Well, you've read the notes, the notes had too little sleep, and now it is time for you to post until the sleepy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ABSTRUSE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Last night, I ushered for the national tour of "The Producers." I had never seen the stage show before. I loved it! The performers were all very good, and the actor playing Franz is fom Oregon! Evidently, he had family and/or friends in the audience. There was almost an entire full house, well over 800 expected. The audience loved the show. A great time was had by all.
-
I did noticed that they cut two songs, "It's Bad Luck to Say Good Luck on Op'ning Night" (they just had one line about how you're supposed to wish someone bad luck), and "Betrayed." The courtroom scene was very short. I don't know if it's because the understudy for Max was on, or if they're just cut from the show. I'd heard a couple of people say that it was their 99th performance, and the first for the Max understudy, and that tonight, their 100th show, is their last. This tour will now be over.
-
And now, to bed.
-
Congrats to Jane on your milestone!

Wow cutting Betrayed! That is Max's "showstopper" and it also gives a recap of the whole show. How did they get away with that! I hope that wasn't the norm. As for "It's Bad Luck to Say Good Luck on Op'ning Night" it's a one joke song but it's fun to hear. But still that wasn't Mel Brooks and the other creators intention not to have them in the show.
A national tour of only 100 performances is not a big tour to me. It is roughly 3 months providing the did 8 performances a week at each stop.

and Good Morning to All

Good morning. I must get me to the church on time

Good morning, all.

George, do you know if that were the non-equity tour of "Producers"? I think it's the same company that staged it here recently. I didn't get a chance to usher for it, and I heard nothing about it. In San Antonio, they only played one day of performances and were then gone to another city/stop.
The same production company has a Bullets Over Broadway that's playing today. Again I'll have to miss it.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Closing night tonight, and right now I am just luxuriating in my morning and afternoon off. Yesterday was crazy and I'm fortunate to have survived it.
-
But I am now twenty-four hours without the need for drugs, not even so much as an aspirin, and that is a wonderful thing.
-
Feel better vibes for DR TCB, ChasSmith and Ginny!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Good morning, all! I slept really late for me. Around 9:00, I decided it was time to rise. I'm not shining at all, ut I am moving.
-
Around noon, I need to call Citibank. A second debit card arrived in yesterday's post with a completely different account number! WTF?
-
I'll finish my proofreading for Joshie today, get myself organized for tomorrow: podiatrist at 9:30, then City Center. Joshie hopes we can finish the proofreading tomorrow so he has Tuesday-Thursday to enter fixes and adjustments, print full scores for Ben, the conductor, format the parts, and print and tape the parts for Friday's reading.
I believe all that's unproofed at this point are the Tag after "He Plays the Violin" and a reprise of "Yours, Yours, Yours."
-
If I get my energy up, I may also make a market trip. there is absolutely nothing to eat in this dump beyond shelled walnuts, peanut butter, and bread.
And cookies.
-
I need a nap.
And coffee!
-
Good morning!
-
I could use a farmer's breakfast right about now.
I may not be able to eat it all, but I'd sure like to have it set before me.
-
DR Elmore continues to whet my appetite for 1776.
-
Sunday morning greetings! Today's title is the story of my life. I've "slept" 3 nights in a row in my Momcave recliner and by 7am today I could not get comfortable. Coughing or not, I'm going to have to try sleeping in our bed tonight.
-
Richard went to church in Dayton, Rob went to church in Mason, Mary Linda is visiting her brother in Sacramento prior to a business trip to Portland, Oregon, and I'm home with the cat.
-
Hmmmmm I seem to be better this morning. Not one cough yet.....and I have been up quite some time.....

And now - here is a mystery.
Yesterday afternoon, a tow truck pulled up to the house behind mine. They tilted the bed down used the chain to pull a machine out of the garage and onto the truck. I couldn't tell what it was.
Precious and I were watching. There was a lady in the cab, and she saw us standing in the door. She ducked down in the seat. Then she pulled out a VERY bright flashlight and started shining it in our eyes. Strange.
I got my camera and took a couple of pictures of the machine. No one on Facebook could identify it. Perhaps some HHW'er knows what it is. A Google image search says that it might be a PVC maker of some kind, but it doesn't quite match.

DR Jrand65, clearly, your neighborhood is being visited by aliens.
Get out while you can!

Congrats to Jane on your milestone!
Thank you.

That was the general consensus on BookFace DR CHAS SMITH. However it was being taken AWAY!

But I am now twenty-four hours without the need for drugs, not even so much as an aspirin, and that is a wonderful thing.
Great!

Hmmmmm I seem to be better this morning. Not one cough yet.....and I have been up quite some time.....
Good news regarding your coygh. Vibes Ginny says the same tomorrow.

Hmm, guess flashing a bright light in your eyes did not stop you from getting a good look or from taking photos ;D

and a reprise of "Yours, Yours, Yours."
An old parody - "the Adams Family theme" mashed up with "Yours Yours Yours"

Remember that $500 check I deposited two weeks ago that the Citibank ATM ate? Well, Citibank has sent me an email requesting a photocopy of the front and back of the check!
Ir took me around 30 minutes with Customer Service, followed by my writing a letter saying "good luck with that! YOU have the check, not me!" What fresh hell will turn up next?
-
I'm reading Bill O'Reilly's KILLING PATTON. Fascinating book.

