Well, you've read the notes, the notes were an ordeal, and now it is time for you to post until the ordeal cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CAVIL!
-
Good morning, everyone.
-
On the Internet, no one knows you're a dog.
-
I am sure I wouldn't like it, as a composer, if my film score were replaced. But I suppose the original composer still gets paid.
-
Dang, I have been awake for hours and I need to be up early.
-
Bruce I am still interested in reactions to the pizza and would try it if I could.
-
Sorry for the sudden unannounced disappearance I was at the office from 6:30 until 10:30 ... I fell asleep right after that one post
-
For the TOD, there was one (not spoken of much these days) that really made me jump called SEE NO EVIL starring Mia Farrow, which we saw at Radio City Music Hall back in the day when a movie and a full radio City show cost less than two dollars. There was a scary moment involving a close-up of the villain's boots that particularly got the Radio City audience all abuzz.
-
I seem to recall that the Radio City live shows were staged with the family audience in mind (the Rockettes legs notwithstanding) but parents bringing their kids would be amazed at the mature content of the films.
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee in my IV, please.
-
FJL beat me to it. SEE NO EVIL. I only discovered it a few years ago. I got the DVD, and I've only watched it once so far. My impression was that it was WAIT UNTIL DARK on steroids. The suspense put me through the wringer and Farrow was absolutely incredible in it. I think it's time to watch it again and see what I think now.
-
But I love WAIT UNTIL DARK, both the film and on stage. I've actually only seen it done once, in a community theater production. I was blown away by how good that was, and by how a certain iconic bit works on stage when pulled off correctly. I can tell you that it packs a wallop.
-
TOD:
WAIT UNTIL DARK
ZODIAC
THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS
MANHUNTER

I discovered an interesting Kindle bonus the other day. Because I bought the hardcover version of Steven Suskin's book on Broadway orchestrators and orchestrations (The Sound of Broadway Music) when it first came out (what was it, $50? $60?), it gave me the option to add the e-version to my Kindle for only a couple of bucks more.
-
But it you haven't bought the hardcover, you can buy the Kindle version for less than $15. This wasn't available as a standalone when the book was first issued.
-
And the word of the day is: CAVIL!
And The Song Of The Day Is: IT AIN'T NECESSARILY SO
-
Good morning, all.
-
It's Saturday. Sleeping in is a very good thing.

Wait Until Dark
Summer of Sam
Don't Look Now

Good morning, all! I am down and rather unhappy today. I had an unsettling dream that highlighted all of my insecurities and everything crashed. I finally decided around noon, after debating about never getting out of bed at all, to get up, get to work and go on. Now I'm debating whether or not I made the right decision.
More coffee might help.
-
Good morning.
-
VIBES the mood picks up as the hours pass, DR Elmore.
I've had similar enough experiences to know how tough that is to pull out of. But you will.
-
Topic of the Day:
Of the titles already mentioned, I've only seen "Psycho." I did love it.
-
Well, I helped my sister and niece put up the canopy for their PFLAG booth for this weekend's Pride Weekend. Then, I hied myself to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts to work concessions. WHAT WAS I THINKING?? :o
-
IT'S A BODY BUILDING CONTEST! Fake tans for DAYS! And fortunately only a couple of people who really seemed too full of themselves. Most have either been nice or just indifferent. I don't know if they have an opinion about a very large man selling candy at their body building contest. ;)
Not my concern.
-
WHAT WAS I THINKING?? :o
I say that to myself.
Often.
-
Tonight, we are bringing a friend to the Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus Broadway Cabaret.
Ole!
-
Still on Page 1?
-
This is a revoltin' development.
-
ONWARD AND UPWARD!
-
HITHER AND THITHER!

-
or is it HITHER AND YON?
-
FOWARD AND AFT!
-
OVER HILL AND DALE!
-
MUSH, MUSH, MUSH!
-
I am doing laundry.
-
And flossing.
-
But not at the same time.
-
or is it HITHER AND YON?
Hither and thither and yon.
:)
-
I'm up, I'm up - I think I got eight hours of sleep.
-
Well, I must go. Intermission is going to happen sometime soon and then I'm done for the first show. I'll be back to the WCPA for the evening show, which should be more like a regular show than this competition.
Have a good rest of the day, all!

