Well, you've read the notes, the notes fervently hope and pray for a Monumental Miracle May, and now it is time for you to post until the Monumental Miracle May cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AFICIONADO!
-
Congrats, BK, on the live Indigogo campaign! :D
-
I have contributed. :)
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning - I'm falling behind again and must catch up!
-
Good morning, all! I will be E&T most of the day. Around 9:30 I will head down to Carol Studios fr the morning band rehearsal and afternoon sitzprobe for ZORBA. I look forward to it.
Today ends my Encores! work for a while. i still have the work on Moross' Gentlemen, Be Seated! and some work on the orchestra score for The Golden Apple for the next couple of months, and I hope that will keep me solvent until something else comes along.
-
Sorry about your uncle DR Jane.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Good morning, all.
Most excellent vibes and xylophones for BK and Kritzerland on the miracle campaign.
-
I need more sleep. And more time to catch up.
-
Haven't thought about Zardoz in years. It was one of those movies that the local revival movie house revived quite frequently back in the day before video. But for some reason I never saw it. Maybe because it was R-rated and I wasn't 17 yet. Though I never got carded at any of the R-rated Bergman or Fellini films, I never wanted to push it. Always enjoyed the look of the Zardoz preview though.
-
Good morning, all.
Got my eye appointment this morning, and the last weekend of shows begins tonight.
Coffee!
-
good morning to all
-
Have a GREAT day with ZORBA, DR Elmore!!
-
And I don't mean DOCTOR Zorba.
-
Busy next three days no time for movies.
-
Will be meeting with the surgery nurse today after work.
-
BK
I do have a question about the perks.
The ones that say the KRITZERLAND'S NEXT XX RELEASES
Are we allowed to pick and choose which ones we would like or are they what ever those XX release are?
-
Caught up a little, but maybe will get up to date on the weekend.
-
Now off to the tax office.
-
BK: Duplicate sentence in the email blast (not the notes).
But mostly we hope you'll contribute because you've loved the projects we've done and appreciate the care we put into them. But mostly we hope you'll contribute because you've loved the projects we've done and appreciate the care we put into them.
Edit: (Oy! Of course there's nothing to be done about it, being a sent email. Sorry to be so helpful!) :)

The campaign looks great, bk.

HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY!

Something I didn't consider when I made the appointment for my annual eye exam:
IF this is one in which he wants to dilate my eyes (and I'm pretty sure it will be -- or maybe they all are, I don't remember), doing so might not be such a good idea when I'm playing a show tonight. But that's silly, right? There will be eight hours from drops to downbeat, so there's no way I'd still be feeling any residual effects from it then. Right? Am I right, sir? Am I right?

Happy Friday!
TOD: CD's: Beverly Sills sings Victor Herbert
"A Kiss in the Dark" is one of my favorite Herbert songs.
-
I have contributed. :)
Me, too.
-
You should be ok DR Chas.

TOD:
No new DVDs to watch. I might be forced to watch something from my 4000+ DVD collection.
::)

Friday morning greetings! Today I'm taking lunch to Mom and getting myself ready for an overnight trip (Saturday-Sunday) to Columbus for the AAUW state convention.
-
I somehow got kicked off the Kritzerland e-blast list a long, long ago. There is no place on the website to sign up for it again, that I can find.
He's onto to us!
-
DR JANE, I am sure your aunt & cousins will understand.
-
What a deal!
I am now a Kritzer Funder - and Happy Birthday to Kritzerland!
-
Thanks to all for the vibes and thoughts.
We had a GREAT audience last night, and they were laughing at all the jokes.....even the jokes in the lyrics.....and the songs all got nice applause.
I got some good laughs in my first two appearances.....and by the time I came back at the end of the show and announced that I was an undercover FBI agent, they fell out of their chairs! I could not have asked for better laughs.
AND I received applause on my egress.....which means they liked me OR they were glad to see me go.
All in all a most satisfying evening. All the kids were so excited to get the reactions they got.....and the director, composer-lyricist, and writer were very pleased....
ONE MORE NIGHT!
OMG LOOK AT THIS WE ARE SOLD OUT FOR TONIGHT!

