Well, you've read the notes, the notes opened, and now it is time for you to post until the opened cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VENERATE!
-
Good morning to all
-
Glad to hear the opening went well except for th hiccup
-
TOD
The opening night performance of Sunday In The Park With George (Original Broadway Production) with tickets given by Mr Sondheim.
-
Where are the West Coasters?
-
HA! Good news about the opening - except for the beginning glitch. I am surprised the projectors were NOT already on the to check list....
-
Matinee vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
Great to hear the opening went so well!
-
TOD:
Hmmmmm......I have not been to many Opening Nights other than my own.
I guess I most enjoyed JOSEPH & THE TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT in 1993. I had purchased a copy of the London Cast CD that had just been released - the one with Jason Donovan. It was the first time I had heard the Mega-Mix, which I thought was very funny.....
It wasn't yet included in the materials, so I asked Debby (who is playing Marmee now) to see if she couldn't assemble it for us, which she did. The audience went wild for it. It was also the first time we used the turntable for scene changes, so that was something else that they applauded and carried on about.
The director of Carousel had built....a carousel....so I just added a frame to it, and asked the set designer to paint some lively backdrops.....we had a great camel, a nice cactus.....and we used the NOW familiar logo on the opening backdrop.
The whole thing was quite nice....although nothing we did then hasn't been done hundreds of times since....at least.
-
TOD, other than anything Skip and/or I had written: Most memorable opening night of a play was M. BUTTERFLY, when the theater was genuinely all abuzz, most memorable opening night of a musical was PASSION, which was just a fabulous night all around.
-
Most memorable opening night of a movie will likely always be THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL's first evening showing in New York City at the 68th Street Playhouse. I think it had played several times during the day, but there was a real excitement to that first post-6 pm showing, at least for those of us who were thrilled to have gotten in.
-
Good morning, all! My left leg worsens. It worries and frightens me,
-
I need to call Rob Berman. If his parents are intown for Encores!, then i will go to City center and see them. If not, I will stay here, tidy a bit, see if Heller can get this DVD player up and running, and take him to dinner to thank him.
-
I remember one strange dream about shopping with dead teachers and a lot of high school friends in a supermarket/
-
Bravo! knew the review would be a success. I'm sorry that there were projector problems.
-
Best opening night party: October, 2009, Finian's Rainbow. Thank you, Rob Berman and Joshie!
-
Good morning!
-
Health vibes for DR elmore.
-
Congrats on the success of the show, BK!
-
TOD: I've never been to an opening night.
-
Good morning, all.
-
As far as Rob knows, his parents are coming in, so I will head to City Center around 1:00, catch the matinee and feedback, see his parents, and come home. I'll ask Heller to show up around 6:15 or so.
-
Sorry about projector problems, but wonderful to hear about the great opening.
When doing Avenue Q a couple of years ago, our pre-show warm-ups centered around the projections. Our tech lady worked those things like a sumbitch every single show, following a minor mishap very early in the run. It was very very minor, but you learn quickly to take that very seriously.
-
Looking forward to tomorrow evening at Encores!, when I just might be running into DR Elmore whose dance card is already quite full. Listening to a lot of Waltz today.
-
My one dream, and it was a rather hugely annoying one, was an abstraction (impossible to describe) utilizing one of the main melodies from Ragtime. I'd been at a neighbor's cocktail par-tay yesterday evening, and they were playing the cast album - which was great to hear, but the damned music came home with me. Happy to be up and out of the dream.
-
Leg vibes for DR Elmore!
-
Saturday used to be a work day - oh well.
This morning I am watching Lassie......
-
I guess I'm very slow, or I never really thought about it before, but:
I just discovered the inspiration for "Guy Haines".
;D
-
Can we get to page 2 before noon?
-
Page 2!!!
-
I'm up, I'm up - barely. Maybe five hours, but I managed not to throw up, so that's good.
-
We are having company for lunch. Liam is very excited by the prospect of food falling on the floor.
-
I managed not to throw up, so that's good.
This is what happens when Patrick Bronstein logs in as BK.
-
Saturday afternoon greetings! Richard and I took another load of stuff to the AAUW garage sale venue and then went to Cracker Barrel for brunch. Home for an hour or so before I have to pick up Katie for the 4th annual Women's Wine and Chocolate Walk in downtown Middletown.
-
She of the Evil Eye is here. Tummy is really wacky, so may just go and have some ginger ale and white plain toast.
-
And wouldn't even have that if I didn't have to kill so much time.
-

;D
-
Congratulations Bruce!
-
LEG VIBES FOR DR ELMORE!
-
Break more legs!
-
Congrats BK on the successful opening night (except for the projector problem)!!
-
Good Morning
-
I'm pretty much done with eating after 10:00pm. Nausea in the morning is no fun.
-
TOD: There have certainly been a lot of Opening Nights. None of which are that memorable.
-
The program that TAO uses for sound is what is also used for projections. I have to go through the whole audio/video sequence before the house opens because we've had projection problems in the past. The worst was a couple of years ago when one of the projections was a video clip that we think was too large (we never could figure out exactly what was the problem). I had to make sure that it was tested every night, otherwise it might (but not always) totally freeze the whole program and I would have to close it and restart it. Not fun during a show.
-
Good morning, all! My left leg worsens. It worries and frightens me,

The only opening nights that I've been have been my own, or of other local projects...and none has been that memorable. :-\

I have on,y been at opening nights of shows I have been involved in...nothing memorable
-
Leg vibes for elmore
-
Well, I have some errands to run, so off I must run.
Be back later.
-
Back from stuff - I had a ginger ale and a toasted bagel plain - that seemed okay.
-
I don't know if I said that the Jane Eyre CD arrived while I was out of town, but it's a beauty. Love the full bodied sound and all of those fantastic cues.
I was hoping I had a PDF copy of Herrmann's score, since so much of his work is available on the World Wide Web. Alas, nothing.
-
I shall now be on my way to LACC for our matinee and evening performance.
-
Have a very good day!
-
Feel better and Two Show Day vibes for MR BK & Co.

