Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no substance whatsoever, and now it is time for you to post until the no substance whatsoever cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: OLYKOEK!
-
To quote TCB: "First post after BK!"
-
Today, I have no plans whatsoever. I'll ketchup on some TV watching during the day, and then this evening, a friend is going to invite a bunch of friends over and show a movie on the side of his workshop building.
-
He has a Blu-ray player, a hi-def projector, and he just upgraded his sound system. He did this last year and it's become quite the popular activity. :D
-
And now, to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
We are on the Bullit train to the town of Girona. The seats are comfortable and the ride is wry smooth.
-
I forgot to mention, as the name implies, the train is fast-at least 100 miles an hour.
-
We are going 125 miles an hour.
-
We noticed a sign that shows our speed.
-
Good morning to all
-
Good morning, all.
Another early Saturday morning.
-
I'm certainly up earlier than I needed to be, but no harm done, the day is all mine.
-
In a little while I'm going to this annual "tag" sale for my first time:
http://abbeyofreginalaudis.org/CurrentEvents.html
-
Who knows, maybe I'll come back with a car full of trunks, sheet music, bird cages, hardware & tools, housewares, books, furniture, replacement windows, and barn treasures.
-
That's also where the theater where we're doing Act One is, and I'll be up there again tomorrow afternoon to observe a run-through of the play. I'm greatly looking forward to that. Next week is tech week and my first rehearsal to play is Tuesday night.
-
Does anywhere else in the country call them "tag sales" or is that still a regional term in this here region? That seemed so odd to me when I moved here, having grown up always hearing "yard sale" or "garage sale". And "rummage sale", but I seem to associate that one more with churches or schools.
-
Very excited to hear BK is thinking about a Brain From Planet X revival for this fall. As well as possibly another traditional musical. Good news all around.
-
I should begin to get moving. I'm treating myself to a Sausage McMuffin with Egg breakfast on my way over to the Abbey. Because I want it. I need it. I deserve it. Well, that last part may not be true. But so what? I ask you.
-
And that's just about enough drivel from me.
-
We can't seem to get away from the crowds. There is a huge sidewalk sale going on.
-
I chased a beautiful Bernese Mt Dog down the street 😍
-
Good morning. A rare Saturday with nothing planned. I'd better plan something.
-
Oh, there's another term. Sidewalk sale.
-
Greetings from the Abbey. I'm early.
-
Good morning, all! I was so tired that I went to bed at 9:00 last night. I slept quite well, and now I am moving among the living.
-
DR ChasSmith, I wish I were at that sale with you. I never know when a birdcage could come in handy, and there are still a couple of vocal scores I need to lay hands on.
-
I've been listening to the download of PAINT YOUR WAGON, since my CD will not be arriving from Amazon for another couple of weeks. It is soooo wonderful!
-
On Thursday, I noticed that my lower left eyelid is tender, and I wonder if I am fighting an eye infection. Damnation.
-
I plan to spend the weekend dealing with the Appalachian Christmas fixes, the edit of No. 13 in the Moross score, and I may go out today and see my Dublin friends.
-
More coffee!
-
Page 2 Dance!
-
Elmore and BK both closing in on nice round millstones!
-
Elmore and BK both closing in on nice round millstones!
38,000 worthless posts on my end!
-
Fascinating link from DR CHAS SMITH.....you may even see Mother Dolores Hart again....that short documentary about her was very interesting!
Loved the photos from DR CILLA LIZ last night.
We have a dog visiting, so Precious and I are confined to our room. She doesn't seem to mind.
-
Last night's performance of LITTLE WOMEN was good, and the audience was most excellent....it will be nice to be finished for the week after tonight.
Sunday is Day Off!
-
It sounds as if MR BK is going to be very busy! I look forward to hearing about the progress of all of his projects.
-
TOD:
Twinkies, although many other people like them as well.
Jolly Ranchers....too sour for some people
-
Good morning, all.
-
ChasSmith, that looks like a fun sale. Hope you find some real find, as it were.
-

Great news.
-
I'm going to miss Peter Filichia's Friday column on Kritzerland.com.
-
Ahhhhhh Saturday-- how lovely!
-
Greetings from Western New York !
-
It's 82 degrees here and 79 degrees in DC. Usually it's hotter in DC.
-
Well, I'm disappointed no one mentioned my astounding milestone of 6600 posts. 😉
-
I'm going to miss Peter Filichia's Friday column on Kritzerland.com.
Just saw that. That's too bad. I hope the archived columns will remain accessible.
-

The boxes of music, alas, were landfill material.
But let me know what those last vocal scores are. Look what happened the last time you named one! :)
-
But man, it's a day for sales out there. And up that way a bunch of them were "barn sales".
Oddly enough, I pulled over at a community tag sale where Dazzler..., the book about Moss Hart by Steven Bach, was on the first table I looked at. Anyone read it? I dropped the two bucks.
-

She wasn't out while I was there this morning, but I'll be seeing her at some point or other through the run of the play.

