Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the loo on the roof, and now it is time for you to post until the cows on the roof come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GRANDILOQUENCE!
-
Topic of the Day: Most of them. ::)
;)

The one that I remember (but don't remember the name) was the first gay dating show. They had a bunch of guys in a house getting to know each other and the gay bachelor had his best friend (a girl) there to give him advice during the run. However the kicker was that some of the guys that he was going for weren't actually gay! And they had to pretend that they were gay. At the end, if he picked a guy who was gay, I think they both got to split the grand prize money (whatever it was). But if he picked a straight guy, the straight guy got all the money.
:P , I say.

Morning all.
That is all.
-
Not much to report here except:
-
First after Ben in the morning, and second after George!
-
Good morning, all! It's another Columbia day, although I would rather stay home than be out in the heat and potential storms. This afternoon, my beloved Charlotte is coming by and I look forward to seeing her.
-
TOD: Was the old Ed McMahon "Star Search" a reality show?
-
I have no more news.
-
I really liked "Big Brother" for a couple of years, and it actually had some point for a while - but then it started getting overly gimmicky and strange.
-
good morning to all

Good Morning. It's a hot, muggy morning which will turn into a hotter, muggier day.

The TOD is reality shows - least favorite and most favorite
-
TOD:
I watched the first season of "Survivor," and that was enough for me. Finished. And I haven't watched another minute of any reality television, including any of the competition shows.

Gilgamesh.

Don't know why; that name just popped into my head.

Many people don't know that in Sondheim's first draft of that song for Follies, the lyrics were:
Listen to the loo on the roof
Go plink plink-a-plank
Plink-a...
There were several such references in the draft you mention, like:
I have seen raccoons in Soho
And I like them more than so-so
But when there's a loon
Goodbye, Raccoon
He changed it and the rest, of course, is history.
-
There's also this in On a Clear Day's Come Back to Me, it's still sometimes sung this way if there's an overdone accent:
Have you gone to the moon
To the corner saloon
Or to Raccoon to ruin

;D ;D ;D

Good morning, all.
Overcast here. Drinking coffee in the recliner. Pondering the day.

Cheese and guava babke swirls, anyone?

A raccoon loo on the roof. Sounds crazy, no? But here in our little City of Studio...

UPDATE: Half an hour later, these conditions persist.

Enjoy your visit.

TOD:
I hate all reality shows, except for one or two that are well-scripted. :-) It seems the creators' favorite thing is to make people cry. And I have no desire to watch people cry. I tried to watch one that was about dogs and dog training and within the first 20 minutes, some girl was crying because the judges chastised her for putting a dress on her dog...so dumb.
-
I really liked "Big Brother" for a couple of years, and it actually had some point for a while - but then it started getting overly gimmicky and strange.
I watched half an hour of the show once because I wanted to see my cousin's name in the credits, and have some idea of what the show was about. I was very surprised the next day to see responses to the show all over the news.

If wishes were raccoons, we'd all have poop on the roof.
-
New plays:
A Raccoon on a Hot Tin Roof
The Hairy Raccoon
I Can Get a Raccoon for You Wholesale
-
Thursday morning greetings! Richard and I are going to the Dayton 'burbs this afternoon for a Red Lobster lunch and to do some errands.
-
New plays:
A Raccoon on a Hot Tin Roof
The Hairy Raccoon
I Can Get a Raccoon for You Wholesale
Attack of the 50-Foot Raccoon
The Raccoon Who Knew Too Much
The Long, Hot Raccoon
-
If wishes were raccoons, we'd all have poop on the roof.
Or, our neighbors would.
And don't forget about raccoon poop on the fire escape for those living in NYC!
-
LOL DR FJL.
-
TOD:
Dislike ANY show with ANY Kardashian or Jenner.
Big Brother
American Idol, etc
LIKE:
The Amazing Race
Property Brothers
So You Think You Can Dance - but NOT this year with a contrived Street vs Stage Competition within the regular competition.
-
Good morning, all.
Great parodies, folks.
-
TOD:
I sort of enjoyed Top Chef on occasion and Food Network Star, but having been an extra on two "reality" shows, I think they're more fictional than most scripted sitcoms or dramas.
Is Dancing with the Stars considered a reality show? That's one's OK, but only because of the dancing. I don't care about the backstage "drama."
I have not liked whatever I've seen of other reality shows, and the preponderance of them is a big reason why I stopped watching TV.
-
Blue Raccoon
You saw me standing alone
Without a mask or a heart
Without a pelt of my own.
Night and day
You are the one
Only you beneath that raccoon and under the sun
-
TOD: Most loathed? All of them. Don't watch them. None of them are really real. The minute you put a camera in front of someone with their knowledge, they don't act naturally. And they're encouraged to behave outrageously and create faux conflict where none previously existed. It's all manufactured bullshit. We're making stupid people famous.
-
If you would rather eat healthy, have a tomato:
Yesterday Keith looked at the cherry tomatoes at the market and asked if I wanted any, then at dinner last night he wanted to prove the correct way of eating edamame is easier and about tossed two peas into my throat ;D
-
LOL DR JOHN G
-
I like Top Chef and Master Chef but NOT MC Jr.
-
The doctor removed the staples and cast from my foot today.
Now, for the next several weeks, I will be wearing a compression bandage, doing water therapy and using a walker.

