Well, you've read the notes, the notes were TGIF (Terrifically Great Interesting Factoids), and now it is time for you to post until the TGIF cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SPRUIK!
-
BK, as of right now, the link (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/kritzerland-10th-anniversary-and-keep-on-kritzing/x/9165600%23/story) in your notes doesn't point to a valid page.
-
And now, to bed. Have a good day, all.
-
DR vixmom - your post last night made me guffaw. ;D
-
I always thought that TGIF stood for Twits, Geeks, & Itinerant Freaks.
-
In other words, just another day at the ranch.
-
Rime Lickeys, on the house!
-
Morning all.
That is all.

We are one of the last people on the entire earth to still have a copper wire real phone landline and I will NEVER get rid of it until Verizon stops offering the service, we had phone service during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and before that we had 2 power outages in NYC but we still had phone service. We also get our Internet through the land line via
DSL (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_subscriber_line)
Well, our phone service is not working at the moment. The one other person in our building who has a land line has a working phone so it's not the building or the neighborhood. This means we have no phone and no Internet so I won't be reading or posting much (not that I post much anyway) until it gets fixed. Verizon is supposed to be at the building on Saturday to look at/fix the problem but who knows if that will actually happen. Trying to contact Verizon to schedule a repair is extremely difficult. I think everyone at Verizon has been replaced by robots both on line and on the phone. If you call you go through an automated routine (Anthony did this from Long Island where he is currently) but I checked the Web site from here at the office and the "Open Ticket" does seem to be in the system.
That's the news from Chelsea.

Good morning, all.
This household is another of the landline holdouts. Sure, it's money that could be utilized elsewhere, and we did lose phone service for a day or two after the Halloween Nor'easter and Hurricane Sandy. But it was also the very first thing to be restored, and you still can't touch it for dependable sound quality and comfort when on a call lasting longer than two minutes.
Coffee!

Friday morning greetings! Nita and I had a lovely day yesterday touring San Diego. We lunched in Old Town and shopped a bit. Caught the shuttle back to our hotel from Seaport Village in time to pick up our convention materials and freshen up for dinner. I crashed as soon as dinner was over.
-
DR Vixmom, Richard isn't here on vacation yet. He's in northwest Indiana at the diocesan synod and he'll go from there to Lima for Sunday church. We'll meet in San Francisco on Monday.
-
Today is a full convention day - bye for now!
-
Good morning, all! I stayed up too late reading and I slept in as a consequence. I'm thinking that I will head down to the NYPL today and stop at the pharmacy for my monthly meds.
I have no other news at the moment. I need coffee.
-
Convention vibes for DR GINNY.
DR SINGDAW that clip of Some Other Time is just beautiful! Wow! Thanks for posting.
DR JEANNE I think the new moon this week is having an influence on many people...
-
Well....last night was a great run thru. One reason it was great is that they cut more than 30 minutes off the run time. The lines were much better, the cue pickups were better (less acting OFF the text and more acting IN the text)....
This play....I guess I didn't realize how disturbing it would be to see a mother giving her child a deadly dose of sleeping pills....right in front of me! Whew.....and I thought it would be nice to play Spiegel Im Spiegel under the scene.....which makes it even more.....emotional....if possible.

What an inspired idea, DR Jrand64. Love that piece of music.

I'm pleased to announce that my new stage play, LANA & JOHNNY WERE LOVERS, is now available in both paperback and Kindle editions from Amazon and elsewhere.
The play deals with Lana Turner and her relationship with mobster boy friend Johnny Stompanato.
Here's the trailer I created for it.

Keith has been wanting to get rid of our landline for a good while now. With the move I reluctantly agreed to try just having cell phones. By the time he ordered Comcast he was ready to get a landline again. It was also part of the package so we had to take it.
We purchased new phones that you can connect to your cell phone and then use as if they were a land line.

TOD
I'm afraid I don't have time for much, except maybe, hopefully, tomorrow evening.
Tonight I'm seeing the ONCE UPON A MATTRESS production whose dress rehearsal last week was straight out of Hell, tech-wise. I've heard the finished product is great. Sunday and Monday I'll be on a quick overnight trip to Morgantown, WV for my semi-annual visit to extended family. Tomorrow I'll be getting ready for that, after which I'll try to watch one or two good things during the evening.
Those are my excuses and I'm sticking to them.

