Well, you've read the notes, the notes arrived in August, and now it is time for you to post until the august August cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PROPITIOUS!
-
First post after BK!
-
Poor Nicky threw up tonight. I think it is from the heat.
-
He is now zonked out on my bed, so I guess he is feeling better
-
First in the actual morning! Am I up early, or are other people sleeping late today?
-
Great eye news from TCB!
-
TOD: Skip makes the VERY best gourmet mac-and-cheese. He bases it on a recipe from the book TWENTY by Michael Ruhlman. It uses a Soubise sauce, for those who follow cooking terms.
(As far as restaurants' mac-and-cheese, Schnipper's on 8th and 41st is quite good, especially when you mix it with some of their Sloppy Joe, which you can with a dish they call "Mac & Joe.")
-
Good morning, all.
A bit early for me to be arising on a Saturday, but hey.
-
Hi TCB just saw you question from last night. The new bed seems to be working out well, dad has been sleeping through the night and has not attempted to get out of bed. I was concerned the bed rails would upset him but it has it appeared to be a problem
-
Chas if the vixter and I can come to see Assasins we will have to leave very early in the morning so we have time to explore that charming town
-
Good morning, all.
A bit early for me to be arising on a Saturday, but hey.
If you hurry you can join Vixdad and me for breakfast at IHOP
-
I see swishy Sarah made a cameo appearance last night
-
I am sorry I missedher
-
Today I will finish the power washing of the deck. In a better world that would have been completed yesterday, but what with having to run down to the Home Depot for one thing and then another (new garden hose, etc. etc.) and other sundry things cropping up, it just didn't happen.

i can only imagine , does he ever serve it as a side along with his amazing fried chicken ?
-
DR vixmom, I still need to explore that charming town. And actually eat something there at some point.

Damn!
I'm afraid the closest I'll get to that today will be these frozen Aunt Jemima blueberry waffles some idiot must have snuck into my cart at Shop Rite yesterday.
-
I have no idea how those got home and into my freezer. Does anyone else know? Did one of you do that??
-
Well, regardless, they must now be eaten so they don't harm anyone else.
-
There also just happens to be some marvelous maple syrup in the cupboard. I'm not sure how that got there either.
-
Two macs and cheeses of note:
The down home version of my mother's that was one of the supreme comfort food highlights of my growing up life.
Years later, the first "gourmet" version a friend made with seven (can that be right?) cheeses that was to die for but thankfully I didn't. I've enjoyed many others since, but none has reached those heights.
-
I likes it plain and I likes it fancy.

I blame Jose
-
I ordered "off menu".

I likes it plain and I likes it fancy.
You'd fit right ininLancastet PA
-
Good morning, all! I slept late and here I am. When I woke I, was caught up in a Drama Book Shop dream about a faulty volume of slang terms.
-
I have no plans for today or tomorrow, absolutely none. I am thinking that tomorrow i will do laundry and possibly go to a movie.
-
Good news, DR TCB!
I need more coffee and a trek to the corner bodega.
-
The Broadway production of GANTRY starred Robert shaw and Rita Moreno, and there was a later version starring Casey Biggs that played regionally. i have never seen the film no read the novel.
-
Nice clip from DR JOHNG - I had never seen it, now I have. I am still not sure how I feel about the show......but as Lina Lamont said: "It was nice and loud!"
-
Page Two.
Congrats to DR TCB on his iReport.
-
Selling vibes for DR CILLA LIZ.
-
I'm not 40! Although my taste in music might lead one to believe otherwise...
-
Jack, nice job with the family meeting
-
swishy!!! Welcome back, you have been missed!
-
First post after BK!
I'm glad I was only the last post.
-

Very good news!

Vibes Nicky stays well!

