Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a book trailer, and now it is time for you to post until the bookish cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ASTROLABE!
-
BK, I LOVED the "Patrick Bronstein Presents" trailer!
-
That is great! I love it!!
-
I'm glad you are feeling better, George.
-
I'm glad you are feeling better, George.
Thanks, Tom!
-
Well, I'm off to bed. Good night, Tom!
-
Good morning to all.
-
BK
The trailer was great fun!
Are you able to divulge what movies were used in the creation of the trailer?
-
I have never seen a book trailer before but yours was really fun!
-
Good morning, all! Hard to believe it's Friday. That Monday off has put me off balance.
-
I had dreams, and I remember none of them.
-
I will leave here around 9:00, go to West Side Radiology for my hip X-ray and then head to City Center. Yesterdsay, I proofread "Piddle Twiddle," and I really do not know what Joshie has for me today.
-
Great trailer!!
-
This weekend, I hope to finish up Act One of the Moross Gentlemen, Be Seated! and send notes to copyist Scott. Once I know that the W-2 I sent my accountant is good, I can put my tax receipts and notes away and clean up this apartment.
-
The book trailer is really a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to this book.
-
DR Vixmom, about 1776, I will most likely be at the Saturday matinee performance, watching backstage and then listening to the talk back.
-
Great trailer, BK.
-
TOD:
No idea. Maybe something will arrive in the mail today.
-
I have never seen a book trailer before but yours was really fun!

Saying goodbye to the Vixter she is off to Florida for three weeks

Yesterday, I uploaded the latest play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS series to the U.S. Copyright office.
It's a 3-character piece about 2 famous stars, centered around the making of a 1950s "B" movie.
I'm delaying actually publishing the piece until I hear from the licensing department of the studio that owns the movie. I'm hoping that they will allow me to use a poster from the old movie on the cover of my book.
My next play is also centered around the making of a 1950s movie, owned by the same studio, so I'm hoping that they will let me use a poster for my cover of that book also.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The trailer is perfect. Just perfect.
-
And I look forward to hearing what the cast CD is, damn it.
-
Damn it all to hell.
-
I love the book trailer. The only thing I missed were the phrases "stripped bare" and "naked" which were usually used.....of course it was "Emotions stripped bare" and "Naked fury" - but they used the words!!!!
-
Vibes for Nicky!
-
Hmmm.....I have no guesses on the CD release.....
-
Tonight, the opening of SPELLING BEE.
Today is also a sad one, because at 5 p.m. we will be saying goodbye to a beloved pet. Our little Kali is at the end of her rope. She has been a blessing on this house, a beautiful presence to the end.
-
Oh no! Vibes and thoughts to you DR CHAS SMITH....
-
Good morning, all.

Vibes for ChasSmith.

I'm up, I'm up - barely. I'd be surprised if I had three hours of sleep. As soon as the helper has come and gone, I'm going back to bed.

Good Morning!

TOD - Jerry Herman playlist on the iPod

And that's all I have to say about THAT

As an avid reader I find it shocking when people say that they won't read e-books.
Yes, I like physical books. Yes, I thought that I would not like using a kindle.
But OMG my kindle is my most prized possession. I cannot imagine living without one. It is the best invention of the last decade. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
If you think you hate it, TRY IT. Now I prefer it to hardcovers. It is so much easier. The print is almost always the perfect size. IT is so convenient. You have all your books together. It is so easy. I love my kindle so much.
I would say that most of the e-books I read are the perfect size/type and font without adjusting anything. There are a few books that I have read where they have used a really bad font and that makes the type smaller. And you can't adjust it because the next size up will make it huge. So i really dislike this. But other than that I have never read an e-book where the paragraphs look weird or anything like that.

Vibes of comfort to dear DR Chas.

Tonight, the opening of SPELLING BEE.
Today is also a sad one, because at 5 p.m. we will be saying goodbye to a beloved pet. Our little Kali is at the end of her rope. She has been a blessing on this house, a beautiful presence to the end.
:'(

And I am home from X-ray and City Center, The long-awaited Duck Commander W-2 finally arrived in today's post.
-
DR Chas, my heart goes out to you as you say goodbye to your beautiful Kali.
-
Vibes for Jane.
Thank you. I think it will be awhile before I can spend too much time on the computer. At least it isn't too painful.
-
DR Jennifer while I agree with you regarding reading an eBook, doing so does not give me the same emotional connection as holding a book in my hands. The more special the book, the stronger the emotional connection.

