I need top hit the market and pharmacy this morning. Then I will settle into the Moross and try to finish up Gentlemen, Be Seated! today.

My comment on the HAMILTON hype on Facebook dragged everything up from friends and enemies on their likes and dislikes about the show, so I'm taking it down.
I have no problem with the show, but I am indeed sick of the media blitz of hype, which comes from the production office, not the show's creators, and this outrageous $800+ ticket price, which is criminal.
-
It's interesting to note about that post that the two who misinterpreted my comment about rap and hip-hop are two actors who never speak to me and spend most of their time on FB posting narcissistic selfies!

I cannot figure out why this cup of coffee tastes like detergent.

Hot Saturday!
I got tired reading DR CILLA LIZ's posts!
I will take some photos of my AC and post in a bit DR JEANNE.

DR JEANNE here is my portable AC and a photo of the vent in the window. I have a casement window, so it is easy to place, but I think it would work just as well with a regular window.

Don't mind the duct tape, that's from last year. It wasn't needed, but I haven't removed it yet.
There is a small tube on the back where I drain the water each morning....usually about half a water bottle full.
-
A good Saturday morning to y'all.
-
Got to sleep in ... at last!
I've needed that for several days and it just refused to happen till today.
-
I could really use a big ol' IHOP or diner breakfast this morning, but I have no desire to get dressed and leave the house. Maybe later. I'm enjoying some toast with butter and honey.

What a bizarre and disappointing Fantasticks BK speaks of.

There are a lot of lousy directors working on Broadway as well. There are as many in the professional theatre as in the community productions.

I have been to market and back. My shopping is over, the fruit washed, and everything put away. I have no more reasons to procrastinate the work for today.

The one I saw last month needed work in the Matt and Luisa department, but the correct spirit was entirely there. Unfortunately, it had Ethel Toffelmeir at the piano.

The forecasts for today, as of yesterday and still early this morning: "82 degrees and sunny, with the chance of a thunderstorm".
The reality: Rain all morning, cloudy, still chance of more rain, and we're not even getting to 70 degrees.
Isn't it amazing how that works?

It sure is ;D

Since it's going to be a heat index of over 100 I knew I had to get up early and do chores. Got the laundry done and deep cleaned most of the living room. I had a lot of clutter to wade through. Now I can just sit for awhile.
-
I started looking for my glue stick to work on my art project for movie night and that lead to cleaning up my living room. I still didn't find the glue stick, so I'm off to the store to get some art supplies. Most of my friends are artists, so we often make art projects and get sparkling prizes for the favorites. Tonight we are all working from the same picture of Nicholas Cage. I'm doing a mobile of little Nicholas Cage heads. I have them ready to glue together, cut and make into a mobile, just need a glue stick and a few other supplies. Better run and get them
-
Interesting mobile ;D
-
I'm up, I'm up - fell asleep around three and just got up, so nine and a half hours of sleep. Too soon to really tell but I think I'm feeling better.

I've just finished the huge Moross No. 19 "From Atlanta to The Sea," in which a group of Union soldiers marching with General Sherman encounter a group of slaves and accidentally kill one while trying to fire on the attacking Confederate soldiers. It's the longest number in the score, going from comedy, a turkey chase, a huge ensemble of freed slaves to the tragedy. Lotta sections, a lotta notes, and a lotta lyrics to be proofed. The last three numbers are a breeze.
-
Facebook just put this on my page:
Jane, Russia is playing England
Let your friends know if you're watching
Then it asked me to post the score.
Ummm.....I'm guessing this is soccer game ;D

Saturday afternoon greetings! Richard and I were downtown before 11am to drop off a box at the "shredding truck" that was parked in a funeral home parking lot. Then we went to what used to be the Masonic Temple and is now a community art center where they teach kids' summer classes. I've been helping my friend Margie get her lending library together for the sessions that start on Monday. Then we went to our framer and picked up one of 2 pieces that she'd framed for us. We left the other one with her to be redone, because she did not follow my directions for an oval-cut matte. Came home, ate lunch, and then went to visit Mom and to the grocery. In our 90+ degree heat, with high humidity, that's enough for me for today.

