Well, you've read the notes, the notes had art and did a take, and now it is time for you to post until the arty cows come home.

TOD:  For songs - I remember in Boston seeing "Woman of the Year" in its tryout, there were several laughs in "The Grass is Always Greener" that actually covered quite a fewof the following lines.  After "You can have my husband" "I've already had your husband" the laughter had built so that it lasted until the button of the number, followed by the wild applause for the song.  (I don't recall the same duration of laughter when I saw the show in New York.)

For dialogue, the longest laugh I can remember (which erupted into rippling sustained applause) was in the Kennedy Center MAME, when Mother Burnside made her entrance looking so distressed over her son's engagement to Mame, and said "What do you mean I don't look happy, Beauregard?"  The timing was exquisite, and you could feel the power of such a big laugh on an audience - the laugh at her entrance seemed to energize the whole scene which followed.     (Mary Stout played Mother Burnside, Eric Schaeffer was the director.)

Good morning, all!  My nephew Matt is about to become a father and Jo is throwing a shower for thirty people. Randy and I have been ordered to get lost after 12:30 so we are going shopping, and he is going to give me a tutorial on this Toyota I am driving.

I had to look up the character name for this one.

In what basically a very dismal show the musical version of The Goodbye Girl had a character Ricky Simpson which was basically a spoof and a vey wicked one of Richard Simpson. The audience was laughing so hard and long at the scene and character that nothing in the rest of the show match it. The old adage was true I laugh until it hurt.

I'll agree. I saw it in NYC and Marilyn Cooper and the scene was the best thing about the show.

Good morning, all.

I was in the deepest sleep having an epic dream of an intensity I haven't seen in a while, and when I suddenly awoke from it I felt like the proverbial truck had run over me.  Might have slept a little bit longer, but felt it better to get the hell out of bed and shake it all off.

Coffee!

Wife Sandy and I listened to the WELCOME TO MY WORLD CD last night.

Terrific stuff!  Really enjoyed it.

Of course, we haven't seen it live, but the only problem with this show (as I see it) is that, because it's about a 14-year old girl, you're going to have to re-cast it every couple of years.

But, I guess they had to do that with ANNIE, too.

Any chance of your filming a full video production of the show?

She of the Evil Eye is here and I have to leave.  The problem is my tummy feels terrible so I don't think I should be eating anything this morning - I don't want to just go sit and have a soda, so I'm in a quandary.  Driving probably isn't the best thing to do either.  There is a book fair today in Pasadena, but I'm not in that mode right now.

Keith & I looked at the matinee schedule for "Second Samuel".  There are 2:00 shows on January 24th, January 31st, and February 7th. Weather permitting we would drive up to Tacoma, see the show and spend the night so we can have a relaxing dinner with George & TCB.

DR George & DR TCB what do you think of this plan?  TCB would it be too much for you to go out after a show?

Something is nutty on Amazon.  We had one review up - posted a few days ago - I could see there was one review and that it was five stars but I couldn't actually see the review, which took almost two days to appear.  Now I can see there's another five-star review, which I'd love to read, but which isn't showing up.  What gives?

That's weird.  I clicked on several different links and could only see one review, but when I clicked on the "5 star" link next to the 5-star bar that shows the "100%" on the opposite side of "5 star", then the other review showed.  It's from Singdaw!

I went outside today and decided to touch up the paint on the windowsills outside  Then I found the left over paint from the gazebo and the left over stain from the garage.  So I touched up the window sills on the south and west sides of the house, scraped and repainted the places on the gazebo that needed it and touched up the stain on the west side of the garage.  Really looks better.  I'm sure no one will notice.  It's one of those jobs that you don't notice when it's done but do notice if it isnt'

Favorite courses were shredded goat meat over brown rice and a dessert of an apple-almond cake with tequila ice cream.

TOD:

The F.U. line in "The Odd Couple"

Some of the double takes on Wodehouse Playhouse

Charles Kimbrough in a revival of Hay Fever took a bite of an atrocious breakfast. Just as he was about to spit it out, he got caught and was forced to swallow it. The laughs were building, but then he followed it with the line, "It's not very good, is it?" At that point, the audience broke up and Kimbrough, just sitting there with this grotesque smile plastered on his face, somehow made things even funnier by the second.

Not at all.  That would work great.  I would never be too tired to dine with you and Keith and George!

If you have preferred dates let us know.  It is still early to decide but your schedule fills up faster than ours does ;)  How far ahead should we order tickets?

It would probably be best to avoid the last Sunday.  We will have strike, which I will have to help in some way.

Jane, if you're planning to spend the night, what if you came up early on a Saturday, have a lunch early enough for Tom to get to the theater, see the show Saturday night, and then you could leave Sunday.

Just a thought.

I read that as "inferior" Mexican foods and was wondering if the wine helped

Back from a very good performance - Sami just went out and played the damn show for our fifteen people.  I was more bothered by it than she was - the problem with fifteen people in a 99-seat theater is that they're not a group - and it's hard to get them to laugh, although they were very good and they did laugh and applauded really loudly.  But I am so pissed off at my "friends" who just couldn't be bothered to make time to see the show.  Some had legit excuses, but most didn't other than laziness.  I cannot wait until any of these folks need a favor or want me to see their show.  They are, I'm afraid, on the D list right now.