Shoulder vibes for DR JANE.
Thank you. I really can't figure out what triggered this which is annoying since I won't know how to avoid triggering the problem again. Granted it is my bad shoulder, still I normally know why it is worse than usual.

Back from a cup of soup and a sandwich. I'll be on my way to LACC in about an hour.
-
Everyone's trying to guess the CD title and yet no one has and they've listed about fifty things. It's funny how this show or LP is not on anyone's radar, and yet the show ran on B'way over a year, was a moderate success, had a cast album, and was nominated for several Tony Awards. And not a single person seems to remember it. It's odd to me.
-
I wish it were "From Berlin to Broadway", but it received no Tony nominations, so...
-
What are the clews, if any?

Damn.

Thanks for the link. Reading it I am reminding why, when last night I notice Go Set a Watchman was available, I thought how surprised I was she was still alive.
This article is also a reminder why I will not read the book.

I've been through a tense 90 minutes. My CD download got stuck on the last track ad would not complete, so I ended up shutting down the computer to elect the CD. After that, the computer would not restart. After 4-6 attempts to open it, I called AppleCare and spoke to a wonderful technician named Adrian, who talked me through several deletions of files, and finally got me back up and running smoothly. All is now good in iMac land. I just downloaded the CD again and everything went through.
Big sigh of relief!

I've been looking at that W-2 that arrived today. It has a Feb 4 postage date, but it didn't take 16 days to get here. I suspect they were sitting in the mailroom until we began raising hell on Monday about the missing forms.
-
I suspect you are correct.

I just downloaded the CD again and everything went through.

PHEW!

DR Elmore condolences on the loss of your friend

DR ChasSmith, so sorry about Kali. Vibes of comfort in the loss of your furry family member

I'm anxious to see who Obama nominates for the Supreme Court. I keep seeing Jane Kelly's name on the news. She went to law school with Obama, but worked with me! She was the supervisor in one of the Federal defender offices here and I was the supervisor in another. She would be excellent. But it still amazes me that there is even a remote possibility that I could know a Supreme Court Justice as well as I know Jane
-
I couldn't sleep last night...bleh!
-
It was a very long week, Productive, but very long. I really need to work this weekend, but I need to get some rest first.
-
I'm thinking I need ice cream
-
I don't have any in the house, so I may have to go buy some
-
It was in the 60s here today. The snow is just gone in many places. The rest may go tomorrow
-
We had horrible wind early this morning. In the 50+mph range. Sounded awful
-
Bruce: This original cast CD you are doing -- was it released on LP? If so, could you give us clew by letting us know what label issued it on LP?
-
Am too out of the loop on this CD guessing, I guess.
-
It's raining here in Oakland now. It was an overcast morning but the rains started a couple of hours ago. It's steady, if light. It will move out tonight ("they" say) and we'll get clear skies and warmer temps tomorrow and Sunday.
-
I got a new region-free Blu ray player today from Amazon.com. It's a Sony BDP-S3200 Wi-Fi upgraded Multi-Region Zone-Free player. Plays PAL and NTSC. My LG region free only played "some" European discs and refused to play others. This one is pegged to play any and all.
Can't wait to get it hooked up.

Great Book Trailer!
-
It's quittin' time.
-
I'll just mosey on toward...

Page 4.
-
Was just looking at the Downton website. There are 9 episodes and I think Sunday is Episode 8 so there should be one more after that.
-
Hi Ron!
-
Great trailer for the book , BK!
-
I'm sorry about Kali, DR ChasSmith.

But it still amazes me that there is even a remote possibility that I could know a Supreme Court Justice as well as I know Jane
Cool!

