Well, you've read the notes, the notes were all about the Oscars and race, and now it is time for you to post until the Oscar-winning cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PERMIATE!
-
POST DELETED
-
I can't comment on the Oscars because I haven't watched them all...except that I will comment that I wasn't impressed with what I saw. Just not very good, like most everyone else has said.
-
First after TCB and George!
-
Good morning, all! Saturday night I slept well, last night I slept terribly. I am sure that by 2:00 this afternoon I will need a nap.
-
Today, I've got work with Joshie in his new office at City Center. I also need to reschedule an appointment on March 11 since that's the orchestra reading of the new 1776 scores.
-
I saw nothing of the Awards and I apologize for missing last night's partay. I planned to be in bed no later than 10:00, and I knew that if I got caught up in the ceremony and HHW festivities I'd never accomplish that,
-
Coffee!
-
I had dinner with an old friend from high school last night, so I missed everything. Doesn't sound like I missed much.
-
Good morning. I don't see movies and I don't have a tv, so I had nothing to add to the partay last night.
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee!
-
Sorry for disappearing without saying good night I suddenly felll asleep.... I saw Leo win and remember noticing no scroll of thanks. And have absolutely no recollection of his speech....I woke up around 3 am with the tv still on and the iPad on my lap
-
TOD:
Midway through the broadcast, I went into my office and finished writing the first draft of my new play.
Does that answer the question?
::)
-
TOD. Part 2:
I have every Best Picture winner in my DVD collection.
Thankfully, MAD MAX: FURY ROAD didn't win that award, because that would have ended the tradition.
I was bored with that film ten minutes in.
-
I still have to see THE REVENANT and ROOM. Also, THE BIG SHORT.
Waiting on RedBox.
-
Good morning to all
-
I didn't watch the oscars.
-
I watch Mad Max Fury Road and I didn't like. Technically it was great and I am sure it deserved all the Oscars it won last night. At one point my dog rolled over and landed on the remote and the film advanced 15 minutes. Since it look like what was happening for the jump I decided not to go back to see what I missed.
I also watch Irving Berlin's Blue Skies. A Jukebox musical. People complain about Broadway doing so many jukebox musicals, but Hollywood did it well before and at least the songs were great.

KINDLE COUNTDOWN DEAL: HAIL ON THE CHIEF!
A Kindle Countdown Deal begins today (about 8 am PT) on my stage play, HAIL ON THE CHIEF!, a non-political political comedy that asks the question: “What would you do if you hated your next door neighbor, and he’d just been elected President of the United States?”
This is the straight play that, a few years ago and with the help of BK, we adapted into a musical.
This one-week sale starts with the book priced at 99 cents, and then escalates every day or two until it reaches the regular price of $5.00 at the end of the week. A similar Countdown in the UK also begins today. So, act fast!
The play is also available in a paperback edition and as an audio download.

-
Bruce hope you wake up to good news on this extra day of the year.
-
Monday morning greetings! I made it to the end of the Oscar broadcast, but crashed as soon as it was over. Richard had given up long before.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I used to watch the Oscars, but I don't miss not seeing them. I do read the list and get on with my life.
In years past, I did enjoy seeing Steve Lawrence and Sammy Davis Jr. do a medley of movie songs that were Not Even Nominated, as it was called. Such a thing would be impossible nowadays because people wouldn't know the songs.

Thanks to DR FJL for the book!!! It is most excellent, and I look forward to reading it!!!
-
I bought a new wireless keyboard & mouse for my computer. I am liking it much better than the T I N Y keyboard & mouse that came with it. Perhaps my typing will improve.
-
I enjoyed the party here at HHW last night - but the terrible show made it hard to keep talking.....there wasn't much to say except UGH.

