Well, you've read the notes, the notes did not go off, and now it is time for you to post until the alarmed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PANJANDRUM!
-
First post after BK!
-
T.O.D.
ASK BK DAY
After such a successful opening (and such a rave review) are you planning on opening this show in a new venue?
-
After watching "Deadpool" last night (which was good), I sort of fell asleep..more of a bedtime nap, really. But now I have to actually go to sleep. In the morning at work, we have to watch some industrial safety videos, or something like that, so I need to get there earlier than my usual time. After that, I have some invoicing that MUST be finished, so that I can prepare the monthly report for the business office, so that they can write the checks to our vendors.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning to all
-
Off to work... The days fly by
-
Have a good day all
-
Sorry that I got my Levins mixed up yesterday.
I guess that all Levins are not the same.
::)
-
Question for BK (the same one that I asked yesterday):
When are you planning to record the score for the new musical?
Anxious to hear it.
-
Act Two rehearsal was fine - and I got ALL of the photos that I possibly could. I won't be able to get the full band until they show up, but I can start working on the slides for the cast and MOST of the staff.
LOX.....I had to look that up....sounds good.
-
Good morning, all! I got to sleep late, despite my good intentions.
-
Around 9:30 I turned off the lights, settled down, was nearly asleep when the phone rang.
-
It was Susanna Moross, who apologized and said she'd call me tomorrow. I couldn't get settled back to sleep before 11:00 or so, so I slept in again today.
-
Today I begin edits on the new Guys and Dolls edition, andI need to finish up the new Provencal Carols score from Peter Foley. Tonight I have to attend a reception for the Miami University Library at Lincoln Center.
-
That's my day. I need more coffee.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Coffee!
And with this talk about lox and bagels, I really want some. And I want it fully stacked with onion and all, like I used to get it at places like Factor's on Pico.
-
That sounds like a pretty good day, DR Elmore.
-
Around here, though (this is the lox and bagel again), I'd buy the goods at the store and build it myself at home, seeing as how my little burg has no real deli to speak of.
-
I suppose it's possible that bagel jernts themselves serve that up. Have to take a look around.
-
I'd love lox and bagel at the moment. I'm having toast and hard-boiled eggs.
-
I need to call Joshie, too.
-
DR Chas, you have bagel shops there?
-
DR Chas, you have bagel shops there?
Oh sure. We're only an hour north of NYC, so while the bagel culture isn't as rich as in Westchester County, Long Island, or New Jersey -- bagels are here.
We have a small chain called Bagelman, Stew Leonard's has an authentic bagel making setup in their Danbury store, and there used to be a small bagel shop that produced the truest NYC-style bagel which unfortunately closed after a good long run.
-
When we lived in Woodbrigde, CT I was very happy to discover Lenders had a store with fresh bagels. It was a drive to get there. A few times a neighbor took me to Long Island for good bagels.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, DR John G.
I hope you brought us some bagels.
-
I guess this is a week of dodging storms. I slept very little because of the thunder throughout the night, and it's going to continue off and on through the day. At least the drive to work was uneventful.
-
The fresh bagel restaurant in Hamden was surprisingly good. I had only known Lenders from their frozen bagels.
-
Good morning, DR John G.
I hope you brought us some bagels.
I was hoping the bagel delivery person would make a southern stop.
-
Two!
-
Speaking of L.A. then, now, now and then, and then and now...
Once in a while I get notices of new posts for theaters I've marked as "mine" on cinematreasures.org, and someone there just posted a link to another site with an interesting shot of the News-View (a.k.a. Ritz - or Pussycat, as I knew it to be) Theater on Hollywood Blvd. Maybe y'all have seen it, but I hadn't. Gotta love that Orange Julius.
https://vinspiredhollywood.wordpress.com/2016/04/23/the-first-news-junkies/
BTW, I saved and tried to upload the photo right here, but got a message that it failed security checks!
-
Oh bagels.... that's all I'll say about that
-
Good Morning
-
I'm off to Trader Joes this morning early to get some shopping done and get to school. Today is technically my day off, but there are many things to do at school toward the end of the year, so I'll be there most of the day. Tonight is a dinner for my BFF's birthday. Looking forward to that.
-
Tonight is our first read through for ON GOLDEN POND. However since Norman can't be there....it will be more of an introduce yourself meeting.
-
Wednesday
morning afternoon greetings! Once again, the morning got away from me. Mostly I've been playing with some of the papercrafting goodies I bought yesterday and plugging along in this month's book group selection. We're discussing Jung Chang's Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China tomorrow evening, but I doubt many will have finished it. My goal is to get the third generation (the author) born, then review the timeline, the last chapter, the epilogue, and the afterward.
-
I read this. Plugging along is a good description.
-
Tonight Richard and I are going to Dayton's Schuster Center for the Performing Arts for the dress rehearsal for:
The Book Collector & Carmina Burana (http://daytonperformingarts.org/opera-performance/book-collector-carmina-burana)
My friend Sharon is in the Dayton Opera Chorus and my librarian friends Sue and Stephanie are in the Dayton Philharmonic Chorus.