Wouldn't we all. I'm finding mentions of places like this in the menu book, but NO menus - not this, not C.C. Brown's - I mean, c'mon.
-
I'm up thanks to the stupid phone ringing at eight thirty. Helper has come and gone.
-
Our land line just rang surprising us all. The workers said this was the first time. It was someone returning Keith's call, only he called them from his cell. Maybe the cell is also ringing there. This new phone is complicated.
-
Speaking of complicated, did anyone watch Complcations last nght? We don't plan on watching it again.
-
Bruce, did you see La Barbara's now has frozen pizza? I just shared the link on FB. If I could I would put it here.
-
And, to cleanse the palate from that... a lovely performance:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=47&v=qHHJvNuJtEk
Cool! The bass player is Chuck Israels (not "Israel" as it's listed in the description). He was a jazz music professor at Western Washington University for my last two years there (which were his first two years). I was in his jazz choir. Pretty cool! ;D
-
Nice preview DR DRUXY.
-
MR BK - I am sorry the book I recommended turned out to be such a disappointment. The write up and description certainly are at odds with the book that you describe....
Somebody was asleep at the switch!
-
Thanks DR SINGDAW......I wasn't familiar with it, but it was used in the movie ABOUT TIME last year.....and it was on the soundtrack.
I like that video of the the violin player....she is amazing....and her concentration is amazing.
-
Mirror in Mirror.....is the English title.
-
I'm always happy to have a book like the menu book - and I'm not sure it would be a disappointment to anyone but me.
-
Not sure why the link in the notes doesn't work. I cut and pasted the address DIRECTLY from Indiegogo, just as I did on Facebook, where the same exact link takes you where you need to go. Any ideas?
-
Had a sandwich and no fries or onion rings.
-
I've just tried every single code they have on the Indiegogo page for sharing - all work elsewhere, none work on HHW.

I hadn't had a landline since I moved into my condo more than 8-1/2 years ago. Last year, I got the bundled package from Comcast which included a landline phone. However, the phone number that I got used to be for a café and catering business that at first moved and got a new number (I got the old number), and then went out of business. But when you search that business, the number that I now have is still in some of the search results...and certainly people who did business with them before they got a new number still have the old number.
-
The worst thing is that I've gotten calls from people who have done or want to do business with them, as well as one call from a credit card company that says that some charges didn't go through and they'd call a collection agency! :o I haven't forwarded anything to the out-of-business business, nor have I called the callers back. I'm sure that it'll all work itself out without my interference. Anyway, I have the ringer of my phone turned off so I don't have to answer any calls. I (and now you) can actually go on-line and listen to the messages.
-
Apprently the pound sign in the link was causing Word Press to convert it into a different sign. They sent me the way to do it and it's now working.
-
The Vagaries of the Internet.....that was going to be the title of my new play....instead I think I will call it The Vagaries Monologues
-
Pondering dinner. Hmmm . . .
-
George did Comcast refuse to change your number?
-
George did Comcast refuse to chane your number?
I didn't even think about asking that. I never use the number so it's not really been a problem...at least, not yet. All of the calls have been one-offs. No repeaters asking for the person again, so I'm not too concerned.
-

After too long a layover in LA, I finally made it back home. Ready for bed.

No ready for reality yet.

Finally getting around to watching "Into the Woods." I'm really enjoying it and can, at the same time, understand all of the criticism it received.

Welcome home. It looked like you had a nice trip.

I am going to get fat living here. When we switched hotels Keith left our scale at the condo. I need to get it and weigh myself. The food is too good almost everywhere we eat :)

Is Old Town still nice?

I found a book store run by the library to sell off unwanted books. In the CD section, I found a BK CD I not only didn't have but had never heard of: Broadway's Biggest '97-'98 with Grant Geissman. It was all of $1, so I bought it. Turns out the CD in the case isn't a BK disc at all; it's an MTI sampler disc with songs from big, Western Star, the Rothschilds, Children of Eden and more.
Bummer.

Don't feel like working tonight.

So, I'm starting to watch Foxcatcher.

Doubt I'll finish it tonight.

I didn't mind the title of that book, BK. it is much better than TO LUNCH AND DIE IN LA.
-
I have a cable land line. It's not the same as a real land line which I had until about 2 years ago. It will go out if the electricity goes out, unlike a true land line, but I like it ok. It's the number my mom remembers and it's part of my internet bundle.
-
I had a pretty productive day. I needed that.
-
DR Vixmom, Richard isn't here on vacation yet. He's in northwest Indiana at the diocesan synod and he'll go from there to Lima for Sunday church. We'll meet in San Francisco on Monday.
After all these years, I am glad you are finally going to meet.
-
I wasn't feeling too well today, but I ate dinner and it didn't go right through me, so to speak, so maybe I'm getting better
-
I did mow the yard
-
I have decided not to go to the lake for father's day/Dash's birthday. After the past two weeks I'm just not up to it. No one was too concerned about me not being there, lol
-
I'm glad you are feeling better Cilla.
-
It does give me some breathing room.
-
Thanks Jane, it takes about a day and a half after getting a shot to feel better. But it's worth it
-
I slept through the night last night. If I can do that again, I'll really feel better. I might have woken up once, but it I didn't panic thinking there was a bat, so it doesn't count
-
It's been interesting. Nearly everyone I talk to around here has a bat story.
-
We purchased new phones that you can connect to your cell phone and then use as if they were a land line.
Huh?
-
Absolutely worth it. Not panicking is good. Sleep well tonight.