I did. It wasn't bad. i suspect Kitty clamped down on some things.
-
Oh, there's another term. Sidewalk sale.
I thought my timing was good.
-
We returned to the train station early to catch our booked train back to Barcelona. Lucky for us too. They let us exchange our ticket for an earlier train and said the one we were booked on was coming from France where there is a strike. Our original train has been arriving an hour late.
We only had to wait a few minutes to catch our train.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I think I got ten hours of sleep.
-
Very groggy and I really must jog to clear the guck from everywhere.
-
When we arrived back in Barcelona we walked about 45 minutes to our hotel.
We have walked more steps today than any other day so far, and we have been walking a lot of steps.
Today we walked 27,000 steps.
-
I meant to mention Peter's column would be his last. We've been talking about it for a few weeks now - I wanted to give him an immediate home when he was booted from Theatermania. Eventually he found several other homes and he got very busy and it was just best to end it. The columns will all remain archived here and it was great to have him, a very good run.
-
I just saw on All That Chat that James H. Burns (who posted there as "Shakespeare in the Dark") passed away a few days ago.
http://www.talkinbroadway.com/allthatchat_new/d.php?id=2337137
We used to talk regularly, and he at times had some kind of clever theater project ideas, which tended to be artistically smart and bright - except for the usual subject of where would the money come from to implement the idea. A wonderful dreamer, who obviously from all reports hit some hard times in his last couple of years.
We last talked a little over a week ago, and he mentioned some medical concerns, but I had not gotten the sense from that conversation that it was so near this tragic result.
A very good man, who died way too young.

Has Peter mentioned what project he's working on with Doug Cohen and Gerard Alessandrini, or is it hush-hush?
-
I have DAZZLER and I think DR ELMORE is correct, but it is still an interesting read.
-
Certainly worth $2.
-
Back from a jog - first time in months.
-
Sunday Saturday afternoon greetings! As if this week weren't confusing enough with the Monday holiday, today was our Lima day instead of tomorrow. This was at the request of the bishop from the denomination with which Holy Nativity is affiliating. Their former denomination pretty much dumped them when they asked for help replacing Fr. Richard upon his July 10 retirement, so they found refuge in a similar one that's much bigger and enthusiastic about helping them revive their diminishing congregation. Richard and I picked up Bp. Manto at 8:15am and we just dropped him off on our way into town. We're pretty exhausted.
-
There's another Moss Hart bio as well, I recall. I have it. I thought there was a new Agnes deMille bio coming out this year.
-
Glad to have had the Filichia on Friday column for as long as it lasted. I know Peter writes for many other places; this was the only one I kept up with regularly.
-
Took a nap. It was loverly.
-
Overheard at Big Lots today:
Woman 1: What are lentils?
Woman 2: Jewish food.
Huh?
-
One of the reasons I brought Peter here was I thought it would drive traffic to the site (it did) and perhaps result in some sales (it didn't). That was a surprise to me.
-
A couple of clips of Muhammad Ali in the musical, Buck White.

Four and a half years. That's a pretty good run. It's the end of an era.

I'm so sorry, Larry.

Twenty minutes to the stumble-through.
-
TOD:
I don't know that there's any really "stupid" snacks I like, although I certainly love plenty of junk food. At the top of my list is:
Bugles
Cheetos (the baked puffy kind)
Milk Duds
Red Vines
Hot Tomales
Milk Duds also feel like they can rip your fillings out. I too much prefer Jujyfruits over Jujubes. Yes, Jujyfruits are softer, but probably no one our age should be eating such stuff regardless.
-
Um, one post in the last three and a half hours - kids, I don't know what universe you live in but I live in one called haineshisway.com and we'd best get some damn postin' goin' on.
-
Stumble-through was mostly great - one singer really needs to do homework on the lyrics, but everyone else was almost perfect lyrics-wise, including me because Guy Haines didn't show.
-
I've been watching the last five episodes of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
-
I'm now almost done with the two-hour season finale.
-
Well, I need to get ready to go to my friend's outdoor movie!
-
It's quite warm out now, so I don't expect it to be very cold tonight.
-
I want to go to the store to see if I can get some bug spray.
-
Mosquitos don't usually bother me, but you never know.
-
So, I'm off!
-
Have a good rest of the evening!
-
Until later!