DR JANE, I am sure your aunt & cousins will understand.
My cousins will be fine. I feel bad about not being there for my aunt though I know she will have plenty of people to be there for her.
-
DR Jrand I'm glad your evening went so very well.
-
Thanks DR JANE!
-
The new Kritzerland ELITE Collection sounds especially exciting! :D
-
I've seen ZARDOZ many times and am completely fascinated and frustrated by it at the same time. John Boorman, a talented film maker, has so many ideas in it, maybe too many. There's a lot of early 1970s weirdness which can be fun if you're a fan of the late American International Pictures-Roger Corman non-Poe films. The one I'm thinking of is Gas-s-s-s which shares some of the same sensibilities although on a much more modest budget. Besides the lush Irish countryside, for fans of Sean Connery, you see him in essentially a loincloth for almost the entire picture, during the time he had just completed his swan song for the Broccoli Bond films (I don't count the 1980s remake of Thunderball).
I wish I could afford the new issue of the movie as I have had a copy ever since the late 1970s when I first saw the movie on a late Saturday showing on independent NYC television. Even though the trimming for TV didn't help, it still made me a fan. I've shown the movie to friends and it is definitely a movie that is one that you really like or really can't stand, no middle ground. You just have to sign on for the ride and let it be what it is. Not sure what that is, but I for one like it.
-

Everyone is different, of course, but I just had my eyes dilated a few weeks ago and the effects only lasted a couple of hours. For others, it might last longer.

Congrats to you and your cast, Jrand!

As it happens, no dilation because I opted for the fancy schmancy retinal picture they can take now. So, just a little numbness left over from the glaucoma pressure test. (Which I passed!) :)
-
Last night, I went to see "Avengers: Age of Ultron." I think the movie is what you'd expect from a Marvel movie...lots of action, bits of humor and a story line that actually makes sense. The visuals are stunning. If you've never seen an Avengers or Marvel movie and are interested, DO NOT start with this one. You will be completely lost. But if you're familiar with the Marvel universe, I'm sure that you'll enjoy it.

The best part was the theater. This particular place has reserved seats and they are all recliners! I'd never heard of this and it was so cool! There was plenty of room and you got to recline at the movie theater. I'll see later if the couple of pictures that I took turned out and post them. It was dark, but they might turn out. Well, I now have to leave home and go to work.
Be back in a bit.

Did they offer you an 8x10 or a set of wallet-sized?

I should ask about this new test when we find a new eye doctor.

The pictures of the movie theater and the recliners that I took on my eight-year-old flip phone are too dark. But it was still really cool!
Next time (and there will be a next time), I'll make sure that I get better pictures. ;D
-
Singdaw, send me an e-mail and I'll add you onto the list. Constant Contact seems to have a mind of its own.
-
I've been up since ten, dealing with a lot of stuff. Campaign is moving along so far - even though it went up at midnight no one really saw it until this morning.
-
Thanks DR GEORGE.
I saw ZARDOZ at the drive as part of a double feature with a movie that could have been EXCALIBUR.....I am not sure.
I didn't quite understand it, but perhaps it is now time to view it again. Some of it, especially the animation, seemed a bit Monty Python-esque to me.
-
Eye, 2, am looking forward to the Elite Collection!
-
Back from some lunch - a cup of chili and a ham and Swiss on rye. Then picked up packages - books are in and will ship out this weekend.
-
Many thanks to those who've done the Indiegogo thing - much appreciated.

I would like to see the recliners as we have them on our mind. I'm not sure if I mentioned, we have a small room without a window as the neighbor is on the other side (boy does it feel strange to have a neighbor so close). We want to make it a media room and will want a reclining love seat in there for tv viewing.

I shall return anon.

