Well, you've read the notes, the notes were telephoned in, and now it is time for you to post until the telephoning cows come home.

This morning, I'll go back (again!!)for my lab work, which is ridiculous, then head down to City Center,  I will not be there long.  I'll come back here and work on my taxes.  My friends Peggy and Peter have invited me to dinner tonight, and I think that might be fun. I haven't seen them in several years,

Coffee in the recliner for a bit, and then I must shower and dress and start slaving over a hot keyboard.

TOD

Last night I watched THE MARTIAN from a USB flash drive that somebody had loaned a friend who in turn loaned it to me.  I don't know who the friend's friend was, or how long and winding the string of friends must be, but these are surely copies of screeners.  DVD quality and all, which is fine just to finally see the damned thing, but I will pick up the Blu-ray and "really" see it.  In 3-D, too.

Later today, ALL THINGS MUST PASS, the Tower Records thing.

CDs, don't know, except for ketchuping on the Victor Young Vol. 2.

DR Jane, you asked yesterday if you knew Richard had been an elementary principal.  Maybe not - he only had that job for 3 years and it was not his favorite.  It was one of his several administrative positions that convinced him to go back to classroom teaching.

Hello Everyone.....I just posted the latest edition of The Broadway Radio Show and it's a great conversation with Emma Hunton (Elphaba in the National Tour of Wicked) and Corbin Bleu (High School Musical, In The Heights, and Dancing With The Stars) about a new play called "The Dodgers" by Diana Amsterdam having it's World Premiere here in Hollywood this weekend.  No, it is not about the baseball team, instead it concerns a group of young men in 1969 facing the draft to go to Vietnam.  It's a fascinating subject and it was a blast chatting with Emma and Corbin.....give it a listen and if you're in the LA area, I encourage you to see the show at the Hudson Mainstage Theatre.

Back from watching the Tower Records documentary.  It's as good as BK described, and more -- just a wonderful look at an aspect of the culture that we - as a country, I guess - have so needlessly thrown out.

(I was stunned to learn that Tower/Japan is not only alive and well, but ... well, REALLY alive and well, and operating pretty much as the stores ever did.  They had been sold off at the beginning of the downturn for Tower.)

I did the right thing, watching this for my first time with no one around.  Man, I was rewinding and freeze-framing all over the damned place.  I do look forward to sharing it with friends who I know will appreciate it.

There was a rather interesting film on TCM last night -- "Ivy", directed by William Cameron Menzies and starring Joan Fontaine, Patric Knowles and Herbert Marshall.  The supporting cast was filled with recognizable faces and excellent performances.  Universal, 1947.  Music by Daniele Amfitheatrof.

Jane did you want me to make reservations for dinner?  Did you want to go back to your hotel first?

Would 4:30 be good, or would you prefer 5:00?

The show will be over at 3:30, give or take a couple of minutes.

Harbor Lights is about a third of a mile from your hotel.  A nice walk if the weather would cooperate.

Tonight at intermission, our director came back and asked me if I had gone to Mason Junior High.  I thought it was a strange question, but I said "yes."

Indeed we had gone thru elementary school and junior high together.  It had been over 50 years since we had seen each other!

The cast will be out in the lobby immediately after the show.  Jane, if you like, you can actually meet my sister and my niece.

Not all of the healthy cast members looked at their scripts during their time off.

That resulted in a few bloopers, but nothing serious.

In spite of the illness and the bloopers, the show was pretty good.

The audience was a little slow to warm up, but they were pretty with it by the time it was over.

We are watching the Shannara series.

I'm recording it and watching it when I have/make time.  I don't love it, but I'm enjoying it enough to keep watching.  Several of the actors are certainly nice to look at.