Don't know if you can see this, but I saw it this afternoon and thought of today's topic.
-
TOD:
I would have to divide my tastes into sweet and savory.
-
Savory snacks you can purchased would have to include Chex mix, especially with those garlic crackers in them.
Regular Ruffles with ridges and some sort of dip
Cheese crackers
Goldfish
Salted peanuts
Mixed nuts
Seaweed sheets
-
Sweet snacks would have to include those caramels with the artificial sugar center
Smarties
SweeTarts
Jolly Ranchers
Lemon Drops
Goo-Goo Clusters
Bite-sized Charleston Chews
Chocolate-covered cherries from the bins at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's
Trail mix with chocolate chips or M&M's in them
Heck, whatever you're serving.
-
Snacks I like to make include roasting pumpkin seeds, candied and savory pecans and other nuts, dips to go with vegetables.
-
My latest addiction is from Stacy's, which has released a chocolate pita chip, which is both salty and slightly sweet. I found them at a dollar store and became addicted. Then I found them for sale 9 bags for 99 cents and I stocked up.
-
Four!
-
Watching a not-exciting documentary of Nelson Algren. I didn't know that he had a relationship with Simone de Beauvoir, but the documentary makers aren't showing a man who walked on the wild side. Perhaps he didn't, but it does a disservice to his raw, muscular, pulpy prose, which I really like.
-
Page four? It's gonna get UGLY around here real soon.
-
Finished with my viewing - a second helping of Lady in the Car With Glasses and a Gun the new version. I just really like this film a lot - I bought the Blu-ray after watching on Netflix.
-
Made a Ramos Gin Fizz tonight. Not a drink I usually go for because it can be sweet, but tonight was calling for it.
-
And I had the ingredients at home.
-
My friend Mickey gave me six cases of cookbooks that Glenn and she had collected through the years.
-
I've been going through a few of them to sort out and see what I want and what I will donate to the library.
-
I want most of them.
-
There are some great Texas cookbooks I didn't have, plus some wonderful books (not just cookbooks) on the Southwest, especially New Mexico. But there was also a cookbook from a fabled Louisville restaurant called The Old House. That's a treasure.
-
Now if I only had time to cook.
-
One of the more disgusting recipes I found is one that I'm going to make soon. It's called Big Red Cake.
You make a yellow cake and then poke it before topping with a mix of strawberry gelatin and Big Red soda (a true San Antonio favorite). Then you top it with a layer of instant vanilla pudding. But you're not through yet, folks. You finish it off with a layer of Cool Whip on top.
That's so nasty on so many levels and I will probably love every bite.
-
Good night, all.
-
Overheard at Big Lots today:
Woman 1: What are lentils?
Woman 2: Jewish food.
Huh?
This is news to me ;D
I had a lentil burger last night at a vegetarian restaurant.
-

So am I.

I had better not try these 😁

One of my Facebook friends has been evacuated from her home. It seems Calabasas is burning :(
VIBES THEY GET GET THE FIRE UNDER CONTROL VERY SOON!
-
A man crashed his car into a power pole and started the fire-scary.
-
Bruce, has the smoke reached you?
-
We can see the smoke - it's VERY close to Sami's house. They keep sending me photos. They haven't had to evacuate yet.
-
What is this damn page four malarky? It's going to get UGLY in here in a few minutes. I mean Rondo Hatton ugly.
-
I've been very good about resting my voice and body tonight.
-
I had an omelet and a bagel earlier and some Tootsie Roll things - but really not more than about eight hundred calories all in.
-
Plus I jogged, so there's that.
-
Good evening!
-
I just returned home.
-
Tonight my friend Tracy and I went to dinner.
-
Then we went to see the second night of AVENUE Q.
-
It was a charming little show.
-
One more post.
-
5 (five)
-
There were a few things that went on during AVENUE Q that had never been done on the Lakewood Playhouse stage before.
-
The language was not a problem.
-
But the audience handled it all in stride.
-
Surprisingly, there were no children in the audience.
-
We can see the smoke - it's VERY close to Sami's house. They keep sending me photos. They haven't had to evacuate yet.
Major vibes they don't have to evacuate!
-
I need to type faster.
-
It was almost a full house.
-
Rather surprising for the first weekend.
-
The show should do very well.
-
I just returned home.
I just got home about 20 minutes ago.
-
I expect the reviews well be positive, for the most part.
-
The movie, "Idiocracy," was pretty funny...quite ridiculous, but funny.
-
I'd read a headline to an article posted on FB not too long ago that said that "Idiocracy" was becoming a documentary. Sadly, I think they were right.
-
Auditions for IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE have been announced.
-
They are scheduled for September 25 & 26.
-
It seems a little early for a show that opens the day after Thanksgiving.
