SO I thought about it....and thought about it.....and then went and bought a new computer. It is okay.....BUT it has Windows 10, which I do not like.

Some of my programs are NOT compatible with W10 - including my POP Mail program, Thunderbird and Open Office. I did find AbiWord which is a WORD like program that is compatible, so I am hoping that works.

Still exploring things around the NEW computer - my advice to PC users....keep your Windows 7 or 8.1 or whatever as long as you can. Windows 10 seems to be designed for tablets and phones or whatever and NOT a desktop computer.

BUT I WILL SURVIVE.

One of the books I bought back in 2012....it's is most interesting with a lot of charts and cross references. I bought several Titanic books during that year, and I am reading them now.

Thanks, DR Jane! So far, so good - smooth cab ride to the airport, curbside bag check, and I survived security. I'm a little concerned because the guy who checked my bag thought briefly that I was going to Wilmington, NC, but my boarding passes are correct. We'll see where my suitcase goes...

That has got to be pricey today. Next time we can't get by with just our carry-on bags we might check into the alternatives. The liquid restrictions really get me because I'm so darn sensitive to products I can't easily find items I can buy along the way vs carrying them with me.

I considered that, DR Jane, and might have tried it but for 2 reasons:

1) My flights were not direct and I didn't want to have to navigate the Philadelphia airport with a suitcase and
2). For AAUW reasons I wound up having to bring my laptop and that made my carry-on too heavy on its own.

Then there are the other parts, the writing parts - and those parts are fun and that's what you have to concentrate on and hope the hell stuff just backs the hell off.

I chose my new keyboard mainly because it has illuminated keys, but also it was the only one at Office Depot (when I was there last week) that indicated it was compatible with everything from Windows XP to Windows 10. None of the other keyboards that were there (and I know I could've looked on-line and found something else) listed both XP and 10. I'm sure that I will have to get a new computer sometime this year, but I'm still holding out until the bitter end.

That is our reaction, however, having to transfer luggage through customs & checking it back in is a pain. Of course I would have preferred doing that to stressing over our missing bags, plus it took longer trying to find them than if the bags had been there.

When I started working at the library (where I still work), we started with Windows 3.0! I got my first hand-me-down computer with 3.1, if I remember correctly.

Finished the astronaut wives book, which makes me want to immediately re-watch every movie and documentary about the space years. I did order the From the Earth to the Moon series on DVD and another one I haven't seen whose title escapes my li'l brain at the moment.

So guess what the next book is? I just got it on Kindle.. THE MARTIAN! :)
