Well, you've read the notes, the notes were unseen, and now it is time for you to post until the unseen cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PARANYMPH!
-
First post after BK!
-
Well, I enjoyed the Tony Awards. I thought James Corden did a pretty good job of keeping things moving, and his opening number (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PRVwHP__qMM) was fun.
-
Well, I hate to say it, but I have to go to sleep. I need to be at work early for a meeting with our new business manager and someone from the local bank that the library uses. Our new business manager is making some changes (for the better) and this meeting is about one of those changes.
-
Good nght, Tom.
-
Good night, George.
-
Powerfully written notes, BK.
-
Well, anyway, congrats to George on the millstone/plateau of 57,000.
-
Because a person should celebrate Everything passing by.
-
BK - what a beautiful quote of that song in the notes!
-
Good morning to all
-
Good morning, all!
-
First thing today, laundry.
-
DR George, yes, the lyrics from HAMILTON were indeed censored. What bothers me is, then why the Bleep perform it? Surely something in the show doesn't need to be blocked for broadcast censorship.
I could make neither head nor tail of the number from the broadcast.
-
After laundry, I need to take something to be printed to Staples. At 1:45, I'm meeting Joshie at the Town Hall stage door to see the dress for tonight's Irish Rep benefit of FINIAN'S RAINBOW. Joshie has orchestrated it for string quintet, harp, piano, flute, clarinet and bassoon, maybe a horn, and drums. I want to hear what je's accomplished.
-
I think the loss of Tony wins may mean the closing of BRIGHT STAR and I'm sorry about that. Everything depends now, I think, on whether the broadcast promotes a rise in ticket sales. I hope it can run.
DR JohnG, I think Carmen Cusack should be inb a LADY IN THE DARK revival. She's the perfect Liza Eliot.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Sorry to have missed being here last night.
I saw some of the Tony broadcast and will ketchup with the rest via DVR later.
-
It was great to see Rob Berman and company.
-

OMG, that sounds fascinating.
-
Is it already Monday again? I'm not ready fro it. And I missed the Tony's last night
-
The laundry is now in the washers. I kept thinking, one black sock? I found the other under a bathroom shelf after I started the washers. Damnation!
-
Time to tidy up.
-
And more coffee.
-
Damnation!
And Hell!
-
TOD:
Loved the opening number, as well as the songs from BRIGHT STAR and SHUFFLE ALONG.
I know that HAMILTON is supposed to be the greatest show to come along since the invention of chopped liver, but I am really not a fan of rap music. I've heard the entire score and I'm sure it's great, but it is just not my thing.
-
Powerfully written notes, BK.
I agree.
-
Laundry is finished. I need to tidy up a bit.
-
HAMILTON is not my thing either.....I think it will get old very fast.....but it still has a considerable shelf time left....
I do not look forward to HAMILTON JR and HIGH SCHOOL HAMILTON and YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD HAMILTON....which will proliferate sooner or later.
-
PAGE TWO

I watched the Tony Awards, but I didn't feel much like posting.....so I stayed away. I thought it was okay....no big surprises or glitches.....except the guy from SHE LOVES ME singing the first part of his song in the dark.....and one guy running out with a microphone on a stand for someone......
I didn't think Laura Benanti was a very good Amalia.....she sang and acted like she was in GREASE.
I liked the FIDDLER number.
SPEAKING of censored.....the signing during SPRING AWAKENING was much rougher than what the singers were singing....WOW!!!

I loved Benanti in GYPSY and in the Encores! MOST HAPPY FELLA but I wasn't convinced by her Amalia. I also don't know if she gets off that high B so quickly because it isn't secure or it's Gemignani's lousy musical direction.
-
I've now made a phone follow-up to my email yesterday about renting a piano studio for Wednesday, and I'm bothered that no one has got back to me. It's hard to schedule if you have no idea the space is available.
-
I'm up, I'm up, barely, but I slept very well and probably would have slept another two hours - but someone's coming by at ten or so I've been told. If they don't come by at ten I will be annoyed and then probably go back to bed.
-
I'm afraid to go look at the notes, so I won't. :)
-
I've been told that tickets for HAMILTON (at the box-office) are going for over $800.00.
True?
Who would pay that to see any show?
-
Not I.
I'm told tickets will start at $200 per seat when the show arrives in San Francisco. Did I want to reserve one now?
Hell, no!
-
I am a bit ticked to read all these Facebook snarks about the Tony Awards going to people of color and sending a message to Oscar.
I think that if Oscar wants to reward people of color, there will have to be better films featuring people of color in order to do so.
The last great film with people of color I saw was "The Help". I wanted all the actresses to win the Oscar for that. Those were deserving nominations and performances.
A "Hamilton" is not "the usual" fare one gets on Broadway. Perspective -- and a lot of it -- is needed. Even "Shuffle Along" looked strong and deserving to me.
-
I think HAMILTON put in Premium Seats at $849 last week.....who knows WHAT they will actually cost someone who wants to buy them if they can't get to the box office?
-
The notes were very thought provoking, MR BK....saying things that many of us were thinking.
-
All people are people of color in the grand scheme of things. :)
-
Ten o'clock person was a no-show, so I could have slept another hour or two. Oh well.
-
I so enjoyed my chicken stroganoff at that restaurant yesterday that I'm gonna make a batch myself today. Over rice, I think.
-