It's not only sunny, but it's warm! I started to get real warm just sitting in my car for a moment with the windows rolled down a bit.
-
It is smoky here. I read the smoke was coming from Siberia again and covering the entire Pacific Northwest. Keith and I thought it was due to the large control burn yesterday, silly us.
-
We were very productive this morning. We chose a dark wood floor and the tile for the kitchen backsplash in our condo. I have always wanted a dark wood floor. We are very pleased with the photos we saw. Our contractor says the woman at the tile/floor store is very good with colors. We hope so as we are trusting her to match with the cabinets & granite we picked out.
-
The only thing I am duplicating from our kitchen here is the sink. I like it and don't really want to go sink shopping. We will do it in a different color.
-
So far I am avoiding a trip to Vancouver before we move. I hope all goes as smoothly with the granite. If our slab has been sold I might have to go approve new ones.
-
I guess my aunt did not expect me to go to the service. It just started, which explains why no one told me when it was going to be. I'm glad I looked for an obit before calling my aunt. I really didn't expect to see one yet.
If we weren't going through the move I could have flown down this morning. At least I don't have to feel bad about missing it, and I am glad they did it so quickly. I know where he will be buried as it is next to my cousin.
My aunt and uncle were married 67 years.

I think you may of missed my question from this morning to I will repost it.
I do have a question about the perks.
The ones that say the KRITZERLAND'S NEXT XX RELEASES
Are we allowed to pick and choose which ones we would like or are they what ever those XX release are?
-
The sitzprobe was wonderful. Zoë Wanamaker is so fragile and heartbreaking, her "Happy Birthday" is a real tearjerker. I got to speak briefly to John Kander, but he was really tied up with the score, director, and conductor. John Turturro will be fine once he relaxes into singing with an orchestra - his first time today! - and Marin and Santino are solid. I think the production will be good.

If I've read comments Bruce has made at Film Score Monthly Messageboard correctly, you'll have the option of which releases to take. If I'm incorrect, Bruce will say so.

And if anyone is considering doing the campaign, if you use Paypal it's better for us. The guy who set up the page enabled it to be Paypal or just cc's, but we don't actually see that cc money until fifteen days after the close of the campaign.

Sorry, BK. I meant to use paypal, but filled out the credit card info out of habit.

Kind of a gloomy day here, with temps in the high 50's and low 60's. It's fine by me--I'm in no hurry for the hot and humid summer days.

I used my debit card. Can we go back in and change it (I haven't looked)? And if we come into some extra money after pledging (or not using some extra money that wasn't needed for something else), can we up our pledge?
-
Well, Staples, thank you and f--k you for shipping the wrong item. Now i am stuck here tomorrow waiting for your return pickup and unable to finish something at Toyland thanks to your shipping error. Just really pisses me off. Dammit.

Page Four...just sayin'.
;)

And now, I'm off to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. I'm working concessions for a local production of a ballet version of "Peter Pan (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/upcoming-events/2015/5/1/peter-pan.html)" (they're using Flying with Foy from Las Vegas!). I probably won't stay for the whole thing, but we'll see.
Until later.
-
Interesting...the WCPA listing doesn't say which ballet version they're performing, but the artwork very definitely shows Disney's Tinkerbell:

