Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no shade, and now it is time for you to post until the 110 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HELIOLATRY!
-
Good morning.
-
Everyone must have been sleeping when the notes went up.
-
I was.
-
I slept until 4:00, not too bad.
-
Good morning to all

RE JERSEY MIKE'S
I happen to like it better than SUBWAY. I find their meats fresher tasting. They also have hot subs that I find tasty. (Phillies [steak and chicken], Pastrami Reuben)
I have even tried the ITALIAN grilled. Give them another try and choose another sub.
And the best thing is that they will make it without the bread and put it in a tub. If you are gleuten sensative.

TOD
My #1: Murder By Decree
other favorites: The 7% Solution, The Hounds of the Baskerville (Peter Cushing)
The Basil Rathbone series before they became contemporary.
I also enjoy listening to old radio verison of the stories including voics of John Gielgud as Holmes and Ralph Richardson as Watson and Orsen Welles as Moriarity.
Rathbone and Nigel Bruce also did it on the radio with Tom Conway taking over later for Rathbone.
I also enjoyed the spoofs With A Clue and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother

Good morning, all.
-
Good morning. It's gonna be a long day.
-
A sort of toss-and-turny night, but not a horrible one, just a weird one.
I have a ME day today, in which to transition back into regular life for a while. I have about four weeks till next show.
-
Which just goes to show that, as opposed to the likes of DR George, I am not the busiest man in show business. :)
-
Good morning, all!
-
Beginning today, my calendar is completely empty between now and July 25 when I have an eye appointment. I'm regarding it as a lot of time to work on GUYS & DOLLS.
-
I have absolutely no new today.
-
Thanks for clarifying the Vegas trip, DR TCB!
-
I need to make the bed and get to work.
-
I was too zonked to post last night, but I must give a shout-out to vixmom for the great beach pictures of the vixfamily.
-
If I can get my act together, I shall see about uploading a little photographic evidence of my own from the past week.
-
Beginning today, my calendar is completely empty between now and July 25 when I have an eye appointment.
I am overdue for a day in the city. Perhaps, a mini-HHW get-together sometime in the next few weeks?
-
I think my very next adventure is going to be running out for a couple of bagels and some yummy cream cheese spread.
-
TOD:
THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES
THE SCARLET CLAW
THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES (Hammer version)
WITHOUT A CLUE
-
What is the theme of the next Kritzerland show?
-
Beginning today, my calendar is completely empty between now and July 25 when I have an eye appointment.
I am overdue for a day in the city. Perhaps, a mini-HHW get-together sometime in the next few weeks?
Please keep me in the loop if this could happen!

It is hot.....at least I think it's hot, until I click DR LAURA's link.
-
The only SH story I have read is "The Hound......." which I liked.
I have seen many of the Basil Rathbone films....some of which were okay.....
My favorite SH films are....."The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes" and the two new ones with Robert Downey, Jr.
The tv series ELEMENTARY is fun.....the Cumberbatch Holmes is okay....
-
Tonight we do Act One Scene Three.....with five people....the most people in any scene of the play.....
-
I think I shall remain very happy and content with my mid-80s highs this week.
-
DR Jeanne, we have been watching MIRANDA. At times I can't believe I'm laughing hysterically at her antics ;D
Last night we watched the first episode of THE BROKENWOOD MYSTERIES and plan to continue watching.
Thanks for the recommendation:)
-
Good morning. It was 93 degrees at 4:30 a.m. when I got into the car to head for the mountain.
-
Happy Monday to all and one.
-
Congratulations to all Ohioans for the Cavaliers' NBA championship.
This means that all the behind-the-scenes activity the past couple of weeks preparing a parade for the Warriors was totally unnecessary (last year, they waited until the Warriors won to plan everything). Oh, well. At least I won't have to take a day off just to avoid the parade.
Sigh.
-
BK had brutal heat yesterday. Some of that will afflict the northern parts of the state today and in the days to come.
Happy, Happy that I have portable air conditioners at home.
-
DR JRand65, I feel like an idiot since i've forgotten. What are you rehearsing now?
-
I am directing ON GOLDEN POND.
-
I look forward to the photographs from DR CHAS SMITH.
-
I am directing ON GOLDEN POND.
Thank you! I remember that now.
-
DR Jeanne, how hot did it get on your side of town yesterday?
-
It is currently 66 degrees here. It should be a little bit warmer here than it was yesterday where our high was 79 degrees.
-
I'm up, I'm up - only four hours of sleep.
-
However as DR JOHN G said recently....it's like herding cats.....
-
Okay, let's try a little photographic evidence. I don't know how big or small these are going to be, so here goes.
First, the rustic theater setting.
A bit of history about the theater itself is at: http://abbeyofreginalaudis.org/visit-theater.html
-
The ACT ONE set - with part of the trappings for The Beloved Bandit sequence in the third picture:
-
Sister Margaret Georgina, a member of the General George Patton family, is a wonderful person to talk with on just about anything, she's crazy about musical theater, and she insisted on taking this one. That's her, below, preparing to assist the videographer on the night they filmed. (The theater records for posterity only and doesn't share the videos except for posting a snippet or two on their web site at some point.)
-
Finally, thank God, some sheep.

