Well, you've read the notes, the notes stumbled but did NOT sext, and now it is time for you to post until the stumbling and sexting cows come home - they're off doing Snapchat and sending udder shocking photos.
-
And the word of the day is: ASTERISM!
-
Really? First post after BK at 1:20 in the morning?
-
Really? First post in the actual morning?
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee!
-
First post after Chas!
-
We got a light dusting. A feathery light dusting. It's mostly on the tree branches, very little on the ground, and none on the driveway or sidewalks. Whew!
But the winds are crazy. And though the sky is quite bright, I could swear I just heard hail hitting the house again. I imagine some of last night's hail is still in evidence on the deck.
-
I have but an hour or so to sit on my bloomin' arse, and then I must go out into the world and play several hours of auditions -- whereupon I will have had quite my fill of that for a while.
-
Good morning, all! I've been our of bed and moving about for 40 minutes or so.
-
DR vixmom, I'm happy you got home safely, and I'm happy you enjoyed the show. I guess the contemporary clothing didn't bother you? A lot of the biggest laughs yesterday afternoon came from all the jokes about Congress that are still true today. I do quibble about Abigail's LL Bean look, since I believe - bot do not know for certain - that she was not out plowing and running that farm without indentured servants or fieldhands of some sort. I think I'd like to read her letters to John Adams.
-
Sounds like vixmom had a fine seat. Which section/row was that?
-
I see a new edition of Abigail's letters was published last month with over 100 unpublished ones added, but I think "Dearest Friend" is the one I want.
-
If that's the farm in the cover photo, she wasn't running it alone.
-
More coffee!
-
I'd be happy to read that myself.
This also made me want to watch the HBO John Adams mini-series again.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Allergies are still kicking my butt. And the Benedryl didn't work its usual magic. Ugh.
-
Playing auditions is a thankless task, except for the pay, with long stretches of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror. As with Mitchum in "The Night of the Hunter", one has a L-O-V-E / H-A-T-E relationship with the hapless souls coming in hoping to make it big. We L-O-V-E the ones who set "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" before us, and wish the others, with their poor copies of Sondheim and Jason Robert Brown that have to be sightread, a swift removal from this earth.
-
Elmore, did you ever watch the John Adams miniseries with Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti?

I've heard another pianist say the same. He played sort of a rumbling vamp and then applied it to four or five JRB songs.

A little secret I discovered about sightreading JRB: If you have a moment in which to figure out and master the pattern (or gimmick) of accompaniment at the beginning of a song, you can fake your way through the whole damned thing, because what you see there is pretty much what you get.
Sadly, there is no secret that will ease your way through a Sondheim piece you don't know. :)
-
It's weird, though. I played The Last Five Years several years ago, but twice recently someone has brought in a song excerpt from it, and in a few places it was like I'd never seen the son of a bitch before.
-
Good morning. It's only 34 degrees. I wish I had brought my heavier coat!
-
Thanks to DR VIXMOM for the 1776 report.....my snail mail address has be PM'd, so now you can find me on Google Earth if you care to....I think my car is in the driveway on the street view.
-
Health and show vibes to MR BK & Co.
Continued health vibes to RICHARD!
-
Preparing for the auditions - I have to go and set up the room. Because it is not very warm, we'll have to be in the rehearsal center. This means less room for everything. And of course since every teenager brings two friends with her to auditions, seating is limited.....
-
The heater just kicked in here. It shouldn't do that two days after it was 90 degrees.
-
Audition vibes for JRand.
-
Let's move on.
-
Two!
-
Good morning, happy Sunday.
-
Elmore, did you ever watch the John Adams miniseries with Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti?
Yes. I know Paul Giamatti's brother.
My problem is, after seeing 1776 in 1969, I only see William Daniels as John Adams.
-
Oh my gosh it is cold out today. What is up with this weather? It was 60F on Friday. And now with the windchill it is under 20F.
-
Sunday morning greetings!
Thank you to DRs George, John G, TCB, Vixmom, and JRand for the vibes for Richard. He's much better today and, fortunately, did not have to go to Lima. In fact, we skipped church all together. He slept until after 9am and is taking it somewhat easy.
-
Happy Sunday to Everyone! The latest edition of The Broadway Radio Show is up on this wonderful website for your listening pleasure. It's a fun and informative interview with Beth Krakower, one of the leading publicists for Cast Recordings and Movie Soundtracks in the business. Beth also represents several movie composers and has had an interesting career. On the cast recording side, she handles all of Sony's Masterworks releases and we'll hear some clips from a couple of their latest, the London cast recordings of Bend It Like Beckham and Kinky Boots. Give it a listen!

Abigail Adams is one of my historical heroines. My favorite biography of her is Lynne Withey's Dearest Friend: A Life of Abigail Adams. During my long labor with Rob, Richard read aloud to me from Irving Stone's Those Who Love: A Biographical Novel of John and Abigail Adams.