Last night there was a cat in my window well at 1:00 AM Needless to say it was quite an event. It just sat and looked in the window while Boo and Ricky looked at it. I briefly considered going out and getting it, but it was under the window well cover (there was a way for it to get out). It was protected from the wind, there are dry leaves to lay on and it wasn't that cold out. I thought if I went out and tried to catch it, I would have scared it, it would be in a worse place than if it stayed in that spot It must have left about an hour later because Boo and Ricky came upstairs like nothing had happened. Haven't seen it around at all today. If I see it around during the day I'll try to catch it and take it to the Humane Society or the Animal Adoption Center
-
I actually think it may belong to someone. If it's the cat I think it is, I'll never catch it. That one is feral.
-
DR Jennifer while I agree with you regarding reading an eBook, doing so does not give me the same emotional connection as holding a book in my hands. The more special the book, the stronger the emotional connection.
I prefer reading on my kindle and don't think that I like books more or have a more emotional connection when holding a book. IT is the story that is emotional, not the physical object.
-
I get what you're saying, Jennifer, but for many of us, reading is a sensory experience including the feel of the book, the weight of the book, the physical act of turning pages, etc. And for me it's easier on my eyes
-
I skipped lunch today and had some KFC chicken only about 3. I'm thinking about a small malt and French fries for dinner. Yeah, I know it isn't healthy, but it sounds really good....
-
Now the big decision, Culver's or DQ

I still love walking through a bookstore touching the books.

I thought you were going to follow this with tales of your cats letting out with that horrid angry cat howl ;D

I love DQ's chicken strip basked with the country gravy. :)

That's so cool, Cillaliz!
-
Cillaliz, how do you feel about the Republicans saying that Obama should not nominate someone now, and let the next president (who they hope will be a Republican) choose ?
-
Last night there was a cat in my window well at 1:00 AM
I thought you were going to follow this with tales of your cats letting out with that horrid angry cat howl ;D
No, actually I was surprised at the way they didn't seem to be threatened. I'm thinking the cat may have spent part of the winter in there but I didn't notice. It's actually a lot like a feral cat shelter, but there's no food. I blocked off the gap on the north side of the window well, with the idea that an animal may seek shelter in there when it was bad out. There was still a gap on the south side that the cat could come and go
-
I'm really tired. Going to get a malt may just take too much energy. Think I'll make some oven fries. I'm out of ice cream, but I could have a hot chocolate with it.
-
I'm thinking I need ice cream
I don't have any in the house, so I may have to go buy some
I keep forgetting that I have ice cream in my freezer! I need to remember this when I'm at home!

That's kind of how I feel, but I still buy some physical books, just because I want them and they're a little more special than just the story.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Condolences to DR Elmore on the loss of your friend.
-
So sorry to hear about DK Kali, DR Chas.
-
Enjoyed the book trailer. Very BK, methinks.
-
I, too, am looking forward to the new book.
-
DR Vixmom, I've been awakened many times with palpitations and know how uncomfortable they can be. The head of cardiology at UCLA advised me to eat potassium foods (such as a banana) and drink a big glass of water. But since this would usually happen during the night, I prefer using potassium capsules (99 mg).
But what has worked the best for me has been magnesium. I keep magnesium capsules next to my bed, with a glass of water. My favorite form of magnesium is Neuro Mag from Life Extension. You could use any brand, 100-200 mg. (Avoid the 400 mg, as it's too much to take at once.) Neuro Mag quiets the palpitations very quickly. One osteopath I go to has gotten rid of her life-long migraines, as well as all headaches, using Neuro Mag, and now recommends it to her patients.
http://www.lifeextension.com/vitamins-supplements/item01603/neuro-mag-magnesium-l-threonate
-
I also like the homeopathic cell salt form of magnesium, known as Magnesia Phos (or Mag Phos). They're tiny tablets which dissolve instantly in your mouth. (Not to be taken with water.) They, too, will calm the heart. I find them very helpful if I have muscle cramps or are feeling edgy or stressed.
http://www.1-800homeopathy.com/mag-phos.html
(I take the 6x tablets.)
-
Lastly, I highly recommend Dr Stephen Sinatra's THE SINATRA SOLUTION: METABOLIC CARDIOLOGY. This is very well written and understandable. It's also well organized, and you can easily skim and skip if you wish. In the back he gives his recommendations for afib, as well as other aspects of heart disease. This is the best source I've found on the subject.

