Well, you've read the notes, the notes found the damn notes, and now it is time for you to post until the damn cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FULIGINOUS!
-
First?
FIRST at seven in the morning?
-
Good morning, all.
And best Monday vibes for all.
-
Good morning, all!

I am quite testy this morning. the damned DVR that arrived here two months ago is dead, so I have no television today. Time Warner claims they are booked today but they can send a service person tomorrow at noon, which leaves me offline today and screws up tomorrow's plans completely. No, I am not happy at the moment.
-
At the moment, I am stuck here awaiting my HMO's "Home Care Service," which means at 9:00 or so, a nurse will show up, take my temperature, check my meds, and leave. This seems to me a waste of my time and their money since I see my doctor, an eye doctor, and a podiatrist every four months already.
-
This is a day in which I want to buy a gun, go up to a Time Warner office and blow it to bits.
-
And on that I will sign off. I'm too pissed off to be social.
-
A supremely annoying start to a week. May DR Elmore's day improve forthwith.
-
good morning to all

TOD:
The BTK serial killings.

I was making my bed this a.m. and the power went out. I wondered what it was I had done to make it so until I was awake enough to realize it wasn't my fault.
Completely dark...utterly dark. I have a flashlight. Could not find the matches for my candles.
Dressed by flashlight. Traversed three flights of stairs in semi-darkness. And when I reached the first floor, 2s and 3s of people scurrying about wondering if anyone knew if the garage gate could be opened manually. I called the HOA president who said that the gate could be opened manually, that there was a switch, but that she didn't know where it was.
Then, the power was restored and we 2s and 3s scurried down to the garage.
Sigh.
-
I did my taxes yesterday.
TurboTax. All filed and taken care of.
Time to increase the tax rate deductions on my Social Security checks.

Feel better and tech vibes for DR ELMORE.
Congrats to DR TCB and DR GEORGE on their millstones.
Fascinating to read about the re-do on the Black Dahlia song....it really was a gruesome crime.....

I think it's time for you to retire DR RLP. You've paid enough taxes.

DR Druxy, are you flying into Burbank or LAX?

I'm up, I'm up - why is anyone's guess. I couldn't fall asleep until after three and then I woke up about ten minutes ago - why is anyone's guess. Not sure I'll go try to get another two hours, we'll see.

Monday morning greetings! Fr. Richard and I were both pretty exhausted after our trip to Lima yesterday, so we're taking it kind of easy today. I'm catching up on some desk work and will probably take a basement walk while I finish an audiobook.

Travel and book signing vibes for DR DRUXY.

Looking forward to Eubie!
For fans of the music, check out the book Reminiscing with Sissle and Blake. The photos alone make it invaluable, but their story is also great to read.

The visiting nurse has come and gone. Some moron called from Time warner and i still have no idea what he was rambling about. Asked me if my DVR was working. Well, duh, dumbass, why do you think I have an appointment tomorrow at noon?

I had the same problem. Was not sleepy when I went to bed at 10:30 p.m. By midnight, I was back in the living room sitting in my chair playing computer games. Was not one bit sleepy. Also, my left nostril was clogged and my C-PAP wasn't any fun when the air was being blocked.
It wasn't until around 3 a.m. that I finally drifted off (and my nostril had UN-clogged and my C-PAP functioned perfectly).
Woke up at 5:50 a.m. and thought about staying home. Decided against it, got up and started making up the bed and that's when the power shut down.
Sigh.

Just finished Hissing Cousins: The Untold Story of Eleanor Roosevelt and Alice Roosevelt Longworth by Marc Peyser and Timothy Dwyer.

I know some of you find it hilarious and others of you hold it in disdain, but we haven't had a nice dose of scatological humor around these parts in some time.
To that end, I offer:

From The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee:
Your word is APOOP.
May I have the definition, please?
Yes. It means: toward the stern of a ship.
May I hear it used in a sentence, please?

I forgot to mention the "Bugsy" Siegel killing.
That's was always fascinating and, of course, I've written about it several times...particularly after one of my neighbors confessed to me that he'd done it.

It's been years since I've seen that, but I find it most protocoligorically correct and beautiful.

No, you're not alone, Ron!

But now, I'm off to lunch.
;)
-
Late lunch, George.
-
We had our annual "chili cook-off" today, but it was NOT user-friendly. Last year, you could pay to taste-test each chili offering and then vote. For a couple of extra dollars, you could eat a bowl of your favorite chili (which, as a side, had cheese and onions and cornbreads to complement the meal).
This time, it was $6 to taste-test and vote. BUT, if you wanted a bowl of your favorite, you had to pay $8.
People stayed away in droves.
-
I bought a bowl of chili. Not certain it was $8 worth, but it was for our fund-raising, so....
-
I appear to be alone again unless George is lurking.
-
I can't think what to have for supper. The chili is sort of "sitting there" but not to an uncomfortable degree.
-
I appear to be alone again unless George is lurking.
Nope, I'm back from lunch. I went to Taco Del Mar. It's Double Punch Monday for their punch card!

