There were about 18 men (including me) who auditioned.  That's great as a reflection of the talent pool in Olympia, but not so great for me. :-\

All by myself.  It's too late for the West Coasters and too early for the Central and East Time folks.  Not sure about DR Laura, though.  I think Arizona doesn't participate in Daylight Saving Time if I'm not mistaken.

Title: Re: THE DAY RUNNER
Post by: George on March 13, 2016, 03:57:54 AM
Back to yesterday's audition...I think I read well enough.  HOWEVER, there is one character (I didn't specifically read for it yet, though), where someone refers to him wearing a wig and he says, "It's not a wig.  It's a comb-over.  It's all me."  The guy who read for that scene has a buzzcut.  Actually, no guy who auditioned has hair long enough to have a comb-over...except me!  I haven't had a haircut since last year, and I usually only get it cut a couple of times a year anyway because if I get cast in a show, it can then be cut any way for any kind of character.  And for the first time ever, my long hair is actualy needed for a role!  It's specified in the script!

:D

Richard went to Lima today, but I'm home.  Not because I'm coughing (which I am), but because there are some things to do around the house before he has a clergy gathering here Tuesday and I will have no time tomorrow.  So today I'll bake a coffee cake and clean up the living/dining room and tomorrow I'll visit my cardiologist in the morning and the pulmonologist in the afternoon.

TOD from yesterday:
American Beauty
I'm surprised no one else mentioned it. Even Spacey himself said it was the role of a lifetime. I liked "Beyond the Sea" too. It's too bad they didn't do it when he was a bit younger. It is shocking how much he looks like Bobby Darin. I had the privilege  of seeing Kevin Spacey sing in a concert he did to promote the movie. He has a very nice voice and concert was very enjoyable.
"Seven" was just disgusting.

I have little pocket calendars from about the last twenty years, and they are amazingly valuable in keeping recent nostalgia in order.  I can only wish I'd preserved things like that from earlier lives.

I didn't hate it.  I was just very disappointed in it, and with soooo many books to read my tolerance
isn't what it used to be.

I skipped to the end, which I do sometimes to determine if I want to continue the journey.  I rolled my eyes, dropped my expectations, and then super sped read through the parts I wasn't interested in.  There were still bits in the story to read to get me to the end.

Then there is that darn book challenge.  I felt to claim the book I needed to read more ;D  I have claimed books when I have marked a few DNF figuring they equaled out.

DR TCB, I agree with you: Death of A Salesman is a horrible play.I think Mr Miller is overrated, but I do like The Crucible very much.  It's ow plating on Broadway and I wouldn't mind seeing it.

I think I read on Castrecl that Philip Glass' score for this is wonderful, at least in one writer's opinion. I'd love to hear that/see that.

It's bluebonnet time again. Here's an image someone took from last year. My friends had a patch on their property, but it wasn't this extensive.

Well, I hate to do this (no, really, I do), but I must be off.  I agreed to help my sister put up shelves in one of her closets (I think), and I couldn't do it last weekend, so it has to be today.  So, I'm off.

Until later!

I'm home and it wasn't shelves in a closet, but blinds that I needed to put up.  They were actually pretty easy to put up, except for having to use my left hand to screw in the right side of the blinds. :P

Joshie has reported today on Facebook that his brother Jeremy made a successful Broadway debut in the pit of Fiddler on the Roof this afternoon.  I could say nothing yesterday, but he could not go to see Bright Star with me because their parents came in from Vermont to surprise Jeremy amd catch the performance.

Congrats to Jeremy!

:D

:). ;D

I got an e-mail today saying to come to the call-back tomorrow night.  I got the impression that most people were going to be asked to come back, but we'll see how many actually will be there.

Last week I went with Keith to the natural food market near his gym.  I purchased cashews.  FINALLY, I found some I actually like.  Now the problem is not to eat too many.

What makes these cashews so special?

Nope.  I'm trying to figure out how much money TAO made for "On the Verge."  We have cash sales, we use a Square reader for at-the-door purchases (tickets and concessions), and we've been using a new website, artful.ly (https://www.artful.ly), to sell tickets.  That's what's taking me so long.  I'm not used to their website and it's not very intuitive. :P
