Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no heartburn, and now it is time for you to post until the no heartburn cows come home.

Awoke too early, but with the relief that a challenging high school concert (this one went on for close to two hours without a break) is over -- as is, indeed, my whole spring season with them -- and that I have three (count 'em) consecutive ME days in which to get some good sh   stuff done.

I will, however, happily attend their annual jazz concert, which is always enjoyable, next week.

It's hard to believe the temperature is going to jump up into the mid to high 80s today.

But I guess I'll be believing it soon enough.

Well, it's apparent that I need to order the CAT BALLOU release forthwith.

I must be one of the few people in these United States who has never seen this movie.  And I can't exactly say why that happened.  But BK's comments, along with those of a couple of trusted people on the Home Theater Forum, have shown me the error of my ways.

The title YOU'LL LIKE MY MOTHER certainly sounds familiar, but I have no idea whether I saw that one.  I suspect I did and it quickly faded into the memories.  But I'd watch it now, especially for Patty Duke.

This really feels like a day other than a Wednesday.  It feels more like a weekend thanks to my crazy schedule of late.  But I'm perfectly happy it's a Wednesday.  You'll get no complaint from me.  No, sir.  Wednesday is what it is, and Wednesday is fine.  I embrace the day and its very Wednesdayness.

Wednesday morning greetings!  Just got off the phone with my sister, who could use some vibes this morning.  She fell on the golf course yesterday and planted her face on the cart path.  Nothing broken and no concussion, thank goodness, but she has abrasions and 2 black eyes.  Her left eye is swollen shut.

Thanks, DR Jane!  She also further twisted the knee that might need to be replaced - not as a direct result of this fall, though.  She and her husband and their daughter are supposed to be here for Memorial Day weekend and, so far, she thinks they'll be able to make it.

For some reason it seems like Thursday to me.  Tonight is a run through, and the director says we will stay until we are done.....that sounds like a threat.

Act Two was not too bad last night, but they keep adding things, so one is never sure what one will find when one walks onstage......

And of the 10 lines I have in Act Two....I forgot two of them....I think I was tired because I came early and did a lot of other things before we got started.  Also, I was waiting to go on.....but the director went BACK three times to do the first scene of the act.....

I have spent the last 45 minutes on line and on phone about this issue.  30 minutes was spent trying to find the means to contact Customer Service.  It used to be much easier.

I absolutely agree and don't know how he can drink any at all.  I also learned the hard way to SLOWLY give up caffeine drinks.  I went through withdrawal giving up Pepsi and had to do it slowly.

I did it early on in my life when I was stationed in Italy.   I bought and consumed mineral water (the sparkling bubbly variety).  After that, my tastes changed from cokes/sprites/seven-ups to acqua minerale.  :)

I still occasionally enjoy a ginger ale, though.

I have been dealing with the bureaucracy of getting reimbursed for my Medicare premiums from my retirement plan, which is further complicated by a middleman (agency).  With no confidence that I've done it correctly, and no way to talk to an actual person anywhere, I've just put something in the mail.  Pray for Rosemary's baby...

I am home from market.  The 104 buses are screwed up today.  I waited at 86th Street for over 5 minutes on a bus that should arrive every 8 minutes.  One of the waiting ladies with the phone app to check bus arrivals said the next bus was 12 minutes away.  WTF? So I got a taxi.  Its effen hot outside today and I hate weather over 70 degrees F.

Banking accomplished, Metrocard refilled, groceries to unpack and vegetables and fruit to wash.

Crisis to crisis.  Today's fresh hell: a rather unintelligible phone call from my neighbor Judy. It seems that the jerk neighbor Steve on our floor has been telling tenants that Bobba, our super, has been replaced by the building management.  This is bad news, since I think he and his family are great, even if he took his time repairing my ceiling two years ago.  So, I've been emailing and phoning our agent to protest.

That was probably around the time I became addicted to Pepsi.  When I got IBS any soda made my stomach hurt like heck.  After getting GERD even champagne gave me reflux, and I didn't have any problem with it bothering my IBS, probably for the same reason wine helps it.

DR RLP - since 1949, the race has been blacked out in the Indy area.....it was broadcast in other towns.....I don't know if it was 100 or 200 miles outside the area.

Channel Six, WFBM, now WRTV, will broadcast it this year, live.  It has been on delay and broadcast on the night of the race n recent years.

