Well, you've read the notes, the notes did not receive whooping and hollering and a standing ovation, and now it is time for you to post until the whooping and hollering cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RECONDITE!
-
I was in the middle of responding to DR Ginny, having quoting her, when we went to a new day ;D
-
DR Ginny I think Keith only saved, or reinstate the buses. We are glad they are still running, and that you are having a good day.
-
Topic of the Day: nothing at the moment. We'll see what I choose to listen to when I get to work.
-
Tonight, I finally get my birthday present from my sister and her boyfriend: all three of us are going to see Mandy Patinkin live in concert in Tacoma!
-
I assume that he'll be at the Pantages, but I don't remember.
-
And now, since I need to leave work early, I'm going to go to bed early.
Good night. 8)
-
'night. I to need to try and get some sleep. We ate late tonight and I am still full.
-
Friday morning greetings! Up early for an all-day genealogy workshop. It's sponsored by a major vendor, so it's all free, including lunch. I'm doing it for my sister.
Will try to check in from the convention center.
-
Good morning to all.
-
Good morning! It should be a beautiful weekend here in NY!
-
TOD:
Absolutely no idea.

My peach is not ripe.
-
Good morning, all!

I'm trying to make sense of this British exit from the EU.
-
Today, I need to be at City Center at noon. Joshie is doing a favor for me.
-
I woke around 1:30 last night needing some allergy medicine. My nose and throat were clogged and I couldn't get back to sleep, so I read a large chunk of Barbara Cook's new biography. I turned off the lights around 3:30, amd I am really dragging about hoping that I wake up.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I had a middle of the night sneezing fit, and still feel the tendency. Guess it's time for some Flonase (which actually I think I'm about out of) or a Benadryl.
-
Today I must finish up an area of weed pulling and mowing.
This evening, it's Hello, Dolly! with dinner and drinks on the lawn at the local outdoor musicals venue.
-
I'm trying to make sense of this British exit from the EU.
I'm sitting next to a librarian from England who says she's "gobsmacked" by this morning's news.
-
Break time at the genealogy seminar and there's NO COFFEE!!!

NO COFFEE??!!!!

I agree with MR BK about audiences today....and I am unanimous in that.
I think it started sort of with the tv show STAR SEARCH.....each of the singers had 45 seconds to do their thing.....and at 30 seconds, each of them would sing a loud high note or start yowling and growling and the audience would always respond in kind - prompted, I'm sure.
It continued on American Idol, etc.....and still goes on.... It makes me want to avoid theatre.
-
I am off to City Center!
My British friends on Facebook are seriously unhappy with yesterday's vote.
-
I'm trying to make sense of this British exit from the EU.
People want to determine their own destiny.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I love the word gobsmacked.
-
Two!

TOD:
I've got Antonioni's Le Amiche and Fellini's City of Women from the library, but I may decide on something else.
Car CD: Up to disc 15 of 23 in Can You Forgive Her?

Today is Dad's 88th birthday. I spoke with him earlier. He's much more lucid and chatty since someone is monitoring his meds and insulin intake more closely.
-
TOD:
Last night I had a hankering to watch a Robert Altman film in the vein of THE PLAYER or SHORT CUTS. I chose the former, and will follow up with the latter within the next couple of days. Hadn't seen these two in some years, and I find them a lot of fun with some good L.A. eye candy. I had actually forgotten much of what's in THE PLAYER, so the rediscovery was nice.
FYI, for those who like to know these things, Criterion released this on Blu-ray last month. I watched the existing (but out of print?) Warner Blu-ray and will no doubt upgrade that to Criterion one of these days. But the Warner is excellent.
Don't know what else. I've got so many yet-to-be-watched films now, it's ridiculous. But I love having them to pick from.
-
Happy Birthday to the father of DR JOHN G.
-
I love rediscovering movies DR CHAS SMITH - and here at HHW there have been so many wonderful recommendations from MR BK and other Dear Readers, that my film going interests have really been expanded.
-
Last night's rehearsal was not bad.....I was thinking it would take us two hours to get through Act One - and in fact even with stopping and starting a couple of times and taking several minutes between each scene....we still finished at 92 minutes. We can certainly trim that down....
-
I'm up, I'm up - I think I got almost eight hours of sleep.

Emily Skinner and Alice Ripley's Unattached: Live at Feinstein's/54 Below (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Unattached-Live-at-Feinsteins54-Below-2016-Emily-Skinner-Alice-Ripley/32240) has arrived in Tumwater, and that's what I'm going to listen to now. :)
-
Forgot to mention the New York City Opera recording of The Cradle Will Rock arrived this week. Tammy Grimes is excellent. Always a thrill to hear that score.
-
I am home from City Center. I had a good time with Joshie, and Rob Berman showed up, a nice surprise.
-

I ordered that. Mine hasn't arrived yet. :P
-
DR Ginny, your postcard arrived today.