Well, I have some errands to run, so off I must run.

Errands have been run and I'm back home for some TV watching, DVD burning, and laundry washing...all at the same time, too!
-
Back from the Women's Wine and Chocolate Walk in downtown Middletown. Visited 17 of the 20 official venues, plus one unofficial venue. The weather is cold and blustery, which detracted somewhat from the fun. Katie and I met up with Jackie, who was by herself and glad to find some companions. When Katie had to leave at 3:30, Jackie and I went to one more stop together. We were then back to where our cars were parked, so we parted ways and I stopped at a couple of the more remote locations on my drive home. Lots of development going on in our downtown!
-
Well, since we're so close...
-
PAGE THREE DANCE!!
-
I am home from City Center and waiting for Heller.
-
The show ran really well, and the talkback was fun. It was wonderful to see Rob's parents.
-
Melissa Errico is wonderful in the show, but she's too strange for me.
-
DR Ginny your day sounds lovely, except for the weather.
-
DR Ginny your day sounds lovely, except for the weather.
Yes, and yes.

TOD:
I believe I've only been to one opening night and that was for "Wicked" at the Pantageous in L.A. We saw a few celebs there during intermission. The ones I remember were Diane Keaton and Lawrence Fishburn.
-
Former DR Laura II was married today. :)
-
TOD - in the fall of my senior year, the University of Michigan opened the Power Center for the Performing Arts with the pre-Broadway run of THE GRASS HARP. My friend Doug asked if I wanted an OK seat for the opening night gala or a good seat for some other night. I picked the opening night and rubbed shoulders in the lobby with such luminaries as Helen Hayes, James Earl Jones, and Truman Capote. Our seats were fine, but the show didn't last long in New York.
-
That is a memorable evening :)
-
It was indeed, DR Jane! I wish I still had the dress I wore and the figure to wear it...
-
Do you have a photo to share?
-
Alas, no photos, DR Jane...
-
Sorry.
-
Yes DR GINNY. I had to put on a long-sleeved shirt today, and I never left the house.
-
Heller is a genius! I have a DVD player in working order, I've had a lovely dinner with him, and i am home. what to watch?

DR Vixmom, we'll be in Orlando for ALA June 22-29. Will we overlap or will we just miss each other?
-

Gratuitous Post #100!!

I hope that BK's show is going well.
-
I also hope that TCB's event is going well.

:)
-
Good evening!
-
I am home from the Lakewood Playhouse building's birthday.
-
The theater company is 78 years old, but the building itself is just 50 years old.
-
The first half of the event was an overview of the theater and it's history.
-
Each presenter had a five year period to cover; and no more than 5 minutes
-
The first half was expected to last 45 minutes. I knew that wouldn't happen.
-
And we're done!
-
The first half was expected to last 45 minutes. I knew that wouldn't happen.
How long did it go?
-
Not when you had the first Artistic Director (who flew in from Chicago, just for the event)
-
And not when you had my friend Sharry talking
-

Very good indeed.

Well, I'm now off to our cast party. It'll be at the director's house, so everyone knows how to get there.
Be back later. ;D
-
And since we're so close...
I did it!
-
I hope DR Ginny and DR Vixmom will be able to connect in Orlando.
-
The first act ran 1hour and 45 minutes....... just slightly longer BY ONE HOUR!!
-
I did not stay for the second act (The Roast of the Artistic Director).
-
Kevin saw SHE LOVES ME didn't he?
-
Any other east coasters see it?
-
On the show's web site it says the show is recommended for ages 13 and up. Why in the hell would you limit it to 13 and up. It is such a sweet, innocent, and loving valentine. Are they doing the show in the nude?
-
I wonder if there is any chance that they will extend the show past July 10.
-
That is the same closing date as Brent's LA CAGE.
-
That would be a great weekend double header.
-
Zachary Levi in SHE LOVES ME and Brent Barrett in LA CAGE!
-
Maybe I need to win the Lotto.
-
Well, I should change computers.
-
I did not stay for the second act (The Roast of the Artistic Director).
You did not want to participate in the roast. Was it personal or just that you planned to leave early?
-
Since I am dozing off on this one, the iPad should knock me out for the night.
-
I am really tired tonight.

I don't care for roasts, except pot roasts.
-
Sure, now I am wide awake.
-
Well, wide awake for 12:30am.
-
I was listening to the Van Johnson's MUSIC MAN on the way to the theater tonight. I think I enjoyed it. I will have to listen a couple more times
-
Greetings, 1 Guest!
-
Isn't it past your bedtime?
-
Well, what the heck.
-
I don't believe BK is home yet.
-
Might as well change pages.
-
SIX!
-
I hope both performances went well today.
-
It seems a shame that this show only runs for two weeks
-
Back from our two-show day - more in the notes.
-
Especially considering all the talent who have contributed to the show.
-
And since we're so close...
I did it!
Yes you did, Jane.
:)
-
I'm home.
-
The first act ran 1hour and 45 minutes....... just slightly longer BY ONE HOUR!!
Yikes! :o

Pug made some nachos, which were pretty good. Someone bought some all-natural peanut butter cookies that were really good. That's all that I had. There was also some potato chips and some popcorn.
-
During the eating, there was a lot of conversing going on. That was fun.
-
I saw Christian tonight.