Glad to hear it. I always worry about this stuff because I so rarely do it.
-
Well, anyway, congrats to George on the millstone/plateau of 57,000.
Thanks, Fred!
-
I watched the opening number linked here and thought it was fun. Didn't like the choreography much - who did it? Tired of people flipping for no reason. I have had it with flipping for no reason and yet I, just for run, flipped for no reason.
-
It has been my experience that if you use a dance teacher as a choreographer, you will get a lot of flipping and splits.
-
It has been my experience that if you use a dance teacher as a choreographer, you will get a lot of flipping and splits.
There are several local dance studios and one more than the others relies heavily on flips and other assorted gymnastic moves. :P
-
The IMDB page lists a hairstylists for the Tony Awards show last night, but it does not list a choreographer.
-
No, Bruce -- your notes for today are inspiring and inspired. I have "shared" a link to them with others.
-
Monday afternoon greetings! I was outta here before 9am for a long breakfast visit with Becky, followed by some shopping at Hobby Lobby. Came home for lunch and then went over to visit my friend Margie. She's recovering from a broken leg and I've been helping her with the art library she maintains for Art Central Foundation.
-
Margie gave me a "thank you" gift for helping her with the library:
Color Your Park Coloring Book (http://store.findyourpark.com/products/hit-record-coloring-book)
I took my collages to show her and she gave me an A+ on them! She's quite an accomplished artist, so that means a lot.
-
And I am off to the first ON GOLDEN POND blocking rehearsal....only two actors in for tonight! So hopefully they will be prepared.
-
Home from Town Hall. Josh's work is really wonderful, and I think tonight's audience will enjoy the concert. Max von Essen is too weird for me to deal with, but I think Malcolm Getz, Melissa Errico, and Jim Norton are fine. It was good to see Jim. i haven't seen him since the Broadway revival of FINIAN'S RAINBOW closed and i really love him. There were several other friends in the performance but I didn't get to say hello. There was too much to accomplish before tonight.
-
Let's see: Went to the framers with the Collier's cover art. Went to Gelson's. Came home and made what in essence was chicken stroganoff and it was most tasty.
-
Then I'd forgotten I had a meeting with Kay Cole, so she came and we did that and that was fun. And now I'm sitting on the couch watching a good documentary about Tab Hunter.
-
Hello!
-
The notes were great, BK.
-
I thought the Tony Awards was entertaining on the whole.
-
Page 3!
-
Page 3?
-
I would have loved to have seen Finian's Rainbow tonight.
-
And now, I must be off to my parents' house. My mom's youngest brother and his wife are visiting from Germany. I don't know for how long, but I'm sure for a week or two.
-
I also don't know if they speak English, or if my mom will have to translate everything. I'll find out soon enough.
Until later.
-
Have a nice evening DR George.
-
Page three? Really?
-
And barely page three at that? Really?
-
Good evening!
-

Amen.
-
Good evening, all.
-
Where is everybody?
-
Donde esta todo la gente?
-
Wo sind Alle?
-
Ou sont tout?
-
TCB is here!
-
I would have loved to have seen Finian's Rainbow tonight.
Me, too.
-
Instead, I'm watching something called Beat Street. It's like an early hip-hop/break dancing movie.
-
It's got Mary Alice. But she doesn't break dance.
That's an image I don't need.
-
I am waiting impatiently for my pain pill and muscle relaxer to kick in.
-
One of the nicer moments of the weekend was that the owners of the Arthur Murray studio where I now practice got engaged during the competition.
Ricardas got down on one need and proposed. HollyAnn accepted. Very sweet.
They also placed fourth in the pro competition, which is a lot better than I thought. I mean, I like them but I thought they would come in seventh or eighth because the competition was fierce.
-
It was bumper to bumper traffic coming back from Sandy's place this afternoon.
-
I picked Sandy up today and took him up to Snoqualmie Casino for their lunch buffet.

