Well, you've read the notes, the notes had an op'nin', and now it is time for you to post until the op'nin' cows come home.

This morning I have physical therapy.  Depending on how I feel after that torture, I may go down to City Center for the afternoon rehearsal of 1776.  I hope I can.  If not, I'll see it on Saturday afternoon.

To me, the greatest architectural marvel ever is the dome. How did anyone ever conceive it, why did it not end up as a pile of rubble under a vast hole in the ceiling?  I have wondered for years about this construction.

TOD:

The Gothic arch is a marvel to me. Seeing Sainte-Chapelle in Paris with its walls of light was a wonder I treasure more than 35 years after seeing it.

The ornate flourishes of the Moorish/Islamic influence in the Alhambra was also breathtaking.

I would also love to see the Taj Mahal one of these days.

I am home and pondering the City Center trip.  Today I got a new exercise that was truly an ordeal.  I know exactly what it's good will do so I am only complaining that it hurt like hell. My left leg is not happy at the moment.

DR CHAS SMITH check out the EyeBuy Direct website.  They have lots of frames....with precise measurements.  Just measure a pair of glasses that fit well, and you're set!

Usually takes about a week to get the specs.

Tuesday morning greetings!  After a very stern lecture from my doctor yesterday and not liking what I saw on his scale, I decided this morning to return to my basement walking routine.  The goal is 30 minutes, but I'll have to work up to that.  Today I did my stretching and walked for 10 minutes and that was enough.

Maybe four hours of sleep - workers were especially loud this morning, beginning at seven on the dot, yelling, hammering, being obnoxious - time for me to perhaps go have a conversation because I've HAD it.  A little respect and courtesy is a good thing when you're disrupting people's lives for months.  But what do they care, they go home to their nice quiet neighborhoods.

One of my favorite Mother Angelica Quotes:

It's your obligation to speak the truth, and everyone can either take it or leave it.
But truth must be in us.
We live in such poverty of the truth today."

Good because if you are not walking at least 30 minutes a day that is not healthy.

But after getting out of the habit and having diminished lung capacity, you can't jump right in doing a 30-minute power walk.  Today I did 10, tomorrow I'll try for 12, etc.

Can't believe it - books arrived and they're still not right.  I talked to the really nice gal and sent her photos and she feels it's definitely a printer issue and since they use several different branches she's sending it to a new branch - she says the Pennsylvania branch is problematic and wished they hadn't been sent there.  Interestingly, the two copies I got from the new files we sent are perfect - and they came from the Tennessee branch of the printer.  It's maddening.  They're going to reprint them all and I should have them again next Monday, at least that's the hope.  So, please be patient just a bit longer because I really don't want to send these out, even though they're not terrible.

DR Jane, do you ever ask the people who work at the glasses store to help you select your frames? They usually have a good idea what looks good.

Sure, but just as when shopping for clothes sales people are not as critical as I am.  I tried on lots of frames that looked nice enough but they weren't really what I wanted.  I confirmed my decision by taking them home.

My new frames I didn't try on initially as they were in the men's section, which is funny that they are small enough for my little face.  As soon as I put them on I knew they were the ones I wanted but didn't have anymore time to deal with it.

Once I purchased glasses on a whim and then tired of them so I figure why not take them home and play if them if it is allowed ;)

The rain has started. Thunderstorms predicted for the evening. The one the other day took out a tree in the front yard next door.

I really don't like hooking up to an electronic device in order to sleep when there's thunder going on.

Good because if you are not walking at least 30 minutes a day that is not healthy.

Well, I am in real trouble, because I don't walk at all.

That does make it difficult.  I think working your various chairs is like using weights.

Had a really fun first rehearsal, then I was on the phone for quite a while with Shelly Markham, who's working on a song for the LA show - I asked him and lyricist Adryan Russ to take another pass at it, because I felt it wasn't doing what it needed to do (it's about The Black Dahlia) and she came up with a better more succinct lyric and he a better tune, but I still had problems with the bridge, and they finally fixed that.  So, I think it will now be a very interesting number, and one I have very definite ideas for in terms of its staging.

And praise heaven, I finally got the Bruce Vilanch sketch - it's very funny - a bit long, but I suspect if it's played at a rapid pace it will be fine.  Unfortunately, it's a little close to another sketch we have, so I will cut that one, as Bruce's is absolutely funnier.

LA show opens on May 13, previews on the 11 and 12 and running through the 21st.  I'm hoping we can have an HHW get-together here for the show.  That hasn't happened in AGES.