I'm trying to make sense of this British exit from the EU.
People want to determine their own destiny.
Since I posted this earlier, I'm seeing that most of my British friends think it's a case of conservative nationalists screwing up the unification process. One of my friends posted:
Against my will, I have had my citizenship of the EU forcibly taken away from me. The immediate financial implications and the power vacuum that this has created are hardly worrying me as much as what seems to be a victory for insularity, nationalism, fear and mean-spiritedness, as well as the erosion of a flawed yet fixable, and incredible enriching peace project.
Sounds much like what's happening here with Trump supporters.

The worst is when someone is singing a fairly quiet song and the audience starts whooping and hollering. I HATE that. :P

A Very Happy Birthday to your dad, John!

My word, there were so many stupid typos in today's notes that I did something I never do - fixed them all.
-
I liked typos in headlines:

Got "home" from the genealogy seminar about half an hour ago. It was very worthwhile and my sister will like the goodies I send her.
-
Regrouping with Richard and resting a bit before tonight's dinner at Cuba Libre with the Retired Members Round Table.
-
Cuba Libre sounds good.
-
Well, it's time for me to bring the portable tables and chairs up from the basement and gather various and sundry other items together. I believe someone's bringing fried chicken and sides and salads, and we shall picnic (and cocktail) on the lawn prior to seeing the show where this woman parades down some stairs.
-
We're driving down to San Marcos tomorrow to see a matinee production of OKLAHOMA!
San Marcos is about halfway between Austin and San Antonio.
OKLAHOMA! was the 2nd stage play I saw. It was in the late 1940s; the National Company in Seattle.
The first play was HARVEY with Joe E. Brown when I was 5.
-
I think we at HHW enjoy the BEST in entertainment!
-
Well, it's time. I'm off to have dinner in Tacoma with my sister and her boyfriend, then we're all going to see Mandy Patinkin in concert! I'm not running the sound for tonight's "The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged)," of course. The director is going to sub for me tonight. Hopefully, he doesn't screw up anything. ;)
Be back later with a report!
-
Good evening!

Page 2?
-
BK will not be happy!
-
My friend in Manchester voted to leave and my friends in Scotland and Wales wanted to stay.
-
Page 3!
-
Page three? Really? One post? At eight-thirty EST? Are you people insane?
-
Good afternoon.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
The Brexit vote gobsmacked a lot of people. I was surprised; I thought they'd vote to stay.
-
A noisy audience would certainly spoil a show for me.
-
I have no news.
-
TOD:
Probably PERSON OF INTEREST.
-
Has anyone read any of the Rivers of London novels by Ben Aaronovitch? They're about an young constable who works in the part of the Met that deals with the supernatural. He's also an apprentice learning to do magic. The stories are quite fun. I'm about to finish #3 in the series. The author has quite an imagination and is a very capable writer. Recommended by the likes of me.
-
Have a good weekend, everyone.
TTFN.
-
Oh, dear.
-
I had two hamburgers - one at one and one at six.
-
Cleaned up the book room. Some stuff is moving to the garage.

Happy Birthday to the father of DR JOHN G.
Thank you, sir.

Is the university there doing the production?
-
I don't know if I can remember the first professional play I ever saw. Maybe it was a double bill of Edgar Allen Poe stories at Actors Theater of Louisville that was stage for Halloween.
-
I remember a high school production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and a church production of My Sweet Charlie somewhere in the same time period.
-
First professional musical was either Side by Side by Sondheim with Hermione Gingold or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers with Jane Powell and Howard Keel in their film roles.
-
In the seventh grade we started going to Shakespeare in the Park and when I was in high school I started ushering at Actors Theater, so the theater bug kicked into overtime.
-
Any home remedies for itchy mosquito bites?
-
Mine are driving me crazy.
-
Has anyone heard from Singdaw lately?
-
Or Ben?
-
I'm enjoying Antonioni's Le Amiche, especially his eye for what was in fashion then. The cars, the clothes, the whole looking of the upper class in Italy in 1955 is gorgeous.
-
Today is Dad's 88th birthday. I spoke with him earlier. He's much more lucid and chatty since someone is monitoring his meds and insulin intake more closely.
Happy Birthday to your dad. He's almost a twin of my dad!
-
And the Criterion restoration is beautiful.