-
Nice photos, DR ChasSmith!
-
It's only 79 degrees in Oakland as of 2:30 p.m. Some parts of Southern California are absolutely sweltering right now. It's over 120 degrees in Rancho Mirage where BK's good friend Nick Redman lives.
Our week looks not to be unduly warm as it now stands. Highest highs will be in the lower 80s in mid-week.
-
Almost forgot -- the sheeps' lovely guard llama, Tinkerbell.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
first things first: the weather
According to Weather Underground, it was 91 degrees here yesterday and a high of 88 today.
My apartment is running between 82 and 86, with AC on high and the fan on. Thankfully, the next few days should be cooler.
-
Great pictures, ChasSmith!
-
This is a test post to test the time stamp.
-
That worked. I adjusted the "Time Offset" in my profile under "Look and Layout" to 0.19 and it's pretty much the correct time for me. The "Current forum time" is still off by a couple of minutes, but the posting time is much more accurate. :)

Topic of the Day:
The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother
The Seven Percent Solution
There's a 3-man stage version of "The Hound of the Baskervilles (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDtACYReQew)" that TAO (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLqzuBkgwN0) did a few years ago. It's inspired by The Reduced Shakespeare Company's (abridged) shows, but it's not by them. It's hysterical!
-
DR Jeanne, we have been watching MIRANDA. At times I can't believe I'm laughing hysterically at her antics ;D
Last night we watched the first episode of THE BROKENWOOD MYSTERIES and plan to continue watching.
Thanks for the recommendation:)
You're welcome. Glad you're enjoying it.
Miranda Hart is amazing. I've never been a fan of slapstick comedy. Even as a child I didn't like the Three Stooges. Yet MH does some of the same sorts of things and I'm laughing out loud. She really pulls it off. There's an empathy factor; I feel for her in a way I never felt for the Three Stooges.
-
Enjoyed the photos, Chas.
And I noted the cap.
-
There's nothing like hot weather to make a person feel like doing nothing. I have plenty here that I need to do, but all motivation is gone, I think. I was busy this morning, though, then went out for tacos. Heat just saps my energy.
-
TOD:
My first SH "story" must have been something on TV when I was a child. I've read most, if not all, the stories, and have seen many movies and TV shows. I've enjoyed them all. I like both SHERLOCK and ELEMENTARY, completely different takes, but both work, IMO.

Monday evening greetings! We've had a lovely day of sightseeing in Nashville! We took a taxi downtown where we joined an Old Town Trolley tour at stop 3 in front of the Johnny Cash Museum. Rode the whole tour and finally bought tickets back at stop 1. Started over and rode as far as Ryman Auditorium, where we got off to take the backstage tour and eat a late lunch in the nice cafe. Got back on the trolley and rode all the way around again with a different guide. Shopped a bit at the GooGoo Cluster store and walked to the nearest hotel for a taxi back to our hotel (out by the airport).
-
Oh, look, I found Page 3!
-
Enjoyed the photos, Chas.
And I noted the cap.
Oh right, I forgot! One of four. I rotated them.

This is a test post to test the time stamp.
Thanks for the reminder to do this.

Back from all manner of things. Had a Chinese chicken salad and a bagel for lunch, then we did a Costco run and then picked up a couple of tiny packages. At Costco I bought a new vacuum cleaner - very lightweight, inexpensive, and, best of all, these days no need for bags to buy and throw away, and why they hadn't thought of that before is anyone's guess. I've had the same vacuum cleaner since I moved in there almost twelve years ago, so it was time and I think she of the Evil Eye will be delighted after she learns how to use it - the helper's coming Saturday morning to show her.
-
My time stamp seems to be off by about fifty minutes - is that accurate? I can try to figure out how to fix that.
-
This is a test. When I changed my time stamp nothing changed on my profile page.