;D
-
Thanks DR VIXMOM.
-
Happy Saturday, everyone.
And happy August.
-
The farewell party last night was bittersweet but quite wonderful.
-
I'm up, I'm up. All my good intentions of getting to sleep earlier went out the window when I simply could not fall asleep despite trying to knock myself out with NyQuil, which was a mistake anyway since that stuff makes me even more gucky. I woke up at eleven, stayed in bed and fell right back asleep for another hour. So, I'm sure I got at least eight hours if not nine.
-
Whether my voice will be in any shape to sing today is another story.
-
Did a jog and just trying to get all this guck out of me before rehearsal.
-
Get-the-guck-out vibes to BK!!!!
-
My listening today went from Victor Herbert to Nino Rota's score for "Juliet of the Spirits," which I would like to see again. I love Rota's music, and I think tomorrow i may listen to Rota's opera "The Italian Straw Hat," which is based on the farce by Labiche.
-
Voice and rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
Well once again I took some things over to the rummage sale and even though they sold a ton of stuff, no one even looked at my really nice chairs or the table chair combo. About noon I just brought them home. I did make $2. Of course I spent more than that, lol
-
Voice and rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.
Ditto!
-
Page two? Really?
-
Rehearsal in twenty minutes.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
TCB, so glad to hear your good eye report. (Of course, you now have TWO good eyes.)
-
Congrats to Cilla on today's big sales.
-
continued vibes to all who are ailing.
-
I'm trying to find someone to help with the cleaning. I had someone in mind, but her English proved to be almost non-existent. I've put out some feelers.
-
It's been a quiet day.
-
Nothing of much excitement to report.
-
Except that we've reached page 3!
-
Hi, Jeanne!
-
I must return to my to-do list.
TTFN.
-
Oh, hi, Fred!
-
Must scoot.
-
Whether my voice will be in any shape to sing today is another story.

I am at my parents' house because my dad's younger sister is visiting from California for the next 10 days. His older sister was supposed to visit also, but she has some medical issues that prevented her from coming.
-
Right now, however, everyone seems to be taking a nap, so I'm going to go home for a bit before I need to be at the tech rehearsal for "An Improbable Peck of Plays Vol. IV." I'll go back to me parents' after rehearsal.
Until later!
-
There was a chance of thunderstorms all day. But luckily it was a gorgeous day and it only started raining/thundering at 6pm.
-
I went for a bike ride this morning and was really tired by the end. The heat plus the wind wore me out.
-
Then went to the pool this afternoon.
-
well DR CILLA LIZ $2 is $2.

It struck my funny bone that you are at your parent's while everyone naps. I would go home too.
-
I went for a bike ride this morning and was really tired by the end. The heat plus the wind wore me out.
The first several weeks we walked the Renaissance Trail here I kept yelling at the bikers to ring a bell. I have given up since I kept embarrassing Keith-lol. He is very sweet though as he keeps me on the edge of the path and walks the inside so he will be hit first.
-
Then went to the pool this afternoon.
I swam this morning and we walked this afternoon.
-
I'm sure DR Jennifer worked harder at both activities than I did. While walking I was also eating an Espresso Mocha Almond Fudge ice cream cone.
-
Since we have had to call 911 to pick up my dad several times in the past week we thought we should look into some kind of patient lift.
-
I started looking online and they are terribly expensive,
-
I posted on my churches Facebook page that I was looking for a patient lift
-
Then I looked on Craig's list and someone in my town was sellinfpg a brand new electric lift ! Never used for a fraction of the list price
-
I emailed. And a woman called back said it had been purchased for her husband but he had passed before it was ever used.
-
She gave me her address, she lives a block away from my folks. On the same street!
-
I stopped up at church to ask the propert head (who happens to be 6'6" and young and strong) if he could help me get it should it seem feasible
-
Before I could say a word he says "you know my friend who passed last month. His wife lives on your folks block and she has one... Only there is already a woman going over to see her about it....if she doesn't buy it. You can have it"
-
That woman was me!!
-
Today we moved some furniture out of the room and tomorrow we will have the lift!
-
We won't even need a truck we are going to be able to wheel it right down the block
-
Had a really good stumble-through with only a handful of lyric flubs that were all covered nicely. I got through my song fine, but I have to just keep my mouth shut tonight and tomorrow until sound check - very gucky and nasally.
-
Then I went and had a Cobb salad and no bagel.
-
How amazing, DR vixmom. What good fortune.
-
~ ~ ~ GUCK BEGONE VIBES ~ ~ ~ for bk!!!
-
We are watching the LA Philharmonic/John Williams PBS concert. Very entertaining.
-
Earlier today we watched Marilyn Monroe in Niagara, both seeing it for the first time. We enjoyed it.
-
DR Cillaliz - I admire your bravery in upgrading so quickly to Windows 10. I am going to wait a while for the kinks to be worked out, much as I hate the current Windows version.
-
Really.
-
Page 4.
-
Really.
-
Good evening, all.
-
I bought the new book everybody's talking about this summer.
-
It isn't from Harper Lee.
-
Or Flannery O'Connor. Or Irwin Shaw. Or Agatha Christie.
-
It's "What Pet Should I Get?"
-
From Dr. Seuss.
-
That's my news for today.
-
Except I went to celebrate a friend's birthday.
-
It was nice. He smoked a brisket. His wife made a smoked salmon salad. I brought wine.
-
I also put up some sugar-free watermelon pickles.
-
And I spent a few hours in dance classes.
-