I'm sure you both needed the extra sleep. I'm glad he is much better.

As much as I love to read I was in way too much pain during both of my LONG labor's.
-
Thanks, DRs Elmore and Jane. Richard felt well enough to go outside and start picking up tree debris from yesterday's high winds. He will need Rob's help with the huge limb in our front yard and the one that's impaled into our back yard.

That's why Richard read to me - I couldn't have concentrated myself. And even in utero Baby Robbie loved the sound of his Daddy's voice...
-
I could not have listened to Keith reading-lol Maybe it would have been a good distraction for Keith. It was really hard for him to watch me in so much pain.
-
Glad to hear DH Richard is feeling better. But these winds here are absolutely ridiculous even today. I could feel the buffeting driving the highways just now. Tell him to take care outside!
-
I'm on kind of a Roosevelt reading kick right now. I'm listening to Hissing Cousins: The Untold Story of Eleanor Roosevelt and Alice Roosevelt Longworth and I'm reading The Man He Became: How FDR Defied Polio to Win the Presidency by James Tobin. Tobin is a Miami University faculty member and we're going to hear him speak Tuesday evening about Ernie Pyle, the World War II journalist.

Now that I think about it, Richard started the reading aloud during a fetal monitoring test that I had a couple of weeks before Rob was born. During labor we alternated between the Adams reading and watching Pete Rose on TV trying to break Ty Cobb's record, which didn't happen until a few days later.

Batten down the hatches, DR ChasSmith, it gets worse before it gets better!

Looking forward to the start of Season 5 of CALL THE MIDWIFE on PBS tonight!
-
I'm glad to hear that Fr. Richard is feeling better today.

Good morning.

Good Day All:

Do any DR'S like the PBS series DOC MARTIN???
It is now one of my favorite shows of all time!!!
-
DR Ginny,
CALL THE MIDWIFE is another one of my favorite PBS shows!!!
Thanks for reminding us that the new season starts tonight!!!
-
DR Ron, were you the one who posted about your PBS station playing Show Boat? What did you think?
-

The contemporary clothing on the men did not bother me,.. But the women's costumes did which I know is inconsistent and ridiculous but that's me all over
-
Sounds like vixmom had a fine seat. Which section/row was that?
I was in mezzanine row A seat 106
-
Which was a fine seat, a lovely seat... Not as fine as grand tier would have been but still a darn fine seat
-

I must slow down when I read. I nearly dropped my iPad in horror to read Richard was impaled in the back yard
-
Glad he is not and that he is feeling better
-
Thank you, DRs ChasSmith and Laura, for more good wishes for Richard.
-
The winds are fierce. When I went out after church I found one of our older ladies in the parking of with her good up and dead battery. Since I have jumper cable I gave her a jump...
I was terrified one of the hoods was going to come crashing down on me
-

No, he was inside during the wind storm, but his nurse at the ER yesterday was also taking care of a man who was hit by a falling branch that, I surmise, hurt his right hip or leg pretty badly. I suspect after we left the hospital they had a few more weather-related visits.

I was imagine the headlines, "local woman decapitated by car hood"

Very good news!

I'm up, I'm up - I slept eleven hours, I think, which is great except I'm really groggy and I now have only two and a half hours before I mosey on over to The Federal. But I needed it. If I'm to jog that will have to happen in thirty minutes.
-
Thanks, DRs FJL and George!
I've just returned from buying the ingredients for a crockpot full of chili for AAUW's soup supper tomorrow evening. Usually I leave a hearty serving at home for Richard's dinner, but probably not this time. He's still on a bland diet of bananas, applesauce, and white toast. Sounds like what his mother used to eat.
-
Back from a jog, have shaved, will shower in a few minutes, and then I'll mosey on over to The Federal.
-
Hello, everyone.

SHOW VIBES for BK and COMPANY!
-
Stay-better vibes to DS Richard.

HEALTH VIBES to all!

Right now I am reading WINTER SOLSTICE, by Rosamunde Pilcher
-
Yesterday I came across something I'd never heard of. What?! A weird medical device that I don't know about? It's called a Lumen and uses light therapy. It's good for pain or burns or any number of other things. It's recommended by Sherry Rogers, MD, whose opinion I respect.
Here's the link:
http://www.lumenphoton.com/
It's a bit pricey, but sounds very useful.
-

I'm very fond of that book.
-
WINTER SOLSTICE is a very long book, but I am really enjoying it.
Any Rosamunde Pilcher fans DR"S?
-
Allergy-begone vibes to DR John G.
I used to have severe allergies. Eight years of treatment with a homeopath reduced them. Still have them, but not to your degree. Have you considered any of the alternative methods, such as quercetin, stinging nettle, or even a salt lamp?
-
A pleasant Sunday, everyone.
TTFN.
-
I'm back from She Loves Me. What a great show! Laura Benanti was just fantastic. What a voice! Loved the whole cast. Jane Krakowski was very funny. Gavin Creel does a great job on the song Ilona. I 'd love to see it again.
-
Wow, is it cold out there !
-
Eleven hours of sleep, BK? Another wow!
-
Have a great show tonight, BK!
-
Stay-better vibes to DS Richard.
Thanks, DR Jeanne!