Yes, you can always pledge more. See if you can switch it to Paypal - it may be too late once you've done it, but I'm curious about it.
-
Two hours no posts? Page four? Really?
-
Oh my!
-
This doesn't look good.
-
Do people really go out on Friday nights?
-
After working all week, I was always too tired to go out after work.
-
Of course, most of the time I was doing a performance on Friday night.
-
I have to go in and make my pledge tomorrow.
-
I m grateful that I can use PayPal.
-
Damn that must be a wealthy ballet troupe using Fly by Foy.
-
When I played Hook, hiring Fly By Foy was the reason we ended up doing the play instead of the musical.
-
Personally, I would have preferred the musical, and used some rope around the waist for the flying.
-
I am sure the theater's insurance company would have given a thumbs down on that.
-
I really had to stop and think how to spell thumb. I guess it is a word I seldom type.
-
I loved playing Hook, but I missed doing the songs.
-
And I got to play Mr. Darling, too.
-
Mr. Walkin may be the only actor not to play both parts.
-
Playing Smee and Mr. Darling didn't really work.
-
I assume that version of PETER PAN is available on DVD.
-
Although it was roundly disliked.
-
I still enjoyed it.
-
I guess I am just happy to see live musicals being made for TV.
-
Is the next one THE MUSIC MAN?
-
And who is playing Harold Hill?
-
My brain has shut down for the evening.
-
One more.
-
Five!
-
Lately I have been having nights where I don't need to take any pain pills until bedtime.
-
But the there are other days, like today, where I was in need by 6:00 pm.
-
Damn it. The anarchists are starting their annual property damage in Seattle.
-
The police are already using rubber bullets and pepper spray.
-
I say that any of these jerks with handkerchiefs covering their faces should have to remove their masks or be arrested.
-
Worst of all, I am missing tonight's episode of GRIMM.
-
These punks need a good spanking.
-
Finally they are returning to regular programming.
-
May Day is the one day each year in Seattle where the morons come out in force and destroy private property.
-
They could at least wait until GRIMM is over.
-
Fortunately, I think the GRIMM season finale is next week and not tonight.
-
Well, I am suddenly at a loss for words.
-
I know, I know, Larry. Very rare.
-
I hope that Vixmom isn't still at work.
-
I would like to think that she had a nice dinner and a quiet evening at home.
-
But I doubt it.
-
what is going on in Seattle?

Tonight there was a reception to announce the next season of our symphony. It's the 100th season and they've planned some innovative stuff.
-
Opening night is Audra McDonald
-
Cilla that must have been great fun - I would love to see CSN

The next is Night at the Museum with a number of instruments from the National Music Museum some being played for the first time in years and years and years, with a piece that features that instrument. Easier to see the picture than to describe this. There will also be special feature with America's largest Indonesian percussion orchestra of 50 instruments
-
The next night is Ballroom with a Twist with two dancing with the stars pros, finalists from So you think you can dance, dancing while the symphony plays and American Idol finalists singing.
-
The next is the traditional Christmas Spectacular
-
The next is going to be selected, presented and performed by the members of the orchestra. So they get to decide what they want to play. Sounds like fun

The next is called A Musical Homecoming and features musicians from Sioux City who have gone on to better things including Matthew Baker on double bass, Ben Baron on clarinet, Eric Grossman on Violin, Ryan Kisor on trumpet, Stephanie March on Cello and Richard Steinbach on Piano
-
The next is Copland Fanfare for the Common Man, Copeland Lincoln Portrait and Beethoven's Ninth with a 300 voice choir
-
Condolences to darling Jane.
-
I had a fun conversation with dear reader Jeanne today.
-
The encore is Gil Shaman on violin and then we all go outside to a block long tent set up like a night club with drinks and food where there will be a fusion of Mercury Soul with Mason Bates doing the hip hop dj thing interspersed with different classical numbers and breaks in between to mingle, drink eat....it sounds pretty crazy, but our conductor/musical director is a really inventive person and they all seem to work out really well, so it should be interesting
-
Finished watching one motion picture, part of another, and I'm going back and forth between the theatrical and uncut versions of The Fantasticks. They really should have left it in the original cut. Coppola cut way too much stuff and it's just not helpful at all - the only thing it does is make it shorter, not better. The theatrical cut is in standard definition, squeezed to a 2.20 ratio and has faded color, but it's just great to have it.
-
So that's what I learned tonight. Ryan Haskins, our conductor, said he loves it here because he can do all these innovative things and the community supports him and the orchestra. I'm really looking forward to this upcoming season.

Cilla you really have an amazing amount of cultural opportunities there

Good evening. Back from (you know). There were a few cast changes for various reasons, but it was a very good show tonight. Surprisingly good.

We do, indeed. It's pretty amazing.

