Well, you've read the notes, the notes were long (not really), and now it is time for you to post until the long cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AUTODIDACT!
-
First post after BK!
-
Good morning. Am I really the first post after TCB?
-
Good morning, all!
I slept quite well last night. I'm rather surprised by it.
-
I had one rather vivid dream, but it's already fading from my mind. I also had a dream about Anna Karenina and Vronski, who were trying to settle in Manhattan. Or was it LA?
-
This morning, I will go back to City Center and deal with whatever score Joshie has left for me. He may not be there since he is involved with this gala concert of The Secret Garden. I'll work on whatever he's left for me, then leave.
-
Createspace has really been excellent, resourceful and cooperative, but there were problems getting my last book to look decent on Kindle, possibly because they were mainly lyrics.
-
DR vixmom, the dates for 1776 are the firat week of April:
http://www.nycitycenter.org/tickets/productionNew.aspx?performanceNumber=8894#.VsWzGZv5Neo
-
On my way to City Center, I will stop at my pharmacy and pick up the month's meds.
-
Yesterday, my sister-in-law Jo sent me the property tax bill. However, she did not tell me how much I owe, so I'm waiting for her to confirm I owe the State of Ohio $600+.
Chelsea Music managed to get a copy of my W-2 from the Duck Dynasty production company, and the top of the W-2 says Employer Reference Copy - Do Not File. I emailed the W-2 to my accountant and now I'm waiting for word on whether this copy will suffice or not.
I hate being on hold!
-
More coffee!
-
TOD:
I don't own a Kindle. I just sell books on that format, as well as in paperback.
Thus far, after several years of doing it, I've had no complaints, so I assume everything is okay.
If you publish through CreateSpace, which I do with my plays, they will handle the Kindle version for you. Or, you can do it yourself, as I do. It's really a very simple process.
Usually, in any given month, I sell more books on Kindle than in Paperback.
Times are certainly changing. Personally, I like to hold a physical book in my hands.
-
What a week-- but at least it's Thursday already.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I've now read several books on Kindle (the iPad app, not an actual Kindle) and enjoyed it all just fine. I occasionally get thrown momentarily, when flipping back and forth for a few pages, to find the layout of paragraphs or illustrations changing position, but I think that's just the nature of the beast. And I'm the odd man out here, because I'm usually very comfortable with Times New Roman.
Re BK's books: I read WELCOME TO MY WORLD on it before BK was shipping the hard copies, and it was fine. Two pages were wonky -- the acknowledgments and the list of musical numbers. I don't recall anything else. I also have RED GOLD -- which was actually my first Kindle book -- and even though I read the real book, I did flip through the Kindle version and don't recall anything unusual or amiss.
Otherwise, I've read THE MARTIAN, ASTRONAUTS WIVES CLUB, HELLRAISERS, and I'm in the middle of a large book by a music director, none of which have presented any problems or distractions.
-
I do not have a Kindle machine - although I have Kindle for PC....and have seen a book or two there.
-
Thursday morning greetings! My prescriptions are finally ready, so I'll be off to Kroger soon. Had to make do last night with Kahlua therapy for my cough, which worked OK until about 5am. After that I had to
sleep doze sitting up until about 7.
-
Good Morning all:
My prayers to all DR"S who are ailing!!!
TOD:
I Actually have a Kindle that a good friend of mine gave me. I have yet to use it. I am a REAL BOOK LOVER. I prefer to hold a book in my hands and feel the pages. I often make notes and underline prose that i particularity like.
-
MY ENTERTAINER QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"When I sing, people shut up."
ANY GUESSES DRS???
-
From DR TCB:
I hope you get a good night of sleep.
Thank you. I woke up at 11:30, read for a bit then slept until 4:45.
-
Good morning, all!
I slept quite well last night. I'm rather surprised by it.
LOL That is how I feel when I sleep well.
-
AUTODIDACT:
A self-taught person!!!
Thanks BK for the word of the day. As I said before, I love to look up new words and learn!!!
-
Yesterday, my sister-in-law Jo sent me the property tax bill. However, she did not tell me how much I owe, so I'm waiting for her to confirm I owe the State of Ohio $600+.
I'm guessing that is 1/3 of the statement she sent you.

