DR Jeanne, I have seen a couple of MR SELFRIDGE episodes, which I enjoyed, but I wasn;t a steady viewer. I thought DOWNTON ABBEY was pulling the same stunt in Season Six to wrap everything up nicely.

But I happen to really like "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean no one's out to get you."

Some sayings that intrigue me but puzzle me:
"Why do you always have to get the last word?" It puzzles me because anyone who says this line in an argument seems to want to get the last word himself or herself.
And "Why do you make everything about you?" I've never been clear why anyone would expect someone else not to take their own perspective (family, friends, favorite causes, etc) into account when they express an opinion.

The idea of a Disney Midsummer Night's Dream is not so hot OR original....poor Shakespeare....and poor audience....
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: No play or musical, no matter how well written it is, can survive a bone-headed director.....

1. There was no murder at the school musical yesterday, but I feel the possibility draws ever nearer with every rehearsal. Oh yes indeed. Hope does reign eternal, after all.
2. Gas is up to $2.11 at Costco/BJ's.

"Everything in moderation" makes the most sense to me, and something I try to live by.
I was in a meeting with some technical writers and they hated "growing the business" because it makes no sense grammatically.
When I was younger, I always thought "for all intents and purposes" was actually "for all intensive purposes" and that made no sense. I was happy to learn the correct saying.
When I was about 20, I used "apropos of nothing" to my then-fiancé and my then-roommate and they laughed and made fun of me because they said no such saying existed. Well, they ate their words years later when Cheryl Crow had her big hit and that phrase was in her song. By the way, I just looked up the word "apropo" to make sure I spelled it right and discovered it's actually "apropos" with an "s". Who would have thought? Isn't "who would have thought?" an interesting saying? Okay, now I'm just rambling. Who do I think I am, Bruce Kimmel?

Jrand65, I imagine you hate "I could care less" because what people actually mean is "I couldn't care less" and they just misspeak?
Also, people use the word "irregardless" when they really just mean "regardless".

I keep hearing folks say it as "miss-CHEE'-vee-us". No such thing. It's a THREE-syllable word.
It's "MISS'-chuh-vuss".

Another thing that drives me up the wall:
Someone writing that someone should "tow the line". Really? What line should they be towing? Where are they to take it? Did they somehow mean "toe" the line...in other words, is someone wanting another to shape up and be more accountable for himself or herself? Is it a phrase meaning, literally, put your toes on this line but don't you dare step over it?

Amy: Yes, they misspeak all the time. "I could care less" literally means they care somewhat but could care less about it...if???.
"I couldn't care less" means they have no concern about something whatsoever!

Then, we'll ALL go to Jan's for our book club discussion of Bee Wilson's Consider the Fork: A History of How We Cook and Eat.

DR Jane, the book isn't as boring as the title makes it sound. It's quite anecdotal and I like her writing. I'll let you know how the discussion goes.

I have survived a 5 1/2 tour of Bermuda!

I would have preferred half as long.

Our guide told us that Bermuda has more golf courses per capita, and more churches.

He showed us a few of the golf courses, but I believe he showed us every church on the island.

Or rather, the islands.

I was so tired, and my leg was so cramped from the close quarters in the van, that I didn't even bother to do any shopping.

So, I will be leaving Bermuda without an official pair of shorts, or even an onion.

Last night was a wild night on the high seas.

I thought it was rough before I went to bed, but it really got rocking after I turned in for the night.

The weather in Bermuda was mild, at best.

The temps were in the 60's, but there was a cold wind blowing which put a chill on the day

But it didn't rain, so I did okay without my coat.

There are some passengers who wear heavy coats inside the ship.

Maybe they are planning on going out on deck, or maybe they were just there; but they look silly in winter clothes.

Of course, they may be typing to their friends about the weird people walking around the ship in their t-shirts and jeans.

What gets me is when people way realitor, for realtor (my niece says it this way...I have tried to correct her). There've been a couple of TV shows with characters who are supposed to be realtors and the actors have said "realitor." You'd think that SOMEONE on the production would know that...but NO.

We took a nice 5 mile + walk around a lake today. A Bald Eagle flew slightly above us over the lake, parallel to us. It was an incredible sight and a perfect birthday gift for Keith.

I'm annoyed with myself as I left my fitbit at home and did not get credit for all my walking today ;D

For dinner Keith chose a Mexican restaurant we have not been to in a long while. Dinner was good as were the Cadillac Margarita's. As a birthday gift Keith was given a shot of tequila/Grand Marnier. Since Keith was driving he only had enough to show me how to such the lime and then slug the drink. I've always wanted to do that.

Today was the third day of a three-day training session. My brain is rather fried.

I've only camped out overnight for one concert: Prince.
It was worth it. He performed in Tampa in the late 1990s with George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic as his opening act.
I wasn't a rabid fan, but he always impressed me with trying something new. Cream, I think, was my favorite of his songs with 1999 being his best dance tune.

Hello. Worked from 7 to 8 today. But got done what needed to be done and left notes on pikes of files ....I hope to come in Monday to see the piles gone and the tasks on the notes completed

Then I ran over to BJ's to pickup the cold cut platter, sushi platter,vegetable platter, brownie platter, cookie platter, croissants, salad, fruit, paper and plastic goods , soda and water

Meanwhile the Vixter went to my moms and collected the box if photos mom and I framed over the past couple of nights

Then we met at church and set up tables and chairs in the community room, put on the tablecloths, arranged Dads photos on the photo table, put all the perishables in the refrigerator

Then we went over to the sanctuary and set up the flowers and communion
-
Vixdad joined us and helped us set everything up. Then he headed home
-
The Vixter and I worked our way back to the the wing, turning out lights and locking doors
-
When we got to the last room I realized I had left my keys in the prep room behind the altar
-
The Vixter didn't have her church keys with her. So we picked in her car and since we had neither of us eaten, we drip ove through Burger King for a quick meal

Then she drive us home , she grabbed her church keys and we headed back to church to retrieve my keys and car

I didn't get a salad tonight - just ate some licorice and crap and I'm kind of hungry but obviously don't really want to eat too much - so, should I go get some soup from Jerry's? Or just tough it out and wait until tomorrow? It's a long rehearsal day tomorrow and I have to be up at eight so I can shave and stuff and leave by nine.