Our Sioux City Baseball team The Explorers (Xs) now have 21 wins and 6 losses. They are so fun to watch. I'm sure that we'll lose a couple to affiliated baseball soon. That's good for the players, but it will be sad to see the team change. A couple players will be playing for Canada in the Pan Am games, so they'll miss a big chunk of July.
-
We purchased new phones that you can connect to your cell phone and then use as if they were a land line.
Huh?
;D
The phone connects to our cells using the bluetooth on the cells.
-
It's been interesting. Nearly everyone I talk to around here has a bat story.
Oh my.
-
I never realized I was a baseball fan. I think it's the whole experience, having the same group of people around me every game, we all enjoy each other, being outside on a nice night and the game. What fun. It doesn't hurt that the boys of summer are quite adorable
-
Finally getting around to watching "Into the Woods." I'm really enjoying it and can, at the same time, understand all of the criticism it received.

I know what you mean about the food, Jane. They used to have a great Dairy Queen in Vancouver.
-
I was very frustrated about things, not exactly clear what, just in general, so I mowed the yard. Somehow that always helps
-
I do know when the tornado hit Joplin you could still text from the tornado zone even if you couldn't call on land lines or cell phones.
-
Well maybe not during the tornado, but during the clean up
-

Lol, that does not excite me. We went to DQ one night and I was reminded I am not a fan. Was this DQ better than most?

The coffee shop we ususually go to also has delicious ice cream.

Oh well, maybe I won't be living here that much longer.

It's been a full AAUW day here in San Diego. I've heard some great presentations and talked to a lot of interesting women (and a couple of totally crazy ones...). Nita and I met up for a nice dinner on the hotel patio. Then I came up to my room and watched the fog roll in over Point Loma. I was all set to watch The Merry Widow on PBS, but the local station isn't airing it. I'll probably crash early again tonight.
-
Glad you are feeling better, Cillaliz.

I've tried frozen pizza before and no matter where it's from, even CPK, it always tastes bad to me.

Finished with my viewing.

Did a jog.

Made about four ounces of pasta for my snack.

No dessert.

Well, let me help.

One more post!

Six!

No cast party tonight, George?
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work and be tonight's house manager for TAO's production of "Tartuffe." It's seems to be a success! We've gotten one really good review, but probably won't get any more (no one else seems to be doing reviews in town anymore). Anyway, the audiences are coming to see the show and they really seem to like it! Hoo and Ray!
Be back later.
We had a FILLED house tonight! We actually added three extra seats! I had to sit on a stool up in the tech deck. It wasn't horrible, though. I've worked shows up there, so I'm used to it. But the actors are still good, the costumes are still beautiful, and the show is still funny. :D
-
No cast party tonight, George?
Well, I'm not directly involved with the show, so I wouldn't know. But I don't think anything was happening tonight. People were milling about and chatting afterward, but it didn't seem like anyone was going anywhere special.

I don't know if there is a specified time. The dress is modern...ish. The language, while entirely rhymed, is otherwise quite modern. It's within its own time vortex.

Yes, we are, but I don't think that a party was happening tonight. There might be one tomorrow or next weekend, but I haven't heard...yet.

I'm having a cast party right now. I'm the cast. I had some Saltines. I HATE Saltines. They're just left over from my stomach bug so I eat them even as I HATE them.

Finally getting around to watching "Into the Woods." I'm really enjoying it and can, at the same time, understand all of the criticism it received.
What kind of criticism did it receive?
My big criticism was why was The Baker's Father, in a flashback from 30 years before, played by an old man with gray hair?? Shouldn't The Baker's Father back then be about about the same age as The Baker in the movie's present?
I never understood that part.
-
it's figs.
Not even figs. Raisins.
One of Sondheim's not entirely perfect rhymes. Unless you say "rai-zons."
Or rhyme it the other way...ray-zins/liay-zins...just that one time and laugh at it.
-
Well, I hate to do it...no, I really do...but I must go to bed now. This weekend is Capitol City Pride weekend here in Olympia. My sister and niece are on the board of Olympia's PFLAG and I was volunteered to help set up the tent for their booth tomorrow at eight in the freakin' morning. I HATE having to get up that early on a Saturday.
-
As soon as that's set up (and if I'm not too hot and sweaty), I'm going to work concessions for an event at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts (if I am too hot and sweaty, I'll go home and take another shower and then go back). I will bring my Kindle to read during the show. I'll also bring my tablet to see if there's wi-fi to glom onto. If not, I'll be gone all day.
Have a good day, all!
