Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a few of BK's Rules of Cabaret, and now it is time for you to post until the cabaret cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LITOTES!
-
First post after BK!
-
Next post after TCB!
-
I guess I had better turn in for the night (or for the morning).
-
Good night, George.
-
Good morning to all

TOD
Interestingly I think I've only seen one Gary Cooper over the years and can't tell you why. I've seen clips and extended scenes from other films but only one complete film. That would be High Noon and I don't have memory of the film itseld except for the final scene when he leaves.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night i watched the first half of a film version of Patrick Suskind's novel Perfume. I may watch the second half tonight, or i may just send it back to Netflix; I'm that ambivalent about it.
-
This morning I have a doctor's appointment at 10. i do not know his name, but he's a muscle specialist, and I hope he can discover what problems I am facing with my left leg.
-
I need some coffee.

BK
Writing a book on your Cabaret rules I think is a great idea. I think many people can benefit even well-known people have no idea how to put a show together.
And my biggest beef is the patter. They need someone to help them write and edit it. Then the director to reel in the "ahhs" and "uhms" one hears every few words. (This is being a Toastmaster where we are drilled not to use these crutch words) Even the President of the USA uses them.
Then the song order is also important.
-
As for the Frank Loesser show from last night.
Perhaps the important moments in her life had Loesser song attached to it.

Good morning, all.

This DR was awake way too early this morning.
-
Leg vibes for DR Elmore.

This DR was awake way too early this morning.
Like I am now, or was at 3:30 when I woke up.
-
The cabaret sounds like a horribly misguided affair, and the very thought of woohooing and cheerleading is disgusting.
Re crutch words: I'm just waiting to hear about a cabaret in which, after every song, the patter begins with "So...", a major national epidemic.
-
Oddly enough, I don't know that many Gary Cooper films myself, but this Twilight Time release sounds right up my alley.
-
Well, I have yet to sleep five minutes - talk about a nightmare. Every damn night now, no matter what I eat and when, I have horrible heartburn or acid reflux or whatever this crap is. I finally could take it no more and twenty minutes ago I got dressed and went to the market, which, as long as I have lived here has been open 24 hours. Not now. Now they close at one and open at five. I drove several other places to no avail and finally found a gas station open and got a tiny packet of Tums that look nothing like what I usually buy, but I hope they work because I have HAD it.
-
BK, get your buttcheeks to a doctor. If this is happening nightly, it may be something serious. You never mention doctor or health insurance, but you should have it checked out. What if you had an aortic aneurism?
-
Isn't that what Jonathan Larsen was complaining of when every ER in town sent him gome, claiming he was fine?

TOD: Ball of Fire, Design for Living

Doctor vibes for DR ELMORE.
Meeting vibes for MR BK.
-
THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR was most excellent.....my friend Vickie and I stayed for the Talk Back.
Counting the two of us, there was a total of two people. It was nice just to talk to the cast. I knew four of them, five counting the director. The ENTIRE cast did not stay, but it was nice to talk to them and hear what they had to say.
-
Tonight the LITTLE WOMEN are being wired for sound....and I think the rest of the pit will be there....so it should be entertaining and exciting and scary.....

A bit of shopping is in order.

I love Al Dubin's lyrics, but I remember reading a bio of him -- by his daughter, if I recall correctly -- and not caring for the man behind all those great songs.
-
Thanks, George. I thought I remembered someone writing about the new version of Macbeth, but I couldn't remember who or what had been said. I blame age.

And I am home from my session with Dr. Vairavamurthy, who will inject my hip with cortisone next Tuesday morning, May 31. He believes the problem is arthritis, so I'm willing to give it a try.

Good morning. I got up early enough for a hike up the mountain. It was very nice.
-
BK, there is a tablet called Pepcid Complete that comes in a bottle with a big red cap. If it is heartburn, that will help. Works better than Tums.
-
DR LAURA how are the paid volunteers working out? How often do they call you, and how often has the alarm gone off?
-
I don't know if they are paying anyone. The pastor, the church clerk, and the guitar player have all done powerpoints. They just have a blank screen with words. There is no newsletter any more. And the alarm has gone off five times: three in the first month, and a couple of months later it went off twice in one week.
-
I'll try that Pepcid thing because Tums isn't really doing the trick. I've slept three hours so far and I'm going back to bed.

Monday afternoon greetings! I drove to the northern Cincinnati 'burbs this morning to retrieve a piece for one of the furniture items we cleared out of that friend's mother's room earlier this month. Now that Rob has picked the lock of the desk portion (there's no key...) we can insert this piece and get this item delivered to the garage sale site.

