Post by: elmore3003 on March 30, 2016, 06:58:30 AM: In summer 1968, I worked on a production of BYE BYE BIRDIE, and all the teens were theatre students from Tallawanda High School in Oxford, OH. The girl who played Kim McAfee is now married to actor Andrew Prine I still keep in touch with several in the cast. She was what we'd now call a "Mean Girl," and a nasty piece of work.

I still keep in touch with a lot of the "kids" in the show: one of the boys in the cast now works at the Metropolitan Opera, the boy who played Hugo Peabody works in LA as a leadman on TV and film. One of my friends from the show is coming into Manhattan next week, and while his wife is in conferences at the UN, he's asked me to be his date to see a couple of shows. I've been sending hm links to tickets, etc. I last saw him around 20 years ago when he was in the City for a couple of weeks. We lost touch when I changed my phone service from AT&T to Time Warner and my name in information changed from my professional name to my full name.

I've heard they're doing 95+% of the book, possibly all of it. What I won't know until I see it on Saturday is what the costumes are like. Most of the nice comments I've seen are about how good the orchestrations are. One FB friend praised me, and I responded with this:
thank you for the compliment, but it really deserves to go to my colleague and adopted son, Josh Clayton, who is one amazingly talented young man: orchestrator, archeologist, copyist, and my favorite collaborator. He's City Center Encores! behind-the-scenes genius and I am lucky that he chose me to be a friend and mentor. He did the hard work, and I proofread and threw in my two cents worth of opinion.

But now it means I have to be READY by 7 and not just up. The noise at 7 isn't bad (and it starts two hours later than the construction and garbage trucks across the street). I'll be very glad when it's all over. So will Sugar.

It's almost a silly understatement to say that compliments to either or the both of yez are hugely deserved.

The way this score sounds as played by this orchestra is impossible to describe to those who aren't hearing it.

And I never got around to saying this after the reading, but it was great to see/hear Ben Whitely in action. He seems so easygoing ... but frankly, I was surprised to find how relaxed and easygoing Rob Berman is in rehearsal. These guys are just supremely competent.

We have several matters to discuss including some not-so-fun side effects I seem to be having to one or other of my medications. It's a sort of out-of-body-but-not-quite feeling. I feel like I'm just a tad separated from myself but still attached. This has been going on the past two days.

I remain functional, but it's almost "inner-ear-infection-ish" in terms of the feeling I sometimes get, but my inner ears are fine.

Looking forward to discussing this with her this morning.

Gas had gotten down to a low of $1.75-$1.77 at Costco and BJ's for what I think was several weeks. Now, in the past week or two, it's quite rapidly risen back up to $1.97...the last four cents of that just since yesterday.

I'm not following ANY news these days, thankyouverymuch, so I have no idea what's affecting that. Which is fine. I enjoy being surprised! :D

I had a dental cleaning yesterday morning, which I didn't want to reschedule. I got there, but I wasn't at all sure I'd make it. I came home and just took it easy. I felt a lot better this morning, but it's not over yet.

One little constructive comment, if I may: On my screen, the image of the performance portions are squished a little bit horizontally (or stretched a little bit vertically). Interview segments are perfect, and I'm no techie, but I'll betcha the performance ones could be pulled out to the full 16x9 sides and that might be the correction that's needed. If it can't be fixed, well, most people don't notice this stuff anyway. But I do. :)

P.S. -- DR Elmore should do commercials. "A little moonshine goes a looong way." Perfect!

They probably don't know about Sambucol, which I feel does help. Unfortunately, even Sambucol can't knock it coompletely.

I have a doctor's appointment this morning at 10:30.

Doctor has dropped my Metformin medication and doubled my Glipizide dosage. That works for me.

Other changes are coming up, but she needs to speak with a cardiologist first.

My strange episodes are either minor side effects of Lasix (aka furosemide) or the by-product of either low blood pressure or low blood sugar.

I still have the metformin to take plus Farxiga. Don't know the meaning of low blood sugar lately.

Right after I watched "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" (starring David Hasslehoff), there was an episode of "The Big Interview," hosted by Dan Rather, where he interviewed The Hoff, and they showed video clips of David's music videos from the '80s and '90s. They stretched out the videos to fit the widescreen image, but they didn't have the black bars on the side to keep the original aspect ratio. It was really weird because the rest of the interview was, of course, native widescreen, but the videos were stretched. You'd think that someone who's producing an interview series starring Dan Rather would be able to fix it so that it doesn't look like an amateur show. :-\

So, it should be on a KaCie external hard drive from 2009. The problem is that one the hard drive the iTunes files are arranged by Artist, not Title, and each of the two discs has around 12-15 tracks. I cannot find them all! I found most of them under the performers' names, a few under "The Company," one under "Ensemble," but i am still missing about 4 tracks and it's working my last nerve since I know they are there, but where the fat hell are they?

It was pretty bad - the teriyaki chicken was mediocre, the tempura batter was just weird. Not for me, I'm afraid. Sami's doing The Addam's Family at her school so she wanted to go over some stuff she was concerned about. I gave her a few little things to think about, and a couple of bits to do but she basically had a very good handle on the role.

Good luck the change in the meds works. I have had those symptoms, very likely, due to low blood pressure and low sugar. Also from not drinking enough water before exercising.

Well, I didn't have a hot dog, John. I had one of their hot turkey and provolone sandwiches on a roll. I had been sitting around for a little while (but not a horribly long time), so it's wasn't absolutely fresh, but it was still pretty good...kind of greasy, but in a good way. :)