That sure took long enough.
-
I have a Kindle App for my Nook but I don't like using it. In fact it has been so long since I used it I would have to figure it out again.

So do I DR Kate. If it wasn't due to severe pain I never would have begun using my Nook.
-
I just treated myself to hot chocolate. It felt good inside my mouth.

That's what I thought, DR Jane. These were sent electronically from the doctor's office to the pharmacy, which I don't totally trust. Just glad it's not life or death medication...
-
I think it is always best to call and check on the status before stopping to pick them up. It saves a wasted stop and makes sure they have the order in their queue.
-
I need to get ready to do a few morning errands which need to be done by 9:00.
-

Yes, I called this morning. I was afraid someone at the doctor's office had forgotten to press SEND after entering the prescriptions into their computer. That's happened before - but not this time.
-
Good Morning!
-
Posting before noon... go know
-
But I have nothing much to say.
-
Other than I don't read as much as I'd like.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
I had a Nook but got rid of it. I just didn't enjoy using it.
But now I have Nook and Kindle on my phone. I don't know typefaces all that well, but I prefer a serif to a sans serif when I'm reading a book, electronic or physical.
-
Christiane Noll is going to be singing with the symphony next weekend, and I'll have to miss it as I'm out of town. Bummer.

I usually call on the way home from the doctor to see when if it will be ready to stop and pick it up.

I can understand why. I like the ability to change the print size. So many paper books today have small, light print which is difficult to see.

50 MPH wind gusts predicted for my area tomorrow....and temps in the 60's! I'll take it.

ANY GUESSES DRS???
Ethel Merman? It's just a guess. I didn't look it up.

I'm up, I'm up - I guess I almost got eight hours of sleep.

CreateSpace is not Kindle and vice versa. All you do when you use create space is what you'd do if you didn't use CreateSpace - upload that document to Kindle. That's how it works. I did Welcome to My World via CreateSpace and it's perfect - what I previewed on Kindle was not and it was the CreateSpace document. Word and Kindle are not happy bed partners. I read up on it last night. If, for example, you tab over for your paragraph indentations, which everyone on the planet does, it doesn't like that, hence the paragraph indentations are wonky, at least in the preview version. You're supposed to set up the tab over before you write so it's done without using the tab button, but I couldn't figure out how to do that, frankly.
Also, I'm told that every Kindle device and every eReader is different and will display differently depending on the person's settings and preferences. So, while it may look wonky in preview it may not on an actual Kindle. Then I read an article by someone who's "mastered" the art of Kindle, but her books look NOTHING like books and I don't like that. But that's what Kindle is - it's a text flow and you can't think in conventional book design terms. The ideal Kindle presentation is just text - no fonts, no centering chapter headings - it's nutty to me and not a world I care to be in. I will continue trying to figure out how to set the paragraph tab so I don't have to tab and then I'll see if that helps - because everything else is fine on the preview Kindle. I've done a save as so I won't hurt what's there now and can go right back to it.

Ethel Merman? It's just a guess. I didn't look it up.
Mine would be, "When I sing, people flee in terror."
-
Regarding Quote of the day:
DR George, Good guess, but it is not correct.
Try again and thanks for playing!!!
Thanks also John G for your funny comment!!!
-
Heres a hint regarding my quote of the day:
This person has many other talents!!!

When I sing people tell me to shut up.

Hime from City Center. No check, no referral.
I called my HMO and was told the referral had never been sent. The nice young lady told me she would fax it to West Side Radiology. She did and I will go in tomorrow morning for my hip X-ray. So, why the fat hell did the moron in the referrals dept. on Tuesday give me a lot of inaccurate crap?
-
I don't know about the Kindle, however, the last eBook I read from my library did not have any chapters. Sometimes the books can be a bit screwy.
-
My sister-i-law Jo loves her Kindle so I got one for Christmas several years ago. I hate it. Give me a book, a bound book with pages, preferably with a sewn binding.
-
I don't know about the Kindle, however, the last eBook I read from my library did not have any chapters. Sometimes the books can be a bit screwy.
Weird! I've never had any book like that. I have a Kindle Keyboard (originally called the Kindle, 3rd Generation), and I read a lot of books on it. I still buy a few physical books (like BK's), but the Kindle is more convenient because I usually read when I eat, so I don't have to use one hand to hold the book open (especially if it's a small paperback that CAN'T stay open on its own) and try to eat with a knife and fork with one hand...that doesn't work, at all.
-
I'm not too picky about what font is used, but I don't like the font to be too big or too small. A co-worker of mine has a program to convert other kinds of e-books to epub (I think) and makes EVERYTHING she reads on her tablet match the way she wants them. Even if they're perfectly normal, if the book font isn't to her liking, she can change them. That's a bit too anal-retentive, even for me.
;)

It is much easier to use the treadmill with an eBook.

