Well, you've read the notes, the notes stumbled but ran, and now it is time for you to post until the stumbling cows come home.

I am just loving these Day Runner notes.  After you get through 1985, could you just make up a few more years, just for our entertainment.

Today, I will be ushering at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts for their SILENT MOVIE SERIES: WESTERN DOUBLE FEATURE (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/upcoming-events/2016/3/20/silent-movie-series-western-double-feature.html).

Before I go there though, I need to go to Costco and get some food for the cast and crew of TAO's next show, The Credeaux Canvas (http://olytheater.com/season14/credeaux/) by Keith Bunin, which opens on Friday.  The Sunday before every TAO opening weekend, the board provides a meal for everyone working on a show.

Since there are no food restrictions (allergies or whatever), I was going to get the turkey tortilla sandwich roll things...assuming that Costco has them.  They did a couple of days ago.

I've had them and they're not bad.  They're smaller than Costco's hot dogs, but pretty good.

Those dear readers who have Netflix.....could you check to see if The High Powered Rifle starring Miss Allison Hayes is on there?

No one has seen the film for about fifty years, and it's really the only film she made that I haven't seen....if it's there perhaps it can be recorded for me.....

I didn't know Lembeck had done the Goodbye Girl pilot - and while I adore him, he's the reason it didn't sell - because he has all the obnoxious and pushy qualities that Dreyfuss has (as do I) with none of the heart or warmth (both of which I have) - same reason his chemistry with Mackie Phillips was off and why he didn't work on One Day at a Time.

Oh, I lucked out a bit on the Mac purchase. I called MacMall because you can usually save a few dollars by buying from them, but they didn't have the models I was interested in in stock. It had never occurred to me to go to BestBuy, although there's one right near me. They turned up in a Google search, had the models I was debating between in stock, and even had MacMallish prices ($50-60 less than retail). When I checked their website on Thursday they had a 3-day sale on and the price was considerably lower. Yay!

I went to Costco last week and got a refund of the portion of the membership fee that goes towards "executive membership."  I had only gotten a rebate of $22 (they give you a certain percentage (is it 5%?) of your purchases for a year (well, it was more like 10 months for me)), so I gave them the rebate check back and they refunded $55 in cash.  I explained that the woman who opened my membership last year convinced me to get executive membership even though I didn't think I would spend enough to make it worth my while.  They were very nice about it.

After waiting in the rain and a grueling thunderstorm for 2 1/2 hours, we made it to Willie Nelson's party on Friday.

Then on Saturday, we went to Rachel Ray's public party where Naughty by Nature were the headliners.

Then they showed up at Ray's house party, the first major band or artist to do so, and proceeded to stand in line for food, then pose for every photo people asked them to.

They were nice by nature. Talkative, sweet even.

Caught about 15 minutes of North yesterday, one of the worst movies ever made. Surprised to see that Scarlett Johansen as a little girl was in it.

Everything she's done since is a step up.

I finally finished reading The Goldfinch, which is very long.  I thought the first half was great, truly a beautiful, wonderful novel.  Then I felt rather bogged down by it and was relieved to finish it.  The writing did stay consistently beautiful, it was the story that dragged for me.

Was it the drugs? I don't want to give away anything for non readers,  but I sort of felt something similar.

SPOILER

Yup, and more.  I was very tired of Boris.  when they left the country it was interesting but again dragged on too long for me.

Yay!

I will be doing a reading of Harvey Fierstein's Safe Sex this Thursday at the World AIDS Museum and Education Center in Fort Lauderdale. I will be appearing in "Manny and Jake". It is a fundraiser for the museum. Donation asked is $10. There will be a Q & A afterwards and wine and desserts will be served.

I have the executive membership, also.  I only got $24 back.  I was planning on doing the exact same thing...getting back the difference of the membership.

Good for them doing the right thing.

From what I understand, it's a regular policy to refund the difference between an executive membership and the regular membership if you don't get enough back from the rebate.