Doesn't that make them your aunt and uncle?

He was feeling pretty good today. Tomorrow he finds out if the chemo has done any good at all.

Yes, but in my family, that's how we refer to people.
Mom: Your father didn't take his medicine.
Me: Tell his daughter. She's there. Maybe she can get him to take it.
Mom: Your father's sister is coming to visit.
Me: Well, tell your sister-in-law to get him to take it.
-
Four!
-
The lunch buffet is very good and during the week it is a bargain for us old folks at $10.95.
-

He was feeling pretty good today. Tomorrow he finds out if the chemo has done any good at all.
Continuing to send prayers.
-
I kept asking him if he was getting tired.
-
A very young Tanya Pinkins just had a couple of lines in Beat Street. Don't know if she'll get to sing.
-
Finally, I was the one who said we should get going so I could avoid the rush hour traffic.
-
Too late.

Thank you, John.

I did get a good bit of news today. I was approved for a promotion. I don't know what it means (other than more work), but it's nice that the approval happened.
-
Sandy said he was so glad to get out of the house for something other than a doctor's appointment.
-
He asked me if I would go to Las Vegas with him for a few days.
-
I kind of feel like I should.

Congratulations!!
-
Thank you, sir.
-
I think a trip to Vegas could be fun for you, TCB.
-
One of my favorite parts of the casino buffet is their roast turkey.
-
We are talking real turkey breast.
-
Actually everything on the buffet was really good and fresh.
-
And best of all, the casino was not crowded today.
-
I am watching the NBA finals again.
-
Don't ask me why.
-
Tomorrow, I need to see if I can find my camera and get some photos of my new furniture!
-
I think a trip to Vegas could be fun for you, TCB.
Well, I don't want him to go by himself.
-
My muscle relaxer kicked in and let me tell you in was none too happy about it.
-
Not that he isn't capable.
-
It just doesn't seem like much fun.
-
My muscle relaxer kicked in and let me tell you in was none too happy about it.
Well, kick him back.
-
The complete Cop Rock arrived at the library. I am going to give it a try.
The only thing I remember about the show is that Ronnie Cox was in it. And they sang.
-
BK, I said late last night that I thought your notes were very powerful.
-
The complete Cop Rock arrived at the library. I am going to give it a try.

How many episodes make up the complete COP ROCK?
-
Five!

I think 9.
-
That is nine more than I have ever seen.
-
I hope Vixmom isn't still at work.
-
Uh-oh. 75 minutes into Beat Street and the dance war is on. Lots of flips. Maybe this is where it began.
-
What is BEAT STREET?
-
A movie that Harry Belafonte produced back in the 1980s that was sort of a musical with break dancing, hip hop and dances mixes in it. The music is really good but the music stops too long for the convoluted plot to kick in.
-
Gee, I wonder how I missed that.
-
Gee, I wonder how I missed that.
Yeah. Well, 32 years later, I'm doing a little catch-up myself.
-
That hurts. 1984 was 32 years ago.

The big number is a little too 80s to believe. But as the title says, Believe It.
-
Wow, I was 34, 32 years ago.
-
It's past my bed time.
Good night, all.

I left the office at 12:12

I don't want to play this game anymore

Now I want to play the one where I win the mega millions and never have to work again.
-
Have a nice evening DR George.
Thanks, Jane! We did.

Good night, Vixmom.

Right now, I'm watching the first episode of a new show called "BrainDead," and Beth Malone's name was in the opening credits. I just saw her as a news broadcaster. Here's a synopsis from IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4877736/reference):
A young, fresh-faced Hill staffer gets her first job in Washington, D.C. to discover two things: The government has stopped working, and alien spawn have come to earth and eaten the brains of a growing number of Congressmen and Hill staffers.
-
I wasn't interested.
-
There are several other theater actors in the cast...Jan Maxwell, Megan Hilty, Nikki M. James and Aaron Tveit.
-
'night
-
Jane, I didn't know you were here. Good night.
-
I'm watching the season finale of "Grey's Anatomy" and it's supposed to be raining in Seattle, but they, like far too many shows that are set in Seattle but filmed in L.A., have thunder sounding throught the whole episode. That kind of thunder RARELY happens here in the PNW.
