Well, you've read the notes, the notes had croquettes, croquet, and a Lime Rickey, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently playing cow croquet but not eating chicken croquettes out of solidarity with the chickens.
-
And the word of the day is: PROLEGOMENON!
-
First post after BK!
-
SnoopDog, i read your post, last night, that you were taking a training class to become a welding consultant. I thought that sounded a bit butch!
-
Are you not familiar with bridezilla??
-
Jeanne, you were asking about the mobile home (not trailer) park. There is a very nice senior park (over 55 only) in Puyallup, which is just east of Tacoma. It is called San Souci Mobile Estates. It probably has around 200 homes. It has a pool and exercise equipment, and a large meeting hall where they hold a lot of activities (i.e. pot lucks) The people there tend to watch out for their neighbors, which can be a good thing.
-
Not much conversation here at three thirty in the morning.
-
I think that would be great if BK took that role. A 70 year old man. What a stretch!!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
DR TCB - thanks for the thought, but I don't know 'nuthin 'bout welding. :)
-
And yes, DR Laura - I would be paid for my trouble.
-
Are you not familiar with bridezilla??
It's Minnesota. People are nice here.

Good Morning. Not quite Friday yet!

I woke up at 3:30am this morning and a received a very sad text message. A friend's husband died this morning. I don't have all the details but they transferred to another hospital so he could be operated on at 3pm yesterday and he had been taken off the ventilator.
I was there at the beginning of their relationship. We both worked together when it was Kinkos and he was a customer. I even introduced them.
-
Good morning, all! I was wide awake at 2:00am, filled with anxiety for my friend Karl Greenberg, whom I last saw on a subway maybe 10 years ago. I hope that he and his family are okay, so I'll track him down today and ask.
I have a quiet day today. This evening, I will see goddaughter Charlotte in an evening of Chekhov one acts.
-
Sorry to hear about your friend's husband, DR Michael Shayne.
-
DR vixmom, halfway through the GOT disc, it froze, and I have no idea what will happen next. So, I'm on hiatus while the new disc arrives. I will rely on you when I get back to it.
-
That is very sad, DR Michael. So sorry.

Today could be a momentous day at the US Supreme Court.

Lime Rickeys for everyone!

Thursday morning greetings! I crashed quite early last night, west-coast time, so of course I'm up early this morning. Nita and I are meeting at 9:30 to catch the trolley tour around the city.
-
Condolences to DR Michael's friend...

I feel like crap today. I have a bad cold. Who gets colds in the summer? :(
Tuesday i had a tickle in my throat. Yesterday my nose was running a bit. Today i have a bit of a cough and my nose is running like crazy. please go away!
Btw, I am pretty sure it is a cold, but my sister was wondering if it could be allergies. I really don't think so (i would think more itchy eyes). But how do you know for sure if you have a cold and not allergies?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Everyone gets colds in the summer, and then they complain that they have a "summer cold". I grew up hearing that a "summer cold" was always especially miserable. Which is silly, because what cold isn't?
And much of the time, it IS allergies. Several years ago I had one so bad that I went to the doctor, who told me it was allergies. I was amazed. I am still amazed.
-
Supreme Court vibes to all!

TOD:
Back when I was a kid, we had a summer home in Soap Lake, WA, and we played croquet on our front lawn regularly. Actually, I was quite good at it.
-
My doctor informed me yesterday that I'm going to need surgery in a couple of weeks.
I have a tear in the Achilles tendon of my left foot and it needs to be repaired or it could rupture. Post-surgery, I'm told that I will be hobbling around for the better part of a year.
Bummer!
(Please, no jokes on MY LEFT FOOT.)

TOD
Our family played croquet in the summer for years, in Columbus, and probably some in Florida after that, though I mostly remember it in my grandparents' sizable yard up north. To the best of my knowledge, croquet was just about the only outdoors game activity any of us really took part in.
For extra credit: I've never had a Lime Rickey, but I had many a Cherry Lime Rickey at the wonderful Delores (I never remember which way it was spelled) Restaurant in L.A. I've only come across one or two places in recent years that have them on the menu, but they do turn up now and then. Of course they're never as good as those, but it is a very sweet/tart refreshing beverage.