Bruce, these once prescription, now over the counter drugs might also help.

Also did a couple of errands and learned listening to the Diane Rehm show why Mary Chapin Carpenter's concert 2 weeks ago was so subdued - her mother had just died. I think we were lucky she didn't cancel.
-
I agree with DR Elmore that BK should see a doctor.
-
Healthy vibes to elmore and to BK!!!
~~~DITTO and DITTO!!~~~
-
You would need to try one and use it every day. Keith found one bothered him and one helped. Currently he isn't using either. I think he preferred the Nexium. I know Prilosec bothered my stomach and the doctor switched me to Protonix. I also had a bad case of it and, so far, can't get off the drugs.
-
I agree with DR Elmore that BK should see a doctor.
I do not dispute that. Keith tried over the counter since we didn't have the time to see our doctor in Ashland. So far we can't find a new primary physician here that takes Medicare. We will likely be switching our insurance in October.
This sad news is just breaking here in Middletown:
Middletown Symphony to End Musical Programs (http://www.journal-news.com/news/news/middletown-symphony-to-end-musical-programs/nrRqC/)
-
On a break from the overture. There is one spot in "If I Were A Bell" that I know Trumpet 2 is harmonically wrong, but I don't know what it should be. There will be some serious harmonic examination here this afternoon.
Very interesting detail there, DR Elmore. And you're only in the Overture? See ya next year when you come up for air! :D
Oh no, not another orchestra! That is sad news.
-
That is a sad article DR GINNY......
-
There are a couple of clinkers in trumpets and saxes, so I have lots to discuss with Jason tomorrow when he comes for the overture. We have to submit a finished copy to Music Theatre International for perusal before we proceed.
-
The day that the former Armco Steel Corporation moved its general offices out of Middletown, Ohio, was the end of that city's international, sophisticated outlook on the world. It's now a bedroom community, and the white trash and tattoo parlors are taking over. The end of the Symphony is just one more loss to reality TV and Trump supporters.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
So, somewhere in all this madness I must have gotten about six hours of sleep but I am completely wasted and so is this day.
-
I'll go buy all those.
I wonder if that's the same Armco that acquired the insurance company in Cincinnati that had provided such a nice career job for my dad...until they subsequently dissolved it and dumped people right and left.
You are both right, unfortunately. In 1983 I was in a "visioning" session in which many people were saying they didn't want us to become a bedroom community for Cincinnati and Dayton. I thought we should have worked to make ourselves a highly desirable bedroom community to ward off some of the icky developments DR Elmore has observed. They're trying now to back pedal it, with excruciatingly slow success.
-
I guess I will continue with Perfume tonight. I have half the fim to finish, and I hope to be early to bed.
-
Good evening!
-
It was a funny day weather-wise. Light rain, sun, clouds, now rain again.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Leg-relief vibes to Larry!
-
No more heartburn vibes to BK, Jane, and anyone in need!
-
I was having heartburn a couple months ago. Horrible! I've been taking aloe vera capsules with meals and that has really stopped it. Unfortunately, I don't think you're supposed to take them on an empty stomach. Don't know why, but I bought some liquid aloe vera, which I'll try on an empty stomach. But I no longer have the problem.
-
I received an email this morning:
"Mercury retrograde is over. Now you can only blame yourself."
Of course, we at HHW have always known to blame Jose.
-
I received a nasty letter from my bank over the weekend, saying that a certain fee was seriously overdue and hitting me with a late charge. This was especially annoying because said fee is always deducted from my checking account, so how can it be late? I believe it is fall-out from the counterfeit check problem a couple months ago. I spent an hour and a half this morning dealing with it. Ugh! Whatever happened to customer service? It's so blatantly absent.
-
I would change banks if I could find a decent one. My experiences at both Wells Fargo and BofA were far worse.
-
Perhaps Mercury retrograde hasn't completely left.
-
Really nice review of L.A. NOW AND THEN. If it was posted before, it's worth posting again:
I'll go buy all those.
Buy what?
Guess this answers my question-sorry.
No more heartburn vibes to BK, Jane, and anyone in need!
Thanks. Actually I don't suffer much with it because of the great meds, except I worry about side effects due to long term use. I tried every natural products with no relief prior to taking the meds. They did give me a bonus, they also help my IBS.
It is tough when you can't eat, now I can thanks to the meds.
-
I would change banks if I could find a decent one. My experiences at both Wells Fargo and BofA were far worse.