Yes, DRs John G and ChasSmith, attending these dress rehearsals is fun - and free! Sharon gets 2 tickets each time and we last used hers for Daughter of the Regiment and we had the tickets for Otello but skipped it because of my cough. They make the audience leave as soon as the performance is over and the theatre geek in me would really like to stay for the notes.

I read this. Plugging along is a good description.
DR Jane, Wild Swans was originally published in 1991 and I suspect if I'd really wanted to read it, I'd have done so by now. But, as you know, being part of a book group means going along with others' choices, so here I am. I suspect the group will give the person who picked it as hard a time as they gave me for Robert Massie's Catherine the Great...
-
I chose to read Wild Swans on my own. It was ok and I finished it.
-
I was able to capture this lovely sight today as I crossed a little bridge heading out for a walk.
The photo is nicer if you click on it.
-
From DR TCB:
It sounds like a book I would enjoy.
It is why I asked if you read it. I'm enjoying it, so far.
-
Lord, Lord, Lord! There are some dumb asses on the Cast Recording List.
-
Nice photo DR JANE.
LOL.....yes DR GINNY I would like to be there for notes as well!
-
Lord, Lord, Lord! There are some dumb asses on the Cast Recording List.
I hope you don't mean me. I posted there today for the first in a long time.
-
Great photo, DR Jane.

Nope. I've responded to the dumb asses. Otherwise they just pass on incorrect info until it becomes fact. There are dumb asses on Facebook's Cast Recording and Forgotten Musicals who also repeat conjecture and their own wrong opinions as gospel on a regular basis.
-
The Director of LITTLE WOMEN now informs us that he needs to attend his daughter's dance recital this evening.....the Music/Vocal Director cannot be there until 7:30 p.m.
The Director has suggested that I run three dance numbers at 7 p.m. My ON GOLDEN POND first meeting/read thru is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.......So we shall see what we shall see.
I will ask my assistant to have the cast fill out their contact/conflicts forms and talk among themselves for 20 minutes or so.....
Or maybe I will just stay home and see what happens.
-
I'm up, I'm up - have been up since eleven, but have had non-stop stuff coming my way.
-

What good are facts if you can't get them wrong. :)
-
If some nice producer wants to move the show I'm all for it - unfortunately, you can't get anyone from the city or any of the other theater producers to actually get off their fat ASSES to, you know, see it.
-
In order to fulfill the Indiegogo cast album thing, we're recording the show live this weekend. It's not what I ultimately want, but when I can afford it, we'll go into the studio, have the exact band I want, and I'll do it with an all-star array of folks properly.
-

Only there?

Ooh! Ooh!

