Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written in October, and now it is time for you to post until the October cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PREPOTENCE!

First post after BK!

Internet is working this morning, yay!
-
TOD, i thought the worst audience behavior was at a play that had a rather brief nude scene (it was a revival of Noel Coward's "Present Laughter"), an audience member took a flash photo, to the clear dismay of the actor.
-
I'm glad you resolved your issue with the Macbeths, Larry. But truly, I wonder if the attention and well-deserved respect you're now getting in your hometown has made them sorry they ever distanced you, which is imagining that they are shallow people, but that may be the case.
-
Good morning, all! Today I finish packing and pray for good flying weather tomorrow.
-
I have a vague memory of a travel dream: heading to the Newark airport with music copyist Don Oliver and dealing with one piece of luggage on wheels, a shoulder bag, a shopping bag, and a cane. Welcome to my nightmare!
-
Last night, Time Warner's internet went down. Yesterday morning, it was Time Warner TV.
WTF?
-
I expected an email from the Macbeths this morning, but there was none. Randy and Jo got their invitation to the dinner before my event on Wednesday, although I know that Jo is unhappy that it's past her bedtime. I will tell them that if they want to leave after dinner, that's fine with me. i just want them to know I would like them there.
-
Thursday morning greetings! Well, it looks like I bade you all good night and then forgot to log out. I blame the eye drops, which seem to be out of my system this morning.
-
As to the Macbeths, DR FJL, Randy thinks Lady M is the one who wants to be there. Ity will give her something "classy" to boast to her few friends. I have no doubt that my brother wants some sort of reconciliation, but the event next week is not the place and, as far as my feelings go, the moment has passed.
The time for any rapprochement was in 2007 when we settled my dad's estate, but Lady M refused. She really had no business putting herself into a conflict with three brothe's over their father's estate and Macbeth should have told her to butt out. I waited until 2009 for some effort on their part, gave up, and then in 2010 removed them from my will. To my thinking, I have one brother eleven years young than I and a brother who died in 2007, about six months after my father.
Jo told me that if the Macbeths show up, she will not.

If it's any comfort, Offenbach's Helen of Troy blames all of her indiscretions and romances on fatalité.

Has any DR used Orbitz or Expedia for a car rental?
-
Lousy audiences? WHITE CHRISTMAS, 2008, 2 house seats @ $150 each, about Row M, smack center, and four empty seats directly in front of me and my friend Chris.
Behind us, a group of high school kids with cups of soda and crushed ice which they jingled throughout the performance, or loudly chewed on ice, or talked amongst themselves.
About 45 minutes into Act One, the two couples who had the four empty seats arrived to great noise and shifting of audience. The older man and woman sat on the ends and the young 20-ish couple sat directly in front of me and made out as though they were at the drive-in throughout the entire damned performance. I doubt thewy saw a single moment of the production.
-
TOD:
I don't recall witnessing any bad audience behavior in a legitimate theater, but when I saw THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT in a movie theater, at the end of the film, the audience stood up together and "Booed".
-
The US Post Office spends a small fortune annually on large rubber bands for my mail, so why, when I need heavy rubber bands, can I find none of them?

Don't forget your rubbers!

Don't forget your rubbers!
Don't forget I will need Huge Travel Vibes tomorrow!

good morning to all

I believe i used Expedia whenever I flew to LA. It always seemed that Alamo was cheapest, but it may not be so where you are going.

More like badly photoshopped. :)

I have a very busy day ahead and little time to use my computer. With the wifi booster the speed is much faster. I also arranged it on my desk the way the computer I couldn't keep was. While I would still prefer the slightly larger screen it is more comfortable now. Instead of using the laptop keyboard I don't like, I have the computer flipped with just the monitor up, but to the side of my desk so it looks better, and my good keyboard and mouse in front of me.

