Well, you've read the notes, the notes were nuts, and now it is time for you to post until the nutty cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ACUITY!
-
First post after BK!
-
The nuts are never missing at this site.
-
I must have tried Beer Nuts, but I have no memory of them. What kind of flavor do they have? Are they peanuts?
-
Good morning, 3 Guests. What are your names?
-
What kind of ice cream do you like?
-
Are you a dog person, a cat person, or a bird person?
-
All three guests quickly departed when I asked them questions!
-
Now that I had a nap, I am no longer tired.
-
Lucky I don't have to work tomorrow.
-
2:35 am and I still can't fall asleep!
-
Good morning, all!
I had a very restless night of sleep and many strange dreams. All I remember of them is that I was directing soprano Rebecca Caine in a production of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.
-
I have physical therapy at 10:00. i am looking forward to it and also a bit terrified of going. I'll leave for the bus around 9:00.
-
DR TCB, you gave her your phone number?
-
Careful walking vibes to Elmore!
-
Football is my least favorite sport and I find all this Superbowl hyperbole and enthusiasm ridiculous, so I watched two Inspector Lynley episodes and went to bed.
-
Good luck at the Robby Awards!!!
-
Good morning, all.
-
A fairly good sleep was had. Dreams are fading fast but were inconsequential.
-
DR TCB, you gave her your phone number?
Nice knowing you, TCB.
Oy! It's Play Misty for Me all over again.
-
I well remember buying Beer Nuts. You bought them because they were there, they sounded like they'd be good ... and they were. Now I'll have to see if they're in stores around here.
-
So, snow coming again. Well, we're in the depths of winter now. At least it's another weird one where other areas are getting it worse. This time it's the areas east of here. Boston, the Cape, Rhode Island. Let 'em have it!
-
BK's list pretty much took care of my Varese want list. I'm sure there are some things I'd like that I just haven't tried, but of the stuff that's been important to me, I'm now only missing a handful of titles.
-
So here starts a week of more snow dealings, a lot of musical work for upcoming stuff, and we're also dealing with a sick kitty for whom some lab work will be back later or tomorrow and whose days we will have to accept are pretty much numbered.
-
Good physical therapy vibes for DR Elmore, and vibes of all kinds to the rest of yez.
-
I'm sorry about your cat, DR ChasSmith.
-
~ ~ ~ P/T VIBES ~ ~ ~ for DR elmore3003!!!

~ ~ ~ CONTINUED ROBBY AWARDS VIBES ~ ~ ~ for bk & company!
-
Well, since we're so close...
-
PAGE TWO!
-
DR singdaw sez:
I have all of the bk titles that were commercially available. Does that mean I have good taste?
Can you proudly say you own all five of the beautiful Twilight Zone LPs as well? :)
-
good morning to all
-
TOD:
Cashews and macadamia nuts. Of course, those are the most expensive too. I really like all nuts except hazel nuts.
-
Good morning all:
My husband loves nuts. He eats them every night. I think he does eat Beer nuts that he gets at Wegmans. I'm not sure, I'll ask him .
-
Dollar Tree sells Beer Nuts, but the packages are small.
-
I liked walnuts and almonds.
-
MY QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return."
NATURE BOY, by Eden Ahbez
-
Thanks for all the welcome back greetings. It feels nice to have been missed.
Thanks also for your post regarding the book STORMCHASERS.
I think Jenna Blum is a terrific writer.
-
Good morning, all.
Happy Monday vibes.
And continued Robby vibes for BK and companies.
-
I love most any kind of nut, though I can only take one or two macadamias at a time. They're kinda oily to me.
-
Snows of Killamanjaro in my mailbox this morning.
-
Did anybody care for any of the commercials yesterday? I confess I found them largely uninspired and even creepy in a not good way.
-
DR TCB you are very kind to give your number to a crazy lady. :-*
-
Are you a dog person, a cat person, or a bird person?
Cat & Dog.
-
I enjoy bird watching.
-
Thanks for all the welcome back greetings. It feels nice to have been missed.
Thanks also for your post regarding the book STORMCHASERS.
I think Jenna Blum is a terrific writer.
I have now added STORMCHASERS to my list of books to read. The eBook library doesn't have it so it might be awhile before I actually get the book.
-
Monday afternoon greetings! Yesterday was a Lima day and my friend Becky dropped in right after we got home. We visited for a while and when she left it was time to start watching the Super Bowl. I went to bed as soon as it was over.
-
I had decided yesterday that I needed to see the doctor about the cough and fatigue I've had for about 6 weeks and was lucky enough to get an appointment at 9:30 this morning. He put me on an inhaler, ordered a bunch of blood tests, and sent me for a chest x-ray. Waiting for results, hoping I don't have pneumonia.
Although, they DO know how to cure that...
-