Here is a picture from 2002, when I played the upstairs neighbor on the make in BAREFOOT IN THE PARK. Someone in this picture is wearing a wig.

B I G P I C T U R E
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Thanks for the photos, Jack. I have casement windows here. The screen is on the inside and the window opens out. In order to install the window AC unit, the handyman had to remove a section of a picture window. He's a good handyman it worked out fine, except that the unit isn't adequate. The more I think about this the more I expect flak from the manager, who tends to respond to all suggestions with an immediate NO. But I now have a better idea of what would need to happen.
-
This morning's drama: our thieves broke into our mailboxes again. Apparently, they are under the misapprehension that we receive our mail very early in the day. In reality, we are lucky if we receive it at all, and when we do get it it's not until evening.
-
We also have an ongoing battle with people who park blocking our driveway. It's narrow to start with. We have a new Metro station nearby and I think that will make the problem worse. My next-door neighbor doesn't hesitate to call to get them towed. I think I'll have to start doing so, too. Sigh.
-
We actually had a little rain this morning. Sprinkles, mostly. Still welcome, just the same.
-
DR JEANNE - I have the exhaust hose in vertically, but for a casement window, it could go horizontally.
The part that fits in the window is about 30 inches long.
-
Can you tell I'm feeling just a little stressed? Ugh!
-

So, even though portable, the unit needs to be within 3 feet or so of a window. I'll see what I can come up with.
-
Happy Saturday vibes to all.
-
Jack, is that wide of an exhaust hose needed? Did it come with the unit? A smaller diameter hose would make things a bit easier. Hum...
-
Yes, nice to see Cilla here.
-
I did the laundry, but must take care of some cleaning. It won't all get done--THAT I know--but I'll attempt to do some of it.

TTFN.

Two Moross number to go. Mañana.

Very nice photo and clipping, Jrand!

Can a camera be put up so that they'll be caught?

Back from a sad visit to Mystery and Imagination Books, where other dealers have already picked the shelves of anything decent - like little vultures circling their prey. Christine loved the notes I wrote about the shop, and I walked around looking at stuff and bought a couple of books for old times' sake.

Definitely feeling better. Had some rice just now and a bagel.

I've been told that it's been looked into and is quite expensive. I can't believe that something more can't be done, but when I tried to discuss it with the manager this morning I got nowhere. She's very locked into old ways of thinking. Also, the problem must be widespread--not just this building. I've spoken to the police, but they were rather blasé. Can the thieves open the boxes at the Post Office? Supposedly they have a copy of the master key. It just seems to me that something more can and should be done. The police even say they know who the couple is.
-
Glad you're feeling better, Bruce. Maybe you need to be a bit more careful about what you eat? ;)

Yes, nice to see Cilla here.
thank you

Time to pack up my five Nicholas Cage heads and go to the party. It's Raising Arizona tonight. I'm half way tempted to stay home. It's so hot out and these friends are the kind who sit outside and just deal with it. UGH
-
I think I'll go and take the Nicholases, maybe have a cocktail and then come home. We'll see. Better run

Page three? Really?

I saw a community theater production down in Portland, Oregon many years ago where they added dancers...and mothers! They split each of the father's lines between each set of parents. I knew the director/music director. He also did the same thing at a theater in Ohio. There was a big article in the local paper and the rights holders found out. They sent a cease-and-decist letter and (rightly) had to fire the dancers and the mothers.
Talk about wrong on every level.

Today, I've been at home just watching episodes of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" I have three episodes left and then this DVR is empty. I still have my other DVR, which still has a lot of stuff on it.

I think I remember that the script for The Fantasticks states emphatically that The Mute is not to be dressed as a clown. Not long after playing that role in the DR Elmore-directed production here in Middletown, I saw a Miami University production in which The Mute was costumed in baggy clothes with 3 big clown pom-poms down the front. Now, we all know, The Mute should look like this:

The headband makes me think she is wearing a fall, not a wig. I had one of those when my hair was short. I don't know why they were called a fall instead of hair attachment-lol

One syllable versus four? Just a thought.