LOL very funny DR FJL.

No it didn't DR JANE. LOL I didn't get my camera until after the flash attack.

Thanks, Jrand!

Proofreading finished. Nap? DVD? Book?
Hmmm . . .
-
Incredible, DR FJL! :)
-
Thanks, Chas!

I watched BLACK NARCISSUS onDEMAND last night.....that is one good movie.

I'm up, I'm up - I think I got nine-and-a-half hours of sleep.

I needed it.

The tours that come to the WCPA are non-Equity and rarely put on more than one performance.

Yes, non-Equity. The regular audiences don't know what that means, but most shows are pretty good and done well.

PAGE THREE DANCE!!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
It's a beautiful day in my 'hood. It rained overnight, the sky has cleared, and it's windy but sunny. Lovely!
-
Glad to hear of the progress with the HHW Coughers. Let's hope that DR Chas can remain drug-free and DR Ginny will soon progress up the ranks to the clear-lung contingent.
-
Health vibes all around.
-
DR Jrand65, clearly, your neighborhood is being visited by aliens.
Get out while you can!
EXACTLY what I was thinking! Great minds...
-
Anticipating more good health reports.

Appropo of nothing, there's an eclipse coming on Tuesday.
-
Hi, George.
-
I have no news.
Have a nice Sunday, everyone.
-
Hi, George.
Hello, Jeanne.
-
I am thinking about using some of my IRS return to make a trip to Ohio. I think I may need to spend several days at the Miami University Lirary explaining soem of my collection to those cataloging everything. Looking at the finding aid, there are too many "unknown" items.
-
Is anybody watching Downton Abbey's finale tonight?
-
Elmore, do you have a smartphone? I deposit all my checks using my phone. You take a photo of the front and back, and the bank deposits it on that basis. If you do that, then the bank has to have the photo, because it won't deposit the money unless it can read both sides.
-
Cleaned out some of the garage today. It's an ongoing project that is draining me. But I think I've cleared out enough space that you could park one car in there.
-
I need to get rid of so much stuff that I just don't use.
-
Went to Gelson's and got two big salads. Came home, ate one of them (very filling and almost zero calories), and watched the rest of the Bacharach concert. Now I must do some writing.
-
Is anybody watching Downton Abbey's finale tonight?
Nope. Another damned PBS drive in Manhattan!

Nope. If I'd been smart, I would have held the check until Monday and given it to a teller.

Isn't there also a per transaction charge? I don't know how much it would be, but that's what I wouldn't like about the "convenience."

Nancy Reagan has died (http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/06/politics/nancy-reagan-dies-obit/index.html). She was 94 years old.

I thought MR BK wrote that he went to Gelson's and got a BUG salad.
-
Is anybody watching Downton Abbey's finale tonight?
Yes me! Well hopefully I will be able to finish it tonight. I think it's a 2 hour show. So it will finish pretty late.

So dumb of them. If their machine ate it how would you have a photo of the front and back? Or do they expect everyone to take photocopies of all of their cheques before they put them in the bank??

I don't believe that Citibank has that service. So what happens to the original check after you photograph it?
-
I'm reading Bill O'Reilly's KILLING PATTON. Fascinating book.
I thought so too
-
Is anybody watching Downton Abbey's finale tonight?
Yup. I'm a little irritated that they are doing it during fundraising week, but I also don't blame them

Started writing a monologue about the Pan Pacific Auditorium.

Four!!

Is anybody watching Downton Abbey's finale tonight?
I am
Me too, though I've already seen it on the DVD. Before Downton, the Maryland PBS stations are showing "BAFTA Celebrates Downton Abbey." It's not on the DC PBS station so I'm not sure if it's on others.

Yes, Tacoma was to be their last performance after last night in Olympia.

As TCB predicted a few months ago, I'm going to Germany. I'm leaving tomorrow for Dusseldorf, then taking a train to Oberhausen to see Phantom of the Opera, in German.
-
Yes, Mr. BB is playing the Phantom. My friend from the Netherlands is joining me to see the show on Wednesday. Of course, I'll probably see it more than once!
-
That's pretty cool, Kevin!
-
Well, I need go get somehing to eat, so I'm off.
Be back later.

I have too, too many books checked out from the library.
-
I am off to read :)
-
Back from closing night, and from a fine cast partay at a local tavern called, appropriately, The Tavern.
-
Where a very fine burger was had.
-
As was a fine Manhattan.
-
And I am ready to hit an early sack.
Looking forward to a fine ME day tomorrow.