RE: The Oscars
I did not like the scroll at the bottom of the screen. It went too fast for me and was hard to read and distracting.
I was so happy that Mark Rylance won Best Supporting Actor. I just loved him in Bridge of Spies.
I thought that Chris Rock was good at time. Although I thought that his monologue at the beginning went a bit overboard. Make your point but don't keep going over and over it.
I really liked that Chris Rock had a big presence throughout the show. But I was annoyed that they wasted so much time with the Minions skit or showing so much of each movie (for example in the screenplay categories) that they cut off people who were accepting awards.
-
More Oscars:
I was really moved by how they did the Lady Gaga song.
I wish they would start the show at 8pm instead of 8:30pm. It is too long for it to go till midnight.
I want to see Room (loved the book). And Spotlight. Not sure about the Revenant.
As for the fashion:
I didn't love Cate Blanchett's mint green dress. She looked nice as always. But didn't love the flowers all over it.
I liked Saoirse Ronan's emerald green dress. Although i didn't love the back.
I hated Olivia Wilde's pearl Valentino. I didn't find those two strips of material covering her breasts to be flattering at all.
Love Jennifer Lawrence but did not care for that dress.
Rooney Mara's off white lace dress was interesting. I don't usually like how she dresses. But she looked nice.
Brie Larson looked really lovely. Although i liked the bottom of that dress more than the simple top.
Charlize Theron looked lovely in the red dress she wore.
Sofia Vergara looked amazing. As did Margot Robbie in the gold dress. And I really liked Naomi Watts.
Did not love what Kate Winslet wore. Did not like what Kerry Washington wore. Did not like what Heidi Klum wore.
Did like Alicia Vikander's lemon dress.
-
Jennifer, I agree with you on Saoirse Ronan's dress and Olivia Wilde's. I didn't like Rooney Mara's dress because I thought it washed out her color, except for what looked like an Alfalfa hair bump at the back of her head. (I only saw her from the front, not side or back.)
Margot Robbie, whoever she is, looked great, perhaps best of the evening, IMO.

-
I liked Julieanne Moore's dress.
-
I'm up, I'm up, barely. Very rough night with dreams I didn't care for, and woke up to not get what I was hoping and expecting would be here, which means I probably won't have it until the end of the week now.

I used to cover Madison Twnship schools. I think I even saw a production of All American there. Or maybe that was Camden. It's all a blur.

Hello all:
Sorry I didn't realize that BK' Oscar Bash was on HHW.
My thoughts:
I thought Chris Rock was good in making a point in one way regarding the lack of diversity, but also suggesting that the boycott was somewhat childish!
As far as the fashions:
Cate Blanchett looks great in almost anything. I didn't love the dress, but she could really pull it off.
My favorite ensemble was:
Lady Gaga's white pantsuit with the attached cape and oversized cuffs. Also her performance was very moving and emotional for a lot of people.
I also thought Whoopie Goldberg looked fantastic. Loved the dress!
Loved Charlize Theron's red dress, but thought it was way to revealing. It would have been classier without showing her assets.
I love dresses that are simple and elegant. I hate dresses that are too revealing, plunging and that show side boobs. They are not flattering to any women in my opinion.
-
Also loved the color of Reese Witherspoon's dress.
-
MY QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer.
Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future."

And I am home from City Center. I proofread the Overture and "The Egg."

Well, I just received a package of CDs from BK! Thanks!
-
I have a Diva by Diva (Judy Kaye) and a Falling in Love DVD sitting here - did anyone order those?
-
Back from a breakfast burrito. Will jog in a few minutes.
-
Since yesterday evening, I'm taking great pains to NOT get a cold. There's "something" that seems to want me, and I'm doing my best to keep it from getting me. Just a slight cough, a very slight tightness in the chest, and a feeling of being run down. Well, I can deal with that, because thankfully I have no obligations until Friday. And I've been around a bunch of different people who have been sick, so this is not surprising. I just don't want it, is all, and I'll go down fighting.
-

