Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the day of the day runner, and now it is time for you to post until the day of the cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FARRAGINOUS!
-
First post after BK!
-
I am going to be really sad when these Day Runner notes end after tomorrow.
-
BK, is THE GOOD ONE available for production? Is the script available somewhere?
-
First after TCB!
-
I fell asleep rather early, so I was up rather early today.
-
TOD: Leaving out many truly excellent shows where we knew the people involved, I'd say Claiborne Cary's show (around 1992-93 or so) stands out as a fond memory as a very pleasant entertainment surprise.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. STEPHEN SONDHEIM (bk's very close and personal friend)!!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LORD LLOYD-WEBBER!
-
TOD:
In 1996 in Sarasota, Florida, I saw three ladies do a terrific cabaret show. One of them was Cindy Robinson.
I don't recall the name of the show, but it was quite good.
-
During the last two nights, we watched BROOKLYN and STEVE JOBS.
Both were excellent.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I've got a high school day today. It's in River City.
-
Yesterday started off lovely-ly and later became full of aggravations, causing me to wonder if something was up with Mercury. I would really like the rest of the week to be nice.
-
One thing I sort of accomplished is just passing my previous level of familiarity with Finale. And though that's not saying much, it's probably what sent Mercury off into a tizzy.
-
I have less experience and familiarity with cabaret than with most anything, the great majority of it associated in recent years with BK and Sandy Bainum and Kritzerland.
-
Good morning, all! I slept late and felt absolutely no shame about doing so.
-
After yesterday's physical therapy, my leg was killing me. I hobbled and limped about all afternoon. At 7:00 I was delighted to lie down, slap a heating pad on my left thigh, and read. I turned off the lights around 10 after taking the inflammatory drug my orthopedist prescribed.
-
I have an open day, so I have no plans at all.
-
Coffee would be nice.
-
I just drank my last K-cup!
-
A stop at Stew Leonard's is in order.
-
Yesterday we woke to a snow-covered world. Today it will be 53 and tomorrow 66.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD: I haven't seen a lot of cabaret, though I've seen great cabaret stars, like Bobby Short in concert. But when I was living in Sarasota, Florida, around the same time Druxy mentioned, Ann Morrison from the original cast of Merrily We Roll Along moved there to raise her son, Huck. She did several cabaret shows that were wonderful.
-
There is a full moon penumbral eclipse happening early tomorrow morning.....that might be causing some havoc DR CHAS SMITH.
http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/lunar/2016-march-23
-
More entertaining notes!
TOD: I haven't seen many cabaret shows....but there was a fun Christmas program featuring a very talented local singer/actress named Su Ours. It was name No E, No H. Noel!
She sang and told Christmas related stories....most entertaining.....
-
Tuesday morning greetings! Because we had 2 bananas that were perfectly over-ripe, I made banana pecan muffins for our breakfast. They were delicious!
-
This afternoon is my pulmonary function test at our local hospital.

An "ask BK" moment:
Did you ever know or work with Christopher Norris?
Ditto Moosie Drier?

TOD - Back in the 1970s, DR Elmore produced, directed, and performed in "recitals" at our local Women's Center (now Middletown Historical Society). That was where I heard the songs "Class" and "Coffee in a Cardboard Cup" for the first time.
-
This popped up on my Facebook feed this morning:
Detroit Landmarks (http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2016/03/the_fisher_buildings_incredibl.html#incart_river_mobile_home)
I have distinct memories of all but 3 of these locations. My dad worked in the GM Building (now Cadillac Place), we attended theatre in the Fisher Building, and, as a teenager, I frequented the Detroit Institute of Arts and the main library. Went to several pre-college conferences at the Mcgregor and my first eye doctor was in the David Whitney Building.
-
Test vibes for DR GINNY.
-
Sound like the April Kritzerland show is shaping up nicely.
Too bad that so many people are opting out of SUN VALLEY SERENADE....I guess they don't know good music when it's offered to them.
-
My new glasses are ready, so I am heading down to 72nd Street to pick them up. Full report upon return.

TOD
The best cabaret show I've ever seen is anything with Jason Graae.
We've also seen a couple variations of "The Rat Pack" which is always good fun.

Test vibes for DR GINNY.

A word of professional advice to DR Ginny:
Get that book out - fast - and go immediately into hiding.

Could a lot of that be the folks who are mainly thriller/horror/sci-fi fans? Though I should think just closely reading the descriptions in the announcements would sway a lot of people into trying different things.

Did anybody watch the premiere of Dancing With The Stars last night? Lots of promising celebs.
-
On a more serious note, DR Elmore and I have a mutual friend returning today from a vacation in Italy. I hope she's not routed through Brussels...
-
I heard from my friend, Sandy, this morning. He has been in the hospital since last Friday. The chemo ended up kicking his butt. Today's chemo is cancelled. That is all I know for now.
-
I've read, on Facebook via The Masquers Club of Hollywood, that actor Peter Brown has died. This is not "official" as there was no link to an obituary. One of the members who knows Brown notified the club.

While I have been to some of those I wish I had been able to see the inside of those beautiful old buildings I somehow did not get to tour.

I had such a major crush on him. Not that long ago we watched all the episodes of THE LAWMAN and I complimented my childhood taste. He was still the best thing about the show.

Vibes you pass the test!!!

Too bad that so many people are opting out of SUN VALLEY SERENADE....I guess they don't know good music when it's offered to them.
Ditto...and WHAT MUSIC THEY WILL BE MISSING.
I really don't think there is much appreciation for the music of the 40s among younger folks. I have loved it all my life.