We walked away from Wells Fargo for something they could easily have taken care of.
I haven't been with a bank since I was in college. I've been with credit unions and have never had trouble. Is that an option for you, Jeanne?
-
Perfume was a strange movie, and I doubt that I want to read the novel.
-
Back from finally having some food - a cobb salad and a bagel. Then I picked up a package, then bought Pepcid and Nexium. I immediately took a Pepcid tablet - too soon to tell how it's working, but the heaviness in my chest seems to be abating. I've also been drinking more than what I now do as my daily allotment of Diet Coke - that's stopping today - it creeps up so easily.
-
Keith pretty much stopped drinking soda. I did years ago. Without the meds I can't have anything fizzy. Now I can occasionally.
-
then bought Pepcid and Nexium. I immediately took a Pepcid tablet -
VIBES THIS HELPS!!!!
-
I just have to get some Diet Ginger Ale - that doesn't bother me at all and is actually helpful.
-
Interesting. The ginger must be helping. Did you let some of the fiz settle before drinking it?
Health vibes for BK and Elmore.
I'm a firm believer in the power of ginger ale.
Of course, I like mint, lime and gin in mine, just for extra medicinal benefits. :)
-
Starting to watch Suffragette. Love the cast. Wonder why the movie disappeared. Maybe because it was British history. Or just because it was about women.
-
I liked ginger ale for my stomach, same for peppermint, but they bother my relux.
Before the meds made a difference I would look at a menu in a restaurant and decide which to suffer with that night, GERD or IBS. I then began to find that wine, and studies have now shown I am correct, settle my stomach making it easier to eat those foods.
That's interesting. Who knew that wine was good for settling a stomach? Good thing I don't have tummy troubles because I don't drink wine. :P
;)
And on that note (G#), I'm off to home. I'll only stay for about an hour because a friend who is vacationing on the east coast with his wife asked if I would go to his house and pick up a letter that needs to be mailed tomorrow by 2-day express. Their roommate (who won't be home until about an hour from now) will be there to give me the letter. I don't know why the roommate can't mail the letter, but I didn't ask. Fortunately, it's not too far from where I live...and I'm a nice guy. :D
Until later.
Hello, 5 guests!
-
What are you reading about tonight?
-
Please introduce yourselves in a series of posts.
-
That'll get us to the next page.
-
I'm enjoying Suffragette. The cast is good, so is the pacing. Some of the script is a little too shorthand, but if it hadn't been, the movie might have been three hours long.
-
I really like Carey Mulligan, Romola Garai, Helena Bonham Carter and Brendan Gleeson, whose character is surprisingly the best developed in the movie.
-
I need to get some work done.
-
But I just don't feel like it.
-
So, on I'll post.
-
Until page 5.
-
Almost there.
But not quite.
One more.
Didn't count that right.
I haven't been with a bank since I was in college. I've been with credit unions and have never had trouble. Is that an option for you, Jeanne?
Excellent point, George! I banked with a company credit union for many years and, aside from a car loan which they had to redo three times due to errors, my experience was positive. In fact, I never cancelled my membership. However, they've been quite nasty about my inactive account, so I don't really want to bank with them now. A Google search turned up a credit union I've never heard of, who will accept me as a member with a $5 charitable contribution, which I'd be happy to make.
-
Part of what I was doing this morning was moving my safe deposit box to a different branch--one that has better customer service--and I had to pay the rental for the coming year. Thus, a disincentive to make a change right now. But I shall investigate the credit union option. Thanks for mentioning it, George.
I just watched the season finale of CALL THE MIDWIFE. It's quite sad, but tastefully handled, I think. I do love that show.
I never got that one. It was the first time that I heard of Rob McClure who plays Charlie Chaplin, and I've since heard and seen videos of him in other projects and I like him.
We too love the show. I did not realize it was the last episode until December. And yes, a sad but excellent epusode.
So I wasn't completely wrong ;)
-
I really need sleep - may just take some NyQuil and hope for the best.
Another day of furniture shopping today.
-
Well! That managed to clear the room.
-
The weather forecast for the three-day weekend is beginning to improve.
-
They originally were calling for rain all three days.
-
Now they are saying partial clearing, with the temperature around70 degrees.
-
I guess it is rather silly to go on talking to myself.
G'night.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
I was watching "Antiques Roadshow."
-
DR TCB, did you find any furniture you want?
