TOD:

When I was growing up, I don't think I knew what a producer was.  I just went to the movies...every weekend.

Of course, there was that year or two in the late 1940s-early 1950s when there was a polio scare and my mother would not let me go at all.   :(

I will call Joshie in an hour.  I can't leave him in the lurch with this Monday rehearsal, so I'll see what he thinks of the situation.  There's no guarantee if we skipped today and went in tomorrow morning that we'd accomplish everything.

Good morning, all.

Forced hibernation day, so I might have slept in a little later.  But some furry creatures wanted to be fed and I wanted to settle into the recliner more in my fleece robe than I wanted to stay in bed.

As I awoke, I could hear the winds howling and I expected to look out the window and see a solid white covering.  What I found instead was just a thin dusting of snow!  But we are still only on the leading edge of the storm and these things move slowly.  By this afternoon we'll have several solid inches of the sh--  stuff.

If I thought of producers at all, it would have to have been Corman or Castle.  But I tended to be more aware of just the movies themselves.

I called Joshie.  He thinks we should postpone until tomorrow.

I did tell him that if he started feeling antsy and decided to go into City Center, to call me.  I'll come in.  This weekend means a lot of work for him with correcting scores, entering the fixes, and taping scores and parts for Monday.  HE doesn't need to go through all this nonsense, much of which could have been avoided, alone.

My first memory of a producer's name is Irwin Allen, who took all the publicity credit at the time for "The Animal World," a 1956 (?) film I loved because of the wonderful dinosaur sequence by Willis O'Brien and Ray Harryhausen (I think).

After that Castle for "The Tingler," "Macabre," and "House on Haunted Hill."

William Castle, Roger Corman, Cecil B. DeMille

and Alfred Hitchcock, although we also knew he was a director.....and he was so well known from his television show.

My adopted son Joshie sent me a message; he went into City Center to pick up the work and take it back to Astoria. He says it's treacherous out and he slipped on the subway stairs and fell down them. I told him to call me when he gets home or he'll get a lot of anxious messages from me.

I guess I really am a parent.

Last night Ricky was bound and determined to get back out into the garage.  Man oh man.  I close the mud room door because it isn't heated very well in there - SO, he scratched an scratched and scratched at the door.  I finally opened it and he ran to the garage door....no.   So I took him back inside, he was fine for about 20 min and then started scratching.  As I tried to go to bed....same thing.  I really don't want him to destroy that door, so I  trimmed his claws and took him upstairs, got him settled into bed and.....about 20 minutes later...scratch scratch scratch. Good grief. I was getting mad at this point, so  I took him and shut him in the room where he and Callie sleep at night.  He was fine for 20 minutes or so.  This continued until 3:45 AM!!!!!  I finally fell asleep and I could hear him scratching, but I let it go.

He's fascinated because he's never explored the garage. FoxNews said he as in Sioux City, he's not he's in Sioux Center.   Garrison Keillor made the same mistake about 8 years ago.  Sioux City has a rich history of gangsters, stockyards, explorers all sorts of fodder for Prairie Home Companion.  Sioux Center is full of very religious Calvinists and Dutch Reformed.   He came to Sioux City with Prairie Home Companion and his whole show was about the Calvinists. It was quite a disappointment Not sure who does his research, but they clearly messed up on that one

I also decided to skip Ben Carson.  I have had calls from Gov. Kasich, Rick Santorum and Jeb Bush for telephone town hall meetings (I don't do those). One for a poll (I don't do those either)  My mail today was two for Christie, one against Christie and Kasich but not for anyone, one that said vote for the Children whatever the heck that means.  One for Jeb and I think maybe one for Trump. The mail man was totally weighted down with this stuff. What a waste of money

DR TCB, I think Eve Harrington always wanted to take a long nap before she went onstage in Footprints on the Ceiling....especially when they were out of town in New Haven.

She won the Sarah Siddons Award for her performance in New York later that year.

Pie in the Sky Season 5 has picked up some gumption, although I really miss one character, played by Bella Enahoro, who was written out. Perhaps she didn't want to renew her contract.  So far, Season 5 is better than Season 4, which was getting poor.

DR Ginny, have you seen this series? Richard Griffiths at times reminds me of a hefty version of Richard.

I ran into the mail lady on my return from the laundry room. A Netflix disc of mine had been sitting in the outgoing mail since, I think, Thursday. I asked her if they deliberately skip us from time to time. She says no, but I'm not convinced. It happens about once every 3 weeks. It's unusual for me to have a day without mail, but when NO ONE in four apartments (6 tenants) gets any, I really have to wonder what's going on.

We went out to dinner tonight.  There is a restaurant near us with fantastic artichoke, spinach dip served with delicious flat bread and/or fresh seasoned chips.  The atmosphere and the drinks are very good.  My problem is the dinner menu.  Keith likes fish and chips and always orders that.  So far I haven't had the nerve to try the vegetarian version of paella since I'm not a fan of paella.  Next time I will because that only leave me with salmon to order.  I will eat fish out but prefer not to.

Haven't heard anything about that, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. The caucuses don't include 3rd parties so it wouldn't necessarily be the focus here right now

What I'm hearing from the people who support Trump is that none of the main stream politicians seem to be able to accomplish anything so it's time to try something different. People like that he speaks his mind no matter how politically incorrect it is.  It doesn't have anything to do with issues or positions, in fact a lot of his supporters don't necessarily agree on all his positions, but he's something different.  I know both Republicans and Democrats who feel this way.  Will they caucus for him?  Don't know.

Marco Rubio and Hillary Clinton got the endorsement of the DM Register.   Neither Cruz or Trump would talk to them because of their liberal bent, so Rubio really isn't a surprise. They endorsed Hillary in 2008 so it's no surprise there either.

We're about to be bombarded with the candidates last push to the caucuses. They'll be doing 4 and 5 events a day. Has to be totally mind numbing.   I  don't have a very full schedule this week so I'll try to see anyone who I haven't seen before and may go see a couple of them again, especially my top 3.

If you really decide to do it, it takes some planning.  If you wait until the last month, you'll likely see everyone.  We're notorious for not making up our minds until the last minute so that's when the big push happens.  You know, you could also do the same thing in New Hampshire. The distances to travel within the state would be a lot less than here. Of course you'd miss my sparkling company

The Dems have a town hall on tv, not sure if it's tomorrow night or a week from tomorrow and the Reps have their last debate before Iowa on the 28th, just in case anyone wants to watch.  Enough politics for now.  I am glad at least some of you enjoy reading this.  I'm trying not to get to into issues and just talk about what's happening.