PT will do that to you. I hope it was worth the pain!!!
-
I am home with my new glasses, which are an improvement. Waiting for the bus back, there was a crowd icluding a mother with two uncontrollable girls aged around 3 and 5. I could have gladly thrown all three under the bus.
When the bus arrived and they boarded, I waited for the next.

I don't know how long this will last, but at the moment, THE LAST MONSTERS is the #1 New Release on Amazon in "Play and Scriptwriting Reference". ;)

Test vibes for DR Ginny.
-
Vibes of all kinds for TCB's friend Sandy, for DR Elmore and anyone else in need.
-
Jack Viertel's new book on musicals came in at the library today. Guess I know what I'll be reading.
-
The oak pollen season is here. Blech.
-
I just had a wonderful 45-minute phone conversation with my friend Bruce Pomahac. Now that's he's moved to Milwaukee, I miss him enormously. I'll see him on April 15 when he comes into Manhattan for the orchestra reading of Do I Hear A Waltz?
-
Thanks to everyone who sent vibes for my test. We have returned and I survived. Probably won't get any results until my next appointment with the pulmonologist.
-
Vibes for Sandy!

Bad hearing. It was Benson according to the lyric booklet. Still like the change.

Good news DR DRUXY!

We want to see photographic evidence of DR ELMORE's new spectacles.

Ahh..."Benjamin Stone" definitely sings better than "Benson F. Stone."
I had a friend in college who went by Ben, but his first name was Benton.

P.E.O http://www.peointernational.org/ (http://www.peointernational.org/) Can't tell you what that stands for, but the website explains what we
P.E.O. has been explained to stand for "Philanthropic Educational Organization". However, the Sisterhood acknowledges that "P.E.O." originally had a different meaning that continues to be "reserved for members only", and so the public meaning is not the only one.

Has anyone here ever gone for "the London look"?
I keep seeing infomercials in which women are encouraged to use makeup/cosmetic products to get longer lashes, more beautiful skin, whatever else is involved. And the informercial always ends with "...get the London look".
From everything I've ever seen -- in person and on TV -- is that the typical London look is quite plain, often dowdy, and hardly earth-shattering.
-
DR Ginny I am glad you survived :)
Thanks, DR Jane. It wasn't bad, but it's not something I'd want to do every day.

Those "London Look" ad men used to speak with a heavy guttural sound as though London denizens growled they words at each other. All I know about the "London Look" is that it seems rather Whores R Us garish and none of my friends in London resemble the "Look " at all.

I am sleepy.
I worked on the orchestration for the other song I have to do, and I am eager to get back to the Moross score.

Hello, everyone.

Mega vibes to TCB's friend Sandy.

I was glad to see DR Ginny post that she has returned in one piece from her test.

I woke up with a congested head, but had a Thai torture session scheduled. I always walk out of there feeling like I've been hit by a truck. Believe me, I wasn't thinking about the cold.
-
Daniel, my torturer, likes a lot of banter to distract his clients. I think there's a latent thespian in him.
-
I am now waiting for Time Warner. They call repeatedly to "remind" me. I haven't forgotten. I suspect that the people who stand up these people would do so anyway. Maybe caught in traffic or just don't care.
-
Sarah Palin is going to be a judge on a court show? Legally dumb?
She has zero credentials and no law degree. BUT, the network says, she has 6 million Facebook followers and that equates to a big daytime TV audience.

Chas, I bought a 13" Macbook Pro. It's an old model, from 2012. I was debating between it and the 13" Air. The Air is newer technology and a very nice machine, but the Pro has the CD/DVD drive, which I rather like. My old Macbook has served me well and all I wanted was a newer one, which the Pro is. Yes, I am sooo last century!

When I read "the London Look" I thought of the Yardley models, Jean Shrimpton & Twiggy, in the 60's and 70's.

I love using MyChart. I get my test results quickly and don't have to wait for the doctor to call.
Yesterday the results from my bone density scan came in. I'm not sure what this new doctor will advise. Different machines register can be off from each other making this first year here confusing.

In the "I thought I was done with theater for a while" department (don't hate me, BK), the next show that TAO is doing is The Credeaux Canvas (http://olytheater.com/season14/credeaux/), which opens this Friday. I was going to house manage a couple of performances and that was going to be it. Well, I got a text from the stage manager asking if I would run the sound board. She sounded a little desperate, so I said yes.
-
This actually simplifies things for me because I would've otherwise had to bring the money till and my tablet (so that the card reader can be used) and have someone keep track of it for the weekend, which would've meant that I wouldn't have been able to be up in my bedroom on the Internet while I was watching TV. First world problems, I know. ;) But now, I will be there every night and I will take my tablet and the till with me each night.

Well, it's time to go to the theater. But first, I need to get a fire extinguisher for the theater. We had an inspection today and they said that the extinguisher that we have is way out of date, so I'm off to Costco, then to the theater.
Be back later.

Got a question for DR Elmore (or his adopted son), and DR Matthew, since it's a question a player might ask of him.
Of course anyone may chime in!
In the third and fourth bars from the end of "The Sadder But Wiser Girl", flute and piccolo trill on an A-flat. In this specific instance, given the absence of any other notation, what rule or guideline tells us whether they should trill to an A-natural or a B-flat?
Click to enlarge, and thank you all! :)

Had a good meeting with the costume designer, had a sandwich for lunch (and therefore have to have something else at some point - probably just a salad thing), rearranged the second act of the LA show for the umpteenth time. I've cut the one song and guess I have to break it to the songwriter - I may not, though, just in case something comes to me about how to make it work or if we're coming in short. There are two other songs in danger, but I wrote a set-up to one of them that I think will make it work fine, and I'm going to try that with the other.