I remember loving THE SHELL SEEKERS when I read it many years ago.

Thanks for the vibes. We had 15 people at auditions.....and only 2 of them really should have stayed home.....if we have as many tomorrow night, there will be some hard choices to make.....

SHOW Vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
DR VIXMOM - I am the same way, sometimes something small about a production gives me pause and annoys me....even though I think everything else is A-OK!
-
The winds have passed us!!! Both of my trash cans blew over and there are a lot of small branches in the yard, but no damage.

Back, from what turned out to be just callbacks ... for something about a loose foot, something about a coat, and something about things that take a woman. A long but uneventful session.
-
Vibes for good BK health and a great Kritzerland show tonight!
-
So, I got a text from my sister yesterday saying that her ex-husband (and father to her daughter) died. He was 52 years old and had some pretty serious medical issues (his own father died in his 60s and also had some serious medical issues). He and my niece (his oldest daughter) were estranged, mainly because he was an evangelical conservative christian and my niece is an out lesbian athiest. He had another daughter with his third wife, now widow. I don't know how they are doing.
I don't feel a loss because he hasn't been in my life for many years. My niece does have a good emotional support system, so she'll be taken care of.
-
And now, I have to get ready for tonight's performance of "The Credeaux Canvas."
Be back later.
-
WE've hardly had any snow here this winter. Dry here, very dry.
-
Greetings one and all!
Trying to stay away from politics.. tired of the garbage and stupidity.
Also tired of being burned by people and job hunting

Break a leg, George!!

I love stinging nettles in a soup. Can't find anyone here who'll fix that. Is there another way of consuming them?
-
Thanks for the vibes. We had 15 people at auditions.....and only 2 of them really should have stayed home.....if we have as many tomorrow night, there will be some hard choices to make.....

Amen! And welcome back.
-
Man, it's been a busy day.
-
Celebrated a friend's birthday tonight with her and her husband. Made some pumpkin dumplings that need a little bit of work, but I think I have the idea of what to do to make them a little better (a little more salt, a little hot chile). The fresh pumpkin was wonderful.
-
Their backyard is incredible. They have bee hives as well as more than a dozen types of roses. And he grows the most incredible array of herbs and vegetables. His cabbages and brussels sprouts are gorgeous. His parsley plants are the size of shrubs. His citrus trees were in full bloom, and the fragrance was intoxicating.
-
Watching a movie called Burnt with Bradley Cooper as a chef. It's one flat cliche after another. It's not hard to see why the movie flopped. The actors, including Uma Thurman and Emma Thompson, are all phoning it in, except for the reliably interesting Alicia Vikander. At least so far.
So far, a 30 minutes into the movie, we haven't really had many food shots. What's the point/>
Yes, I'll finish, but it feels more like work than enjoyment.
-
Hello, 1 guest.
-
Cranberries!
-
Hey, haven't I type this stuff before?
-
Deja vu.
-
Underpants!
-
And yet we go tumbling on.
-
One more ...
-
Five!
-
We have started the play and there are seven people here (three are comps, though). But overall, more than I expected, so that's good.
-
It's a start!
-
Gratuitous Post #123!
-
Intermission!
-
Good night, all.
-
Good evening!
-
Ahh, page five. That is a site for sore eyes.
-
Or sore iiiiiii.
-
No groaning!!
-
I had a two hour phone conversation with my ex tonight
-
He would be horrified that I referred to him that way.
-
He thinks no one knows that he is gay.
-
Actually no one would know if he was straight.
-
Ah well. The man is turning 80 this August and he is still dying his hair.
-
Of course, hair dyed brown always looks like a cheap wig anyway.
-
I watched a terrific movie today.
-
It was THE HOLIDAY.
-
I know I am a little late to the party on this film. It was made in 2006.
-
I guess I somehow missed it when it was released.
-
Both Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet were delightful.
-
And Jude Law was drop-dead gorgeous.
-
The real surprise to me was Jack Black.
-
I found him really charming in this movie.
-
If there is anyone else in the world (besides me) who didn't see this movie, I highly recommend it.
-
And Eli Wallach was very sweet in the film.
-
Time to switch to my iPad.
-
Looking forward to the start of Season 5 of CALL THE MIDWIFE on PBS tonight!
Darn. We meant to see if we get it.

My niece made me take her to see this in the theaters when it was first released. I thoroughly enoyed it, too.

Thanks, Jane. I haven't had a chance to speak with her, yet. I've just seen the FB posts.

Hi, Tom.
-
Hello, George.
-
My condolences to your niece.
-
Back from a great, great show and will go into detail in the notes, since I was a little secretive about certain aspects of it.