I rarely take the time to change the font. I'm more likely to make it larger, especially when I am on the treadmill.

As I believe I said: I've sold MANY books on Kindle, mostly stage and screenplays, and I've never had one complaint.
(Knock wood!)
I just convert my Word document to the htm format and upload.

Do you want to have to cut your own pages, too?

This is a Thursday that feels like a Monday.

I have been very good today. My Girl Scout cookie order came in and I haven't opened a single box. That's three boxes of Thin Mints.
-
Three!

I thought things were supposed to get less frustrating the older I got!
I sent the pdf of the DuckDynasty W-2 to my accountant yesterday, No word. So today I sent an email asking if it was okay. His reply: what W-2? So, I sent it again and there's been no word from him.
A week ago, I paid for an order with Paypal, and i have the Paypal invoice. Today I sent the vendor an inquiry: what's going on? No response.
I finally heard about the check; ut hasn't been sent yet.
What the fat hell?

I am completely devastated. My "godson" Sam Jones, whose father Tom wrote "the Fantasticks," just contacted me to tell me that his mother Janet has died. I knew she had been in terrible health, and it's been four years since I last saw her. I so loved Janet. She was a wonderful friend.
when I was semi-paralyzed and had neck surgery in December 1999, she lied to the hospital staff and told them she was my sister. When I woke up in recovery, there she was. Oooih, you look so good," she said. RIP, Sis!
-
DR elmore I am very sorry for the loss of your dear, kind friend.
-
Janet was the mother of Sam and Mike, my unofficial godsons, wife of Tom Jones, and sister of the wonderful Broadway soprano Susan Watson. She worked a lot as a choreographer and she was always upbeat and positive. Her illness was really horrifying and she suffered with it for maybe six years. I'm glad she's at peace.
Sam just notified me and invited me to a memoria;l for March 1. I'll be there.
-
Janet was in terrible health for the last couple of years - it's probably a blessing for all.
-
Finished the liner notes for our next release, a cast album that's never been on CD - heard the master today, which sounds great. So, hopefully I can send in the packaging for approval on Monday and get this announced.
-
It is sad when people have to suffer like that, especially when they are good people.
-
Larry, my condolences to you and her family. :(
-
Well, I'm not feeling too well (not horrible at all, just a little wonky), so I'm going to go home, take a little nap, and hope that I feel better for tonight's show. I'm sure I'll be fine, but I just don't want to struggle with it here at work.
Until later.

Feel better George!

Elmore wil you be going to a performance ?
I'll be backstage at some of them.
-
When The Vixter and former DR WFO and. I went to see The Fantastiks Tom zones was performing the part of the Old Actor. During intermission we ran into Elmore in the lobby neither of us realized we would be so the same performance . After the show he kindly introduced us to Mr. Jones who took some time to chat with the then still little Vixter

And since I know you have all been waiting anxiously for news of my Showboat cd delivery...
-
It was delivered today and in like new condition. Not only was the booklet included it appears to have never been opened.
-
I am looking forward to finding some time to sit and listen to it properly while reading the booklet
-
Made a tentative show order. Still looking for our guest star - if anyone knows Leslie Uggams, she'd be perfect.
-
I did immediately check to look for and rejoice over the credit to Larry Moore

Oh sure, I have her on speed dial. ;)
-
I had a turkey sandwich with no fries or onion rings for lunch, picked up a bunch of mail (hadn't been there is over five days), including my three-pack of Beer Nuts nutmeats - peanuts, cashews, and almonds. I'm having a little potpourri of them now. I'll relax for a bit, then start writing the commentary.

Look on the other side of the CD box!

I worked with her around 2009 at the Chicago Humanities Festival, but I have no contact info. She was delightful, but I understand her singing's very pitchy these days.