Serial killer films:
1. Jack the Ripper:
Time After Time
Murder by Decree
A Study In Terror
2. Other
Psycho
Silence of the Lambs
Apartment Zero
No Way To Treat A Lady
Black Christmas
-
TOD: Even though I wrote PSYCHO III, I wouldn't say I have a "favourite" serial killer series. I generally don't watch them. I do watch mysteries where a serial killer might be involved. And I've always been fascinated by the "mystery" of Jack the Ripper and his identity. But I don't particularly like movies where we follow the killer about and are exposed to exploitive murders.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
At some point I should watch both WAIT UNTIL DARK and PSYCHO, but I'm really more of the thriller lite type. There are some things I just can't watch.
-
I did some laundry this morning, then some cleaning. There's more to do. I won't be able to do it all today. I really should hire some help. It's a matter of finding someone I like.
-
TCB, thanks for your explanation of mobile home parks. It sounds like there's quite a distinction. There's no reason that I can see that a mobile home park couldn't be very nice indeed.
-
Last night I watched the first episode of DANCING ON THE EDGE, thanks to DR John G's mention of it here. Thank you, John G! I never saw it listed on the PBS website and it really is right up my alley. The story is engaging, the music is wonderful, and Chiwetel's performances always interest me. Episode 2 tonight!

SEE NO EVIL.
Mia Farrow really suffered! She made Barbara Stanwyck's life in SORRY, WRONG NUMBER look like a picnic!
-
Quiet day today. I am working on my tech and stage crew cues today....tedious but necessary.
Vibes that the Kritzerland Show has smooth sailing from now on....
-
The second edit of Gentlemen, Be Seated! is completed. On Tuesday morning, I will head up to Columbia to work on Edit Three.
-
THREE THREE THREE
-
Had some chicken tenders for lunch. Back now and relaxing until I'm on my way to see a show.
-
Here's a Hollywood Palace with Groucho, reunited with the great Margaret Dumont. She died eight days after taping this episode, which was shown after her death.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xlWQqFB4ECI
-
Brought to you by Muriel Panatela Extra cigars!
-
What a great clip! That tall blonde dancer that Groucho dips was one of the hot box girls in the movie version of GUYS & DOLLS and she was also in THE MUSIC MAN.....I remember her vividly from "Wells Fargo Wagon".....
She does her stuff at 2:11 in this clip.