One of the colleges paid out $1.3? Really?? A dollar and thirty cents? That's pretty insulting. ;)

TOD:
I think some of the worst behavior I've ever seen was at a S.T.A.G.E. performance. Mark and I were in about the 4th or 5th row off to the side, but the obnoxious people were in the second row, center. Our very own Bruce Kimmel was sitting in the front row right in front of the obnoxious people. They talked loudly throughout the whole thing and kept drinking and going out for more alcohol so they could get more drunk and be even more obnoxious. We heard about it from Bruce in the Notes the next day. Oh yes, we heard about it the next day.
-
I've suffered a little bit of bad audience behavior here and there, but nothing comes to mind that I could put up against that one of DR Amy and BK's, or DR Elmore's.
-
Nice FEZ photos from MR BK and DR CHAS SMITH and DR SINGDAW.
I am still looking for a fez so that I may add my contribution.....time will tell.
Vibes for the closing weekend for MR BK & Co.

SAFE AND EASY TRAVEL VIBES FOR DR ELMORE!!!
-
VIBES YOU ARE RELAXED AND ENJOY YOURSELF!!!
I know they will love you.
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
TOD:
I think the worst was when I went to the Baz Luhrman film of Romeo + Juliet. Someone was on his phone throughout, talking and talking about how he couldn't understand what the actors were saying. We tried shushing him and even got management in there, but it continued until he was asked to leave. Then he really started talking loudly.
-
Lovin' the fez photos.
-
What phez fotos?
-
We don't need no stinkin' fez photos!

(But really, we do.)

Relevant to curtains and my comment about "Wicked":
You are right, Bruce. It was more of a scrim upon which some very interesting graphics were projected.

MASSIVE TRAVEL VIBES TO DR ELMORE!!
Relax, stay calm, and have a great trip!
May all proceed smoothly.
-
I'm once again trying to get through to UCLA. I'd been told that they'll be doing my right eye first (next Tuesday), but the pharmacist said the left eye. Oy! I need to know. (You only use the eye drops on the eye being operated on, and as I'm allergic to the drops in the first place I really don't want to use any more of them than absolutely necessary.)
-
I bought a new cell phone. It's horrible--drops calls, breaks up, won't let me answer incoming calls. Ugh! I'll have to return it, but I still have much to do before the surgery and really no free time.
-
the fezes? fezzes? are very feztive.

Yes certainly travel vibes for DR ELMORE.....as his trip inches closer.

DR JEANNE I think the word OY! was invented for situations such as yours.
-
One of my favorite stage curtain stories was related in a review by Walter Kerr and reprinted in his book Pieces At Eight.
I think the show he was writing about was called Buttrio Square:
....is a little orphan of a musical. During its birthing we read how the producers were begging people for more money so that the curtain could go up. The actors and writers took cuts in pay so that the curtain could go up. Last night Buttrio Square suffered its greatest indignity - the curtain went up......

Since it looks like I will be doing more recorded interviews requiring transcription, I purchased Dragon Naturally Speaking voice recognition software. The tutorial is quite interesting, although it looks like it may take some getting used to. I think DR TCB has mentioned this product in the past.

That is an understatement!

Went to a new jernt that I've driven by and jogged by for over fifteen years and have never tried - Uncle Andre's Barbecue, just a couple of minutes away on Moorpark. It's in a horrid little strip mall. But Yelp sent me a thing about barbecue in the Valley and I read up on Uncle Andre's, which has pretty divisive reviews. Apparently more of a soul food/barbecue place, which I suppose confuses people. After reading the raves about the fried chicken, I ordered the chicken strips - there were only three of them but they were extremely filling, especially with my two sides - mac-and-cheese and potato salad. The latter were really quite good, and the fried chicken strips were great. They had squeeze bottles of their barbecue sauce on the table so I had a little taste of that. Many of the reviews complained that the sauce was too fruity for certain people. Now, when I read fruity I think sweet. Well, this thing had no sweetness and was all vinegary and kind of yucky-tasting, so I don't think I'll be trying the barbecue there. But fruity? These reviewers are nut jobs.
-
After that I came home and began writing. I'm now over halfway through the commentary.
-
We have, at this point, a small house tonight, but larger than it was yesterday when I checked. Yesterday it was eight people. Today it's more like twenty-two, so hopefully we'll have thirty by show time. We added this performance because a bunch of people said they would love to see it but couldn't do the weekend schedule. Naturally every single one of those people are now too busy to come to the performance we added for them. I am quite done with certain people and hopefully they'll be smart enough to never again invite me to anything they do, because not only shan't I go, I shall give them an earful about WHY I shan't go.
-
Really? Two hours? REALLY?
-
BK is at 82,500. The number's probably not officially a milestone, but it looks like one.
-
I am now posting for the sake of posting, as DR Cillaliz would say.
And that's a good thing

