Then I made a stab at a show order, which is nowhere near right yet - this one is REALLY hard - not enough ballads.

Then I spent two hours writing up something for something that's happening within the next week.

Be back later!

Well, Margo and her youngest daughter got dropped off at the airport without any incident HOWEVER, when I went up to Seattle to go to Silver Platters, I didn't realize that they had closed! :'(

I guess I should've looked that up before I left today, but who'd'a thunk it.  The building did have sign saying that they're just moving, to SoDo...wherever that is...but not until June or July (I can't remember which).

Well, I looked up Silver Platters (http://www.silverplatters.com) and it looks like that location has actually already moved.  If I had looked it up this afternoon, I could've gone to another location, but who'd'a thunk it that I would've needed to??

Tomorrow, I will be in outpatient surgery bright and early. I will keep you updated as to the results. I'm a bit embarrassed, but a friend of mine had me enroll on GoFundMe so I could raise money toward my medical bills and copayments, especially my upcoming abdominal surgery in June.