Another damp day in Manhattan. I guess I will work on the Moross score instead of going to the NYPL.
-
I need to schedule a haircut, too. What day? what day?

My eyes aren't itchy at all. But it seems like i am going thru cold stages. If i bend my runny nose just drips right out. And i had a bit of a cough. I can't imagine any of these things could be allergies, but who knows.
I did take an advil cold and sinus and am starting to feel better, so that is good.

Sports I've happily engaged in...
Croquet (since you happened to mention it).
Badminton
Tennis
Swimming
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe six hours of sleep, which is better than three.
-
I hate croquet.
I think it is because the few times I was forced to play, no one ever explained the rules to me....the game seemed very arbitrary to me....so I have never attempted to play it again.
I enjoy playing tennis and handball (though not so much in the last few years)....
-
My cast was walking on eggshells after the "know your set" tirade.....but they made their entrances and exits correctly!

One cast member said: You shouldn't yell at us, we are all volunteers.
I just said: So am I.

Pickleball, anyone?

Good answer, DR Jrand64.

DR Michael, condolences on your sad news.

The only good things about summer colds are the good weather and watermelon. Eat lots of watermelon and drink the juice. It really helps.

I am in love with the Muslim lady managing the copy center at my local Staples. She is so fantastic at her job and she puts up so well with my madness. I just got from Dan the 3rd edit of Act One of Gentlemen, Be Seated! in 13 pdf files. I burned a CD-rom and took it to her. Within 30 minutes i left with two 2-sided copies of Act One ready for me to head to Columbia to edit with the full orchestra score.
If I ever get back to a recording office, I'm going to hire her to be the office manager. She is wonderful.

DR vixmom, halfway through the GOT disc, it froze, and I have no idea what will happen next. So, I'm on hiatus while the new disc arrives. I will rely on you when I get back to it.
I've been trying to record the last five episodes of G.o.T. from OnDemand for a friend and all three of the episodes that I've done so far have stopped in the middle of the playback! What's that all about? I had to record episodes 6 and 7 twice each, but today I set up episode 8 for the FOURTH time! I don't know what's going on...unless somehow they now can tell that I'm recording them and are taking measures to prevent that, but I've never had this problem before.

Hi Ron :)

We have another new favorite restaurant. This one has a delicious veggie bean burger and great coleslaw.

Hello, everyone.
-
I had the day to do as I pleased--and I did. How nice! Why doesn't this happen more often??
-
About 2:30 and hungry, I went out for a late lunch, but the main boulevard near my house was closed! What? Why? I had to circle around, but managed to have a nice lunch. I'm told that President Obama is in the area. And tomorrow it will be Hillary. Sigh.

It can be very difficult to tell. Allergies can manifest in any number of ways. I've found that Sambucol can work for both.

Glad you found someone so competent and pleasant. My local Staples has a very patient and pleasant woman in the copy center. I wonder where they find them? Cloning would be helpful.

Going to miss the ball game tonight. The shot today is making me feel not so good. It will pass, but I think I need to stay home and rest
-
What a kooky day.
-
Teddy coifed me and I got all the latest dirt and boy did he have some dirt.
-
Then I had a turkey sandwich - no fries, no onion rings.
-
Picked up packages, came home, had a bunch of merde to wade through and hopefully all is fine now.
-
Then I had my first meeting. Someone just picking my brain for info - nice person and happy to give my thoughts.
-
Then home, eBlast sent out for the final ten days of our Indiegogo campaign - this is the key time and time for the big push.
-
Well, my invoicing and monthly reports are done...and just in time to leave.
-
Now it's time for me to head for home. I have some TV watching to do up in my bedroom, so I'll have my tablet up there to post from while I'm watching stuff.
Until later.