Here's an image from the Dance Dynamics class.

I'm the one on the right.
-
Hello, 1 guest.
-
Off to get a little work done.
-
TOD:
I really haven't had a lot of mac n' cheese, but I must the mac n' cheese at The Federal is pretty darn good. I only had it once, but I think there was bacon in it and just about anything with bacon in it is good.
-
Words of wisdom.
-
That vixmom knows how to tell a good story.
-
Great story DR Vixmom.
-
Tonight, my friend made a mac and cheese to go with the brisket. He smoked the onion and jalapeno that went in it and then added cream, cheese and pasta. It was quite wonderful.
-
Five!
-
We won't even need a truck we are going to be able to wheel it right down the block
:)
-
I think my favorite style of mac and cheese comes with a mixture of cheese and breadcrumbs on top that gets all gooey and crunchy at the same time.
I've had lobster mac and cheese, green chile mac and cheese, bacon mac and cheese, brisket mac and cheese.
All the additions are OK, but I think I prefer it plain as long as the cheese is good. A touch of truffle oil also works.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good evening.
-
The most recent one I had was bacon and jalapeno mac and cheese -- which sadly was a little too strong on the jalapeno, overpowering the bacon. In better balance it would have been a wonderful thing. Well, it was still a wonderful thing. But it's just wrong when bacon gets overpowered.
-
Finished with my viewing. Feeling a little congested but I think some of that is just being tired still.
-
Well, we are on page five!
-
My mother made great mac and cheese. Homemade, not from a box.
-
However, the best mac and cheese is my niece's homemade.
-
She has to have a fork lift to take it out of the oven.
-
A heart attack in every bite!
-
But, damn, it is good!
-
Hello 2 Guests. Why don't you come in and play?
-
It was a little cooler here today.
-
It only got up to 90 in Tacoma.
-
97 here.
-
I have been thinking about making mac and cheese the last couple of days. I use colby jack and sour cream.
-
Tomorrow, they say it will get to 90, but I am betting on the mid-eighties.
-

Yum! What time is dinner?
-
Tomorrow is Hydroplane Race Sunday. In the 50's and 60's this was the biggest sporting event in Seattle each year.
-
My family never missed watching the races on TV. My mom loved them. I remember that our family would go into mourning when one of the driver's would be killed.
-
So, it is hot dogs for dinner tomorrow!
-
I guess when Jane read that I was coming for dinner, she left to go clean house.
-
I should have said I was kidding.
-
It is pill-popping time.
G'night!
-
I've already popped a few pills myself.
-
I guess when Jane read that I was coming for dinner, she left to go clean house.
We were watching Wanted Dead or Alive.
I don't know when I will make it. I think it should be a side dish instead of the main meal. It really isn't the healthiest of dishes. I used to make it all the time and served it with broccoli.
-
I should have said I was kidding.
;D

That is why I don't watch car racing.
-

Until later!
I'm home and have been for about an hour. Rehearsal was just watching the stage manager who is also the lighting designer set some light levels...for about two hours. That's it. :-\ I really didn't need to be there, but it's okay.
-
Anyway, after that, I went back to my parents' and we played Phase 10 (I won!), but the one game we played took more than three hours. I don't think we've ever taken that long. It was fun, though.
-
Tomorrow, my dad and aunt are going to church, then they with my mom are going to a barbecue at some friends of theirs. I have rehearsal at 4:00, so I won't be going to the barbecue. I'll get to stay home and sleep in.