;D I never liked the Three Stooges either.
You just gotta love her expressions when she looks into the camera at us. Though totally different from the Chummy character she still has that endearing quality about her.

There were vacuum cleaners like this, they just weren't as good or as popular as they are now.

Current forum time, at least on my screen is an hour ahead of PST. Is that because I need to adjust something?
-
Adjusted mine by going to 0 and now all is well.

Page three? Really?

When you get home you will have to watch Nashville, the greatest film of the 1970s in my book!

Time check test post!

YAY!!!

My time clock was only 13 minutes slow before I corrected it.

Good evening!

With all this talk about the time shown on this site, I finally changed mine to Eastern time (from Pacific).

Page 3?

Nice photos, DR ChasSmith!

It reached 90 degrees today, but didn't seem too bad since the humidity was fairly low.
-
Unbelievable temps in CA and AZ!
-
One more.

Page 4!

Our very own Nick Redman is in Rancho Mirage - 122 degrees.

One of my faves, too, DR Elmore! And it will be fun to watch again now that we've seen these places in person. Also want to watch some of the biopics - Coal Miner's Daughter, Sweet Dreams, etc.
-
DR Jane, we'd never been here, either. I'd come again, but maybe in the spring or fall because it's pretty hot now. It could have been worse, but we weren't much interested in a lot of outdoor walking.

The first time that I'd heard of the Ryman Auditorium was in the TV show "Nashville." I didn't realize at first that it was a real place.

The things that I don't like about my bagless vacuum cleaner are the filter (I have to pound it on the ground outside to kind of clean it off every once in a while); and when I empty the collection chamber, the dust and debris can go all over the place. I hate that. :P

Ringo Starr performed there last night.

The are messy to empty, even the better ones.

The first time around on the trolley I was thinking it would be nice to hear some live music while we're here, but we're not much for nightlife and didn't want a loud, boozy place. Lo and behold, there was a nice young man named Matt Marinchick playing singing and playing quiet guitar in the cafe where we ate lunch. Just right!
-
Nice.

Amen. Every time I watch it, I'm more and more awestruck by how well Altman juggles the various stories and keeps the pace moving. It's more than 3 hours long and it feels less than half that length. And what a cast!
-
Great photos, ChasSmith.

A contractor at work is leaving tomorrow on his vacation. A road trip to California by way of Tuscon. I told him the temperatures and showed him DR Laura's picture of the thermometer. He's not so excited to be going any more.
-
Happy Summer Solstice, y'all.
-
Watching another laugh-free screwball comedy, "The Doctor Takes a Wife," with Loretta Young and Ray Milland.
The pacing, at least, is funny, or it feels as if it should be funny. The script doesn't work.
-
Long, long day at work, enlivened only by listening to Bright Star.
-
Post 110 for 110 in the Shade.
-
When I used to record books for the blind, I was assigned to read "Hound of the Baskervilles," It was quite riveting although I was not allowed to read it dramatically (which considering my acting skills was a probably a good thing).
-
I've been at work all day, but now it's past time for me to not be at work anymore. I'm heading home.
Be back later.
-
TOD:
In addition to many of the titles mentioned, I'd add "They Might Be Giants."
My favorite actors to play Holmes are Basil Rathbone, Benedict Cumberbatch, Nicol Williamson and Jeremy Brett.
-
All different, all Holmes in their way.
-
I just wrote my first restaurant review in ages.
-
It felt weird. But good. I need to get back into that swing again.
-
I also need to get to bed.
-
But not before a page change.
-
So here goes ...
-
Five!
-
Fell asleep for an hour. Finished with my viewing.
-
fell sleep goin to dbed gnighy
-
Good evening!
-
Happy first day of summer!
-
It was a beautiful day here today.
-
I think our high temp was only 76.
-
That is just about the perfect temperature for me.
-
It was really nice down here in Tumwater, too. :)
-
I thought that I had a union meeting tonight after work, but I got an e-mail that it was being cancelled...and it was for next Monday, anyway! I only got the e-mail about a half hour before I was going to leave for it.
-
When it rains it pours.
-
That is what you call a weather segue.
-
Last week I decided to go with Sandy to Vegas.
-
So today I get a call from the guy I went on the cruise with
last month a couple of months ago.
-
He was offered a free 7-day cruise in Europe and his wife can't go with him. So he wanted to know if I wanted to go with him.
-
Of course, nothing is ever really free.
-
There are the port charges which are $250.00.
-
Plus there is an administrative fee of $104.00, plus you can't forget the Tips which were $94.00
-
Then, even though the airfare to Europe and back are covered, you need to pay for the trip from Seattle to San Francisco and back, which is another $200.00.
-
So the free cruise is really $650.00 for a balcony cabin.
-
The cruise is roundtrip from Barcelona with stops in Rome, Naples, Pisa, Cannes, and some other place.
-
It was a great cruise, and it really is a great price; but I had to say no.
-
That's too bad, Tom.
-
It would have been wonderful, but, oh well.
-
Wow! We are having a big thunder and lightening storm right now.
-
It is moving away from us now and heading for downtown Seattle.
-
They hadn't been predicting any thunder storms tonight.
-
The Northwest has been having storms every night around the area, but had missed us completely until tonight.
-
Wow! We are having a big thunder and lightening storm right now.
Weird! I haven't heard any rain here, at all...and certainly not thunder.
-
It felt weird. But good. I need to get back into that swing again.
Good.

