Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the big act one finale, and now it is time for you to post until the big act one cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: WITHY!
-
good morning to all
-
I woke myself up this early because I screamed in a dream. I don't think I ever did that before
-
The last one that made be cry was Kritzer Time, but in a good way
-
First post after Michael! After BK.
-
Saturday morning greetings! Sorry I've been E & T this week - nothing catastrophic, but I've had a lot of this 'n' that. Wednesday I spent most of the day with my friend Becky and Thursday with Mom. Friday morning Rob and I helped with the move out of the book sale site and in the evening I went to Miami University in Oxford for a poetry reading/Q&A with author Marge Piercy. Today Mary Linda and I are going to a fundraiser luncheon for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library at the local Miami campus.

Travel vibes for DR TCB!

Sorry to hear about your friend DR Jane.

Travel vibes for DR TCB!
Have fun!
-
Dizzy actors - they're everywhere!
-
TOD:
A few.....including Kritzerland and To Kill a Mockingbird.
-
AS THOUSANDS CHEER is on.....Kathryn Grayson's singing voice is so irritating....it grates on my ears.....same thing with Jane Powell.
Ugh.
I can hear someone like Deanna Durbin sing the same songs in what is presumably the same key, and she doesn't bother me.....I don't know what it was about MGM that liked that shrieking type of singing.....but UGH.
-
DR Jane, I was sorry to hear about your friend...
-
I woke myself up this early because I screamed in a dream. I don't think I ever did that before
I am pleased to say I have not done that in a long time, or woken up by bolting into a sitting position.
-
Thank you DR Ginny.
-
TOD - The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan.
-
Good morning, all.
A good SATURDAY morning to y'all.
-
Because we were due for a Saturday morning.
-
A GOOD Saturday morning.
-
A big ol' Bon Voyage to TCB!
-
Today is RECORD STORE DAY.
Drop by a record store for a few minutes if you can. It's good for the soul.
-
It's a fine spring day out there.
So what am I up to?
Well by golly, I guess I'll drop into a record store. And this evening I'm seeing a production of Sister Act, of which I know nothing.
-
I was asked to play in it. The MD's description of the score had sounded like reasonable fun. But conflicts abounded.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Bad night of sleep: my bladder was not happy and i was up far too many times. There were many strange dreams, none of which I now little, except one about a frightening apartment, buying new beds for my children and myself, my neighbor Mark helping me carry the old ones dwn to the street, an Irish friend who came to look at the apartment, and a tower with a threatening witch-ghosdt-whatever.
-
DR TCB, I hope you are safely en route to your cruise and that you have a wonderful time. I do miss being online with you at the same time, but we do live several hours apart in time zones.
-
DR Cillaliz, nice to see ytou back. I loved the rakers story.
-
My big dream last night involved a special hamburger and fries, being about to watch some good movie or other, oversleeping a bit, a very heavy bathrobe, some mailboxes, and an interesting apartment building across the highway.
-
Yesterday, after I got home from the reading, I was mentally exhausted. I had some dinner, watched Act One of a Royal Opera production of Die Fledermaus, read a bit of Franco Zeffirelli's autobiography, and went to bed.
Today, my leg is not working so well as I would like.
-
Apparently, apartments were the thing to dream about last night.
-
TOD:
My first memory of a book that got my emotions all worked up was Melanie's death in Gone With the Wind, which I read when I was about 12.
I remember being moved to tears by the following books:
To Kill A Mockingbird
Charlotte's Web
A Simple Plan
Claire Tomalin's biography of Jane Austen
several of BK's books
-
More Coffee!!!!!!!
-
Apparently, apartments were the thing to dream about last night.
I have nightmares about most of the haunted places I've lived; my grandmother's home at 711 Tenth Avenue is the most frightening.
-
TOD:
I know there have been more than this, but yes to Mockingbird and yes to Kritzerland. Capote's short story A Christmas Memory. I'm blanking on others right now.
-
There are MANY more than that. They just aren't coming to me this morning.
-
Oh well. More coffee and some ham and eggs are calling.
I haven't bought or had a "ham steak" in years. And not for any particular reason. I certainly love me my ham. But I was browsing a different section in the supermarket the other day and this damned ham just called out to me. "Take me home!", it said, plain as day. And that brings us to where we are now.
-
It is a nice Saturday here....weather wise....
-
I just got back from having breakfast with my cousins Ross and Karl, who are in town to see a baseball game.
-
it turns out that last week was the final working Saturday of this tax season, but Monday (tax filing day) should still be quite busy.
-
Bon voyage to TCB!

