For today, I only hope for a lighter allergy day than yesterday.  Last night's was one of those attacks that makes you feel like you have a real cold.  I do not need another day like that.

Yesterday was a weird computer day: at one point, everything froze, so I turned the computer off to reboot it. Then, it would not turn on, as though the start button was no longer connecting.  after several minutes of sheer panic on my end, i unplugged everything and the computer started up, but . . .

after I logged on, nothing would download. The search engines were running, I was told I had emails but nothing beyond that happened.

Then, my TV went wonky and I could not change channels.  I called Time Warner to learn that "there was a problem."

Around 5:30 my cable box finally showed stability and the TV was back up and running.

I deleted several apps from my computer and downoaded them again. Everything finally seemed to be running slowy, but running.  this Mac has to last another six weeks before I can even think of purchasing another.

I think Sunday in the Park with George was the first time I saw images projected onto thte stage. It worked there, because when the images were off, the white stage resembled "a blank page or canvas, so many possibilities," as the show says. I have found some limited-budget productions to use them effectively, and I've seen a few large-budget attempts that looked cheap. I think it depends on the designer.

I'm thinking Evita was my first, when it opened at the Shubert in Century City.

Of course projections are common now for plays and musicals, certainly on the amateur level where I often think they're something of a crutch...so my gut reaction is to brace myself for some cringing.

I wish I had been able to see the original Broadway production of Jane Eyre. The musical one from 2000. From what I understand, a lot of that set consisted of 3-D virtual projections.

And The Woman in White (Andrew Lloyd-Webber) also relied on projections quite heavily.

Theater Artists Olympia has used projections but three of them were very cool (I think) and quite effective.  We did a stage adaptation of Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs," Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus," and our current show, "The HEAD! That Wouldn't DIE!!"

Had a very weird day at the dance studio. Ended up helping the owner, Esteban, with a private party who had booked the studio for two hours. It was a group of four women, each completely unlike the others. And I think one of them was rich enough to offer the dance party as a alternative to a mani-pedi party.

It started with one woman asking if it were okay to take the classes without her top on, simply her bra, and without waiting for an answer, she did. Then it was quickly discerned that the women were not all equally interested in dance lessons, so my partner Joy and I stepped in to help and essentially had to babysit each woman for the entire time.

They had fun. I think that's all that mattered.