We felt the same way, DR John G, and I was disappointed in the outcome of the football game. I thought Lady Gaga did fine with with National Anthem, but the halftime show didn't do much for me.
-
Beer Nuts (http://www.beernuts.comb)
are made in Bloomington, Illinois, which is where my niece Laura lives. There's a nice company store in the mall and she always brings a goodly supply of their products when she comes to visit. At Thanksgiving, she brought a bag of peanuts, a bag of cashews, and a bag of almonds for both the upstairs Palmers and the downstairs Palmers. Downstairs, we've eaten the cashews and peanuts and still have the almonds.
It looks like you can order online with free shipping.

It was a happy reunion at Brick-Run Physical Therapy this morning. Lisa, Louis, Gurjeet, and Morgan all seemed as happy to see me as I was to see them. Gurjeet had me run through some exercises and thinks my leg problems might be related to arthritis in my hip, rather thatn the previous spinal disk problems. Do, I just emailed my doctor for an X-ray referral.
-
DR Elmore, it's pretty clear that my Mother's leg pain originates in the hip she fell on - twice - without having it treated. By the time it became crippling, she was too old for the replacement surgery that could have alleviated the pain. Good for your PTs for suggesting this now and good for you for following up!
-
I've held off on mentioning this, but just got confirmation that all of this is correct - the plant has found that they have additional copies in the stuff that we store there of some long OOP titles, so I offer them here first, but only for a little while - limited numbers on each, so if you're missing any of these, grab 'em while you can. These all have to be normal price of 19.98. PM me if you need.
A Place in the Sun
Bananas
Billion Dollar Brain
Casino Royale
God’s Little Acre
Love With the Proper Stranger
Sugar
The Apartment
Thelma and Louise
-
I really enjoyed the Super Bowl half time show.
I am a big fan of Cold Play, also think Bruno Mars is a terrific performer.

Oh dear God - my wonderful Teddy, who has been doing my hair since 1971 - that is close to 47 YEARS, died yesterday. I can't even. I was going to come in this week.
-
I called to confirm my upcoming appointment with me new Endocrinologist. It turns out I was given the appointment with a different doctor. He was not the one I had requested, in fact I didn't even realize there was another doctor in the practice. The woman who made the appointment was very nice about the mistake and moved a couple of different appointments to fit me in before my medications run out.
Two problems with the new appointment, the first being that I have to cancel a get together with a high school friend that was planned awhile back, and that we have been trying to do since we moved here.
-
Oh Bruce, I am so very sorry for you. I know you are hurting from this loss, and still in shock. :(
-
Leg, hip, and pain vibes for DR elmore!!!
-
VIBES OF COMFORT FOR BRUCE!
-
OH MY GOD. Teddy??
This year so far has been horrible with some really surprising deaths. Very sorry to hear this, BK.

That's horrible news.
-
So sorry to hear about Teddy, BK. That news puts my aggravations today right into their proper perspective.
-
Well, I don't have pneumonia, so that's something...
-
Just caught up with the latest Downton Abbey. They seem hellbent on getting everyone married off.
-
Well, I don't have pneumonia, so that's something...
I was just about to ask if you know yet. This is good news. Is the cough loose or tight?
-
Just to put a capper on this Monday (is it not over yet?), a beloved kitty is in stage four kidney failure. She first developed kidney disease over two years ago, and this is the final stage. (We've managed it beautifully since then with fluids.) Not only that, she now has cancer, which showed up via a swollen lymph node, and it's probably in her kidneys as well. Not only that, but she also has feline AIDS which (of course) she tested negative for when adopted several years ago. Apparently it can be passed from the mother and lay hidden. Just for comic relief, we'll have the urinalysis results tomorrow. She's very subdued, but is contented and eating and is not yet down for the count. But that count will come fairly soon.
-
If the Robbys are with me at all tonight, if I were to win I will be dedicating the award to Teddy.
-
I am so sorry Bk to hear about your dear friend Teddy. May God bless him always, and i will pray for him!!!
-
Back from Costco and an omelet and a bagel. As most of you know, I am rarely affected by deaths because I am a pragmatist, but Teddy was like family in a similar way that Susan Gordon was when she passed, or Laurie Beechman or Michelle Nicastro.
-
I'm so sorry about the news of your kitty ChasSmith!!!
-
Understood, re someone being like family.
And good idea, re the Robbys.
-
My prayers to DRS Elmore and Ginny to feel better soon!!

