Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a man bun, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they currently have a MOOn bun.
-
And the word of the day is: OENOMEL!
-
First post after BK!
-
It's post after TCB
-
I am off to work.

Happy Day to All

good morning to all

Good morning, all!

Unless a play has been retought/reimagined for film many of the plays into films have not worked for me. The following are only original productions of the plays that I have seen that were made into films.
Amadeus: Same story but completely rethought for the film. If memory serves the play only has three speaking characters.
Torch Song Trilogy: Shorten for the film. Too bad Estelle Getty didn't get to do the film. Act 1 & 2 were reimagined for the film as they were more "Theatrical in nature"
These two plays are one set and almost worked, but failed as film.
Deathtrap (really hated the changed ending of the story). Wasn't crazy about the casting of all the roles.
Noises Off. Could really capture or achieve the frenetic pacing of act two and watching a play within a play didn't work on film.
-
I set the alarm for 7:00, but I reset it for 8:00 and went back to bed. Around 7:45, I decided to get moving. I'll go intro City Center, see if there are any emergency fixes I can help Joshie accomplish. If there's nothing to do, I'll head back home.
-
I think "Arsenic and Old Lace" is a pretty good match, even including some of the original cast in the film.
"The Man Who Came To Dinner"
"Cyrano de Bergerac," with Depardieu
PBS showed "The Philadelphia Story," with Hepburn, Grant, and Stewart. I like both it and "Holiday," but I've never seen either play on stage.
-
I thought the film of "Amadeus" was nothing like the play I saw on Broadway with Ian MacKellan, which had a large cast. I liked the film better.
-
I, too, saw VIRGINA WOOLF at the Biltmore w/Nancy Kelly and Shepard Strudwick.
Indeed, I think I saw it within the first few weeks after I moved to Los Angeles, which was the first week of November of 1963.
Terrific production, but the recording was better.

TOD:
THE ODD COUPLE
THE DESPERATE HOURS
THE MIRACLE WORKER
THE SUNSHINE BOYS
THE MUSIC MAN
MY FAIR LADY
-
Good morning, all.
-
I got to know Ken Kercheval years later when he did the DALLAS TV series. Nice guy.
I was representing Steve Kanaly during that period.
-
Must leave right away to get on with some family stuff.
I like the TOD and look forward to people's answers.
Agree with BK that there is something "off" about the Virginia Woolf movie in spite of its general greatness. And yes, perhaps the "tenor" of the score contributes to that. I'm going to work on that when I get back home and watch it.
-
Good Monday vibes to all!

TOD:
The Women
The Philadelphia Story
The Pirates of Penzance
His Girl Friday
Pygmalion

The Man Who Came to Dinner surprised me. After laughing throughout the play Keith rented the movie. I tried to prepare him but failed. Close to halfway through the movie he sadly commented we weren't laughing much and turned it off.

Good morning.

I love man buns. Because no matter how awful I look after hiking in the mountains, at least I don't have a man bun.

The best thing about the movie is Jimmy Durante.

Dress rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.

TOD:
Barefoot in the Park and The Odd Couple - I like both plays and both movies.
Desk Set the movie was SO different from the play Desk Set that it's like two different stories, but I like them both.
I don't think Noises Off worked on the screen either, but I did laugh a bit at some of the antics.
-
TOD:
I don't know that I've ever seen a play that I saw later as a movie. But there's two movies I can think of that are basically filmed plays that I enjoyed very much:
Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean
A Case of Libel
-
TOD revised:
Oh wait! I just thought of one. I saw "Twelve Angry Men" first as a play and then a movie. I thought the movie was well-done.
-
Monday morning greetings! Cool and dreary here in SW Ohio today, which allowed me to sleep until after 8:30am - a sleep-in for me. Puttering around the house until it's time to go to the AAUW end-of-year dinner at a nearby church.
-
Yes it's good sleeping weather DR GINNY. And it's supposed to be like this all week.