I've used a past version, I had to make corrections when I used it, but having most of it done correctly makes it a lot easier

Well, I'm at the theater and we have a small audience for our $5 preview. They like it!
-
Today, I drove a friend to the airport, so I had no Internet access during my trip.
-
I went to Silver Platters and bought a whole bunch of CDs! 18 of them, to be exact. :D
-
I brought them home before I came to the theater, so I can't list them.
-
DR TCB - I am so thrilled for you!!
-
I was at a concert tonight - Beethoven trios. Piano, cello, & violin. Fabulous!
-
However, the only new CD that I bought was Himself and Nora (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K0NANOA/).

I listened to it in my friend's car (she has a CD player) and really enjoyed it.

I am thrilled to be cast, but my excitement has been lessened.

Several months ago, after a thirty-year cooling off period, my ex-wife and I have rekindled a friendship on Facebook. We have been exchanging message three or four times a week, sometimes more. We have both worried if we didn't hear from the other in three days or more. A lot of time has been spent complaining about our medical ills. Me my wheelchair, she her COPD. I knew her health was poor, but we laughed a lot. I have been worried lately because her blood pressure had soared and she was having several additional problems. I was relieved when I learned that my step-daughter was moving back to Washington this week.
I just heard from my step-daughter. My ex is currently in the hospital and will be coming home in a few days with Hospice. Her COPD is now end stage. I didn't realize that it would affect me so much.
-
That is awful, DR TCB. {{{hugs}}}
-
I'm sorry, TCB. Hugs.

Intermission is almost over and I'm now also ketchuping on the posts...finally.

And we're done! Tomorrow we have our official opening night!
-
Travel vibosity for elmore.
-
Back from tonight's performance. We only had about twenty-three people, but they were a GREAT audience. Really big laughs throughout. Sami was very good but not as sharp as last Sunday - this happens when you go four days without doing the show and it especially happens when the stage manager doesn't show up until half-hour and leaves the leading lady outside waiting and gives her only a half-hour to get into make-up and prepare. She didn't have the hour she absolutely needs - she never even got her fingernails painted green so she had to do some fancy hiding when that lyric appears in the show. I think the proper prep time just flummoxed her a bit and who can blame her. Despite that, she was VERY funny tonight and in excellent voice and the audience ate her up. I think this will be the final time I ever work with this stage manager - just amateur night to do this. She texted me at four-thirty and told me she might run a bit late and asked if I would open the theater at six-thirty. I told her that wasn't my job and I probably wouldn't get there until ten to seven and that Sami would definitely be there by six-forty-five. She said she didn't think she'd be any later than that. Well, she was - forty-five minutes later than that. And I don't give a crap WHAT the excuse was - this is her job, not a toy and there is an actress who has to have her head on straight to hold an audience for eighty-five minutes. I did arrive at six-forty but in one of those crazy things, I didn't have the key with me - turns out I'd accidentally left it in the pants I wore last Sunday - I thought I'd removed everything from those pockets but the key got left behind for some reason.
-
Good for Sami to have a good show in spite of unforseen circumstances.
-
I'm home now. I want to sleep, but I also need to stay up for a little bit more.
-