BK.
I wouldn't want raccoons peeing on my roof either, but please don't damn them to Hell.
They're just poor creatures trying to get by, and I understand that they are people friendly and can make nice pets.
Just buy them a litter box.
::)
-
I'm up, I'm up - I think I got eight hours but I was having a really nice dream and had the alarm not gone off I'm sure I would have slept much longer.
-
Good news on tour progress DR Druxy. Continued healing vibes!!!

Vibes for continued healing, DR Druxy.

BK, the only thing I know that you can spray on things to keep raccoons away is made from the urine of predators. Ironically, some are made from coyote urine.
-
For all my protesting, it seems I may have overdone it this week. I slept 8 hours last night but really didn't feel on top of my game today, so I packed up some work and came home. I ate lunch on the new deck and sat in the chaise for a little while. It's beautifully shady out there until late in the afternoon, then it's only 1/2 in the sun. I need to get a deck storage box to keep my cushions and hammock in so I don't have to take them in and out all the time to keep them safe from the weather
-
They are doing some construction on the road on the other side of the block and I could smell the asphalt they are working with or I may have stayed out there longer
-
TOD: I love competitive reality shows. My favorites are The Amazing Race, Top Chef, Masterchef, Big Brother, Survivor and Dancing with the stars.
-
It has been so hot here the past week. Yesterday was really bad. With the humidex it was 40C, which is crazy hot.
-
My next door neighbor is having a huge rummage sale on Saturday. They have been going to flea markets for years and have a lot of good stuff. I'm going to put a few things out - mostly extra furniture that I just don't have a place for. I'm hoping to sell more than I did last year at the same sale. I can hear them outside starting to get ready for the sale. I'll wander over there soon to see what the timing is.

Her husband passed away very suddenly in May. She's been sitting up in her room a lot watching tv. Her window is right over my deck. When they finished last night she leaned over to the window and said "Beautiful deck, much better than the old one" It made me smile.

I downloaded Windows 10 on my laptop last night. If you download it, I suggest doing the "custom" install rather than the "express". If you do the express you give permission to use your location, send info to Microsoft and other things I'm not really fond of doing. You can turn them all off if you do custom. I haven't played with the apps much yet, but so far it's working fine without having any of those things turned on. It is much better than Windows 8 was.
-
I have Windows 7......do you have to download all of your add-ons again? What happens to your Word program?
Does your current OS just disappear? I would hate to lose all of my programs that I use.

I have Windows 7 on my other computers. Windows 10 is closer to Windows 7 than Windows 8. It has some differences but not that many. All my files and other programs are still there. There is a new internet browser, but I just had to click on "import favorites" and all my favorites were there. I think Windows 8 is gone, not sure
-
Windows 10 calls all programs apps. So it says "Show all apps" it's organized a little differently, but everything seems to be there plus some new things I haven't checked out

I've been wondering if, whenever I get my next computer, I should just get Windows 10 and totally skip everything before it. Or would going directly from XP to 10 be too much of a culture shock?
-
And is it true that Solitaire now has to be a paid subscription??
-
I just watched the getting started video. There are some cool things on here. I think I'm going to like this a lot
-
Thanks for the info DR CILLA LIZ....I am still thinking about it.
-
It has a personal assistant like Siri called Cortana. I'm not using it because I don't like to have my location etc sent to Microsoft. You can make modifications to it, but I don't really need it

Soaking the rags with ammonia worked great. We never had them in our trash again even though we only used the rags a few times.

That is hot! It will be in the high nineties here today.

Keith installed it yesterday but I haven't looked at it yet.

No word yet from Charlotte. I do hope i will see her today. She's heading to Italy soon.
-
Hey, all!
TOD: Not at all a fan of "reality TV," but I admit to enjoying not-overly-gimmicked cooking competitions (the original Iron Chefs, "Chopped" when it has real talent on). There's also a soft spot in my heart for "Queer Eye." Hate, hate, hate all 10 minutes of "American Idol" that I've seen.
-
Thunderstorms are here!

My mom always did. I have fabric cushions, I keep them in the garage and they look just as nice as they did the day I bought them

I really do like it so far. I was ready to throw this laptop out my living room window, now it seems to work great. It was WIndows 8
-
Hard to say the worst reality TV. I think it's all the following the people type shows like the one Kirstie Allie did or the Kardashians or any of those.
-
I enjoy a lot of reality shows like Dancing with the Stars, some seasons of the Amazing Race and others. I know they aren't "reality" but I don't care, I'm entertained
-

I would never define a talent show like that a "reality" show. But that's just me.

