Good morning, all!  I've been moving furniture for the last hour and I am ready for our DR ChasSmith's arrival with my new (used) 5-drawer filing cabinet.  I have a cherce thank you gift of a Strauss vocal score for ELEKTRA waiting for him.  Maybe some DVDs, too!

Once this heavy (it's heavy!) cabinet is in, we'll have a lovely luncheon and gossip, so if your ears burn . . .

Thank you all for the vibes for Craig and his family.  There's been no update on Facebook, but I suspect Craig has flown to Missouri to deal with his son's disappearance.  I may give him a call this morning, just to check on him.

Oddly, the delivery of the file cabinets turns out to be easier than the loading of them, and this is already easier because there's only one.  Still, as DR Elmore says, it's a heavy mother.  Or it ain't heavy, it's my brother.  Or something.

About Last Night

The Graduate
Wag the Dog
Runaway Jury

When I was in college I was required to take an acting class for my major, and one of our assignments was to do a scene from the David Mamet play, "About Last Night". The movie was only very loosely based on the play. The movie was made to be  much sweeter and lighter than the play. Anyway, the scene that was chosen for me and a partner was a bed scene. We had to pretend to be naked in bed, during after-play and having pillow talk. I put on a tube top and tights and pulled a sheet up to my armpits. We had a weird dialog where I admitted I'd had lesbian experiences. Afterwards, the teacher only gave constructive criticism to my partner and said nothing about my performance. I never know if that means I was so good, he couldn't improve anything or if I was so terrible, I wasn't worth the effort to try to improve. I hate that.

I forgot to ask this yesterday, and I may forget by next Wednesday.

MR BK - you should talk to your tax man about applying for your social security benefit.  That way you would be signed up for Medicare and Medicare Part B (paid for from your SS benefit).  I don't think your income would be a factor in getting your benefit.....but please check it out.....

You paid for it from your income....and continue to do so....if you were born between January 2, 1943, and January 1, 1955, you get full benefits and can make as much income as you wish.  There's a booklet here to read.

Films in which I find Dustin Hoffman's performances to be exemplary:

The Graduate
Little Big Man
Tootsie
Agatha

By and large, I'm not a huge Hoffman fan.  I blame this on his special appearances on the Oscars when he introduced special achievement Oscar winners.   I also find him a bit "much" in some of his performances and I'm aware that he's "acting" in that "special Hoffman way".

DR ChasSmith and I, with the help of my super and his family, got this heavy 5-drawer filing cabinet into my apartment.  I can start housekeeping as soon as i finish this post.  we then had a lovely lunch at Artie';s and went our separate ways.

The only polite word for Michael in 5D, who told me twice he wanted my 4-drawer file but never came to see it, is Dumb Ass.  Today he said that he and his wife had two wooden cabinets and were passing.  So . . . I have to see if anyone else in the building wants it before I pitch it.  I always thought he was a bit of a creep, but now I know he's stupid one as well.

And I am back, from a delightful visit with DR Elmore and an amazingly beautiful drive home.  There were delays here and there going into the city this morning, but the highways (and tomorrow) belonged to ME coming back.

I'm starting to feel like a regular at Artie's, and that's a nice thing to say.  Okay, semi-regular.  But that's good, too.

A fine day all around.  There should only be more of them.

I have worked with Dustin Hoffman and his company Punch Productions twice, and I love him. When I helped him with the Peter Hall production of The Merchant of Venice, he gave me a beautiful Christmas gift of embossed stationery.  I haven't seen him in about 20 years, but I remember his kindness.

He's also very shy, as I discovered the first time I helped him at The Drama Book Shop.

Hello Dear Readers, wherever you are. I'm full of legal narcotics. Making mush of my ability to write. Everythingshouldbeinitalics.
While I may not be here here. Your vibes are with me here there. Where I are. And I miss you all. Too many pills for me a pilltotaler. I am forced into this. Temporarily. I'm hoping that the bandages will be updated or redone or something on Monday.

Just finished watching Nelson and Jeanette in Bitter Sweet.

Not my favorite of their movies.

I think I'd rather watch Night of the Generals instead.

Strange day. For some reason, I felt jittery all day.

Maybe it's the allergy meds.

I am pleased about that.

Me, too.

I would be if my sky high premiums weren't going up another 24% and I already have a $4000 deductible.  I'm very curious to see how much I have to pay out of pocket for this month.

I am tired!  Still pissed over that jerk on the 5th floor.

DR ChasSmith, the new filing cabinet is fantastic and everything is put into them, with half a drawer free, and I already know what I will do with it.  I am very pleased.  Thank you for making the effort to get this cabinet to me and for your fantastic friendship.

And for every friend I've made on this site, thank you, BK. HHW is the best.

I love reading stories od DR's spending time together.

Thursday evening greetings!  We left the hotel about 11 this morning and rode the free trolley all around Monterey until we reached the aquarium.  Spent a couple of hours there, had our hands stamped, went out for lunch, and returned for a while longer.  Took the trolley home, rested a bit, and went to the laundromat.  Do we know how to live it up or what?

Well, it's time for me to leave work and be house manager for tonight's performance of "Tartuffe."  This is the beginning of the last weekend.  It closes on Saturday.  it was a great run with great audiences, and more importantly, it made us some money. :)

Be back later!

It was a sold out house!

We had a wait list, but four people who were supposed to be comped never showed up, so we actually got to sell them. :)

And then one person who actually bought a ticket on-line didn't show up, so I got to sit in a chair in the audience.