I received "Diva by Diva," but I didn't order any DVD.
-
Back from a jog. Anyone who is fighting a cold needs to go get Sambucol immediately - not the syrup - specifically the quick dissolve tablets. They are miraculous.
-
Will do, BK. Thanks.
-
What I was waiting for this morning just came, so yay on that.
-
I, for one, did not enjoy the Oscars. While I recorded it while watching other programming, I did tune in from time to time. I relished seeing Maestro Morricone win his long overdue Oscar (even if he's written better scores that were nominated but overlooked in favor of lesser scores in other years).
I loved DiCaprio's very gracious and eloquent acceptance speech.
Didn't love Chris Rock. Didn't find a lot of the show Oscar-worthy. I thought the In Memorium sequence shockingly lacking. And why were 2016 deaths listed in a 2015 necrology?
Sue me.
-
I read somewhere that the flu is rampaging throughout California.
We have had many cases of bronchitis here at work.
I don't want any part of any of it, thanks.
-
I tried to participate last night.
I now have wi-fi and have a tablet by my chair in the living room.
Could NOT remember my password to save my life.
Tried using my security question: What is your mother's maiden name. I answered the only way I could -- with the correct name -- and the system spat out a "no-sale" refusal to admit me as if I were an unexpected watermelon seed.
Bah! Bah-bah-bah!
I now know the password I last used and will try it at home.

Time to celebrate George Kennedy, who passed this day (unless it's another hoax) - ninety-one or something like that - what a long and wonderful life. I don't do these mindless shares when people I don't know die, but I had the pleasure of playing his son in a CBS pilot - we came within an inch of selling, but instead CBS bought Struck by Lightening, which tells you all you need to know about CBS. That show lasted less than a half-season, whereas I think had they made the right choice, we would have run for years because, you know, our show was about real people, written by the fellow who'd go on to create Cosby. George and I really bonded and after they aired the pilot he called me and said, "Can't tell you what a pleasure it will be working with you." That's the kind of man he was - gracious and warm. I saw him six or seven years ago - he wasn't doing well, but he remembered me and we had a nice chat.
-
Nice remembrance, BK. I always enjoyed watching him act.
-
Aw man, too bad. Very nice remembrance.
-
But YAY!!! on the thing waited for!
-
I would have watched George and MR BK in a series.
-
Page two? Really?
-
Page three? Really?
-
Time for rehearsal.

Wonderful, BK!
-
Yep, that's a series that got away. For sure. Sad.
-
I hate being poor! When's that lottery win coming through?
-
In the past week, three separate people told me Don Knotts died. Yep, in 2006 - and sadly, there's been no improvement. But sure enough, someone had reposted an obit, and people were going around reporting it.

Hello, everyone.
-
IMO, the Oscars are a lot more fun to watch when (1) you've seen a few of the films, and (2) you have a TV. I've neither. My sources are online. I did participate in Red Carpet observations and had fun doing so.
I hear so many people say that they no longer go to movies. Movie lovers, even. I think the thrill has gone, and movie-going isn't as much fun as it used to be. The enthusiasm isn't there. So, good Oscars show or not, I just don't think any Oscars party (or partay) will be as much fun as it used to be.
And I regret this.
-
Health vibes to all!
-
TCB, did you ask Nicky what he did with your glasses? I hear he can be a real scamp. ;)
-
I have no news. Sometimes that's a good thing.
-
TTFN.
-
That was a nice tribute to George Kennedy, BK.

I can only imagine.

And I hope never to know.

What surprised me more than the racial-blind casting was John Larroquette as Benjamin Franklin. I can never picture anyone other than Howard Da Silva...and I've seen the live show a couple of times.
-
And THIS (http://www.journal-news.com/news/news/crime-law/middletown-student-arrested-with-handgun-at-school/nqZyD/) happened later today at the high school right here in town - Rob's, Richard's, and DR Elmore's alma mater...
-
Sigh, but good it was reported.
-
DR TCB did you find your missing glasses? Sometime I find using a flashlight helps me dee them better.

-
One of those cast in 1776, Santino Fontana, is on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which was just on. Does anyone watch? I think it's a lot of fun.
-
Had a lovelier than lovely rehearsal. What songs!
-
And I was looking up the pilot we did and there's not much about it but I did find this review in people from when it aired. People Magazine called it right - but then again, CBS has always been run by idiots. ALWAYS.
George Kennedy is perfect in this romantic comedy as a gruff widower who falls for a young pediatrician (Anne Schedeen). His notions of propriety clash with hers when she suggests a trial live-in before marriage, but his sprightly mother-in-law (Irene Tedrow) and son (Bruce Kimmel) help patch things up. It's a pilot that flopped and shouldn't have.
-
FOUR!!
-
Four? Really?
-
Let's make that five, shall we?
-
Someone just grabbed the Twilight Time Blu-ray perk. We're now 70% funded with about ten days to go - we can DO this. Shockingly, no one has taken the Lost in Boston or Anastasia Affaire art and let me tell you they are BARGAINS - especially the David Byrd.
-
I hate being poor! When's that lottery win coming through?
Your mouth to God's ear.