What it's NOT good for is unloading a dresser at the AAUW garage sale venue, but it has to be done. It's taking up all but the driver's seat in my car. We really don't want to unload it more than once.
-
Joshie had some work, which I did for him, and now the orchestra parts are on the stands and waiting for the players.
My left knee is killing me and I cannot stand comfortably on it this morning.
-
Good Morning!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Sunday and Mother's Day
-
Today is a "local holiday" so there's no school. So, it's a sorta slow day around here, but still things to accomplish.
-
I've been binging on "Gilmore Girls" for 3 weeks now. I started season 6 last night. It's a wonderfully written show and well acted, but frankly, it seems as if things may be slowing down? I don't know....

I love man buns. Because no matter how awful I look after hiking in the mountains, at least I don't have a man bun.

Did you see the play or the film? I saw the play, which I thought was dreadful: every character had to have their revelatory moment so the last act was a lot of cheap desperate scenes of over-emoting, Sandy Dennis was her usual bag of ticks and tricks, Cher had no idea of what acting was since you can't piece together a live performance, but i did like Sudie Bond and Kathy Bates.
I couldn't wait to get out of the theatre. I forget which theatre it was now. The Martin Beck, maybe?

I saw a couple of community theater productions of it, then the movie.

I just got an e-mail for my work's PayPal account that says:
We’re revising Section 13.5 and will be requiring all buyers to wait at least 7 days to escalate a dispute to a claim regardless of the transaction amount.
BK, I'm sure that that'll help reduce the unwarranted PayPal disputes...hopefully.

93, not bad. He was married either 67, or 66 years-not bad either. I'm not sure which because this article says his wife passed away last year but other places show them still married.

RIP William Schallert (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/10/arts/television/william-schallert-father-on-the-patty-duke-show-dies-at-93.html?_r=0)

I started to say that's pretty amazing for a Hollywood marriage, but then I realized it's pretty amazing for ANY marriage!
-
That is great for any marriage.

Back from an omelet and a bagel - director Joel Zwick in the booth in front of me, comedian Richard Lewis in the booth next to me.

I shall shortly be on my way to LACC for our first dress rehearsal.

Here's a how-de-do: my email, and phone are dead. I called Time warner and their phone number is dead. I went to their website. It's not loading in. I can't even call to complain.

Yes. I can't remember who the elderly couple were that replied, when asked what the secret to a long marriage is, that the secret is to live a long time-or something like that.
If Keith and I both live until he is 90, plus a couple of months, we will have been married for 70 years.

Interesting that he outlived his TV daughter, Patty Duke, by a few weeks.

Topic of the Day:
1776
Little Shop of Horrors (with the original ending that was recently released on Blu-ray)
The Sound of Music
Those are the shows that I can remember seeing both the stage versions and the subsequent movie versions.
-
DR Ginny, your book arrived today. Thanks!
-
I recall enjoying Willliam Schallert's performance in 70 GIRLS 70 at the El Portal Theatre. I think that was in 2002.
-
Sad to hear about his passing, and amazed to be reminded of all that he did. He was always a pleasure to see, and he added character to any show or movie.

Page 3 at 7:54 pm EDT?

I think I read that as of Saturday we had 17 days in a row with rain. I don't think there was any yesterday, but it was back today.
-
That is too much rain!
-
Watching The Judy Garland Show with guest Mickey Rooney on "Get TV."
-
Well, I need to leave work now and go home.
-
Tonight is my condo's annual HOA meeting.
-
Since it's only once a year, I feel that I should be there, so I will. :)
-
Until later!
-
That is too much rain!
I guess we need it, but it would be nice to see the sun a little more. Yesterday was a beautiful day, if a little windy.
-

You're welcome - enjoy!

We need to watch THE GOODWIFE tonight before I accidentally read spoilers.

