Well, you've read the notes, the notes were notes to notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows to cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TRANCHE!
-
And a happy haineshisway.com birthday to not very often dear reader Danise.
-
First post after BK!
-
A Very Happy Birthday to (former?) DR Danise!
-
Happy Birthday to DR Danise!
-
I tried to apologize for not being here all day, but the page was locked before I could explain.
-
Anyway, I am sorry for the low post total.
-
I thought I would be home earlier.
-
Tonight I attended a performance of NOISES OFF.
-
~~~Excellent Vibes and Xylophones for BK's Throat to Not Be Sore when He Arises!!~~~
-
For the most part, the cast was very good.
-
Tonight I attended a performance of NOISES OFF.
How was it?
-
I believe that George knows Jim Rogers.
-
But with the scene changes and the two intermissions; it makes for a long evening.
-
I believe that George knows Jim Rogers.
That name does not sound familar. :-\
-
I understand how exhausting the show can be for the actors, but that is hardly an excuse for letting the two Ten Minute Intermissions to drag into twenty minutes each.
-
BK, I like your set and the projections. I wish I could see it.
-
Oh sorry. His credits included CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL. I guess I just assumed it was the same production that you did.
-
Yup.
-
Oh sorry. His credits included CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL. I guess I just assumed it was the same production that you did.
It's not a frequently performed show so it was a safe assumption, but he wasn't in either production that I did.
-
Anyway, a very long, but laugh-filled evening of theater
-
Anyway, a very long, but laugh-filled evening of theater
Good!
-
Yes. He just said that he was Shannon Bell in CANNIBAL, but he didn't give any indication of when or where he did the show.
Next Saturday, l will be a presenter at the Lakewood Playhouse's 50 Year Celebration and Roast of their Artistic Director in honor of his 50th Birthday.
-
They have ten presenters, each doing between three and five minutes about their segment of five years.
Next Saturday, l will be a presenter at the Lakewood Playhouse's 50 Year Celebration and Roast of their Artistic Director in honor of his 50th Birthday.
That sounds like fun!
In addition, we are supposed to talk about what Lakewood Playhouse means to us.
So, what does Lakewood Playhouse mean to you?
Well, since we're so lose...
George are you still up?
-
Everyone should be asleep .
-
Now it's time to say goodbye to all our families.
Bette Davis to Joan Crawford in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane.
But you are Tranche! You are in that chair!
-
Why? Because we like you.
-
Good night!
-
Good morning, all.
First post in the REAL morning.
-
One vaguely interesting but not cohesive dream about accompanying some gal and perhaps some guy in some song.
-
I have to throw some things together soon and hit the road. Staying in Morgantown WV tonight and seeing a distant but close (if that makes any sense) branch of the family tomorrow.
-
The photo of those projections is mouth-watering, BK.
VIBES AND XYLOS for no sore throat, and for a productive day.
That actor: Oy!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I have a day at Chelsea Music Service today, preparing for a Tuesday recording.
-
If I had my druthers, I'd druther stay home, sleep late, and do as little as possible.
-
Replace the actor. What's his problem?
-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Healthy Vibes to BK! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Yesterday was a long day. Those orchestra parts for DO I HEAR A WALTZ are a mess, and several numbers still need some work. The new things Joshie and i redid played well, and that made us happy. The sitzprobe began at 2:30, and Rob, orchestra, and cast worked through the numbers.
Much of it sounds really good, although I'm still of the opinion that Ralph Burns, a wonderful big band arranger, was still learning how to write for strings. I don't think he was very good with them.
-
I think the cast is going to be quite fine. Tenor Richard Troxell, who sang at City Opera and plays Pinkerton in a wonderful 1995 film of Madame Butterfly, is really wonderful, He and Melissa Errico play well off each other. I love Nancy Opel, so it was great to see her yesterday.
-
I need more coffee.
-
And a nap.
-
Happy birthday to Danise!!!
-
Particularly evocative photo in the notes!
-
I was thinking DIAL M FOR MURDER and NO WAY OUT for the TOD - but is it a paranoid thriller if the threat is real, at least in the script?