ChasSmith, my best vibes for kitty and for you.

I like all nuts except I'm not a huge fan of walnuts.

And I'm not a fan of nuts in cookies at ALL
-
Good morning, all!
I had a very restless night of sleep and many strange dreams. All I remember of them is that I was directing soprano Rebecca Caine in a production of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.
She's on the Canadian cast recording of "The Phantom of the Opera (http://castalbums.org/recordings/The-Phantom-Of-The-Opera-1989-Canadian-Cast/2071)." I like that recording.
-
I love most any kind of nut, though I can only take one or two macadamias at a time. They're kinda oily to me.
Not when covered in chocolate.
;)
-
DR ChasSmith, ther news about your cat is also distressing. I am so sorry.
BK, I think dedicating the award to Teddy is really lovely.

That sounds like a great idea, BK.
-
Well, for nine years I've been deliberating about writing a choral piece, Appalachian Requiem, for my father. It would be 4-5 folksongs/hymns from the Appalachian Mountains dealing with death, with hopefuly at least one funny song, and accompanied by fiddle and guitar. I just received a call about a commission for a choral piece, so I guess I'm going to actually write it and stop putting it off.

DR ELMORE that is wonderful news!!!
-
ROBBY AWARD vibes for MR BK.
-
DR CHAS SMITH I am so sad to read about your kitty. I think everyone here at HHW will hug his/her pet a bit closer tonight.
-

Can only do if we actually win something tonight.

It was an unexpected call from completely out of the blue. My thoughts on theology are pretty agnostic, but I do believe in something; I've had too many run-ins with guardian/protective spirits at times of crisis not to believe something's watching out for me. Maybe it's those three pennies that DR JRand65 had me put in my window.
I'm thinking about a soloist and a layout something like this:
1. Lonesome Valley
2. Murder ballad
3. Something funny?
4. Mourning/Missing someone
5. Amazing Grace
I’ll use this as a roadmap while I do some digging around. God knows what I'll find.
-

I have faith that you will. Otherwise, be a gloriously poor loser.
-
In 1975 or so, I accompanied a friend from college and community theatre in the Miss Southwest Ohio pageant. She was actually quite good, but she didn't win anything. When they announced the winners, her mother got out of her seat and walked up the aisle and out of the theatre, saying quite loudly "Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck . . ."
For the life of me, I cannot remember what she sang. I do remember that my friend Dick Newman played the drums.
-
I shall now be on my way to the El Portal to oversee the set up for the Robby Awards, and then - it's the Robby Awards. I'll have a full report for you when I get home. :)

Did anybody care for any of the commercials yesterday? I confess I found them largely uninspired and even creepy in a not good way.
I found a lot of them really creepy. There were dogs dressed as hotdogs attacking and licking people dressed as ketchup. There were puppy monkey babies. There were singing sheep. And those were the memorable ones. Really a lot of what were they thinking moments.
-
I'm so sorry to hear about Teddy, BK.

This is a sweet thought if you win or not. You have talked about Teddy so often over the years it was a sad shock to read your news.
-
Back from Costco and an omelet and a bagel. As most of you know, I am rarely affected by deaths because I am a pragmatist, but Teddy was like family in a similar way that Susan Gordon was when she passed, or Laurie Beechman or Michelle Nicastro.
Yes, and why I have been thinking of you all afternoon. :(

Neither am I, except toasted almonds in biscotti or mandel breit.
-
I love most any kind of nut, though I can only take one or two macadamias at a time. They're kinda oily to me.

;)
Or covered in rich toffee, drenched in luscious milk chocolate, finished with a sweet dusting of powdered sugar.
I like them plain too.