Yep I found it there and on the booklet!

I think it was said by a young Ms. Streisand.

Just saw the first cut of the book trailer for Patrick Bronstein Presents. It kind of made me laugh out loud. There's one photo I want changed, and I made one suggestion, but it's pretty terrific - and funny.

Finished the liner notes for our next release, a cast album that's never been on CD - heard the master today, which sounds great. So, hopefully I can send in the packaging for approval on Monday and get this announced.
Did anybody guess it the other day?

Hugs and vibes for Elmore.
-
Starting "From the Terrace" tonight. Have never seen it.
-
Love the cast, even if it's a tad to soap opera-ish.
-
A very young Barbara Eden is quite luscious.
And the Elmer Bernstein score is great.
-
Thanks, BK, for reminding me that i had a copy but just hadn't watched it.
-
Hello, 5 guests.
-
I don't think anyone has guessed the title yet. For some reason no one ever talks about this show and it was a Tony-nominated hit.
-
I'm tired.
-
Tired I'm.
-
We had some good Indiegogo action today - we're 58% funded now and over $7,000. $5,500 to go with twenty-one days left. Hoping we can not only get there, but beyond there. Must add a couple more perks since there's only one Richard Sherman signed musical quote left - those have been the most popular with the populace.
-
Thank you for the reminiscence, DR Elmore. Very sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend.
-
I'll be at "1776" on - I believe - the opening night which is Wednesday, whatever the date is.
-
I did immediately check to look for and rejoice over the credit to Larry Moore

Oy. Tell me about it.

I so love it when that happens! I've lucked out like that a few times, getting something in incredible condition for a song, as it flies right under everyone else's radar.

MY ENTERTAINER QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"When I sing, people shut up."
ANY GUESSES DRS???
I am pretty sure that Kevin knows the answer.
-
Poor Nicky, tonight has not been his night.
-
I did some eBook research - tried to upload an html version but it was still screwy. So, Amazon had several companies they said help convert these files exactly as Kindle wants them, whatever their latest best file type is (I think it's called Mobi). So, I e-mailed one of the companies and they got right back to me - I sent them a PDF of the designed book and the Word doc I did that I tried to upload. He says he can absolutely work with those files and the cost is sixty bucks. Needless to say, I told him to do it. It will be done within a week and it will look just as it should on Kindle and other eReaders.
-
First, I thought he had gone to bed, so I closed the slider out to the balcony and started getting ready for bed.
-
Fortunately, I heard this mournful cry before I went off to the bedroom.
-
He was not pleased when I let him back in the door.
-
Ten minutes later, I thought he was using the litter box, and I stepped right on his tail with both feet.
-
I tried to explain that she should be glad that I didn't fall on top of him and crush him.
-
He didn't think that was a blessing.
-
I gave him a ride in the wheelchair into the bedroom.
-
He climbed up on the bed and quickly fell asleep for the next three hours.
-
Poor baby!
-
The rain has returned to the Northwet.
-
They are saying that it may be dry on Saturday, but I will believe it when I see it.
-
The Go Fund Me page for Kayne West has already raised $4,000.00!! Are they serious?
-
Is tomorrow really Friday?
-
This week has really been screwed up.
-
Actually, I suppose it is my brain that is screwed up, not the week.
-
At least when I was doing the show, I always knew when it was the weekend.
-
I need to change to the iPad, but I need to finish this page first.
-
That shouldn't be too difficult.
-
One more post.

Been working on a new song - as I was assembling what we have so far I realized I had to do something about the LA kiddie show hosts of the 1950s and 60s - after all, I did an entire documentary on three guys called Weekday Heroes for KABC so that's what I'm calling the song. I got the music right away and have one complete verse and chorus done.

Hope someone stays up until the notes are posted. Book trailer will be there.
I'm home!

I took a nap at home after work and felt much better for the show, which went well.

Not a huge audience tonight, but they seemed to enjoy it.

Well, I'm not feeling too well (not horrible at all, just a little wonky), so I'm going to go home, take a little nap, and hope that I feel better for tonight's show. I'm sure I'll be fine, but I just don't want to struggle with it here at work.
Until later.
Take your vitamin-C and zinc!
Thanks for the info, Larry. My nap did help.

That's so cool!