That is funny since you received it in time.

I was too lazy to get up out of bed and go watch the lightening.

But then, I'm also listening to Donald Feltham's The Broadway Radio Show (http://www.haineshisway.com/the-broadway-radio-show/) with his guest, our very own BK, talking about Eubie! (http://www.kritzerland.com/Eubie.htm), so I wouldn't have heard the rain, anyway.

Sorry.

I got a Whitman's Sampler a while back, and I finally opened it last week. Whitman really isn't very good chocolate.

Just went through the book room closet - or began to. So far I've unearthed some rather amazing stuff. Two conductor scores for movie cues - one by Ronald Stein for Dementia 13, one for Jerry Fielding from, I believe, Hogan's Heroes. I think I'll frame them. These are, of course, written in the composer's hand.
A gorgeous ORIGINAL photo of Natalie Wood, what I think they call a silver gelatin print by the legendary William Claxton - I believe this is one-of-a-kind and is from shoot she did for Cinema Magazine. While they didn't use this shot on that cover, this does have her holding a little ticket that says, "Cinema." Priceless. I could probably put that in an auction and do very well.
A photo copy of the first cue (after the main title) for James Bernard's The Hound of the Baskerville's score - signed to me.
A huge number of gorgeous color photos from the movie of Bells are Ringing - didn't even know I had them.
A signed lobby card from Ride the High Country - signed by Joel McCrea twice as the pen was running out of ink the first time.
Some original large color photos from one of the later Ozu films - very rare.
One of the original circular display things for the cast of Spartacus that was at the Pantages when the movie played there. It's like they are on the poster, but these are separate things - I have Jean Simmons.
Two paintings used for paperback covers - one a nurse paperback that I've never been able to find, and the other a western for which I do have the book.
Two Kiki's Delivery Service cels and two cels from the anime series called Noir.
And lots of other goodies, including a whole slew of movie programs, just those little two-pager things they give out at screenings, but really good ones. And several pressbooks I didn't know I had, including North by Northwest, Invaders from Mars (with the comic book giveaway), Li'l Abner (of course) and several other goodies.
An original Harvey Schmidt doodle/drawing he did while we were having one of our long telephonic chats - it's really fun and I framed it really nicely along with his handwritten note about him doing it while we were talking.
-
That's so cool, BK!
-
Oh, and three original art cartoon panels - two from Gasoline Alley and a great one from Nancy (1941). I also have a large Sunday original from the 30s from Mutt and Jeff.

What a great assortment of goodies.

eBay doesn't seem like the right place for this stuff, frankly. Of course, in the den I have hanging my framed original daily from Li'l Abner - maybe one of the greatest panels one could own - from the 40s and great panels of both Abner and Daisy Mae and not only that, but her chasing him on Sadie Hawkins Day. There are a lot of Abner panels for purchase, some very reasonably, but I have never EVER seen as good a one as mine.
And I have a great original Modesty Blaise daily.

There must be a better option than eBay

Everyone must have been sleeping when the notes went up.
I was awake when the notes went up, but there was no new place to post.

The photos from Bells Are Ringing might be more valuable if the show any of the filmed and cut musical numbers "Is It A Crime" and "My Shining Star". The later written for the film and dropped. This is the one when Jeff Moss (Dean Martin) fingers out who Ella is and starts to look for her.

And why am I up at 2:24EST?

T.O.D.
I read a lot of Sherlock Holmes stories hen I was in junior high, but never any since then.
I loved the Basil Rathbone films, even when he started fighting the Nazis. The Hound of the Baskervilles is my least favorite Holmes story.
I enjoy ELEMENTARY, but I often forget to watch it.

And why am I up at 2:24EST?
Good question.
