Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both power and Tower, and now it is time for you to post until the power cows come home.

Last night I started watching The Detective -- and boy, is that a trip.  This would be the 1968 Sinatra film, which I'd never seen.  I was getting really drowsy and didn't make it past the halfway point, so I'll be getting back to it tonight or tomorrow night.

Lots of weird dreams:
  1.  i was at a film (Disney's SLEEPING BEAUTY, I think, in a horrible print) with goddaughter Charlotte, who had a Little Golden Book og Beowulf and Grendel). No dead in that one!
  2.  My parents were driving me to an airport to fly to London.  We stopped at my Aunt Dorothy's to say goodbye and I realized I had not packed my passport. It was around 11:00AM and my flight was at 1:09PM.  We went to some large Victorian mansion, I went to my room, got the passport and then started repacking and making decisions about what to take,  My late friend Eugene Sher was there, sitting at a desk. Everyone in this dream except for me is dead.

3.  I was staying with friends in Los Angeles and had to drive to Jason Graae's house. I do not like driving in unknown geography and it was a disaster.
4.  My mother brought home a puppy with a flesh-eating disease.  Half of the right side of its head and ear were raw and decaying, We fought about her getting the dog to a vet.

Nice blog this morning, BK.

Brought back memories.

I used to "live" at Phil Harris Records and, to a lesser extent, at the Discount store at Wilshire/La Cienega.  In fact, for a time, a fellow student from the University of Washington Drama Department worked at the Wilshire/La Cienega store.  Did you know Gary Lamb?

It was actually a very easy trek to City Center.  The weather was quite cold, but my building's super and his snow blower had the sidewalk in excellent shape. The 104 bus ride went well, and it took me - with the little traffic as such - around 15 minutes to get there. I was willing to stay once I finished my proofreading but Joshie said he was in great shape and to get out. So I did.

The bus ride home wasn't bad, but the weather has warmed up and slush is deep and slippery. Still, I'm home in once piece and pondering dinner.

Here is the band (jazz quartet and gospel singer) for last night's performance. This is from a rehearsal; they were not dressed this way for the show.

The hall seats 2,000 - and there were less than 70 seats unsold!

I remember that a highlight of my first trip to New York was a trip to Tower Records. I couldn't believe the cast album section and wanted everything in sight that I didn't have. I bought a copies of Carmelina, Ankles Aweigh, Jule Styne's One Night Stand and the Utter Glory of Morrisey Hall on that trip. I don't remember what all else. But the bag was so heavy that it made handling my luggage a problem. But not enough of a problem to continue the practice on subsequent trips.

I felt so forlorn on my first trip to New York after Tower closed. The only place where I could find recordings was Barnes & Noble. It just wasn't the same. I don't think I bought anything.

Went and had a Chinese chicken salad and a bagel, then finished proofing the book.  I ran two changes past the Muse and she was fine with them.  One involved restructuring the order of paragraphs on one page to make things smoother and clearer (and I rewrote on line, too) and the other involved a small addition of a new sentence.  I'm really happy with this book - at this point I don't even remember writing it - it's just a book I'm reading now.  It made me laugh and as Muse Margaret said, it is ultimately touching, something I wasn't planning on at all.

Yesterday's TOD:

I think Walt Disney was the one producer as a kid that I knew by name. When I started getting more interested in movies, Samuel Goldwyn was a name that meant a lot. And of course, Arthur Freed for his musicals.

But the producer I was more interested in was record producer Goddard Lieberson.

I feel worse for you John.  Mine wasn't blinding and was home, not out dancing though that might have helped it.  I get mild migraines and am always grateful they are only mild.  I know when it is a migraine as I am also a tad nauseated.