TOD:
The Thornbirds made me cry for days.
-
I'm up, I'm up - barely - horrible night of non-sleep. I think I may have to just give up on red sauce - my tummy cannot deal with it anymore.
-
Tomato sauce is hard on the stomach and also causes reflux, a double whammy. Since having to go on reflux medication in order to eat I can occasionally eat tomato sauce without getting an upset stomache.
-
I can't even remember ALL the books that have made me cry. It can be a bit embarrassing reading and crying in public places. Fortunately I cry quietly, most the time.
I remember reading the end of Old Yeller after hiding it behind my social studies book in class. I sobbed loud enough that my friend sitting in front of me turned around. Fortunately I was in the back of the class and the teacher didn't notice.
-
I have never read My Antonia and think I should rectify this. Last night I began The Painted Sisters and am wondering if it is worth continuing. Any opinions on either Book?
DR Ginny I believe you have read them both.
-
I went for a 4 mile walk, returned, washed off the blood that was on my hand and jacket-from where I don't know, cooked cream of wheat, and there wasn't a single post between this one and my previous post.
-
Yes, DR Jane, I have "read" both of the books you mentioned. I actually listened to My Antonia. The first audio version was narrated by a woman, who was awful. When I found a different version by George Guidall, I was much happier. I read the Painted Girls on my iPad. Seems I got a little bogged down, but I did finish it.
-
Mary Linda and I had a nice time at the fundraiser, but it went a little long. The featured speaker was Will Hillenbrand, a children's book artist who's from Cincinnati. He was great!
-
Back from breakfast (light and with ginger ale instead of Diet Coke).
-
Our injured actor ended up going to the hospital last night - the took x-rays - mild concussion, no internal bleeding and he'll rest for a few days and be right as rain - he'll be with us on Monday I believe and we'll ease him back in and we won't return to the act one finale till the end of the week anyway.

After reading this I'm still on the fence with The Painted Girls. My Antonia seems to be on a lot of "must read" list. Maybe I will switch books and see if it grabs me. I'm interested enough in Painted girls but know there story is just going to be depressing and possibly take the beauty out of Degas's dancing girls.

Good vibes for the injured actor.

And more vibes from us, too!

And from me, too!
Having been an injured actor myself (remember, DR Elmore?), I can tell you that young man will always approach that point in the show with just a bit of trepidation.

I was playing in a production of CATS when an actor took his leap in a scene blackout and landed front teeth first against a part of the set. He knew he was in trouble, but also that his mic was still on, and he managed to not make a sound as he sought help. One upper tooth had been knocked out, which he found later after the hospital told him to look for it because it could very likely be put back in - which I believe happened okay. That was scary and sickening, just hearing about it later.

It is finally Spring here. I went for my second bike ride of the year. And this time I was able to bike around the lake. The trees had no leaves. But the ducks were there and it was not muddy or too wet.
-
Actor mishaps are always scary!
-
The book that made me cry the most was Bright Side by Kim Holden. It actually made me feel too much.

Good Day All:

Happy news. Where do you carry your phone when you are riding your bike?
-
I think I want some ginger ale. I only have the generic brand....so that will have to do. I am partial to Schweppes......
-
The 4th edit of the Moross score is finished. tomorrow I will look through all of the score, see where I have orchestration questions, and check them out on Monday at Columbia.
I did find one grisly thing in the Finale where I let a horrible situation get out of control. I'm sure that Scott, my copyist, will be throwing things and cursing at me for several days since he has to clean up my mess.
-

I keep forgetting to buy some Canada Dry at the market. Not having it in the house I don't drink it so that is good.

I always have my emergency two litre bottle DR JANE!

I have a basket. But i don't usually carry a phone when on my bike.

I could never drink that much. I buy the extra small Pepsi cans and don't usually finish one of those, if I even have a Pepsi. I wish Canada Dry had mini cans.
I was addicted to Pepsi and it took a lot of years for me to get off of it.

