Last night I watched THE MARTIAN from a USB flash drive that somebody had loaned a friend who in turn loaned it to me. I don't know who the friend's friend was, or how long and winding the string of friends must be, but these are surely copies of screeners. DVD quality and all, which is fine just to finally see the damned thing, but I will pick up the Blu-ray and "really" see it. In 3-D, too.

Later today, ALL THINGS MUST PASS, the Tower Records thing.

CDs, don't know, except for ketchuping on the Victor Young Vol. 2.

Maybe not - he only had that job for 3 years and it was not his favorite. It was one of his several administrative positions that convinced him to go back to classroom teaching.

No, it is not about the baseball team, instead it concerns a group of young men in 1969 facing the draft to go to Vietnam. It's a fascinating subject and it was a blast chatting with Emma and Corbin.....give it a listen and if you're in the LA area, I encourage you to see the show at the Hudson Mainstage Theatre.

Post by: ChasSmith on January 29, 2016, 12:03:28 PM: Back from watching the Tower Records documentary. It's as good as BK described, and more -- just a wonderful look at an aspect of the culture that we - as a country, I guess - have so needlessly thrown out.

(I was stunned to learn that Tower/Japan is not only alive and well, but ... well, REALLY alive and well, and operating pretty much as the stores ever did. They had been sold off at the beginning of the downturn for Tower.)

I did the right thing, watching this for my first time with no one around. Man, I was rewinding and freeze-framing all over the damned place. I do look forward to sharing it with friends who I know will appreciate it.

Even that which had been shown then, that I vaguely recognized, has an impact when you haven't seen it in years.