"My work here is done!"
-
But still, I linger.
-
Yes, that's a shot of Zelda Rubinstein as "Tangina" in "Poltergeist".
-
Haggis
The word has been on my mind all day.
It is truly on here that I can say it out loud without apology.
-
And it is time to head to Lincoln Center. I will not be at this reception long.
-
I hope everyone who loves "NCIS" enjoyed last night's season finale.
I hope everyone who loves "NCIS: New Orleans" enjoyed last night's season finale.
My only comment is that I'm glad both seasons are finished and hope that next season has more focus...for each show.
-
And it is time to head to Lincoln Center. I will not be at this reception long.
Ah, then it is not you who is being received?
-
Am looking forward to watching some classic WB b/w films from the 1940s...like "Dark Passage" and "Passage to Marseilles".
I'm intrigued by passages, I guess.
-
Thank you Jrand & John.
-
My word, but we're a quiet group today.
-
I've been yawning all afternoon.
-
Sorry that I got my Levins mixed up yesterday.
I guess that all Levins are not the same.
::)
Don't find yourself at sixes and Levins about it! It happens to everyone!
-
Yesterday was the hottest day of 2016 here in Oakland. It attained 90 degrees of temperature on the Fahrenheit scale.
I was perfectly comfortable all day at work. The ride home was warm but pleasant.
The condo was, as per the usual on hot days, an oven.
I connected my portable A/C to the vent hose and allowed myself the luxury of cooled air for all of the evening and into the wee hours of the morning.
Fell asleep in my chair around 11 p.m. and didn't awaken until 3 a.m. By then, my bedroom (which had been closed off) was perfectly cool and comfy.
Lord, I really hate hot weather. Hopefully, there won't be much of it this summer like yesterday's.
-
90 is very hot for this time of year.
-
Only made it to the low 60's in DC today. Nice for May, if you ask me!
-
Got tickets for Barbra's LA show in the AmEx presale. No luck for Las Vegas. She's appearing at the new T Mobile Arena there.
-
Home from Lincoln Center. I was attending a reception for the Dean of Miami Libraries, soem of his staff, and others. One of our alumni (1977) is the archivist for the NY Philharmonic. It was a great deal of fun.
-
Home from a long day at school - now off to a birthday dinner for my BFF
-
Having been born and raised on Long Island I can't even imagine not seeing a bagel shop or two or three in every town as well as in every supermarket and deli
-
Likewise lox....
-
Page three? Really?
-
Home from a long evening of dancing.
-
After a too long day of work.
-
Where is everybody?
-
Starting to watch Jean Renoir's The Southerner.
-
Hello, 4 guests.
-
Welcome to the funhouse.
-
My allergies have been running riot today. Guess the rain worked up all the mold.
-
One more ...
-
Four!
-
Page four? Really?
-
Beulah Bondi could play complaining, cantankerous, hideous, self-centered women better than just about anybody else.
-
I think I've had about enough fun for the day.
-
Time for a Benedryl and some shut eye.
-
And I'll leave the posting to somebody else.
-
Good night, all.
-
Why is this week so dreary around these here parts. Who exactly is missing? Chillaliz has been gone for a while, Jane isn't posting much, George is the busiest man in show business - and where in HELL is Singdaw.
-
Back from our pick-up rehearsal - we ran almost everything, and I cleaned up a couple of things. Then a couple of us went to the Smoke House for dinner. I had a lot o' little stuff but no meal - cup of clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, grilled artichoke, and a baked potato. Other than the mountain of butter I used on the potato, of which I only ate half, I'd say it was almost a calorie-free meal - even with the butter around 1000 calories.
-
I feel very full, too.
-
Good evening!
-
Well, this doesn't look good.
-
Page 4? Really?
-
This has been a quiet day, I guess.
-
Today was a dreary day.
-
Weather-wise I mean.
-
It was suppose to rain all day, but that didn't happen.
-
I was watching season two of grace and Frankie
-
Then I was sleeping
-
Instead, it was just cloudy.
-
Then I was awake and eve body else was sleeping
-
Now they are saying the rain is due tomorrow.
-
I have nothing to share except for work
-
And there is nothing there of interest
-
There was no explanation of how they screwed up last night's forecast.
-
I did cruise over to FB for a quick browse and saw that former DRs Ann and Jed are in New York
-
But they are leaving Friday so no chance of a meet and greet
-
I am still trying to figure out weather to buy the new furniture.
-
Apparently Tom and I have managed to chatter on unaware of the others presence
-
Funny that Jed and Ann didn't bother to notify anyone that they were coming to New York.
-
Hi tom
-
Oh looky page five
-
Five
-
I wonder if I can think of anything clever to say in time for my upcoming millstone
-
At this hour of tomorrow, I suspect not
-
So nice to see you here, Vixmom.
-
And you, Tommy!
-
Nothing good happening at work?
-
Oh goodness one more post.... The pressure, the stress
-
Didn't you get a new assistant?
-
Something profound!
-
I am doing a drum roll.
-
Maybe Vixmom is going to wait until tomorrow for the milestone.
-
The suspense is killing me.
-
I enjoyed last night's NCIS and NCIS-N.O.
-
I thought I was going to miss Michael Weatherly, but I see he is already in a new series this summer. BULL.
-
I don't know anything about it.
-
"There is a magic in long distance friendships. They let you relate to other human beings in a way that goes beyond being physically together and is often more profound " Diana Cortes
-
But I will probably try it.
-
I think that Vixmom is asleep.
-
I am not even tired.
-
But my typing skills are really lacking tonight.
-
They go well with my grammar skills.
-
I wish I could have gotten a Streisand ticket.
-
But not having an AmEx card, I can't even buy tickets until the 25th.
-
If there were any tickets left by then, which is doubtful.
-
I am glad that Kevin is finally getting a chance to see Barbra in person.
-
With any luck, he will get to see Brent this year, also.
-
Maybe without having to travel very far.
-
One more post.
-
SIX
-
I am waiting for my friend, Betzy, to find out if we are going furniture shopping again tomorrow.
-
It seems to be a good time to shop for furniture.
-
All the stores seem to be having pre-Memorial Day sales, followed by Memorial Day sales, all during the next two weeks.
-
I should see if I can get in to see my doctor tomorrow. I am almost out of pain medication.
-
If I don't go tomorrow, I will need to wait until Monday.
-
Having been born and raised on Long Island I can't even imagine not seeing a bagel shop or two or three in every town as well as in every supermarket and deli
Moving around the country was a real shock to us. Our first move was to New Jersey. More shocking than the lack of bagels...there weren't any Mexican restaurants and the avocados were these strange tasting ones from Florida 😯
-
Time for a Benedryl and some shut eye.
I also took some Benadryl.
-
In NJ we were able to buy matzo which was not always easy to find other places.
-