And i am home from this Chekhov reading, it was depressing: the director, who claims to have Broadway credits and actually teaches voice and acting at one of the Manhattan colleges, is a complete and utter fraud. Charlotte was quite good and very funny in "The Engagement" and completely lost in "The Brute," a very funny piece for three actors, all of whom were in a different play. the maid Louka (it's supposed to be a male role!) was performing some Irish comedy and she was quite good, Charlotte seemed to think she was in something natural and missed the over-the-top melodrama, and the title character thought he was doing a Matthew Broderick role for Neil Simon instead of an Alan Arkin rowdy Russian. The final piece, sentimental drivel for two good actors, was pathetic performed by two mediocre ones. Asa for the other one act, "The Celebration," the less said, the better.
What i find sad is the number of incompetents working in show biz, and I'm so much more talented and unemployed. There. I said it.

I guess that's one production to Chekhov my list DR ELMORE.

That's a bummer DR DRUXY....I hope you didn't just sign up for rhumba lessons!

Had a very nice dinner meeting at the Eclectic Cafe. Now, I suspect we'd better get off this damn page right NOW. We're not even at 100 posts yet. What IS going on?

George 1/2 the people on Long Island have illegal apartments. Because of the ridiculous cost of living and high taxes many cannot afford to stay in their homes without the income and many cannot find an affordable place to live anywhere else but in someone's converted basement or 2nd floor or basement

I got that To Live and Dine in LA book of LA menus. For me, a major disappointment - mostly a bunch of essays and text. Covers of menus but very few insides. Thankfully Kelbo's inside is featured but curiously not the outside. It's actually just what you'd think it would be - pretentious, trying to show through menus how LA's diversity happened - why not just celebrate the menus and LA food through the years. I'm not sure if this represents all or even most of the library's collection, but frankly I have more menus in my personal collection than this and some great ones that aren't featured in this book at all. Naturally my father's restaurant is nowhere to be found, but then again, neither is Langer's. Such a shame that they didn't contact me about this, but then again I would be very surprised if any of the people involved are actually FROM LA.

I don't know how you survive those long days.
It is getting a little old, quite frankly. If I hadn't gotten so darned used to eating and living indoors I'd quit

At the Eclectic Cafe I had a small Caesar, which was smaller than usual, and their appetizer mac-and-cheese, which really can't be more than about two ounces of actual pasta. So, not bad.
-
Listening to Michael Giacchino's soundtrack for Inside Out - I like most of it very much, especially its main theme. I also love the cover of the CD.
-
We're in our final ten-day push for the Indiegogo campaign - eBlast went out at four and we've gone up a percentage point in two hours.

We need a couple of really wealthy people to come in at higher levels - that would be very helpful. And it's not like we don't have Kritzerland customers who could and yes, that includes you, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan. :)

I'm just sitting here imagining the L.A. restaurant/menu book BK could author.
-
Though I will mention before departing, for the benefit of Chas, who I know appreciates such things, I had a very fine Reuben sandwich tonight with perfectly sliced corned beef nice and lean, just the right amount of sauerkraut on perfectly grilled bread. Served with whole grain mustard. And thousand island dressing on the side. I tried the dressing first and it was good. Then tried the np mustard and it was great

Although there was much much work that needed to be done I left the office and joined a bunch of church members and sone of their guests to a Theology on Tap night at a local bar. Do people make a distinction between "mobile home park" and "trailer park"? I thought the term "mobile home" was just marketing jargon. But the place you describe sounds very nice.
Jeanne, at least in the Northwest, trailer parks are normally limited to single-wide mobiles and travel trailers. Most of them are in poor condition. Mobile home parks are normally made up of double-wide and triple-wide mobile homes. Many of them have strict rules regarding upkeep and the condition of the mobiles and your lot. Some require storage sheds and covered Carports. Others, like the one I used to live in, require attached garages and landscaped yards.
-
It was a very interesting and stimulating evening and a much needed respite after an especially trying day
-
And the sandwich was marvelous
-
And on that note....D minor ....I depart
-
If you live in a mobile home park, you are well aware of the difference between mobile home parks and trailer parks. There is a saying regarding trailer trash.