-
The choreography is the WORST. Miriam Nelson. Still at it directing and choreographing old musicals in concert at Theater West - and just as poorly.
-
LOL.....she was Doris Day's "personal" choreographer at Warner Bros. Doris thought she was better than LeRoy Prinz.....but other than that.....
-
I just heard from our DR Ben; his internet and phone are still out and he's on Wi-Fi at Pret a Manger.
I had pizza and tomato-mozzarella salad for dinner. Things are looking up.
-
Evening all.
That is all.
-
What Larry said just above my first post.
-
The problem may be resolved by Monday but who the **** knows.
-
And on that note, bye till Monday when I'm at the office.
-
Miriam was one of those poor choreographers who flourished on TV variety shows - not even as good as June Taylor. She has choreography credits on The Apartment and Breakfast at Tiffany's - sorry, having people move around in party sequences is not really my idea of choreography - in other words, they aren't musical numbers. There are a lot of these folks who were ordinary - I remember seeing the revamped version of Kander and Ebb's The Act, which starred Gloria Loring. It was directed and choreographed by a male equivalent of Miss Nelson, Walter Painter. Perfectly adequate but nothing more and certainly nothing as fun as the show's original choreography.
-
I love choreography! It was my first theatre job.....everything else grew from that. I loved to tell a story.....beginning, middle, end.
So many local theatres figure that dance teachers make the best choreographers, but I don't think so. There's a BIG difference between doing a number and doing a SONG! And just because the music repeats, that doesn't mean you should repeat the steps....that's just LAZY!
-
I was a bit astonished that she had ALL of those people and basically did NOTHING with them.....and Dumont was certainly lost in the crowd rather than featured.
-
I just heard from our DR Ben; his internet and phone are still out and he's on Wi-Fi at Pret a Manger.
Thanks for letting us know.
-
What Larry said just above my first post.
And here you are :)
-
Shortly I shall be on my way to meet some folks pre-show, although I won't really be eating unless they have a low-cal appetizer of some sort.
-
It was a beautiful day for a walk.
-
My cold is getting better. hopefully i will be able to sleep through the night. I did go swimming (well I did not swim just went in the water). But it was nice.
-
The worst part is that i have not been on my bike in 5 days. I was doing 10kms/day.
-
Saturday evening greetings! It's been another long AAUW day and we have the gala banquet tonight. I'm in my room decompressing before changing into my party clothes and heading back downstairs.
-
Have fun at the gala DR GINNY. Will there be a red carpet?
That's a lovely photo DR JANE.
Still working out my sound cues.
-
Good evening!
-
I got 10 hours of sleep last night!! Woo and hoo
-
Tonight I went to the "wurst party ever". There were bratwurst, hot dogs, anndoui (sp?) sausage and hot dogs...and lots of salads and desserts. It was a lot of fun. Haven't been out with those friends in a while
-
I didn't drink anything except water as I'm not sure if my system is back to normal again yet. If the food doesn't bother me, I'd say the answer is yes.
-
The good thing is I haven't felt like eating much, so I think I'm losing weight.
-
I'm a little irritated at friend Paul who seems to have something he has to do or somewhere he has to be whenever I really need a friend. The past couple weeks have been very hard for me. I talked to him Monday and he said a friend was getting married Saturday so the whole week was all about him. Ok, I get a friend is getting married, but he lives in town and it isn't like Paul was even in the wedding party. You can't tell me he couldn't take a few minutes to talk to me all week long. I'm not mad, just a little disappointed.
-
I seem to recall that the Radio City live shows were staged with the family audience in mind (the Rockettes legs notwithstanding) but parents bringing their kids would be amazed at the mature content of the films.
Oh, I don't know. I saw THE LOVE BUG at the Easter Show!

Page four
-
It seems that the only time I fit into his schedule is Sunday breakfast. Kind of tired of that. I'm going to turn off the ringer on my phone and sleep in tomorrow
-
I am feeling much better. Had a nice shower tonight. I usually shower in the morning, but I had bug spray on me and wanted to get it off before climbing into bed
-
Seriously page 4?

Oh dear

Johnny's so long at the fair
-
Don't know what brought that to mind
-
At least we made it to 100
-
I guess I could try to get us to page 5
-
Had a very relaxing day with the cats today
-
I watched This Is Where I Leave You. I enjoyed it.
-
Oh my it's a long way to the next page
-
WHAT WAS I THINKING?? :o
I say that to myself.
Often.
Not as often as we say it about you.
-
Hi TCB!
-
Johnny's so long at the fair
Him, too? I thought it was just me.
What is it about songs about staying too long at the fair? :)
-
Hmmm, Hello Hello Hello, is anybody out there
-
Not as often as we say it about you.
Hey!!
;D
-
Don't know Sing, the rest is all about what he promised to buy and that he hasn't shown up. Maybe he just decided not to buy all this stuff
-
Hi, DR Cillaliz. Glad to hear that you are starting to feel better and get better rest.
-
We're getting closer
-
The Gay Men's Chorus concert was a lot of fun. Lots of great tunes from the golden age of the Great White Way.
And a few drag queens.
-
I will do my best to help us achieve PAGE 5, but I've got to get to bed.
-
Church will arrive all too soon tomorrow morning.
-
Places, everyone.
Places.
-
Cranberries.
-
Underpants.
-
And all that jazz.

Goodnight.

I enjoyed all but the last episode. You don't have to watch that one. But glad you are enjoying it.

I understand that all too well. Ugh.

