For the past two days I have been reading The Martian.  I had thought I could finish it yesterday, but that would have been pushing it.  Today, for sure, then back to some other things.  It's been a great read.

I'm very glad now that I didn't run out to the movie.  I've enjoyed picturing things the old fashioned way, and I'll enjoy the film for itself all the more later.

I had three dreams; I remember bits of two:

1.  At the intersection of I-75 and Roosevelt Boulevard in Middletown OH, a group of construction workers was stuck underground.

2.  I was at an oratorio concert at Carnegie Hall, a performance of Handel's Judas Maccabaeus (I think), conducted by a Broadway conductor of whom I think very little.  Joshie was there, recording it for Rob Berman, and our former DR Jose was in the audience.

All of these strange dreams from DR ELMORE and DR CHAS SMITH should diminish by the end of the Mercury Retrograde on January 25.

Tomorrow we have an alignment of five planets that will make things run more smoothly, but that may attract some difficulties in relationships - business and personal.

DR JRand65, I had a book about the Krays, which I bought in London in 2001 or 2002; I think it went out of the apartment during the bedbug mess of 2008.  I very much want to see LEGEND.  I really enjoyed the Brit film THE KRAYS: BONDED BY BLOOD, with Billie Whitelaw as their mother.

Maybe I'll dig around today and see if I still have the book.  I see that LEGEND is already on DVD in London.

Interesting tidbit:  Her doctor told her that her strain of flu was not included in this year's vaccine.

That happened a lot last year.  Question is, did she have the regular flu shot or the quad.

Back from Xeroxing, delivering pages and dealing with the little irritant which was kind of painless and fast.  So there.  Now I wait for Muse Margaret's call.  I was up at 7:30 and began futzing and finessing at 7:45.  But I'm really glad I did a lot of that last night, especially the addendum because I was pretty happy reading this morning.  I smoothed out a few things, added a couple of lines and reworded a few things and that was that.

Was just sitting on the couch, trying to watch a boring movie so I could sleep but sleep would not come and boy was the movie boring - The Last Five Years.  Never liked the show, but the movie trying to BE a movie makes hash of the show's concept and in so doing renders everything pointless.  I do like Anna Kendrick.  I had to chuckle when the record label who did the cast album is part of the producing team.  Shot on video of course -

Just had what can only be described as a heavenly phone call from Muse Margaret.  I was so petrified about the stuff I wrote over the last two days just because when I get to the end of something and struggle with it I always think I've ruined it - but I was heartened this morning when I read the finessed version of those pages.  Anyway, she had not one note - this has become her favorite book of all of my books.  She was so specific about where she was screaming with laughter, but even better, for me, was that twice she got teary-eyed - that's a trick road but I wanted the book to have an emotional undercurrent, which it does.  I obviously could not be happier.

When I got the package from Kritzerland, I opened it and found the script to "Welcome to My World."  I had to set it down for a moment to look at something for my work.  I needed to look closely at what I needed to look at, so I set my glasses down because I can't see that close with my glasses, and this is exactly where I set them:

Tuesday (late) afternoon greetings!  We were out of here at 7:40 this morning to be at Dayton's Schuster Center at 8:30 for "Bagels & Broadway."  We got to be in the theatre for about 90 minutes of the ONCE load-in and to hear a lot about the technical side of touring this show.  Richard and I visited the box office and bought 4 great seats for tomorrow evening's performance and we'll have a double date with Rob and Mary Linda.  We, of course, saw the show in New York a couple of years ago, but the kids have not seen it and we think they'll both like it.

From the theatre, we went to the building that's serving as the main Dayton Metro Library while the building where I worked is being remodeled.  Don't need to visit there again...

Stopped at Dorothy Lane Market, came home for lunch, and got busy doing this 'n' that and I realized I hadn't said HI today.

So not one person has gotten Welcome to My World yet???

I mentioned last week or the week before that I had received it from Amazon. But I have not had time to read it yet.

I'm not sure how much it cost DR SINGDAW....or how THEY cost, since there are two of them.....but we'll see when the spring tax bills come in.

I never paid too much attention to modern music when I was growing up. Why listen to that when you could listen to Cole Porter, right?

Still, I did like the Eagles. We still dance to "Take It to the Limit" during waltz classes because it works with both American and country-western waltz. So, Glenn Frey's work was a part of the fabric of my youth.

A friend down the street gave me The Eagles' Greatest Hits for Christmas one year. I listened to it with some regularity. The only song of theirs I did not like -- and it wasn't on the greatest hits album -- was Hotel Califfornia, which the radio stations played to death back in the day. It took me maybe 20 years before I could listen to that song with any sort of appreciation for it.

I'm watching Coco Before Chanel tonight. Audrey Tatou is wonderful. And the images are beautifully composed. But it's somewhat lifeless at times.

I just signed up for the Audible free trial which gave me 2 free books.  I have not chosen the 2nd book yet but my first download was th Martian which I thought would be good to listen to on our trip to Florida

So, early ASK BK question.  Have you mentioned if your new book is a Adriana Hofstetter novel. the next in the Red Gold series (assuming there is one) or.....???

It is not an Adriana Hofstetter mystery - it is not the sequel to Red Gold.