Overheard at the hairdresser:

Richard, master colorist, is advising a twenty-something stylist on some of the finer points of hair color.

Richard: Have you ever heard of Sherlock Holmes?

Young stylist: No.

Richard: You've never heard of Sherlock Holmes?

Young stylist: No, but I've heard people say, "Eat sh*t, Sherlock."

Richard: Not the same thing.

Young stylist: Stick to things from my generation.

I don't think the solution has anything to do with when I eat, or even what I eat, unless it's late at night.  I don't think it has anything to do with having one Diet Coke a day.  I'm not sure what it has to do with - I can go months without any problems at all, MONTHS - of eating anything I like whenever I like.  This happens infrequently but it's really annoying when it does.  Usually upping my water intake helps immediately, and certainly these little pills seem to be helping.

I am always saddened when the PBS season is over. I'll miss CALL THE MIDWIFE, GRANTCHESTER, and MR SELFRIDGE. I usually use the summer months to catch up on shows I missed, some of which were popular before my birth.

Any suggestions for good TV shows from the last five or so years? (Don't care for futuristic stuff.)

The esophagus can--and does--get scratched from time to time, which will make you particularly prone to that horrible burning feeling if your stomach acids, which are needed to digest your food, back up at all. That could explain the very intermittent nature of your problem. Two issues: (1) heal the esophagus, and (2) don't get too acid.

Drinking water dilutes the acid. If you do have heartburn again, immediately drink water.

I thought it best not to say anything, BUT...SHERLOCK, the BBC TV show, and very popular at that, IS part of today's world. Aaaarrrrrrggghhhhhh!

;D

I am always saddened when the PBS season is over. I'll miss CALL THE MIDWIFE, GRANTCHESTER, and MR SELFRIDGE. I usually use the summer months to catch up on shows I missed, some of which were popular before my birth.

Any suggestions for good TV shows from the last five or so years? (Don't care for futuristic stuff.)

Miranda Hart, whom I dearly miss on CALL THE MIDWIFE, had her own show called MIRANDA.  It ran from 2009-20015.  Have you watched it?  We haven't but I am curious about it.

Drinking water dilutes the acid. If you do have heartburn again, immediately drink water.

I heard this over and over again and how some people totally got rid of their reflux problem by drinking lots of water.  It didn't help at all and I kept gagging.

I watched the first season of MIRANDA on Hulu. I loved the show; I love Miranda Hart. But Hulu?! You need to subscribe or you're inundated with commercials.

Well, I'm off.  Tonight is the one and only rehearsal for Theater Artists Olympia's "Words, Words, Words: The Elizabethan Poets."  We only have two performances on Friday and Saturday.  Since it's all just readings, there's not a lot to rehearse.  I'm running the sound AND the lights!  I've never run lights before, at least, not at The Midnight Sun.  It's supposed to be very easy...just lights up and down...and preshow, then intermission music.  Simple.

Be back later.

I ordered from an Amazon vender yesterday a DVD that I would swear was priced at $9.95.  I was invoiced for $119.00!

I have spent the last 45 minutes on line and on phone about this issue.  30 minutes was spent trying to find the means to contact Customer Service.  It used to be much easier.

You can always give it to me. :)

A favorite bakery in town is opening a second location, and I got invited to a press preview. Had a half trout confit sandwich (think of tuna salad made with fresh fish) and a half pimento cheese, plus a pistachio macaron (not macaroon) as well as a handmade moon pie. I was happy.

Back from a horrid show and a good dinner.  I won't say much about the show in the notes, since I know the director and a couple of the actors, but it was dreadful for all the same reasons it was dreadful eighteen years ago when I saw it under a different title.  It is very difficult to make a musical about a despicable person no matter how the book writers lie and try to turn him into someone lovable, even inventing a faux happy ending without any context.  None of the songs have context (the show is about lyricist Al Dubin), the production, which cost a LOT of dough, looks like it cost nothing, and while it's swell that the wealthy producer has all her friends and the writer theirs and that that little pocket of ten people scream, hoot, and whoop it up every time someone utters what they consider to be a witticism, well, they're not fooling anyone.  The theater seats 1200 people.  The balcony is closed.  And downstairs there were maybe 200 people.  But there was a critic there tonight and he'll give it his usual "Wow" - other reviewers, while trying to be kind, all concur that the book is crap.  For me, it's worse than crap, it's bogus.