-
Wellness vibes for BK!
-
Are we really at page 3 before 9 a.m. EST?
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday, DR Danise !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Good morning!
-
Happy Birthday, Danise!
-
TOD:
Not quite what you mean by "paranoid thriller".
-
Happy Birthday DR DANISE!
-
Lovely photo in the notes. I will be interested to hear the outcome of the actor's dilemma. Of course he should be dropped. Why should he be associated with what is going to be a wonderful successful show when he hasn't done the work?
-

Every time I see a headline about the wildfire in Canada....I think it's a story about Fred MacMurray.
-
Today I don't have to do anything.....tomorrow, I will work on the choreography of the songs "Five Forever" which we will do Wednesday night....with the recording.....
-
My Uncle Bob did pass away yesterday. He had a long and productive life. He was married for many years to my Aunt Jan who passed away last year. They had three children. I don't know what the plans are....but there will be a memorial of some kind for BOTH of them in the next couple of weeks.
He was one of my mother's brothers. There are now three children left....two girls and a boy. Three of eight..... :'(
-
George are you still up?
What am I? Chopped liver?
I only saw my name and George'so up top.
-
Every time I see a headline about the wildfire in Canada....I think it's a story about Fred MacMurray.
I remember reading the ending of the movie, during the big fire scene was changed because that was the reaction the actresses had while filming it.
-
DR Jrand, my condolences to you and your family.

Condolences to DR Jrand.

Saturday
morning afternoon greetings! I turned on my computer a while ago, but got involved in printing some certificates of appreciation for Monday night's AAUW meeting and that took longer than it should have. My printer was not cooperating, but I finally convinced it to do what I wanted and here I am.
-
DR JRand, my sympathies to you and your family...
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Danise!
-
Thank you DR JANE, DR KEVINH, DR GINNY, and DR FJL, he had just been moved to a full time care facility last week, so it was not unexpected.
-
Yes, Parallax View is the poster child of the paranoid thriller, as is Manchurian Candidate.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep - I could probably have slept for eleven but I'll take the nine. Throat soreness seems to be gone.

A lull. ::)
-
I've been watching some programs recorded on my DVR.
-
Now, I have to get ready to go to my sister's house.
-
And since we're so close...
-
4OUR!
-
The family is getting together for my birthday. :D
-
I'm bringing some Fresca and diet Sqirt...
-
They are my new(ly rediscovered) favorite drinks...ever since Pepsi changed their diet Pepsi recipe.
:P
-
I'll go to the theater directly from my sister's house.
-
And one of the actors has invited everyone to his house after tonight's show for a party!
-
That'll be fun...and a very late night!
-
Well, I need to be going now.
-
Have a good day, all!
-
But before I go...
-
Gratuitous post #100!
-
Until later!

Thanks DR GEORGE.
Have fun at your delayed Birthday Party AND at the Post Theatre Party.
The Parallax View is On Demand on one of the cable services this month. I think everyone does such a good job, but especially of course Warren Beatty and Paula Prentiss in a small role - she really gets the ball rolling.
I've always liked her in just about everything.

Hello, everyone.

My condolences to JRand and family on the loss of Uncle Bob.

TCB, I'm glad to see you are safely home. I hope the trip was smooth and uneventful.
-
I just woke up from a much-needed nap and am still groggy. Must degroggify.

We had a few drops of rain this morning, and yesterday, too. It's such an event! People say, "It sprinkled this morning!" They are astonished.

I have no news.

And I am going to bed!

This afternoon we had a video chat with our "lost" friend. He has been busy since we last saw him, two more wives and two more sons ;D He is doing well and happy. He was in our wedding and Keith was his best man. It is a shame we lost contact and couldn't find each other all these years.
-
Condolences, DR Jrand65.

TEN HOURS?!
I hope there's a paycheck involved in that, DR Elmore.
-
DR Jrand65, I've got those 1776 programs scanned, along with another thing that might lend itself to the display. However, my printer has started putting out some crappy results. I'll tend to that when I get back, then get those things off to you.

DR George, who does not look 50, enjoy your family celebration.