I hate all the reality shows.
-
I've had a lovely visit with Charlotte who will fly to Italy with her parents on Sunday for nine(?) days. when she's back, we'll see a movie. That cheered me up.
It is so steamy outside. i open the apartment door and my glasses steam up.
-
Guess what's on its way to me?
-
Congrats to MR BK on his SCORE!!!
-
OMG that is beautiful, BK.
-
Yes, very nice. It has been a long time since the last time I saw this kind of artwork for "Li'l Abner"!
-
It's cherce.
-
Four!
-
I think that "reality" is a misapplied word in most of the shows.
When I watch "Big Brother", I'm fully aware I'm watching a game AND a semi-scripted and quite-often-over-performed show that has become a part of the game.
-
Guess what's on its way to me?
Excellent.
-
Is there a website that talks about the unused songs for Valley of the Dolls? I've searched around a bit, and can't find anything - although I did find a audio version of Judy Garland singing "I'll Plant My Own Tree" with a slightly different arrangement than what is used in the movie when Margaret Whiting sings it.....I guess Eileen Barton sang it on the soundtrack LP (and Dory Previn sang the title tune) because of contract differences......
-
Congrats to MR BK on his SCORE!!!
Ditto! It looks great!

Less humidity is good.
-
DR Jennifer at 102 degrees Fahrenheit (38.89 degrees Celsius) we came pretty close to reaching your temps. We just returned from a walk in the sun. I drank a lot of water when we returned.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work and head home. I feel like I'm supposed to (or I wanted to) do some shopping, but I can't think of what for. Oh, well. It'll eventually come to me...or not. ;)
Until later.

Yesterday was a busy day at work then I left a little after 8 and went to Target to buy some new bedding for my dad'snewhospital bed
-
When I got there I discovered they were holding their "get ready for college" sale and all bedding and towels were on sale
-
In addition they had a coupon giving $25 off $100 and $10 off $50
-
I had more than $150 worth and the cashier kindly split my order so I got e full $35 off and since I used my target card I got. An additional 5% discount.
-
So not only did Dad get several sheet sets but we now have some nice new towels and new bath rug
-
Then I went to my folks and helped get Dad ready for bed
-
by times bit home I was exhausted
-
I tried to catchup but fell asleep

A page change is a-comin'
-
It's comin' very soon.
-
If you see the loo on the roof you know
-
It's all due to that darned raccoon.
-
Dumb, I know, but it at least gets us to
-
PAGE 5!
-
Page five? Really?
-
Had a fun lunch meeting with Sami's mom and a friend of hers who happens to be a huge long-time fan of mine - always fun to hear what made people fans - in this case it was seeing Stages at the Matrix Theatre and falling in love with the show - he has hanging in his office the lyrics to the title song of that show. Very nice fellow.
-
Had a turkey sandwich and no fries or onion rings.
-
Then we had our second rehearsal - went very well, although I really wish people would be completely off book by the second rehearsal so that I could actually direct them. Some were, some weren't - by Saturday they all will be.
-
I did have a classic BK moment due to our MD not understanding the change that I wanted to make to the ride out of one number. For me, it was an incredibly simple change - basically the same ride out but adding one bar. I hummed it over and over and over and over and over and still he could not get it through his head. It was SO simple I just finally went berserk. No one knows quite what to do when I'm finally pushed into that land, but I can only hum and talk through something about twenty times before that journey is complete. And still he did not get it. In fact, he did every other possible thing you could do BUT what I wanted. He finally said that he couldn't figure it out because I'd had him originally go back to the vamp of the first song in the put-together - but that vamp and the second song vamp are almost identical. Once I understood that, I told him to just do what I was humming all along, which was the vamp to the second song with the added bar - and still he could not figure it out. I finally did what I should have done from the start - just walked over to the piano and showed him. When I got to the piano I looked at the intro vamp to the second song and there was everything I wanted save for the final beat. THEN he finally understood. I apologized to everyone, but boy was it frustrating.
-
Then I did a two and a half mile jog. I do have to eat a little something so probably a couple of those low-cal tortilla things will be a nice snack and I'll have eaten well under 1000 calories when you factor in the jog.
-
That was one heckuva ride out story.
-
Watching "Kingsman: The Secret Service." It's great that the pug's name is J.B., just like the bird.
-
Nice poster BK
-
This lyric keeps gointhrough my head
Rocky Raccoon fell back to his room only to find Gideon's Bible.
Gideon checked out, and left it, no doubt, to help with poor Rocky's revival

I'm afraid I'm not finding "Kingsman" too enjoyable any more. There's a seen of a mass shooting in a church that's really hard to stomach.

Something must be in the air today. I had a similar experience with an idiot of an IT person at work. I spared him the meltdown, but my co-workers felt too much of my pain.