I hope you had the wurst time!
-
Just back from the wedding reception of a co-worker. It was nice and all, but perhaps there were too many children there, all of whom took up space on the dance floor for the entire evening, so there really was no place to dance without tripping over a toddler. (Sounds the like the title of my next novel, Tripping Over a Toddler.)
The band took a break for the cake cutting, and when they came back, people started placing requests for stuff they couldn't play. So someone took out their phone and took over the party for about an hour with iTunes for all the major line dances and some Latin stuff, like cumbia and bachata, which are really popular. The band really didn't need to come back. Seemed odd.
-
Then my friend Gail and I went to a new bar that everybody's been raving about called The Last Word. The place is decorated with books and photos of famous writers. We sat under Dorothy Parker's photo. Others lining the walls included Twain, Fitzgerald, Capote, Shakespeare, Woolf and others.
I love books. I love the guys who own the bar. I loved my drink. I loved catching up with Gail.
But I didn't love the place. It just seemed to be lacking the right spark. It just didn't seem to be all that it has been cracked up to be. Maybe it was because the evening was rainy and humid and people were just tired.
-
How are you, TCB?
-
Sorry I missed your "Hello" Cilla. I was watching HEAVEN CAN WAIT.
-
How are you, TCB?
Blind!
-
I saw a couple of used mobile homes today.
-
Unfortunately, used is about all I can afford at this stage of my life.
-

Well, I must go. Intermission is going to happen sometime soon and then I'm done for the first show. I'll be back to the WCPA for the evening show, which should be more like a regular show than this competition.
Have a good rest of the day, all!
Oh, my goodness! I actually didn't get to leave the morning portion until about 2:15 pm! We were just open during the whole competition and since people were still buying things, it wasn't a problem to keep concessions open. We were only selling the candies, cashews, almonds, sodas, water (LOTS of water) and coffee. We didn't have any cookies to sell, nor were we selling alcohol. Anyway, they finally were able to close down the lobby and I went to The Spar for lunch in between the two "performances" and got back at about 4:00.
-
They opened the lobby at about 5:00 for the evening portion but even before that, we started selling to the vendors who were there selling weight training foods and stuff. Once we started selling, we didn't stop! I was literally on my feet selling the alcohol with another concessionaire the whole freakin' time. We had one other guy just selling the non-alcohol for the pre-show. Once the show started, one of the ushers who is a trained concessionaire helped us, also, which REALLY helped us.
-
It seems that the only time I fit into his schedule is Sunday breakfast. Kind of tired of that. I'm going to turn off the ringer on my phone and sleep in tomorrow
Vibes you sleep late and feel better when you wake up.
-
I never stopped selling alcohol. These people could not get enough wine and beer. We probably sold more beer and wine than I've ever sold in any one evening. Even after we finally stopped selling and had put most of the stuff away, a couple of people came up asking if they could just get one item or two. We just had to say sorry, no.
-
Had a very relaxing day with the cats today
I can't think of a better day, have another one like it tommorrow
-
On a side note, the concessionaires used to be able to keep the tips that we earned. We who sold alcohol got most, if not all the tips, but we always share them with the other concessionaires. Starting last season, the WCPA made a policy that all tips were to be saved for the end of the season volunteer appreciation night...which just happened a couple of weeks ago for this past season. Tonight's tips will go for 2016's volunteer appreciation night. I had to exchange some ones from the tip jar because it was so filled up, so I got to count most of the tips. We had over $80 ! And that was just the cash tips. I can't even estimate how many charge/debit card transactions included tips, also (which never came to us concessionaires, anyway). I don't think I've ever gotten that much in tips before. Too bad we didn't get to keep that for ourselves. ;)
-
Anyway, we finally got to leave and I'm at home in a lot of pain. Standing and bending and selling booze literally non-stop for more than five hours was exhausting! I don't doubt that I'll sleep well tonight. The only real problem is that tomorrow is the Olympia Pride Festival's parade. My sister and niece and the Olympia PFLAG group are walking and I have to walk with them. I hope my feet and back are recovered enough for that. It's probably only about a mile or a mile and a half at the most, but still after today, I might still be in pain.
-
After the parade and I help them take down their canopy and put away all their stuff, we (the family) are all going to my sister's house and our parents will come over, also and we'll visit and celebrate Father's Day. At some point tomorrow, I need to get my dad his regular Barnes & Noble gift card. He love B&N and we have been getting him gift cards to that for years.
-
And that's been MY day. Now to ketchup on all the posts. :)
-
It was a beautiful day for a walk.
Really nice view, Jane!
-
I watched This Is Where I Leave You. I enjoyed it.
I recorded that, but haven't watched it yet.

Thanks Jrand and George.

How long until the big move, Jane?

Back from a really bad musical.