Yes. No spoilers, please.
-
Since I don't get TV, I'll have to watch Downton tomorrow. I'm watching Sicario right now. It's good, butt not great, and it could certainly stand to lose 10 minutes or more. Emily Blunt is the best thing about it.
-
Are souvenir books of interest to anyone out there? I'm thinking of making a perk for some that I have, some of which are somewhat rare. I have no idea what these things go for, however - I'd put together a grouping or two, I suppose. Here's what I've got - Gypsy (Merman - Klugman was gone, Alice Playten is in it), Carnival (Anna Maria Alberghetti, Ed Ames, JoAnne Worley), Seesaw (Lucie and John Gavin and Tommy), Ben Franklin in Paris (Preston), West Side Story (Larry Kert, Sonya Wilde), Fanny (LA Civic Light Opera, Italo Tajo, Claude Dauphin, Dorett Morrow and - Van Dyke Parks!), Guys and Dolls (Allan Jones, Jan Clayton, Pamela Britton), Timbuktu (Eartha Kitt - ticket stub included, also a flyer), Carnival in Flanders (Dolores Gray, John Raitt pre-B'way when Bretaigne Windust and Jack Cole were still with the show), The Most Happy Fella (Weede, Sullivan, Lund - review from a San Francisco paper inside), Carrie (Buckley, Hately), The Music Man (Preston, Cook, Burns, Kelton and the rest of the originals), Bye Bye Birdie (1st national with Elaine Dunn, Bill Hayes, Jessie Pearson, Joan Blondell), Call Me Madam (Stritch, Kent Smith, Pat Harrington - San Francisco review laid in), Little Me (Caesar), On a Clear Day (Harris, Cullum). Anyone have any good ideas on pricing or best way to perk these, let me know ASAP.
-
I have also started cleaning up this office room, which is a horror. It'll take ages to get it all sorted out, but maybe I can just get parts of it clean soobner than later.
-
Holy smokes, some of these go for hundreds of dollars on eBay. Who knew? So, there are sixteen here - what do you think a fair group price would be for all sixteen or two groups of eight and eight. For example, on eBay there are several flop musical programs from around the same time as Ben Franklin in Paris that are going for $150 or so. I want to make this attractive for the Indiegogo campaign.
-
Someone suggested I look at actual sold items on eBay so I did. A few flops not as interesting as Carnival of Flanders or Timbuktu went for over $100. A Gypsy souvenir book same as mine went for $65. I'm thinking of maybe an average price of $15 or $20 - I saw nothing that sold for under 20 on eBay and they were nothing like these. What do you think?
-
I just watched THE MARTIAN.
Moral of the movie: knowledge of science can help out in all sorts of unexpected ways.

If your goal is to raise money why let them go so cheaply?

As TCB predicted a few months ago, I'm going to Germany. I'm leaving tomorrow for Dusseldorf, then taking a train to Oberhausen to see Phantom of the Opera, in German.
Travel vibes to DR Kevin!
We needn't ask how good Kevin's German is as I'm sure he knows the show quite well.
-
Good evening!
-
The goal is to go all the way on the campaign and I'm just trying to make the package affordable and attractive.
-
Hi, Jeanne!
-
It looks like TCB has already come and gone. How are you feeling today, Tom? I hope you're feeling better.
-
Oh! He's baaaacckkk!
-
The goal is to go all the way on the campaign and I'm just trying to make the package affordable and attractive.
Did you decide on a price for the GYPSY signed by Sondheim?
-
Were you able to attend the matinee, Tom?

I'm here. I am feeling a little better.
-
Good. I hope you continue to improve.
-
Were you able to attend the matinee, Tom?
I decided that I didn't want to risk it, so I missed it.
-
Bruce, any dates for the LA show yet?
-
Sorry, but I do understand. I've missed so many things.
-
Surely you will make it to the goal now.
-
Or...........
Shirley, you will make it to the goal now.
-
I almost bought a ticket to THE PRODUCERS, I would have lost my money on that.
-
I'm very tired.
Good night.
-
I'm very tired.
Good night.
Good night, Jeanne.

BK left without answering my question.

Perhaps it is better if I don't get an answer.

Night, Jane!

Thank you all for the feel better vibes.

Well, I can take care of this.

One more post.

I need to switch to the iPad.

Good for your bank. My credit union charges a fee, but since I rarely receive any checks, I don't use the service...and I don't have a smart phone.
-
TCB, yes decided and it was on the Indiegogo page for over a week before it finally sold - $400.
-
I've put up the programs perk, for those interested. I also found some posters from the Menken/Schwartz benefit I directed back in 2007, I think - signed by everyone - Cindy Williams, Alice Ripley, Bruce Vilanch, Patrick Cassidy etc.
-
TCB, yes decided and it was on the Indiegogo page for over a week before it finally sold - $400.
No, I was referring to the GYPSY first edition you mentioned n this morning's notes.
-
Ah, that book. It would be around the same, I think.
-
Better not think about it!
-
George, do you think they might have cut the one song because the understudy didn't know it? Or was it not listed in the program?
-
George, do you think they might have cut the one song because the understudy didn't know it? Or was it not listed in the program?
It must be the way that the show is performed regularly, at least for this tour. The program insert that was specific to the tour does not list those songs.
-
Strange! It's like they were doing THE PRODUCERS JR.
-
Strange! It's like they were doing THE PRODUCERS JR.
Except that if you don't know those songs, cutting them didn't affect the story line. I can imagine that the producer(s) and/or director probably felt that those would be the easiest to cut for reasons of time.
