One long crazy dream involving:  a messy house, a composition for Finale for which the lyrics needed to be copied from this ancient linen-backed score, the making of a large quantity of what might have been a variation on Cincinnati chili, some other stuff I already forget, and two nuns.
Title: Re: KRITZERLAND AT STERLING'S 66
Post by: ChasSmith on April 04, 2016, 05:51:39 AM
The Finale thing was from my having done the upgrade just before going to bed.  The nuns were from my having watched The Lilies of the Field just prior to that.  The food thing very likely derived from a double whammy of cheeseburgers earlier (don't ask).  And yes, a couple of rooms are getting a much needed cleanup today.

At therapy I discovered that one of the nose pads on my new glasses was missing. When I got off the crosstown bus at Broadway and 96th, I discovered that a Cohen Optical store was at the bus stop. So I went in, told them I had purchased the glasses at their 72nd Street store, and they repaired the nose pad for me.

I stopped at Broadway Farm at 86th Street and got some cauliflower, tomatoes, broccoli, bean sprouts, water cress, and apples. There was a fire hydrant gushing water. Since there was no sign of a fire or police crew, I called 911 and reported it.

I watched the World Figure Skating Championships Friday and Saturday.

The men's competition was incredible.  The gold medal skate was phenomenal!  And while the American men did not finish on the medal podium, they finished 6th, 8th and 10th.  Sadly, we will only be able to send two to next year's competition.  There is a rule that any country that has finishers in the top 10 must be able to add the placement of the top two and come up with a number not to exceed 13.  Since 6 and 8 were our top two placements, we lost the privilege of sending three men next year.

The women's competition was also incredible.  The U.S. Women did very well, finishing 2nd, 4th and 10th.  Three women will get to go again next year.

The champions for men and women skated the highest-scoring skates ever recorded in their categories...and both were superb.

I don't know how many of you know of Don Francks, but he has passed away (http://www.fyimusicnews.ca/articles/2016/04/04/rip-don-francks).

Some of you may recall that his death was reported a year or so ago...inaccurately.  Now, it seems, it's sadly true.  He has died of cancer.

For anyone has seen "Finian's Rainbow", he played Woody and wooed Petula Clark in a gorgeous duet of "That Old Devil Moon."

I don't know if I'm up or down or sideways.  I think I got no sleep at all last night, and finally got a couple of hours this morning around ten.  I just did a stupid thing and had a piece of pizza last night (in addition to my pasta with butter) and you'd think I'd know by now that there's something in their red sauce that my stomach hates and I was just nauseous all night long and still am a bit.

I am off in a bit to Day Two of auditions.  Of course we need a few more men.....we probably have enough women, but someone better may show up.

This is my first time working with this pianist and music/vocal director.....we shall see how this turns out.  Of course, as the choreographer, it's not really my place to do much more than add my two cents on the casting.....

For some reason, the director has decided that he needs two actresses to play Amy....one younger and one older......of course he set the age limit at 14, so all of the girls are really basically the same age.....

The girl he is looking at for Jo right now is just not a strong enough actress to carry the show....she is a high school senior, and seems even younger....

Maybe JO will show up tonight.

Loved all three shows...especially "Fury".  I wanted to be Joey, the boy on the ranch with the horse named "Fury".

Of course, I also wanted to be Kevin Corcoran so that I could have played Moochie and Toby Tyler.

I hate to sound like a gushing fan but Santino Fontana just sent me a friend request on Facebook.

Lucky you!  He's so dreamy! ;)

He's so damned talented.

Well, there is that, too!

And on that note (A-natural), I'm leaving work.  I don't have anywhere to go, so I'm going directly home.  It's almost strange to do that. ;)

Until later.

What a weirdly weird day.  I did some interesting stuff with the LA show, and finally I felt okay enough to try some food - so I had a Chinese chicken salad and a bagel.  Then I came home and had a long chat with Lanny Meyers, and now I'm watching an absolutely wretchedly bad movie on Netflix and not feeling so good again.

Interesting that there are so many medical TV shows that I don't think of as being medical.  But I've liked a lot of them as well.

Kate, I'm a big fan of Andy Griffith, the performer. He was fine comedian, a really good actor and very underrated.

Love his performance on the cast album of Destry Rides Again. He's sly and funny.

I'd missed Len on Dancing with the Stars when he was gone, but this season, i' finding him rather rude for the sake of being rude.  I'm wondering if they're encouraging him to be that way to generate some drama.

I think I need to get out my various recordings of Finian's Rainbow. Burton Lane's music just sends my spirit soaring.

I am so sorry to read of his passing.  I was a big fan of the movie version of FINIAN'S RAINBOW, and of his performance.

Naturally the film doesn't hold a candle to Elmore's version, but that goes without saying.

Why, yes he was!  I didn't realize it until years later, but I saw Cheyenne Jackson live in a production of "Children of Eden" in Everett (I think...it was outside the Seattle area, I do remember that).  I found the program several years later and realized the he was in a local-ish production that I saw!