Good evening!

Hmmm, does anyone have a belt/waist holder for an iPhone?
I purchased the smallest phone possible so it can fit into my pockets, or at least most of them. I have discovered a major problem, I can't feel it vibrate when a call comes in. Keith called me 6 times today and drove around trying to find me because I didn't know he had called. Fortunately I began to wonder where he was and pulled my phone out of my pocket to call him.
I, not surprisingly, could not hear the phone ring since I was on a street with traffic. The sound was accidentally turned down. The ringer is now locked and can not be accidentally moved.
-
DR Jane I would not keep my phone in my pocket. When you walk do you have a purse or something?
-
I go for fast, long walks. I want my arms free. I put the phone in my back pocket, always have, and I can feel if someone calls. If the phone is in my purse, even a waist purse, I won't likely hear it.
Now I have planes and trains to complete with over the sound of the ring. I could hear the phone fine today, testing it along the river, but not at all when the military jets went over us.
-
DR Jennifer, can you feel your phone vibrate when it is in your purse?

DR Jane, I read the first 5 pretty close together and got a little burned out on the series. Now I'm ready to pick it back up and realized when I started listening that it's very well-written.
-
Today started out rather well I took a shower dressed, ate a toasted English muffin with butter drank a cup of coffee and drove to the local Dunkin donuts and bought a dozen donuts
-
DR Jennifer, can you feel your phone vibrate when it is in your purse?
I didn't mean that you would be able to hear it vibrate in a purse, you won't. I just meant that i would never put it in my pocket. I don't even know that you would feel it in a fanny pack. I guess if you are in a loud place just check for missed calls every 10 minutes.

Then I drove over to see my wonderful oncologist and his lovely lovely staff
-
We caught up over the past 6 months and they all expressed their sympathy about my Dad ( he was also a patient there)

Then I had a thourough exam and was give the "all clear" and an appointment for 6 months hence

So that was very nice

Eubie! arrived in the mail today.

So did the Howard Hanson CD!

Plenty to listen to during work tomorrow.

How are you, Vixmom?

Watching Eddie Cantor in Roman Scandals. Busby Berkeley is insanely wonderful in this picture. There are naked chorus girls with massive blonde wigs chained to walls (one of the chorus girls is Lucille Ball in her first picture) and the music has all these whip sounds whiles other women slaves gyrate until they can't stand anymore. Ugly men leer at them. One falls to her death. And all to Harry Warren music.
The singer is Ruth Etting, the woman Doris Day played in Love Me or Leave Me.

I did check for Keith's call after 15 minutes. That seems like a long time when you are driving around looking for someone. I will have to see if I can return the phone or find something that I can wear it on my waist :(

Eddie Cantor survived the Roman Empire.

But I'm not surviving consciousness.

So it's off to bed.

Hello, everyone.

A BIG CONGRATS to VIXMOM!!
You have much to be proud of!
Hopefully, you can soon take care of that other problem, also.

I'm afraid that I, too, abandoned the MAISIE DOBBS series. i tried several times to return, but just couldn't. Maybe one day, maybe not.

Jane, my hairdresser has one of those holsters for his iphone 4. He's very happy with it. The iphone 5 isn't much bigger than the 4 and you may be able to find a new one that fits a holster. My 5 is only a smidgen bigger than the SE. They're available on Amazon.

I love Babs as much as the next fellow, but these clockwork press agent-posted "announcements" about Gypsy are hilarious. Whenever she's been out of the news for a year up they pop, with some new person attached. Like anyone in their right mind would let Barry Levinson direct a movie of Gypsy. This movie is not happening, was NEVER happening and never WILL happen. When it was first "announced" which was about four years ago, Ms. Streisand was newly in her 70s. It was a howler then that she'd play the mother of little kids, and guess what - it's four years LATER. There's no deal in place to make the movie so how exactly has Barry Levinson signed on to anything? And let's say a miracle happened and somehow they went into production later this year, as they say they would - which they won't because, wait for it, there is no DEAL. That means shooting next year. Someone post Ms. Streisand's age as of next year.

On April 24, 2016 (two weeks from tomorrow), she'll be 74 years old.

So by the time they actually shoot (which they won't) she'd be seventy-five. I don't think so unless they want to make it great grandmama Rose.