Hi all ! Thank you so very much for all of the wonderful Birthday wishes! Not a very exciting day. Started with my shorts on backwards, did the usual grocery shopping, had my hairs cut and stopped off and got some wings to go. I shouldn't eat that kind of food. Got home, put said groceries away, ate my wings and fell sound asleep in my chair. Woke up around nine.
Was going to have an adult beverage--which (since I don't drink) is always a special occasion but now I feel like the heck with it. It's to late. And that was my day. :).
-
Hi, Danise! Good to see you here!
-
Nice to see you too!
-
I see that I'm going to have to update my photo. I don't look anything like that now.
-
Condolences to DR Jrand.
-
Thank you DR JEANNE, DR DANISE, DR ELMORE, and DR CHAS SMITH. Most appreciated.
-
The show is not until August DR CHAS SMITH, so there is no rush or hurry at all.
-
Back from a difficult and kind of annoying day, and then a sandwich.
-
Our house is open and we have 19 presold! :D
-
Today I passed both Middletown and Greencastle.
-
They were not the right ones.
-
So I kept on rolling along.
-
A friend that I haven't seen in a couple of years is here! I got to chat with her for a moment. :)
-
And now, we're at places!
-
The problem actor is gone - thankfully it was an easy go and he brought it on himself totally. While we were running act one, a little plastic bag fell out of his pants pocket. It was eventually picked up and given to the stage manager. It contained a small amount of white powder and from that you can draw your own conclusions. You cannot bring an illegal substance on the campus of a community college and he's lucky the police weren't called. So, the stage manager came to me and told me, and I told her to can him on the grounds that there is no discussion when things like that happen on a campus. He then came to me and swore the packet wasn't his - that he borrowed the shorts he was wearing from a friend and that it belonged to said friend. Do I believe that? Not on your tintype. Why? Because the little plastic packet pretty much explains everything that's been going on. Good riddance. I reassigned things for act two and on we went.
-
The lighting has been a constant irritation for a few of the actors - because we're in a small space and the stage is at the angle it is the spot and the moving lights are closer to them than usual and they're blindingly bright at times, so we've been trying to make that easier on the actors who are having problems, but without making things to dim in a musical comedy. Funnily, Robert Yacko, who is in the exact same bright lights, never has a problem with it - and when I went up to see how it was like, I didn't either. But you have to adjust because you can't expect an actor to give a great performance if they're blinded or annoyed by lights.
-
More about the run-through in the notes.
-
Wow. Good riddance, indeed. Amazing!
-
Not on your tintype.
Friend's shorts, my old lady's corset cover.

Thank you, Jeanne. I would say it was for the most part a very smooth trip.

Y condolences to Jack and to his family in their loss

Good evening, all.
-
Happy birthday, Danise. Nice to see you back with us for a while.
-
My sympathies, JRand.
-
Good call, BK. It somehow reminds me of the publisher I worked for in upstate New York. He would come out of the bathroom with white powder under his nose and talk about those powdered doughnuts. Yeah, right.
-
Well, we had a party in honor of Glenn today with his wife of 63 years, his son and one daughter, plus several granddaughters and one great-granddaughter in attendance. Very nice.
-
I had been asked to provide the background music, which included a CD of their favorite songs that a friend and I had put together back when Mickey and Glenn had their 50th anniversary. So, I loaded up an old-fashioned boom box with six CDs, including that one.
I hit shuffle on the discs and the very first song to play was Ella singing "Always," which was Glenn and Mickey's wedding song.
He was there all right.

Finding Neverland is closing. Does anybody care?

All alone.

Happy Mother's Day!

Well, it is already Sunday for most of the country.

Hard to believe that one week ago, my ship was docked in Copenhagen and I was getting ready to disembark.
-
Life does fly by, doesn't it?
-
I received my copy of Van Johnson's THE MUSIC MAN. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.
-
I probably wouldn't have bought this CD if I hadn't seen Mr. Johnson on Broadway in LA CAGE. Even then, I was impressed by his performance.
-
Together, he and George Hearn, were quite wonderful.