Good evening!

Well, obviously not a very good night.

Less than 100 posts at 10:00 pm PST.

I did find my glasses this morning.
-
They were stuck between the mattress and the nightstand.
-
I am sure that Nicky stashed them there when I wasn't looking.
-
But, at least, I found them.
-
Today the weather was nice and dry.
-
It rained early this morning, but after that it was nice.
-
My friend Sandy is in the hospital.
-
He hopes to go home tomorrow.
-
He had a blockage in the liver duct.
-
My guess is that it was brought on by the liver biopsy they did on Friday.
-
I imagine this will be a endless cycle.
-
He was very tired when he texted me, so hopefully I will find out more tomorrow.
-
0 Guests to harass tonight.
-
0 regulars besides me.
-
And there is nothing regular about me.
-
I met my friend, Diane, for lunch today.
-
She had the day off from work for some medical tests.
-
So we met at the Red Wind Casino.
-
They have a pretty good buffet, as George's parents can attest.
-
Five
-
Page five at 10:30
-
And frankly, I am brain dead tonight.
-
I enjoyed the Oscars more than everybody else.
-
My biggest complaint is that Leo was allowed to ramble on and on without any music playing him off.
-
Not 15 minutes before that, the Best Director winner was interrupted with play-him-off music, even though he was giving a very powerful message against discrimination.
-
Personally, I believe that a director is more important than an actor, especially on a film.
-
I don't mean that she should have played Leo off, but why play off the best director?
-
I enjoyed the Lady Gaga segment, although, quite honestly, I don't really "get" Lady Gaga.
-
Still, I thought it was a very powerful song, and I was impressed by the appearance of those victims of abuse.
-
I thought that the evening was lacking in emotion.
-
And did anybody explain to the nominees the whole purpose of scrolling the names under their acceptance speeches?
-
The idea was to give them the time to say something more profound.
-
So, my guess is that none of these people have anything more important to say than to thank "their team" and mom and dad.
-
So, next year, I think we can scratch the whole idea of scrolling a lot of names under the winner.
-
And another time saver might be to start timing the winners from the moment their name is read.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
These people hug and kiss everybody that might possibly be involved with their film, they shake hands with total strangers as they walk down the aisle, and then they chat with the presenters.
-
All of this before they even get to the microphone.
-
Instead of giving them 45 seconds for an acceptance speech, give them 1.5 minutes from the time their names are announced.
-
Knowing that the clock is ticking, these winners might move their asses a little faster to the stage.
-
And if they have a whole lot of people to thank, they might haul ass to the stage.
-
The worst offenders were those winners that were in those private boxes.
-
These people hug and kiss everybody that might possibly be involved with their film, they shake hands with total strangers as they walk down the aisle, and then they chat with the presenters.
Yes, where once people leapt to their feet and got to the stage as quickly as possible, now we have this other thing and it's just so pompous and unnecessary.
-
I did find my glasses this morning.
Good.
-
I assume that groups of technical nominees were seated together in those little boxes in the back and side of the house.
-
They were stuck between the mattress and the nightstand.
I usually find my missing glasses in or near the bed.
-
Anyway, such is my two cents.
-
I have no comments about the fashions of the evening, although I will say that Sophia Vergara would look hot in anything.
-
SIX!
-
Okay, that is all I have to say.
-
DR TCB, best of vibes for Sandy.

I need to switch to my IPad.

Can't sleep, Jane?
-
Nope. I slept last night. I'm going to read and see if that helps.
-
'night
-
Good night.

Thanks, George. It is all pretty upsetting.