AAUW Middletown's end-of-year banquet was fine :-X

I hate theatre cliques.... or cliques in general. But I like our HHW clique

Don't get me started, DR Jane...
-
Sorry.
-
DR DRUXY did Nancy Kelly do any of her Bad Seed schtick as Martha?
It was over 50 years ago. I do recall that she was excellent and that Strudwick was a bit mannered.
-
Jane Eyre has arrived. I think she'll be sleeping with the dead girl tonight.
-
Watching a noir called Whirlpool with Gene Tierney and Jose Ferrer. Nice start.
-
Well, tomorrow I go to visit the new office space where I'll be spending a good portion of my work time in the future (when I'm not working from home). It's exciting. I'm nervous, because I don't know all of what I'll be doing, but I'm glad I'm going to be working with two exceptionally good people. For the near future, it looks like an extra load on the work plate, but money has been approved for a decent expansion of our team.
-
Hello, 3 guests.
-
My name is John. What's yours?
-
Whirlpool is proving to be a lot of fun. Otto Preminger adds his layer of melodrama to the proceedings, but it's all for the good in a cat-and-mouse game.
-
Gratuitous Post No. 100!
-
Page four. Really?
-
Really?
-
I guess so.
-
Got a ticket for Savion Glover and Jack DeJohnette. Should be a great evening of music and dance.
-
Good evening!
-
Page 4? Really?
-
Hello, 3 Guests.
-
What are your favorite desserts?
-
Oh, sorry, I didn't know you were in Weight Watchers.
-
What's your favorite green salad?
-
I love a good salad.
-
Today I had lunch with my sister and brother-in-law.
-
But I didn't have a salad.
-
Instead I had beef stroganoff.
-
The serving at this place is about the size of a soup tureen.
-
It is very good.
-
But it really isn't taste like stroganoff.
-
It is more like beef and noodles in gravy.
-
I realize that is what stroganoff is, but it just doesn't have enough sour cream in it to make taste like stroganoff.
-
5ive!
-
It is still very good and I certainly didn't need to worry about making dinner.
-
I wouldn't have ordered it, but I thought I was buying lunch today.
-
Surprise! My sister was buying because I brought her a sweatshirt from the Copenhagen's Hard Rock Café.
-
Maybe I should have told her that the price tag was actually in Kroners, not dollars.
-
On second thought, why bother to tell her.
-
The weather is warming up again.
-
It was about 70 degrees today, but by Wednesday it is going to be back in the 80's.
-
An unusually nice Spring.
-
Of course, they are calling on rain for the weekend.
-
Not that I care. Week days and weekends are all the same to me.
-
I lost my 3 Guests.
-
Now come on, who doesn't love a good beef stroganoff story?
-
Apparently those three don't care for it.
-
Maybe it was the way I tell it that is the problem.
-
They should hear my pot roast story.
-
T.O.D.
I love the play THE DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS, but I think the movie is better than the play.
-
Part of it is the cast of the film is so perfect. Robert Preston, Dorothy McGuire, Angela Lansbury, Shirley Knight, Eve Arden, Robert Eyer, Penny Parker, and Lee Kinsolving.
A truly wonderful film.
-
I think I am rambling.
-
But a post is a post.
-
#140
-
I think I am finally getting over the jet lag.
-
I still got up at six o'clock, but I didn't fall asleep during WHEEL OF FORTUNE tonight.
-
I am craving a piece of peanut butter pie or chocolate cream pie.
-
I would settle for a bowl of honeydew melon.
-
Unfortunately, I don't have any of the above.
-
I don't even have a jar of peanut butter in the house.
-
Aw well, I will survive without any sweets.
-
Ah-ha! I still had a box of Girl Scout Cookies. They were Tagalongs, so I got my peanut butter fix.
-
One more post.
-
Six!
-
Well, look, I have company.
-
Vixmom, I hope you aren't just getting home from work.
-
Matthew, good to have you back.
-
I love man buns. Because no matter how awful I look after hiking in the mountains, at least I don't have a man bun.
I didn't realize Laura was talking about hair.

I guess Matthew didn't like my stroganoff story either.
-
I need to switch computers......

Back from our first dress rehearsal, about which more in the notes.

It's been a long time since I've listened to it, also.