I was thinking the same, Cilla.
-
Can we get off this page?
-
One more.
-
Four!
-
You did it!
-
Didn't do a lot of work today. I slept in, which was nice. Visited a client in juvenile detention. He's doing a lot better since he went in a few weeks ago. He was about to totally blow what is an incredible chance to turn things around and not throw his life away by going to prison. He sees that now. It was really great to see him doing so well
-
Then I went to Food Truck Friday. It's a new thing they've started downtown. There were 6 food trucks today and quite a bit of variety. This may actually turn out to be a good idea
-
I stopped at the office and did a few little things then I came home
-
Ever since I realized that I really like my life the way it is and I'm not trying to "build a resume" for the future. I've had so much less stress. I'm taking time off when I can, sometimes working like crazy and sometimes not. It's been good. I still feel a little guilty when I'm not doing the 9-5 thing, but I'll get over it
-
Good evening!
-
The Taste of Tacoma has started.
-
The rain showers have pretty well gone away.
-
The weather is now going to start looking a little more summer like.
-
Tomorrow is supposed to be in the low 70's.
-
Sunday may sneak up to 80.
-
Then they are calling for temperatures in the 80's all week.
-
Hopefully the nice weather will bring out the crowds for the Taste.
-
Are you going to the Taste?
-
This afternoon I watched COMPANY with Neil Patrick Harris and Miss LuPone.
-
I really enjoyed the production.
-
I thought that NPH was a wonderful Bobby.
-
Then I went to Food Truck Friday. It's a new thing they've started downtown. There were 6 food trucks today and quite a bit of variety. This may actually turn out to be a good idea
We had something like that at the main office yesterday. Unfortunately for me, I was working at the office park location.
-
And, yes, I thought that Patti was very good.
-
I thought that NPH was a wonderful Bobby.
I did, too. And the orchestra was sensational.
-
I particularly enjoyed her version of "Ladies Who Lunch."
-
I still don't understand why they added the "gay" scene.
-
I don't think it ruined the show, but I just couldn't figure out the point of it.
-
Broadway HD also has the Raul Esparza version available, so I will probably watch that one next week.
-
I don't think it ruined the show, but I just couldn't figure out the point of it.
I don't, either. It's too close to the other would-be seduction scene with Joanne, but isn't as revealing.
-
I don't care for the musical instruments in that version, but, if I remember correctly, I did enjoy Raul.
-

It's very John Doyle.
-
I was going to watch another movie or show, but I couldn't decide what I was in the mood for, so I just watched a couple of episodes of CHUCK instead.
-
One more post for this page.
-
Five
-
John, Happy Birthday wishes to your father.
-
I have watched all of the episodes of CHUCK already, but I still enjoy seeing them again.
-
It is kind of like MURDER SHE WROTE. Even though I have seen almost every episode, I enjoy watching them again.
-
As for the T.O.D.
-
cd's: I am still enjoying the London cast recording of THE MUSIC MAN.
-
And on my iPad, I am listening to MACK AND MABEL and trying to enjoy HAMILTON.
-
John, Happy Birthday wishes to your father.
Thank you, sir.
-
DVD: SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHERIFF
NORTH BY NORTHWEST or THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH
-
Although, I am in the mood for some Sherlock Holmes.
-
Still, most of the weekend will be people watching out on the balcony.
-
I have not been doing any reading lately.
-
I haven't even been reading my magazines and catalogs.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night, John.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
I guess Nicky thinks I have the TV sound too high.
-
I turned on the Women's Gymnastics at 9:00, and Nick left the room and hasn't come back yet.
-
Maybe like me, he prefers the Men's Gymnastics that is on tomorrow evening.
-
I do want to check out the books that Jeanne mentioned today.
-
If I can find her post again.
-
Today is Dad's 88th birthday. I spoke with him earlier. He's much more lucid and chatty since someone is monitoring his meds and insulin intake more closely.
Good news about your dad and Happy Birthday to him.
-
The Brexit vote gobsmacked a lot of people. I was surprised; I thought they'd vote to stay.
It looked like the vote was going that way making it rather shocking

Vibes her turns his life around!
-
Jeanne, I went to Amazon to buy a Kindle copy of the River of London book, but I got very confused which books were which. Is it the Peter Grant books that I want to read? Some of those are listed that way, but other Peter Grant books aren't (such as MOON OVER SOHO).
-
I am easily confused.
-
I went to Goodreads and the Peter Grant books are a different series,
River of London: Body Work #1 is the first in this seies.
-
Nevermore d, I see why you are confused.
-
Has anyone heard from Singdaw lately?
Or Ben?
Or Dan M.? :-\
-
SIX!!
-
Well, let me just say that even though he could (still) be somewhat intense and over the top at times, Mandy Patinkin put on a great show!
-
I saw maybe five or six people in the audience that I know! DRs Ann and Jed were even there! We chatted for a bit before the show.
-
The show was called "Mandy Patinkin: Dress Casual." it was just almost two hours of Mandy and his accompanist on the piano.