I hurt my neck and shouldn'the be posting as much as I have.
-
We have spent more time than usual on the phone talking to friends and family.
-
I am going to try and sleep.
'night.
-
Good night, Jane.
-

Well, it's been a day. I've been home for almost an hour and have watched the latest episode of "The Real O'Neals." I really like this show.
-
I got to work in time to watch the required training videos: a Bloodborne Pathogen Training video, Ethics in the Library, Harassment Training, and Active Shooter Video. All four videos took about an hour. If people weren't able to see the videos today, they can all be watched on-line at any time.
-
After that, we had a speaker who did a presenation on emotional...something...I forget what. I then worked on my invoices for a bit, and then the admin fed everyone! There was pulled pork or shredded chicken sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, salads, cookies, rice krispie treats, etc.
-
After feasting, I went back to my invoices and the monthly report that I have to compile for the business office. I didn't finish it, though. ::)
-
I had to leave at 5:45 so that I could usher for The Kingston Trio at the WCPA! They're not, of course, the originsl line-up, but they've all been in the group for at least 30 years. But wow, they put on a great concert!
-

When is the deadline?
-
The house was practically sold out, but they came out to the lobby and signed CDs for anyobe. I bought a CD and got their autographs. :D
-

When is the deadline?
A week and a day before the monthly board meeting. However, our new business manager wants to change it so that bills can be paid twice a month. That would be VERY helpful!
-
Were three many anyobes?
-
Were three many anyobes?
D'oh! :o
-
I would like to have seen The Kingston Trio.
-
I would like to have seen The Kingston Trio.
I was never specifically a fan of theirs, like my sister's boyfriend is, but I really enjoyed the concert. They even sang "Maria"(h) from Paint Your Wagon.
-
Well, we can't stop here!
-
And...
-
...since...
-
...we're...
-
...so close...
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
-
:D
-
I would like to have seen The Kingston Trio.
Of course, I would also like to have seen Barbra Streisand.

Me, too!

I imagine the Kingston Trio tickets would have been less expensive.

Soooooo much less!

I would LOVE to!

Tell them you will even pay your own airfare.

Well, I don't know if I'd go that far!