Of course it's getting late and I'm brain dead, but is there a place to do that? I suppose there really might not be, but that doesn't seem right, either. If anyone knows a way to do this, let me know and I'll change mine over to PayPal.
Indiegogo should clearly state the difference between directly entering a credit card and using PayPal.

I appreciate everyone's help to date. If any of you can, please share my medical fundraiser with others. I am on course for June 16th! I need all the help I can get. http://www.gofundme.com/se6tv8gg
I spoke with my chief oncologist today and she confirmed that the surgeon discussed my case with her. No lab results yet, don't know why, but she told me not to worry. My oncologist has been concerned that I am in danger of having my intestines strangulating because they are outside the abdominal wall. So, even with the approaching surgery to correct the hernia and prevent this from happening, she wants me to be very vigilant, and especially not do anything that could strain the area further. She said that she didn't help get me this far to have me die from an intestinal issue.
My oncologist: http://azcc.arizona.edu/profile/sarah-kratz
The chief oncologist who followed me carefully during my extended treatments in hospital (we would discuss opera, one of his interests): http://azcc.arizona.edu/profile/andrew-yeager
They among several others have helped me get this far and I am grateful.

I don't know how it's set up - when my guy gets home tonight we'll look at it, but it's probably too late.

DR Dan, Vibes you don't injure yourself any more before your surgery!

After doing some more checking we've discovered that even Paypal funds are held until the campaign is funded. Right now we're a sixty day campaign - we all thought the Paypal stuff came through instantly but now that we know that's not true, if we continue to do well over the weekend we're probably going to change it to a thirty day campaign.
-
And if anyone is considering doing the campaign, if you use Paypal it's better for us. The guy who set up the page enabled it to be Paypal or just cc's, but we don't actually see that cc money until fifteen days after the close of the campaign.
Sorry, BK. I meant to use paypal, but filled out the credit card info out of habit.
I used my debit card. Can we go back in and change it (I haven't looked)? And if we come into some extra money after pledging (or not using some extra money that wasn't needed for something else), can we up our pledge?
Yes, you can always pledge more. See if you can switch it to Paypal - it may be too late once you've done it, but I'm curious about it.
I've been looking around and can't find any link to change (or even cancel) my pledge, so I don't think that I can change it to PayPal...but I'll keep looking.

Ahh.

Damn that must be a wealthy ballet troupe using Fly by Foy.
I was told that they rented the sets and costumes from a group in Las Vegas. They were some nice sets (drops and things like that) and costumes! They must have some money.
-
When I played Hook, hiring Fly By Foy was the reason we ended up doing the play instead of the musical.
The Evergreen State College put on "Peter Pan" (the musical) about 20 years ago or so (I played pirate Bill Jukes) and hired Flying By Foy. That wasn't the only reason, but that production (I found out later) lost $35,000!! :o
-
Playing Smee and Mr. Darling didn't really work.
I don't think it worked, either. :P
-
I assume that version of PETER PAN is available on DVD.
I don't know about the DVD (I haven't checked), but the CD is available.
-
I guess I am just happy to see live musicals being made for TV.
Actually, I am also.
-
Is the next one THE MUSIC MAN?
Fox is going to do their own live production of "The Rocky Horror Show." ::)
Discuss.
-
And who is playing Harold Hill?
Hopefully, no one who has already played Harold Hill on TV.
-
Opening night is Audra McDonald
Nice! I'd love to see her in concert.
-
I did see the national tour of "The Secret Garden" (by Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon) and Audra (Ann) McDonald played the Ayah. Amanda Naughton played Martha (she eventually was on "Remember WENN"...I LOVED that show!) and Roger Bart as Dickon. I didn't know who any of them were at the time. A few years later, I found my program and recognized them after the fact.

well I must sleep- I have the dentist in the early am
And I must sleep...I have to get up early. I HATE to get up early on a Saturday, but I must. I'm going to my union's treasurer training in SeaTac, right next to the SeaTac airport. It's about an hour north of hear and it starts at 9:30 am, so I want to leave Tumwater by 8:00 am, at the latest. Hopefully, there won't be any traffic.
Good night, all!