You should in case of an emergency.

Speaking of drinking.....We went out to dinner tonight and I had a Rittenhouse Rye, neat. Oh was it good.
-
I don't think I have mentioned today HOW MUCH I enjoy my new computer ;D
-
In the mail today, a purple cover for my tablet. I think it will be more comfortable to read in bed now.

Still not feeling well, tummy-wise. Hopefully it will pass. I've just been dozing for most of the afternoon - and apparently we're not fully cast since one of the people we thought we had can't be at the stumble-through and it's just too weird to have a main person missing for that.
-
Page three? Really?

Hmmm, this seems like a long while for it to hurt from the sauce. Does it burn? Maybe it is more than just the tomato.

Wow, does the person know their being in the show at all is at stake re their being out for the stumble-through?

Busy day today
-
It was a soup kitchen day.... Today's. Meal was meatloaf, oven lasted potatoes, green beans, gravy, salad, Garlic bread and assorted desserts
-
There was not a scrap left
-
Then off to church to set the altar for communion in the chapel and the main sanctuary
-
Then Vixdad and I went to panera for lunch
-
I quite enjoyed the chicken and wild rice soup and Fuji apple chicken salad
-
The we did something we haven't done for ages....dropped into the local Barnes and Noble and just browsed around
-
Then Vixdad and I went. Up to the church to support open mike night
-
it drew a small but fun crowd
-
Vixdad was not planning to attend but as she was there cleaning ( she is the weekend sexton) she was prevailed upon to give us a song.... The do just pulled up a karaoke Defying Gravity and she blew them all out of the water
-
Of course since we were not expecting her to sing we were niot prepared and didnothave the means to record it
-
Andnow we're home
-
Good evening!
-
Greetings from Tampa, Florida.
-
Tummy doesn't hurt, Jane, just nausea. I went to Gelson's and got some white rice and ate it. Safe.
-
Howdy, all.
-
It's been a crazy busy day.
-
Had a long dance thing called a team match today. It was supposed to be three hours, but it ran five.
-
Then I had to DJ a dance tonight.

In between, I found out that my friend and former co-worker Barbara had died this afternoon from pancreatic cancer. It was diagnosed only recently. I can only be thankful that she's out of pain.
-
I'm exhausted, but I'm too wound up to sleep, so I'm watching the Annie Get Your Gun at Encores with Megan Hilty and Andy Karl. They're both really good.

Wow, I didn't need to read that.
My condolences, John, on the loss of your friend.

TOD:
I'm a sucker for a book that can make me cry, and more than a few can. A few that come to mind are:
The Good Companions
Their Eyes Were Watching God
Anna Karenina
He Knew He Was Right
Home (Toni Morrison's)
Pere Goriot
My Home Is Far Away

Greetings from Tampa, Florida.
HI ☺
Hi, back at ya.
-
Tampa is a very nice city. This is my first time here.
-
It is almost two a.m.
-
I think I am very tired.
-
Yesterday, after I got home from the reading, I was mentally exhausted. I had some dinner, watched Act One of a Royal Opera production of Die Fledermaus, read a bit of Franco Zeffirelli's autobiography, and went to bed.
Today, my leg is not working so well as I would like.
~~~Leg Vibes for Larry!!~~~
-
Today was a day.
-
I got up a little earlier than I wanted, but eventually had to go to my sister's and help her (start to) move some beauty bark.
-
Larry her boyfriend was there and at one point he figured that it would take 150 wheel barrows to move all the beauty bark.
:P
-
So, we didn't get very much done. ::)
-
But we got it started.
-
After the beauty bark moving, I helped Larry mount his big flat screen to his living room wall.
-
He had alrwady attached the mounting holder to the wall.
-
He just needed help lifting the TV.
-
It wasn't too heavy, but one person couldn't do it alone.
-
After that, I went to the theater to run the sound and slides for the second of two evenings of readings of The Beat Generation.
-
We had selections from such authors as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Mickey Spiklane, Diana di Prima, William S. Burroughs, and Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
-
During the curtain speech, it was announced that one if the upcoming "Words," would be science fiction!
-
I really want to be part of that version.