Season Five of Inspector Lynley had a great ending with genocide, the Bosnian War, London gangsters, and the accidental death of Mrs Lynley. On to Season Six, which only had two episodes. Why bother?
-
!!!!! 5 !!!!!
-
Healthy vibes to all!
That includes DRs George, Jane (and Keith), Ginny, and anyone else especially needing them.
-
TOD:
I've been watching CALL THE MIDWIFE Season 4 for the second time. I do love this series.

IMHO, there is NOTHING that can take the place of a well-stocked book store!

TTFN.

Healthy vibes to all!

Thanks, Jeanne! I'm doing much better now. :)

I am about to file a dispute with paypal -- I have not yet received "Patrick Bronstein Presents."

And now, it's time for me to leave and do some theater stuff.
Be back later.

I think E books have their place, but there is nothing like holding a real book in your hands, feeling the pages, and highlighting and underlining your favorite sentences.
It will be a SAD day when book stores become obsolete!!!

Because this happens in the novel. The books have never been as good since then.

I would never write on a book.

I'm thinking I need ice cream
That seems like a very good idea.

I so very sorry Chas. (((Hugs)))

The Vixter has safely arrived in Orlanso

Today was beset by stupidity

I would hope so. I happen to be very fond of the LP.
-
So, yes, the cast album was previously on an LP but has never had a CD release.
-
Back from four hours of auditions. I know who the definites are and still have to see four people who were sick. But everyone was sick - the faculty, the students, every single person was sick with the flu or a cold - so more Sambucol and Airborne tonight for me.
-
While we only have one or two what I would call people who will be able to handle solos, I'm hoping with a lot of hard work the others will come through.
-
Checked the basement window well. No cat. I think it went home. That's a good thing
-
Time for sleep. I'm totally pooped out.
-
So, yes, the cast album was previously on an LP but has never had a CD release.
It's never had a CD release? Or is it a show like Golden Rainbow or Donnybrook!, which were released on CD semi-sorta privately?
-
Good night, all.
-
The Vixter has safely arrived in Orlanso
Good :)
-
Good evening!
-
Six!!
-
Good evening, 6 Guests!
-
What are your names?
-
What kind of ice cream do you like?
-
Chas, my condolences!
-
I love books. I love my Kindle. Why do we have to chose? I think there is room for both in this world.
-
I certainly couldn't ask BK to autograph my Kindle each time another book comes out.
-
I usually increase the size of the kindle font, just so I don't have to strain my eyes or my brain. That usually throws off the display, but I know it is going to happen so it doesn't bother me.
-
What does bother me is the number of spelling errors you find in kindle books.
-
It's as if my sophomore typing class had been hired to re-type all of the books for use by the kindle.
-
Gee, all of the Guests left when I said "hello."
-
I have that effect on people.
-
My friend (again), Betzy and I had lunch together today.
-
She will start working on housecleaning for me on Monday.
-
She was going to start on Sunday, but Monday works better.
-
Now I don't need to rush home from church if I don't feel like it.
-
Not that I have any hot plans, but you never know.
-
I used to love checking my e-mail. Now it is all SPAM and ads.
-
And political e-mails begging for money.
-
Last week, I donated to a political campaign. Later that day I received a thank you e-mail, which ended with a request for more money! I couldn't believe it.
-
Tomorrow we are supposed to have a break from the rain, but for one day only.
-
But then, starting on Tuesday, we are supposed to dry out for several days.
-
Maybe Spring is closer than we think.
-
Either that, or we will have a big snowstorm in March.
-
Cranberries!
-
Underpants!
-
I should take my pills and get ready for bed.
-
Which means switching over to my iPad.
-
Wow! How did it get to be eleven o'clock?
-
Just one more post for this page.
-
Seven

I think E books have their place, but there is nothing like holding a real book in your hands, feeling the pages, and highlighting and underlining your favorite sentences.

It will be a LOOOOOOOONG time before physical books are no more. Just ask anyone who works in a library that serves rural areas. ::)
;)

Whew!
-
So, yes, the cast album was previously on an LP but has never had a CD release.
Any more clews?
-
Tonight at the show, we had a great audience!
-
I don't know what happened, but this was the most responsive (in a good way) audience that we've ever had.
-
Hopefully, the audiences for our last two shows will be just as enthusiastic.