I'm glad we didn't take this cruise. Scroll down and watch the video in the story. They don't say what deck their room was.

Yikes!! :o
-
If anyone's interested, Get TV is showing "Dick van Dyke and the Other Woman" (Mary Tyler Moore) at 9 pm EST and again at midnight.
-
Scary video!
The voices sounded like they were ok. I would have been sick.
-
I kind of laughed at the people who complained about being locked in their rooms. I certainly would not want to be walking around the ship in that.
-

Yikes!! :o
Our Alaskan cruise, the one we met you and Tom on our way home from Seattle, had hurricane like winds on the last night. There was someone stationed at each exit to outside to prevent anyone from going out there. I don't know how high the waves were because it was night. I'm sure they weren't this bad since I never saw anything fall.
-
FIVE!!
-
Well, I just got a text from a friend of mine, asking if I wanted to hang out or maybe get some dinner, so I'm off to hang out or get some dinner.
Be back later. :)
-
Have fun.
-
From yesterday's discussion.
I definitely use the term "sleeping in" to mean sleeping late. It is very commonly used here.
-
Same as DR Matthew on the nuts. Walnuts are the one weird one for me, but at least now I can eat them as opposed to when I was a kid. I can actually appreciate a Waldorf Salad type of thing now, and I do enjoy a chicken salad with apples, cranberries and walnuts I buy at Shop Rite.
And cookies? Leave your frickin nuts out of my cookies, please. Their taste and texture are an utter distraction from what a cookie is supposed to be. This goes for brownies, too. Especially brownies. And cakes or whatever.
Okay, a couple of exceptions to that. Some pieces of peanuts in good peanut butter cookies? Sure, why not. And I do like me some macadamias, inside or outside of cookies. But something like oatmeal raisin cookies that have walnuts in them, however ground up they may be?
No. Thank. You.
-
And I don't want a brownie without some sort of nut in it. Otherwise the texture is too monotonous and occasionally gummy.
-
More vibes for BK tonight. Hope the Robby awards are going well.
-
Watching Zabriskie Point. The visual are great. The stories about the police are timely. But the whole thing feels like a really long bad trip back to the 1960s, right down to Rod Taylor.

Appalachian Requiem is a powerful idea, DR Elmore.

I was on a cruise ship heading to the Bahamas when we brushed a hurricane. It knocked over tables and chairs, blew out portholes, and made half the people onboard (passengers and crew) seasick. It didn't phase me. Of course, I was drunk at the time.

No, they didn't, but everyone was so seasick, that most of them stayed in their cabins. I went to the casino, a bar, and finally the movie theater onboard, where I watched my first and last Steven Seagal movie.
-
Sorry to hear about kitty.
-
Back from the Robbys. Show was MUCH smoother than last year - I was there to oversee everything and talk to everyone, which was helpful. For me, and exact replay of last year - one win for something I was involved in but no wins for anything else especially the stuff I was personally up for. It went pretty much as expected. The win was for the cast of Inside Out for best ensemble of a musical.
-
Have fun.
Thanks, Jane, I did.
-
Well, I just got a text from a friend of mine, asking if I wanted to hang out or maybe get some dinner, so I'm off to hang out or get some dinner.
Be back later. :)
My friend and I had dinner AND hung out together, so it was fun.
-
I'm now home and watching the pilot episode to "Colony." I haven't heard anything about this show, so I hope it's good.
-
And when I got home, "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" soundtrack was waiting for me in my mailbox! I'll listen to it at work tomorrow.

That's too bad about you not winning, but congrats to the cast of Inside Out, at least!

The Facebook messages and e-mails keep pouring in from people who saw SECOND SAMUEL at TLT. It is really unprecedented.
-
Everyone seems to feel the need to tell us how moved they were by the show, or how delighted by the production.
-
I think I will go down to the waterfront tomorrow. It is supposed to get up to 63 degrees.
-
I should be writing the notes, but I know that will not be easy so I'm procrastinating.

I should be writing the notes, but I know that will not be easy so I'm procrastinating.
Take all the time you need.
-
I am trying to think of a subject to post about, but my brain is empty tonight.
-
I'm watching "Suits" from January. I didn't realize that it was back on.
-
I had the series set to record, but the setting must've been on my old DVR that crapped out a few months ago.