And we're starting!
-
We have about 22 people, but they're a good audience. :)
-
Good evening. Had fun at the party but it was stifling hot outside....and we were outside. My Nick head mobile won first place! My prize was a completed paint by number that had been embellished as a part of a fundraiser. It's not one I was fond of, but I will keep it for a future white elephant. It's all kind of a joke. The second place was someone who did her's on black paper with just Nick's eyes in whilte she called it "Nick at Night"
-
Break a leg to your cast and crew DR George
-
I wasn't in the mood to sit outside with the bugs biting to watch Raising Arizona. They didn't start the movie until almost 10:00 pm. That makes a late night
-
Intermission!
-
And now, it's act two!
-
Actually that is ALL lovely Silvana's hair....she was a lot of fun to work with and looked great in the period clothes and hairstyles....LOL.....me not so much. HA!
Oh Little Women est mort!
-
Yes DR JEANNE that is what it came with, but the vent itself is much small can could fit into a smaller space....I just attached it to the holder to fit my window.
The vent is just there at the bottom less than 10 inches.....
-
And now to bed!
-
Page four? Really?
-
Sad feelings about the M/I bookstore......some things that leave NEVER come back....they should be appreciated while they are here.....like people......
-
Had our ALS meeting, then it was too late to really start watching anything. I may go out for a bite to eat in a bit - nausea is completely gone. And I've only had a bagel and some rice, so I'm ready for something mild but good.
-
I'm home and have fed myself.
-
I'm now going to watch the last three episodes of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" that I had recorded.
-
I love this show.
-
Mist of the guys (except for Drew Carey) have come to Olympia on tour.
-
They were absolutely hysterical!
-
Every time!

Seeing them live is a completely difference...

Gratuitous Post #111!

Good evening!

Hi, Tom!
-
Sorry I was gone today.
-
Why is this site so slow tonight?
-
I have been down in George-country at the stage reading of a new play.
-
I have been down in George-country at the stage reading of a new play.
Where? Which play?
-
The show has a great deal of potential.
-
It is a romantic comedy about a transgender woman.
-
It is good for this playwright to hear the show being done in front of some average theater goers.
-
I wanted to see it. Here's an article about it:
http://www.theolympian.com/entertainment/arts-culture/article82859572.html
-
Do you know Kendra?
-
The play has some good things going for it, but it does need work.
-
Here's an actual review:
http://alecclayton.blogspot.com/2016/06/life-is-complicated_10.html
-
I hope that she can work through the problems and then bring it back as a full-production.
-
Do you know Kendra?
I know who she is and she was around the theater at times when I was in "Laughing Stock" last year and ran the sound for "Circle Mirror Transformation," earlier this year. We've also become FB friends recently.
-
I hope that she can work through the problems and then bring it back as a full-production.
That would be pretty cool.
-
Yes, I read Alec's review.
-
The show had a very nice set.
-
I had never been to that theater before.
-
And I could probably never find the place again.
-
And I won the theater raffle tonight.
-
And I could probably never find the place again.
I know. It wasn't until probably the third production that I did out there that I felt comfortable going there without printing directions.
-
And I won the theater raffle tonight.
Cool! What did you win?
-
Two tickets to a future production at OLT and my name goes in the hamper for the grand prize of a 2 night theater package in Portland, Oregon.

Sure, I win two tickets to a theater that is about as easy to find as Brigadoon.
-
But it is a very nice little theater.

Well, maybe a local who finally knows how to get there can accompany you.

I lost George.

No...just looking at FB for a moment.
-
Do you have a matinee tomorrow?
-
At least we got to page 6!
-
Do you have a matinee tomorrow?
Nope. We have the day off. I'm supposed to meet a couple of friends for lunch, but one hasn't confirmed. We'll see if we do meet.
-
You should go see LIFE IS COMPLICATED, but come to think of it, I think I heard they are sold out tomorrow

I think it's safe to assume that the last show of a short run would be sold out.

Probably, but you never know.

Why will you be on your tablet?

Why will you be on your tablet?
Yes, I will. I didn't read that correctly. I'll be on my tablet because my new(ish) big screen TV is still up in my bedroom and my desktop computer is downstairs.
