Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Kritzerland at Sterling's 59, and now it is time for you to post until the fifty-nine cows come home.

TOD:  If you could get Gloria Loring again someday, maybe you could do a show built around TV theme songs, including songs known from TV.

There are lots of full 2-1/2 or 3-minute versions of the Tv theme songs, and it seems that quite a number of TV theme songs have actually charted on the pop charts.

Good morning, all!  My dreams last night were all over the place: in one I was sitting with several producers in a cafeteria/big room with tables looking over various editions of vocal scores for The Chocolate Soldier, in another I was at Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall; Rob Berman and i were sitting at a table covered in dishes containing something made with blueberries and plates of chocolate cake, then I was riding in back of a station wagon driven by Rob and we were talking about blueberries!  In another i was closing Murphy's department store in downtown Middletown, OH, after a Christmas shopping rush; I had been looking for the price of a purse for one of the customers.  It was a restless night.

For future Kritzerland shows, although it's not very original, you could do "Broadway by the Year" themes, selecting songs from shows from a particular year or Broadway season.

Or do an "Always the Bridesmaid, Never the Bride" themed show, using only songs from musicals that LOST the Best Musical Tony Award.

Because we've had fun pairing up composers, I think what I'll do is add Henry Mancini to the mix - can't be more well known than that, and he's a good match for Mr. Previn.

Of course I, too, am a master of the epic dreams.  Had a couple of beauts just in the past week.  I do wish there was a way we could actually record our dreams for future enjoyment and study.  Something like the contraption in BRAINSTORM, perhaps, but it would have to be a small portable unit that you could throw into your carry-on...

What in the HELL am I blabbering about?

Oddly -- and this is a real coincidence -- I was going through my soundtrack LPs yesterday.  It's part of my master project in seeing what I've got that's important, what I can get rid of, etc.  Anyway, discovered I had a beautiful copy of Previn's TWO FOR THE SEESAW which I'd never listened to, and I don't think I ever saw the movie either.  Played a few tracks, and it's great.  (Mono copy of a stereo release, but hey.)

I do have to number myself among those ignorant of Previn's songs.  Or most of them.

Did he write the ones for the film version of IRMA LA DOUCE?  I found that yesterday, too.

Just finished Peter Filichia's Great Parade. How about a show devoted to songs from shows that season: Anyone Can Whistle, 110 in the Shade, High Spirits, Funny Girl, Foxy, Dolly! and more.

How about a tribute to a performer? Songs associated with someone like Barbara Cook or Bobby Short or Sammy Davis or whomever.

Anyway, out of some 250-300 soundtrack LPs (and for the easily impressed, that ain't much, trust me), I only got rid of half a dozen -- for reasons of condition and/or lack of interest.  Damn.

He used the musical's score and reworked the songs into background music. And then he won the Oscar essentially for other's work.

I'm so sorry Mark and I have missed the last three Kritzerland shows in a row. It's just been one thing after another. I have no idea who Andre Previn is, but I don't think there's anything that could stop us from attending the next show.
But if you decide to put Mr. Previn on the shelf, I'd like to see a show based on Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg (Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Martin Guerre).
Or how about doing a show based all on calendar songs, ie. songs about days of the week, months of the year, or seasons.

DR Jane, I'd read some of the scary stories about gel manicures and chickened out once before. On July 10 I did have a shellac manicure (similar to gel) because I wanted it to last a long time.  But today I'm going to have her do just a regular one to see how durable it is.  She also did one of my thumbnails in acrylic to see how I liked it - the jury is still out...

I need a new computer and I cannot afford one. I need a new will and I cannot afford one. I need life insurance and I seem to do nothing but jump through hoops.  Sometimes death seems such a good option.

And no, I'm not suicidal, just displeased that it's the best option I currently have.

BK, weren't you thinking about doing a Kritzerland show based on either the Cinderella or Peter Pan compilation CDs that you produced?  You could present them like radio dramas with sound effects and people just standing at music stands.  That would be cool...unless royalties would have to be paid for each show.

The above, ladies and gentlemen, is precisely why I keep Excel spreadsheets of my shiny silver discs.  I never got around to making a database of the records, but I have done quite well at it in the era of CDs, LDs, DVDs, and BDs.  That's a lot of Ds.

The reason was to have something to carry around with me when attending record sales and the like, so that I'd know what I've already got, and/or what should be replaced if a better copy comes along.  Well, the record one never happened.  And that would have necessitated carrying printouts around with me back then.

So I finally got smart and took the time to enter everything else into Excel, and now I'm able to check my lists, which I keep on Google Drive, via smartphone whenever necessary.

So then, back to the current project.  I've got BK's presentation of TWO FOR THE SEESAW -- so do I hang onto the record?  Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes no.  It just depends on how I feel about the record.  This one, I don't know, but since getting rid of it won't make a dent, I'll probably keep it.

Here's another that I DIDN'T forget I had:  ONE-EYED JACKS.  I had the LP, but it happened to be in condition that didn't warrant keeping it.  And of course it helped that BK's notes on it were pretty revealing in regard to how poorly it had been mastered back in the day.

The reason was to have something to carry around with me when attending record sales and the like, so that I'd know what I've already got, and/or what should be replaced if a better copy comes along.  Well, the record one never happened.  And that would have necessitated carrying printouts around with me back then.

So I finally got smart and took the time to enter everything else into Excel, and now I'm able to check my lists, which I keep on Google Drive, via smartphone whenever necessary....

For musical cast recordings, soundtracks to movie musicals (not just any soundtrack, mind you), and other musical theater related recordings, I discovered CastAlbums.org (http://castalbums.org/).  You create a profile, search to find the recordings that you have or want, and then you can click on the + sign next to the image of the release that you have or want, then click "Add to Collection" or "Add to Wish List."

Here's another coincidence - Kritzerland issued a glorious stereo Two for the Seesaw, one of my all-time favorite scores.  We have a few left.

Do any of these ruin your nails?  I'm curious and might have to check into this myself, for my next trip.

DR elmore do you need a complete new will or will a codicil do?  You can download forms free for codicils.  Until you can afford a new will it might be a good option and give you peace of mind to change those parts you want changed.

Meanwhile, I now have just regular polish on both my fingers and toes.  I'd never had a pedicure before and it was quite soothing.

My friend from Ashland stopped by today.  It was wonderful seeing her.  I wish it hadn't been so hot or we would have gone for a walk along the river.  We sat on our little patio, enjoyed the view and the breeze, and talked.

Not exactly a day off.  As you know, I've alluded to a little video we shot last week and then it being edited together.  Here's what it's for: Sami's mom is doing an Indiegogo campaign for our show, Welcome to My World.  I told her that after the Kritzerland campaign that this was all on her and other than putting it out there that it had to all emanate from her.  So, we just spent the last three hours finessing everything and it's live now.  For anyone who'd like to partake there are fun money-saving perks, some of which are especially designed for folk who can't attend the show - like the cast album CD and sheet music (single songs and the full book).  So, check it out and see what you think.  https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/welcome-to-my-world/x/9165600#/story
