Well, you've read the notes, the notes stopped and started, and now it is time for you to post until the stop and start cows come home.

I've heard nothing but that El Nino is going to be huge and that we have 100% chance of rain.  I've heard this since Saturday and today is the day it's 100%.  Really.  Funny, clear skies yesterday and the day before and no sign of anything right now.

I am not feeling very well - have a fever and am sweating, and I was up and back and forth to the bathroom at least once an hour all night.

I would prefer not to have to go in to work today, but looking at the appointment schedule, it may be unavoidable.

TOD:

I grow roses, a few of which are still blooming at this late date. The colors include several shades of orange, an heirloom that is purplish red, one yellow and one white.

I also have a Mexican love vine, which produces flowers that are both red and a fiery orange.

My favorite flowers are irises. I have not had any luck in growing those.

I love flowers.  I always buy a nice bouquet on Monday to have in the house all week.  Of course for several weeks after my father's funeral, we had plenty of flowers in the house.

I liked color tipped carnations.  They usually stay nice for a whole week.  Snapdragons are very pretty.  I like lilies, too.

We don't grow too many flowers, but we have a few out front - probably zinnias and tulips that are very colorful!

TOD - I think roses are overrated and they don't last.  Give me pink carnations any day.  And I love daffodils, the only flowers that grow in our yard.  We usually get one really good bouquet each spring.

TOD
I have probably about fifty rose bushes in my yard (front, sides and back). My favorites are the striped roses, which are mostly mini roses. The George Burns and Purple Tiger roses are especially lovely, but they don't last long. The Oranges and Lemons rose is nice too. The best large striped rose I have is called Rock n' Roll, which is stunning and lasts longer. The longest lasting rose I have is also very beautiful and it's called Perfect Moment. When I bought this house, I really got into gardening and learning all the different roses and their names, which I found very amusing when they're named after celebrities. I have a Barbara Streisand rose and a Rosie O'Donnell rose too. Then I started grooming dogs on the weekends and my roses are sadly very neglected now.
For smaller plants, I like to plant perennials so I don't have to replant constantly - they last a couple years. I like to plant impatiens in the Spring and cyclamens in the Winter because they bloom with no sun at all and I have a lot of areas that get no sun. For annuals that do need sun and only last a couple seasons, I like petunias in the Summer and pansies in the Winter, but I keep those areas small since they have to be replanted so often. I tried to grow gardenias once, but they never bloomed. Bulbs don't do well in Southern California because we always get a heat wave in the middle of December and they get confused and think it's Spring and start coming up. Most people here dig their bulbs up and put them in the fridge for the Winter, but who has time for that nonsense?!

I'm up, I'm up and I guess the days of getting eight hours of sleep are history.  They are now tearing down the house to the east of me.  That's the third in the last three months.  But this one is adjacent to this property and it's like they're in the backyard with those huge yellow machines that are making hash out of what used to be the most charming neighborhood in the Valley.  This isn't regular people doing this - this is developers buying up everything and knocking it down so they can make obscene profits.  I get it.  But I hate it.

The person I finally talked to the first time....after many menu options....and explained my problem to.....said...."Oh....I think you need to talk to a manager....and then of course.....I had to leave a voice mail with the 'manager' and my telephone number for him to call me back.

If I call again, I have to start all over.....or maybe he isn't in the office today....or maybe he didn't understand my telephone number.....

Many decisions.  I hate to call and talk to someone else.....and then he calls me back later today....

DR George I had planned to look for a keychain in Argentina today.  There were lots of nice gift shops there, however, our tour guide marched right past all the shops without even asking if we wanted to stop.

Maybe it was the heavy rain, however he walked very fast ahead during most of the falls walk today.  Fortunately the rain did not begin until we finished our walk of the falls.

I futzed and finessed - lots of little additions and subtractions, then the helper came by, then I went to the SAG pension office and filled out what I hadn't filled out, but they still need one piece of ID - a birth certificate.  If I have one I have no idea where it is.  They need it for proof of age.  I was surprised a driver's license wasn't good enough - it certainly has my age on it.

We are ready to go home.  Surprisingly the hotel said we can extend our check out time to 3:00 tomoorow since we don't leave for the airport until 4:00.   We will have a quiet day with a short walk along the falls.  It is convenient staying at the only hotel in the national park with the falls.

I've done eight pages so far, so will now take a break for a couple of hours, then try to do eight more.  I've started the new chapter.  Without elaborating, I will say that just about every chapter in the book takes place at a different restaurant and, as you might imagine, I'm having a lot of fun with that.

Yes, our huge storm watch storm lasted about five hours - it was coming down pretty good for a while.  The streets were all flooded even though every time they rip the damn streets up they assure us that they were doing it to fix that very problem, which they never fix.  Then the sun comes out and like magic all those flooded streets are suddenly not flooded.  It's supposed to continue raining but I'll believe it when I see it.

I've done eight pages so far, so will now take a break for a couple of hours, then try to do eight more.  I've started the new chapter.  Without elaborating, I will say that just about every chapter in the book takes place at a different restaurant and, as you might imagine, I'm having a lot of fun with that.

Do you plan to include the one we ate at last week? The elderly vs the hipsters?

I have done a bit of furniture rearranging, moving a chaise longue from my bedroom to the room with the TV. I'm hoping to make the watching of a movie a bit more comfortable.

But moving anything means dusting. Ugh.

Finished Clouds of Sils Maria. Very European and also very enjoyable. Theater folks should really like it, even if a plot twist that I won't give away will irritate some.

Just saw an odd video of "With a Little Bit of Luck" from a Japanese production of "My Fair Lady." It's part of a Shaw video that's an extra on a DVD of "The Devil's Disciple" with Patrick Stewart.

I saw the national tour of Pippin tonight.  I had seen the SF stop last October (2014) and disliked it quite a lot.  Tonight was the same tour but with a new Leading Player and Pippin - and they are fantastic.   I think my issue before was that the two leads were less than stellar (and the Pippin was the original Pippin on Broadway) and it made me dislike the show quite a lot.  I've always loved the score and have found (and still find) the book tedious and hard to tell the story.  But tonight was great.  Oh, and Adrienne Barbeau was Berthe and she was great.  Also, John Rubinstein is STILL playing the King (I saw him last year) and he's still great.
